A wonderful late lunch here with friendly service by the French manager who gave us time to decide and spread out our food in courses to maximise our enjoyment and the space on our table. The wine list was approachable for a novice to Spanish wines and his recommendations were accurately paired with our food. Not to mention very generous portions for a tappas restaurant.

Authentic tapas bar set in a curved wooden dining room with spanish-inspired cultural decorations and friendly staff. Recommend the croquettes and prawns, but all the food was super fresh and tasty and the service was super fast! Ordered and everything came in 10 minutes even though they were obviously under the pump on a busy Saturday night!! If you love tapas or want to give it a go, then this is the place for you :)

It was a bit disappointing to us because I booked the restaurant for the highest rating from Zomato. The dishes were not bad, but not as outstanding as the rating. The lamb was dry to my standard and I’d prefer my bread warm when it’s served. It’s a good dinning place, but it will not be my go to restaurant.

Walked in in a Saturday without reservation and had a table at the bar next to each other which was perfect for us as it gets very noisy. The staff was friendly and the food delicious. We had the 2 different croquettes, prawns, lamb shoulder and potatoes. The portions are very good for 2 people. We took half of the lamb back home!

Great food and the atmosphere is fantastic, but the service lets them down. We go back on a semi-regular basis as the food is worth it, but we always leave thinking the service could be improved. Drinks take a long time to come out, there's generally one that is wrong, and it's often hard to get someone's attention. So overall a good night out but could be spectacular with better service.

Duende is consistently fabulous! Attentive staff, great atmosphere and stunning food. I've been a few times over the years and it is still consistently great! I've opted most times for the chefs feed me menu which is substantial in itself and indulgent with the matched wines - well worth the experience!

Duende, Just fantastic! The food is good, that doesn't need to be said too much of. What I'd like to really complement on is the service. Wonderful waiters who brings you to your table, then you get recommendations of what they think is the best and that you're well taken care of the whole night. Thank you once again!

Food was incredible as usual. Great wine list !!! We were able to get a table for two on a busy night without a booking, so that’s also a plus. However! The service was lacking. Staff were inattentive, often passing us by and several of our food orders were forgotten. Drinks took forever to come. When we managed to flag down staff to follow up on a missing course, we were told we didn’t actually order it. We left without the dessert we ordered because we had trouble with staff not coming to check. Overall a great meal specially the cheeks; however the lack of service tarnished our experience.

A very pleasurable experience! The dishes chosen were a delectable fusion of flavors that tantalised our taste buds. Started with mushrooms with blue cheese, candies pecans..., meatballs with mushrooms, goat+truffle foam..followed by braised beef cheek with, cauliflower and parsnip puree... Totally scrumptious! Great selection of wines. Service was good, friendly and helpful staff. Ambience, welcoming casual Spanish feel. I loved that we provided the server with a brief description of likes and dislikes and he chose the dishes. Spot on! A serious must experience. 11/10

It's almost possible to imagine you're in Spain when tucked in to a table towards the back of this restaurant which looks tiny from the outside but houses lovely booths once you get inside. The food was a mixture of satisfyingly oily single tapa and more sophisticated larger portions.

I would have given 5 stars but the service let them down. When we first arrived we noticed there was no COVID QR Scanner which was a little odd and we weren't asked to write in a register. We were seated fairly promptly but then waited and waited. When we were finally asked if we wanted water the Maitre' D rushed off so fast we couldn't order drinks or food. The guys went to the bar to order but that caused much confusion and they were sent back to our table. After we finally ordered drinks and food we were fortunately tended to by a female waitress who was fabulous. We got the chef’s recommendation of a set five course meal and she recommended adding a vegetarian option. The food was exceptional. The service however was bizarre to say the least. For a Sunday night it was quite busy and the staff seem to have set jobs and wouldn't sway from them. When the barman brought our drinks he wouldn't take our food order which is fine but never said he would send someone over. After we were brought our Haloumi a waiter came over and said "sorry guys that's not yours" and took it off our table (we'd already eaten from it). Fortunately the young lady came over and apologised and gave it back. Then we were told we couldn't order a margharita as they had "run out of ice". If it wasn’t for the young lady who was more attentive and knowledgeable than the rest put together we would have left before we ordered. She deserves a raise, the rest need training in hospitality.

Duende was a fantastic night out. Went for our friends Birthday. The service was spot on. We had the chefs 3 course special with the wine pairing. The hot food COULD have been slightly hotter, however still tasted amazing. Thank you for looking after us. Definetely be coming back.

