My wife and i had lunch there. We originally wanted to have the lunch special for $12.50 but as always im tempted by naan bread and i also went for chicken madras which wasnt part of the lunch deal. The food tasted great though wasn't as hot as i wanted it to be. The naan bread wasnt as fresh as i wanted it to be. However, the atmosphere was great, the lady hosting us was superb and we had great conversation. We will certainly be back again and looking forward to this.

I think the rest of the comments explain this place well Id much rather give my experience for the last few months Walk in temperature is always great Then walk over to the cabinets the prices the food and the options are all there and easily accessible The person behind the counter is always lovely and is always happy Ordering is saying what food you want Waiting for me has always been extremely minimal (at most 5 mins) usually it's between a minute and 3 Eating in is super nice the tables are super clean in cleanliness and in minimalism and the lights with the nature features are super cool and out of the way making eating in super easy A smile and a wave is how I like to leave waiting to come back next time. Tldr: super great experience from start to end Side note: the prices are super good for what they are because most if not all curries come with rice Highly Highly recommended

If you're from New Zealand and had Shamiana or spice traders, this is the exact same. The butter chicken was so good and tasted like home. We live south of the river and was worth the travel. So happy to find food that tastes like home here.

Great location. Friendly staff. I like how the chef was visible. Very clean and inviting with its informal approach. I ordered naan bread which was to die-for. It just melted in my mouth. The rice was perfect. The dhal was delicious. The beef korma had a unique flavor that I wasn't used to it, but the beef was cooked to perfection. The onion bhaji and curry puff thingies....OMG! I could just have the puff, onion bhaji and naan bread with dhal for dinner here!!!! *nom..nom..nom...* The waitress was so pleasant and warm. She made me feel really welcomed. It is a great family place.

Best Indian around... absolutely mouthwateringly delicious curries (and a great selection of them). So tasty, lots of meat, and the vegetarian curries are packed full of nice veggies. Their naan breads are yum. All come as generous portions WITH a separate container of rice as well. Kids love dinner here too.

Very excellent service! We where delighted to have the pleasure to eat here, we felt welcomed as soon as we arrived. They allow you to taste the food to make the decision eater to pick, all though it’ll be hard to pick considering their food is all delicious and yummy. Tried this recently and couldn't wait to go back, so we did! Service from the owners is so warm and friendly, and the FOOD!!! 😍 Everything is perfectly balanced and the chef clearly loves and understands every ingredient. The rice is fluffy and fragrant, and the naan would make the dreamiest, softest pillow if they could make one big enough... Only you'd wake up pillowless from munching on it contentedly in your sleep. This is husband's new happy eating out place and I'm not far behind.

What can I say - Best Indian food I've had since leaving the UK six years ago. I've only tried the Lamb Biryani, but it was wonderful. Spice tailored to individual requests if required. HUGE amounts of lamb, which was so tender you could break apart with the back of a spoon. Cannot wait to go back and try more of the menu.

Always a pleasure to come to this place! The curries taste amazing and the service is wonderful as always. We were always given the option to do tasting of the curries on display. This should make the decision-making easier BUT when everything tastes good, there's no other choice but to get ALL of them. If I had to pick, the butter chicken is my favourite. The meals are reasonably priced and the quantity of food is just right. Their lunch special (2 curries half-and-half with rice) is what my family always opt for which usually ends up with us having a 6 type curry buffet. Don't miss the naan - the cheese and garlic is our favourite to dip into tbe leftover curry sauce. The owner always serves with a smile and cheerfully interacts with all customers, full of compliments and making customers feel special. Good food, good service, pleasant dining experience!

