Amazing place! I have added a hand for size comparison. The meals are very large and tasty. The one downside I believe is the furniture and colour scheme, very dark and strange but I think it’s the sort of vibe they’re going for but would suggest a change to more cheerful colours.

A definite must for casual dining in the hills. They offer a great range on the menu and both dishes we had came out perfect. The mains are very big but worth it to take some home at the end. Ordered another pasta to take away after tasting how good this one was.

Wow, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED... haven't been in a while, but booked a week in advance for a Sunday birthday lunch for 11 of us.. Fantastic service as food was served promptly and friendly with large servings, and is at an extremely high standard. Some prices can be a little expensive eg, $20 cheese burgers!! but large chips are included.. so keep that in mind. Book ahead and you'll have a great time like we all did..

This is one place I have been meaning to go to for a while now and have finally got here! It is an outstanding experience. The food is large and tastes mouthwatering. Selection is not out there but tempting to try which makes you want to come back and try something else. Staff professional and reminds you of traditional Italian restaurant table service. Which is absolutely amazing. Though one of the wait staff did get my order wrong. They fixed it with no fuss and apologized for the mistake. The owner remembers its regulars. So mistake notwithstanding we all had a wonderful experience and would return here. Oh my the cocktails are a definite, they are divine!

As a vegetarian I almost never have the luxury of choice as restaurants usually have only one meat-free option and you have to take what you can get, but here I was torn between loads of different veggie options that all sounded fantastic. Last night my wife and I went on a double date for dinner with my brother and his girlfriend at Embers before catching a show at Marloo Theatre. When we were welcomed to our table, the waiter who served us was professional, friendly and charming. He checked on us to make sure we were enjoying our meal and if we wanted another drink when one was finished. I ordered the Sirloin Steak, wife had the filet mignon, brother had duck l’orange and brother’s girlfriend had the Saltimbaco. The aromas of the food coming out of the kitchen were amazing. The sirloin steak had a generous portion of creamy mushroom sauce, chips were fresh and had right amount of crunch and salad had a generous amount of dressing. When we’re in the area we would happily visit again. Fantastic atmosphere and had we not a show to go, probably would’ve stayed for dessert.

Attended this restaurant with a party in of six. I ordered a warm beef salad, while the others all ordered Italian sounding dishes. The food was exceptional, but not ordinary exceptional, oh no!! This was Blinken exceptional. The wait staff, without exception, during their business, never forgot great public service. A friendly smile here, a pleasant recommendation there, all the while creating a desirable friendly environment. If there was a negative, our table was a little sticky and may have benefited from a a hot soapy cloth. Otherwise top marks.

Every time I come to this place I try something new and I've never been disappointed. That's a fair achievement, the staff are super friendly and accommodating. The vibe is family friendly and warm, the food is generous in portions and rich in flavour. The breakfast menu is a delight also so no matter the time of day or night, come up to Gooseberry Hill for the View but stay for the food at Embers. The VIP dessert is definitely the Banoffee pie, pre order as it sells out!

We had dinner at Embers on the 25th September 2020 and from the time we called to book a table till we finished our meal, the service we received from David was excellent!!! We felt like we were treated like guests at a 7 star restaurant and not a family restaurant. The food was delicious but the service is what we will be back for. We are well travelled and this service tonight from David stands up to some of the best we received on an international level. Thank you David and the chef's for a wonderful experience. Well done!

Had a beautiful experience here last night! Delicious meals, we started with the special of the balsamic mushroom and hommus bruschetta which was incredible, and then had the Cordon Bleu and the Parmigiana and they were both outstanding. We also had the Embers Mignon and it was cooked perfectly with a great pepper sauce, and my dad, who is notoriously hard to please with steak at restaurants, said it was the best he’s ever had. The service was genuine, authentic and so accommodating and overall it was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be speaking very highly of this place, and returning! Thankyou again!

We were present on a Friday night about 7pm. We were pleasantly taken to our table, drinks orders were soon taken and arrived about 15 minutes later. After food orders were taken it took almost an hour for the food to arrive. It was fine to excellent and of enormous servings. But the kids, by 8.20, were tolerantly 'starving'. The restaurant was completely full when we arrived, about 60% full when we left. Our advice from that experience is to arrive earlier (maybe?) and/or have a little snack in your handbag to help the smaller children bear the wait. Thank you Embers team. Notwithstanding the above it was a really good night out. And we do appreciate the effort and skill required to do what you do so well.