We had the potatoes, meatballs, and the sweetcorn croquettes. Delicious! My only regret is that I couldn't eat more. I want to try everything on the menu. I need to return.

Went here for the first time yesterday and it was by far one of my favourite restaurants I've been to. Absolutely delicious food, all so unique and dishes using such unique ingredients and ones I would never have thought would work so well together but it was just amazing! The customer service really made the night special, we were greeted as soon as we approached the door, the young women that was waiting our table was so lovely and you could just tell everyone working there loves their job and their passion really made for an amazing experience. The bill worked out to be so much cheaper than we thought, we had about 8 different dishes and drinks and it still worked out to be under $100 which was a very pleasant surprise. You'll leave here with a full stomach and a smile on your face. We will definitely be back, thank you for such a great experience.

Have been twice now. First time the service wasn’t that amazing. They never checked up to see if we wanted more drinks, or if we wanted dessert etc. but the food was really good! Second time and food was great again - we ordered 5 small dishes to share. Garlic prawns, grilled corn and croquettes were my favourites. Service was better this time! Service was pretty good. They didnt have a wide selection of beers on tap but they had an amazing collection of beers from various micro-breweries aroud Australia. I decided to visit as they let me sit outside with my dog. Their outside sitting area is under cover, but not well shielded in the heavy rains. Dogs are not allowed inside.

Had a ripper feed here last year to celebrate a friends engagement. Great staff, atmosphere and food. Price was really reasonable too. Unfortunate that they don't do a parmi, but this could be attributed to the spank background of the restaurant. I'll forgive this.

Beautiful, spectacular food that is served by some of the kindest most heart warming staff. I highly recommend eating here and ordering the biggest share plates they have to offer so be sure to bring a large group of friends to join in!

Great food, but terrible service. The staff couldn't answer simple questions about the menu, didn't know how to turn on the heater (in the outdoor seating area in the middle of winter) and didn't return to take drink/food orders.

Went there last night. The place was warm and cosy. Pretty busy. Friendly staff. The plates went out very fast. The food tho was average. We shared tree plates. The pork belly was outstanding. The octopus and chorizo was ok. And the ceviche was tasteless and unbalanced.

It's a cozy restaurant, the staff were attentive and helpful, and the tapas dishes were delicious and unique. The average price per dish was around $17 ($23 for the pork belly dish or barramundi), and the dish size isn't overly big, so the price really adds up quickly. You could get bigger meals elsewhere for the same price, BUT, you really wouldn't get that level of quality, for example the barramundi was cooked to absolute perfection (with a crispy skin that was beautiful yet not a hint of being burnt). By the way, I loved the donut balls for dessert, really delicious. Overall, I'd come back (and try to bring along more friends so we could try more plates), but it's more of a special occasion type of restaurant rather than casual cheap dining. Well, unless if you want to eat like a bird, in which case it would be cheap enough!

It's ok. We had potatos bravos, octopus (the waitress did not even know what pulpo was), croquettes, salted cod and a couple more somewhat unmemorable dishes. They served up old school Westernised tapas, unimaginative and not authentic. They are struggling to keep up with the new kid on the block, Pinchxos. They did have a good wine list with a cool laid back location but poor value for money when it comes to food portions. Overall must try harder.

we had dinner at 8:30ish 11th april 15 it was my 3-4 time in duende as invited back by friends. we had squid, pork belly, Patatas bravas, artichoke and a chorizo platter. The only disappointing item was the patatas, pretty bland.... though the accompanying salsa was great. Pork belly was spectacular squid different and well cooked. I had a great gin and tonic with a generous measure. the over all bill for 4 people was a little on the high side for my liking but I will visit again and recommend at least one visit :-)

It is rare to revisit a venue, where a single staff member impresses me so much, that it prompts me to re-rate and rewrite a venue review. Duendé is an iconic bar and restaurant in a prime location giving patrons a panoramic view of Leederville. While there are other venues that have Spanish heritage in the area, it was the Barman Toby that opened my eyes to the depth of Duendé. In a world of unhappy employees Toby took the time to interact with us. On seeing empty glasses he took the time to seek input and recommend a variety of wines and a particular sherry. His knowledge was excellent. As a result we savoured a variety of enjoyable beverages. While the venue was full with happy diners his efforts left us feeling like we were the sole patrons. A remarkable and noteworthy accomplishment. Kudos and my gratitude, Toby! Food was fresh and follows a Spanish theme. Servings ample. Prices middle of the road. Following my second visit to Duendé, I've rated the venue 5 stars.
