Comments of Chee Tayeb
T. 9.
Beautiful place. Amazing owners. The chicken wrap is amazing and the outdoor seating is wicked. Can smoke outside which is cool, COLD beer available which is great. Every time I’ve came here I’ve really enjoyed it. Highly recommend it. Great prices too, just be aware they do close quite early tho
J. O.
Service was polite but unatttentive and unorganised. Food was authentic with an Aussie twist. Coffee is no longer served.
B. A.
As usual, the meal was delicious and nice place for a quick or long lunch. We had our End of year team lunch, grilled and lots of lovely starters. Finally, an authentic Middle Eastern coffee.
C. N.
What to say? Just great ! Best lebanese food ever.
T. M. C.
I try to make a point of eating here when I come into the city. The food is tremendous (get the chicken wrap!), the owner is friendly and welcoming, and the whole vibe of the place is chilled. There are a thousand places to eat in the city centre, and I still haven’t found anything that comes close to matching the quality at the almost comically low prices.

Amazing and authentic lebanese food. Great portion! Server was attentive and great on recommendation. Best hummus and garlic dip I ever had!
A.
Wanted to like this place more but the food wasn't amazing. The hummus dip was great along with the pita but shwarma plate had "fried potatoes" which were just ordinary chips. The meat and garlic sauce tasted very "kebab shop" and not Lebanese at all. Not terrible but not amazing either.
N.
Very delicious and authentic Lebanese food made by Lebanese people. We had a great time and we highly recommend. 👍🏼

Had some drinks with mates and had a 5 star. I have marked down to three as I went back and was closed. That's cool but there sign on the window and there were people in the back of store and we could see them. But there sign on the door showed that they should be open. As a store owner I would recommend putting up signs that are your true opening times. I personally say I open at ten bust most times there at 9.30, but I guarantee to be there at 10.
D. S.
Delicious meals. Very reasonable prices especially when bundled with a pint of a good cold beer.
J. L.
Small restaurant but you will find it very warm. Very warm service by the boss (I suppose he is) and food is wonderful served with heart. Dine in here for breakfast on Sunday, you will find it very peaceful. It is the 2nd time I come here (I return). The first time I come just pass by, without any plan to go here and I find myself very lucky to meet this place. 2nd time I come here and again warmly served by the boss. Really want to come again before I leave Perth and back to Hong Kong next week.
C. D.
Being brought up on Arabic food in Dubai, I can confidently say that this is the best Arab food I’ve had in Perth. The bread is soft and fresh, the falafels are crisp and flavourful and the knafeh is definitely one of the best in Perth. On top of the great food, the service is top notch.
D. O.
Amazing coffee and super friendly service. A couple of delicous vegan options in the menu too.
r. f.
Great fresh food, good service. Recommend the hommus and tabouleh 😁
M. M. (.
Food is very average and pretty expensive for what you get but the service is great and that's what kind of saved it for me.
U. C.
Kindly fix your timings on the maps too had to walk all the way to find you guys closed. Thanks.
L. F.
Service is everything and we got that in bucket loads from Kaleb. Friendly and effective, including bringing us off menu tapped beers from their bar upstairs.
The lamb hummus and authentic bread was a great way to start, followed by some generous mains. No one in the group of four had a bad word to say about the experience which enticed us to finish off with a final pint in Rey’s bar upstairs.
A. O.
Not bad Lebanese food, falafels are a bit dry. The homous and bread are really good
K. H.
Friendly and generous owner, value for money, nice atmosphere and music, comfort seats.
a. r.
Good Food, great host, would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
V. C.
My sister and I stumbled across this little gem. The baba ganoush and warm, homemade flatbread was absolutely delicious. We then shared the lamb and chicken skewers served with pickle and hummus - both yummy. Traditional Lebanese coffee had a kick to it and I love triple shot long macs so that says a lot. But best of all was the service. My one year old was chucking a complete wobbly in the restaurant and the young boy serving us couldn’t do more to help! He bought colouring pencils and paper, followed by hats and sunglasses to keep him amused. Just gorgeous, authentic service!