We have been going to Embers for more than 18years and never had a meal we haven't been happy with, however the last time let us down. Latino prawns nowhere near the normal standard, fish tacos swimming in sauce and not super good, chicken cordon bleu nice but seabone sauce just average. May I suggest that the chef was off their game. Such a dissapointment as we haven't been out fir for a meal in ages. We'll be back and I'm sure it'll be its usual self!!!

Embers singlehandedly got us through the pandemic. With over 100 meals there (and takeaway), we have yet to have a bad meal, or even a mistake...ever. Pizza, pasta, cocktails, seafood, steak, duck, lamb, salads. Even the gelato & ice cream is great. Fairly priced, great portions, and the hardest working crew in the hills. Hot tip: get there early for dinner and you may get freshly picked farm fruit, or leftover French pastries from next door at half price.

Such an amazing place to eat.. takeaway or dine in.. Never disappoints. Wife loves the chilli mussels and we travel there just to get them. Everytime I've eaten in have always got a container to go as the portions are huge and always gets the best of me. The staff are amazing and very friendly. We rarely tip waiters as not common to here but the service we receive from the gentleman waiter is so outstanding we felt the need to leave a little something extra last time!

Had a good night there with a group of six people for birthday celebrations. We all ordered different meals of the menu. Everybody loved the food. Only tiny mistake was crispy skin salmon was not crispy. But otherwise lovely. The desserts were again lovely. Service with food also with the wine was good and fast. The staff were a delight. Nice little gem in the hills. We travelled over an hour to eat there. Will be back again. I recommend booking.

Good place to eat, but underwhelming. I guess this restaurant is over-rated, there are better restaurants in the area, right now. Not particularly impressed by their dishes (very traditional & basic) but the expected taste is there so I cannot complain. Poor choice of desserts. We always love this place for the delicious food, great wines and good service. It gets busy, so book ahead! Having tried a lot of dishes here the only disappointment was scallopini, the thinly sliced beef was so chewy. Servings are large so go the small unless you are starving 😃 Everything can be pick up or home delivery as well. Top notch fish and chips too!

I cannot recommend this absolute beauty of a restaurant enough, it is a winner. The food is consistently amazing. I have had breakfast, dinner and takeaway many times and have never been disappointed. You know how some places are a ‘hit and miss’? This place always hits! I found this place to have a great menu with a huge variety, the staff were very friendly and we lacked for nothing. Very nice all round. Lovely cosy atmosphere, with friendly staff, good food and great service. The choices on the menu were varied and extensive. Better than most places I have been for a long time. If you sit outside in the under cover area you can even bring your dog. A real gem and well worth a visit.

We ordered the Cow Huggin Hippie pizza and the Chicken and Almond Tortellini and both were incredibly bland. My other half said if he hadn't been told it was chicken and almond in the tortellini he would never have known; and the pizza was just tasteless. The cheesy garlic bread was super delicious, I could happily have just eaten a few plates of that. The flavours on everything else were very muted though.

Purchased kids packs for $1.50 which had colouring things that kids like. Waitstaff were attentive and high-fived our older nephew (4 y.o.) on the way out. The food was great and we were given a space to sit at with plenty of room, not crammed into a corner as often can happen. For a reasonable fee, the birthday cake we brought with us was cut and served with cream and strawberries. The gnudis is fabulous. And I loved the fresh curley leaf parsley it comes garnished with. My partner had the sirloin which he loved and told me it was cooked perfectly, medium-rare. Another in the party had a seafood entree that came out sizzling and smelled great. The garlic bread is amazing and I do recommend it. Everyone gave positive reports for their mains (pizzas, burgers, curries, the verde, and the special which was bbq pork ribs). The restaurant location has an interesting history, which was told to us by staff at a previous visit and elaborated on by my father who grew up in the area and knows the location well. The history adds to the charm of the restaurant, but now I'm digressing a little... Basically, we felt looked after, the food was great, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Big thanks to the staff of Embers for helping to make my partner's birthday wonderful.

So much flavour and a generous serve for a reasonable price. They also do take away containers if you can't eat it all in one sitting. The service was also very friendly and super fast! All the food is esquisite - There isn't much on the menu I haven't tried and it is all so full of flavour, very generous servings (without their being waste) and they'll happily pack leftovers for you to take home. Great wine list - The only SA Shiraz that you can get by the glass (forget the name) is so subtle & easy to drink! Highly recommend the chilli mussels & braised beef cheeks. 10/10!