I must say, the hospitality by the lady who owns this place, Mary, was above and beyond I have experienced anywhere till date, even in my home country, India, which is known for it hospitality all over the world. She personally recommended the dishes to me and even gave me a spoonful of almost each food item that I wanted to taste. I cannot eat spicy food at all, so she personally made sure that the food caters to my taste. The food was delicious too. The chicken korma, the Bombay aloo and the indo Chinese dishes that I ordered were simply great! Mary even gave me one garlic naan for free with the order. I really enjoyed having a conversation with her as well! The whole place just was full of positive vibes and I can say with complete surety that I would definitely visit this restaurant again! Ordered takeaway and it was quite mediocre. The chicken and lamb were incredibly dry after clearly being cooked to oblivion. I'm not too sure if I was just given the wrong dish or if that is what their Madras is meant to be like but it was essentially a korma with a chilli on top. I have been to many restaurants which serve meals from different styles across India and this was the least enjoyable Madras and meal so far... I will see if ordering at a different time provides better food as I think although they're open for lunch it's just yesterday's dinner reheated..

Had lunch in this little restaurant today. First we are greeted by an amazing smile that welcomes you and makes you feel at home instantly - very attentive to what we would like to eat. After taking our orders we go find ourselves a table and sit down and the. The food arrives! Oh my lord! The flavours even managed to get thru my allergy ridden blocked nose and then you take a bite and the flavours all explode and send you to another level of euphoria. So if you’re looking for somewhere for some amazing Indian dishes this is the place to go! And the biggest plus of all is it won’t cost you an arm a leg or a kidney! So reasonably priced and well worth the visit!!

We have recently arrived in the suburb and decided to try one of the local restaurants. There's nothing I like better than Indian food having been brought up eating this type of food. Saaj did not let me down. The very obliging and friendly Mary helped me choose dishes that were vegan. There were three precooked. I chose two, along with the freshly made roti and vegetable biryani which I opted for spicy hot. I found the food absolutely delicious and will definitely be returning.

I'm going to go just over middle of the road on this one for now. The food is amazing and keeps the overall score high. You can see the kitchen and fresh naan bread and papdams cooked there. The place is well decorated and themed very nice. The front counter service however seems a bit off. Just maybe best described as a bit clumsy and just feels a bit awkward. Maybe the food hall/restaurant type thing just makes it like that. That is certainly no deal breaker. the food is what it is about and it does the job there.

Had takeaway from here a few times and a home delivery. The food is very tasty and plenty of choice but wow, they really skimp on the meat portions which is a shame as it detracts from the positives. Latest acquisition was a large beef Vindaloo. The container was filled a little short and I discovered only six cubes of meat beneath the gravy/sauce. Flavorsome (as I said) but I felt a little cheated. Had the same experience each time actually (butter chicken etc) so it is obviously the trend here. The rice dish, however, was filled to the brim.Obviously I don't expect the meat dish to contain only meat, but the six bits I did have were well and truly submerged beneath the liquid. ** in response to your response "You don't do home deliveries..." it was Uber - that's home delivery as far as I'm concerned.

I've been going here many months now for my lunch and I haven't been disappointed once with the quality and taste of the food. I highly recommend this place for lunch but also if you want to have a lovely curry with friends or family for dinner. As a Caucasian having lived and worked for 6 years with the largest Indian community outside of India anywhere in the world I came to appreciate traditional Indian food. Having lived in Australia for 12 years this is the first time I have eaten that same traditional food in an Indian restaurant that is run by authentic people with a passion for providing excellent food and service. Our family of 6 ate here tonight after my wife and I tried their takeaway meals a few weeks ago. What a wonderful experience!!. Even though their prices are exceptionally GOOD I would say that this team and their owner know how to keep it real while giving one the best, wholesome Indian food in Perth. Our whole family could not say enough about how good the food was. Beef, Chicken, Vegetarian and Lamb meals were fantastically prepared without a single piece of fat or oil being visible or tasted. The truly healthy Indian meals filled with balanced flavour in generous helpings. Well done to this fine team for doing what no one else in Perth can do!!