S. C.
Nice sized meals, full of flavour.
M. A. J.
The most amazing minced lamb hummus , buffalo wings and skewered lamb cubes. What a nice dining experience for our first day in Perth.
Finished it off with knafe dessert , Lebanese coffee and piccolo. Simply heaven on earth for food and beverage. VERY Highly recommended. We will come again.
N. B.
We decided to stop for lunch at Chee Taken today being it looked like it had a cosy, bustling atmosphere. We asked if the shared platter could be adjusted for vegetarians and the staff happily helped us out. With a good view of the outdoor seating, it was obvious that the restaurant had many regulars in the way the staff greeted and chatted with the diners. The food was excellent with a number of dishes we had not tried before. We will be back!
For those diners requiring accessibility, the restaurant is ramp access with an accessible bathroom.
j. h.
Good Lebanese food, Nice atmosphere and friendly staff that reminds me of Lebanon and a very friendly and attentive owner.
If you haven't tried good Lebanese food before and you are near the city, try this place. All the food is good so you can't go wrong. I recommend the mixed plate, and if you like sweets, you have to try the Kanafe with Arabic coffee.
s. v. (.
It is so hard to find tasty vegan dishes if a restaurant is not specialized in vegan food. This one was absolutely amazing. I know authentic arabic food and this one is a winner. Good choice for vegans, too. Very friendly and attentive staff. Yes, it's on the pricey side and yes the portions are small for the price, but you will definitely get very tasty food, freshly made and served with a smile.
R. d. S.
Only tried a dessert dish there - the knafe.
As the menu said it was 'Rich, creamy, sweet, cheesy, sticky and crunchy!'
I'd love to go back to have it again and try the other food, however, my only dislike was the cigarette smoke wafting inside from the outdoor tables.
It's a shame because the food on the other tables looked great and the owner and the waitress were very helpful and friendly.
If not for the cigarette smoke would have given it 5 stars.
Z. W.
Authentic Lebanese food cooked to perfection. The Knafeh is particularly delicious.
P. R. (.
Very good food, the lamb kebab was smoky and well cooked, nice array of dips and the flat bread served with the meals is delicious.
Unfortunately this restaurant had some of the smallest serving sizes I've ever seen! The mains looked almost like an entree, which was a shame. My sister told me they had to stop and get a burger on the way home as they were still hungry.
Myself and another guest also experienced some upset tummy the next day, which we think may be due to the sweet chilli chicken wings (the other guest noticed they were still a bit raw inside).
We also noticed the guy who I assume is the owner, strolling out from the kitchen and scratching his belly, his t shirt came up so we can all see his belly! Not appetising in the least.
Disappointed as we came here especially as it's supposed to be the best Lebanese restaurant in Perth.
T. S.
We came here based on the reviews and it did not disappoint! We ordered falafel plate, hummus, shish tawook and zaatar. Everything was adequate portions and great taste. The only reason I knocked off a star was because there were 2 parties there that we slightly big in number and because of that we were served 25 minutes late. But would 100% recommend as this is the closest to Lebanese food I've had in Perth.
L. A.
Nice little pub to watch the world go by.
Great service and friendly staff 👍
A. K.
Had the shared plate. Very tasty dishes, specially the meat balls and makanek spiced beef sausages. Loved the freshly made hot bread with the hummus too. All washed down with a nice spicy Lebanese red wine. The owner was very attentive and friendly. This was our first visit. Won't be the last!
F. A.
Can’t fault takeaway kanefe - was delicious. One my favourite Lebanese desserts. Syrup given on the side.
S. K.
Service was super fast and super friendly. The Kifta tasted like a Indian fusion between a Kifta and a Chapli kebab. Fattoush was nice but it looked like a normal garden salad with bread pieces on top - the bread pieces looked like papdi (the bread used in Indian snack dishes) and there was no bakdoones at all in the fattoush. I think the South Asian chef needs more lessons on cooking tabikh Libnani because i can see a heavy influence of Indian/Pakistani flavours in the dishes i ate - just some constructive feedback on how to present as a more authentic Lebanese restaurant if that is the aim? Shish Tawook was delicious - i enjoyed that dish the most. It is a good place to go for eating out if you are in the mood for being experimental and looking to eat fusion cuisine.
J. A.
Food was nice but not very authentic, if you are looking for "modern" middle eastern food rather than traditional then perfect - not to my taste however. Good service, friendly staff.
R. F.
Best Lebanese Restaurant by far in Perth. Very impressive, coming from Lebanon and eating all that nice flavored food was amazing. From the starters, to the main to the dessert all is lovely. On the other hand, the prices are quit cheap comparing to the rest of restaurant in the city and the customer service was magnificent. Thanks Peter and Joseph see you soon
R. M.
My wife and I had very relaxing and tasty lunch with a close business associate at Chee Tayeb. We had a huge platter of middle eastern delicacies complemented by fresh-from-the-oven hot bread. Joseph and Peter were great hosts and it was a great choice for a yummy mid-week lunch...thanks Lauren!
P. W.
Made to feel welcome and comfortable. Food was very fresh and full of flavour. Wine served was full bodied deep and worth traveling for. And after dinner the real kicker for me was the free Labanese coffee. 5 stars.
s. s.
Average experience. Presentation of Tawouk was nice but food lacked flavour, salad was a bit bland, bread was hard like a pappadum. A lot of salt as well. On the positive side, service was quick.
N.
Thee best Lebanese food you will find in Australia. Small place but super authentic, my fav is the knafeh and coffee. We ran the whole menu, this is no gimmick middle eastern cuisine packed with flavour and fresh, the bread came out still puffing hot air. If only they delivered to NSW.
R. G.
Didn't order. Just an average cafe in terms of decor. We left after 5 minutes as the owner was entertaining a group of 10 drunk and loud Tradies at the outside tables. Went to the Hummus Club for a great night of dining instead.
K. H.
After reading reviews, we were excited to try this place but found the food underwhelming. Service was friendly, but the food itself (we ordered a Mezze Share Platter) was dry and uninspiring. Some of the prices might be worth revising.
J. P.
This is more of a cafe than a restaurant. The middle eastern flavours are there, but in a more simple form than in higher end middle eastern and eastern Mediterranean establishments. Also on the evening we visited there was only one person in the kitchen and one wait staff. This meant it took longer for food to come.
S. P.
This is the second time I have visited the place. The first time I was served by a man named Joseph. Impeccable food and unmatched social experience. I have the utmost respect for him. The second time round, however, has made me reconsider my attachment with the place and put me off.
The in-dining experience was excellent. The food, unlike anything I have ever tasted. The food was truly amazing. It was the post-dining experience that was apalling.
I had brought up to around 20 guests this time, Joseph's father (Peter) was primarily serving us. He did his best to keep us happy (with the help of his young and enthusiastic trainee).
Some of my guests had some negative feedback, which was expressed in a review here.
The next day I received 2 very confronting phonecalls from Peter, telling me to convey his disappointment to my guest about the feedback including a bit of back and forth about hospitality and professionalism.
The conversation was getting a little bit too convoluted just because of his inability to process negative feedback. I was not impressed with the direction of the conversation and how the conversation ended.
Social maturity is very important in a great restaurant like Chee Tayeb. I wish Joseph takes the lead in correcting these negative elements in an otherwise great restaurant.
If it wasn't for the post-dining experience, my rating would be 5 out of 5.
H. H. A.
Loved the shared tasting plate for lunch today - a great mix of flavours and different things to try. Staff and manger were attentive and helpful. Will definitely be back.
D. H.
Absolutely fantastic meal. Great location on Murray St in CBD (across from Jim Kidd Sports); owner was very welcoming and put on an amazing meal. The Hummus plate was spectacular (I have since been back for more!) and the grilled haloumi was the best my partner & I have ever tried. A+
P. F.
Never disappointed with this restaurant, always served with the best service & best foods. Staffs were very friendly & helpful, the Irish waitress, Foods were amazing, it's very big portion & worth the price. I'll come back soon! Cheers 🍻
K. A.
Extremely delicious food. Good service.
Dont forget after you complete your dinner to order one Kunafa plus Lebanese coffee; then you will feel as a king.
c. m.
Lovely food. We had a great meal complemented by a very good coffee
J. G.
Absolutely delicious coffee ☕️
and awesome, friendly service.
R. A.
Amazing.. smell of Beirut 🇱🇧❤️
z. h.
It is a lebanese Mediterranean restaurant offering grills and the famous tabouli and fatoush and manakish also you can have breakfast....The food is good, the ambiance is good, cleaness also good; but their portion for a main course is relatively small and not value for money...i can't consider it as a meal maybe more like a starter. It wasnt a complete experience.
T. T.
Absolutely beautiful breakfast. Lovely staff, lots of food on offer. Breakfast outdid all expectations!! Love the freshly cooked bread!! A nice touch and we will be back. Is across from Kickz 101 😁
t. t.
Best Lebanese fare in Perth, bar none! Inventive menu and warm hospitality... we keep coming back to Chee Tayeb for the great food and Lebanese beer!
5 stars all the way!
C. H.
Every time I come into Chee Tayeb, I'm greeted by Pierre and I always get to have a conversation, I get served fantastic coffee and my beer is always cold. I love coming here and I'll always recomend it. I recommend the Lebanese coffee with Cardomon.
R. A.
If you're looking for authentic Lebanese/middle eastern food in downtown Perth, this is a place to be. The food was delicious, we ordered a platter of mixed starters and the kifta and my Korean friends loved all of it. Hope to try the new dessert (konafa) next time and also drink some Arak. Recommend for sure.
N. H.
Great service and food.
C. D.
Great breakfast spot. Simple and filling food and the service was fantastic. Attentive and friendly, without being overbearing. Will definitely come back for lunch sometime soon.
N. S.
It was great! We had the shared plate for 2 and it was delicious and very filling! The service was great - The chef even came out to check how or meals were 😊
R. S.
Have been looking for decent felafel for a long time. There are so many poor examples out there, I'd almost given up hope of finding one again. I'll be back, brunch menu looks good.
A. R.
2nd visit. Awesome true, freshly made, Lebanese taste. Reasonably priced, very short menu - like top restaurateurs do - , friendly service and most important: trustworthy quality.
b.
Friendly staff, great food, sensible prices and relaxed. Oh and always fresh but quick to serve. Just spot on very time I go.
J. N.
Where else in Perth can you you get a huge, freshly baked Lebanese bread wrap with fresh ingredients and a drink for $12 with full table service and individual billing? A hidden gem!!
K. K.
The food is tasty and the service staff is chatty and friendly. The only negative is that the neighbourhood is unsafe at night so don't go too late.
P. F.
Super delicious food. We have been there twice as their wraps are so Yummi. Very nice und friendly Staff
R. E.
Tasty food. Servings are on the small side if you can't eat the bread so consider this if you need to eat gluten free. Apparently if you call in advance, they can do gf bread. Might try that!
H. D.
Food was great, fresh, traditional and service was very friendly and inviting. Definitely try it out a little hidden gem.
J. W.

The kunafa with the wonderful Arabic coffee with its oriental Arabic cups, the best in Perth ...., you should do it ... in addition to that for lovers of Manakish in the morning, you can imagine in the west of the country and the people an atmosphere that takes you to where you find your comfort. The Lebanese dishes that you love, with a refined character and a nice western flavor, and a very respectable customer service ... Thanks.