I went yesterday, I got the lamb Rogan josh for myself and asked for the Manchurian Prawns for my son both medium, my lamb was amazing. He couldn't eat his it was so hot, so tonight we exchanged meals I agree his prawns were so hot I had to eat yogurt and cucumber with it, believe me I like hot curries and usually go for the Vindaloo. Since Saaj has opened we have dined here five times. The last time we dined with friends from Sydney. Always a little worried when you recommend somewhere and rave about the food. I am pleased to say Saaj did not disappoint. Great staff, great atmosphere and amazing food!! Each time we have dined here the food has always been marvellous. Like to add we only order the vegetarian and fish options. Our friends ordered meat options and loved it too!! My husband would eat here every night if he could. This is the best curry we have had in Australia (was over east for 14 years pre Perth).

I ordered this takeaway on Uber Eats for my best friend’s birthday. There was some issue with the delivery person and 90 minutes after ordering, Uber Eats informed me that my order had been canceled! I was pretty upset as this was a way for me to treat my best friend (I live in Taiwan) and now it was nearly 8 pm— too late to order another dinner in time. Lo and behold, moments later my friend’s doorbell rang and there was an employee from the restaurant hand delivering it to her door! The issue was with the delivery partner, NOT the restaurant, but they went out of their way to provide excellent customer service and deliver their food in person. That’s pretty great service and on top of that, the food was delicious!

Staff are very friendly, the food is great and the lunch specials are a bargain. The only thing that I didn’t really like was that they didn’t have big bottles of tap water for the tables and so you had to ask the waitress to refill your cup each time. Other than that it was good service and food.

They even allow you to sample their curries in the Blaine Marie, which I have never seen any restaurant has done so far in Perth.. their portion size are larger so order wisely.. they also have $10 lunch specials with a curry and rice again big portion.. you can order curries from the Blaine Marie or ala carte.. but not sure if there is a price difference.. overall good experience so far.. found another good Indian joint in Clarkson- so happy days!!

This Indian is outstanding with loads of variety especially with their Chinese Indian curries. I once had beef pepper and the flavour was out of this world. The main reason it was not 5 star and my only criticism is the beef was a little tough and suggest you run with chicken but maybe was a once off. I have also eaten in from bain Marie for lunch and had the traditional Indian sitting in and what is most evident is the flavours and freshness are top notch. You also never see any oily residue floating on or around the meal and you can watch the chef strutt his stuff and always very clean and hygienic and this was pre covid. My only other criticism is my raita was not in my take away from my most recent meal but that is an accident and happens every 2nd time when I go through the drive through at Maccas or HJ's something is missing. All in all it is very well priced and only one other Indian restaurant (Chilli Farms in Woodvale rivals this food and restaurant. Give it a go, you won't regret it. Jason

Been to this restaurant from week 1 till now. At least once a week. So spoilt that they are local and whenever I'm tired we dine in here. My son loves their garlic naan and will only have that. Food is reasonable and very tasty. Can never convince my husband to eat in any Indian shop due to their reputation of reheating old curries, but rather convinced that Saaj cooks fresh daily. And the cleanliness is outstanding. Everytime you walk into the shop, you'll see the owner Abdul wiping something and that tells me how he handles food. I wish Saaj the best and to keep serving good food always with your lovely customer service! Btw we love his naans, chicken do pyaza ( he makes it extra spicy for my son) and Indo-chinese dishes. I'm going to get my Briyani now!! :)

Was looking for a place to have a beer and a briyani on a Saturday afternoon. Most of the Indian restaurants here dont open for lunch. Lucky for me, found this gem of a place. Ordered my favourite lamb briyani and a nice cold beer to go with. Later, got tempted to try the chicken lollipop as well. Food was really good. Came in piping hot. Its family run restaurant and they were very polite and friendly. The lamb meat was really soft and succulent. Chicken lollipop was also good but just had a little more masala in it. Great portions and decent pricing. Their menu card contains a plethora of indian dishes ranging from chaat to indo-Chinese fusion. Would def try it out again!!

What a coincidence!!This is the same Saaj restaurant that moved here from New Lynn,Auckland,NZ.This used to be our regular takeaway after shopping at Countdown.We moved here 3 years ago and missed a proper Indian place just like some Brits do after moving from london.Glad you guys are here.Dont change anything for Aussie palate as they are well exposed to Indian spices.Just ate your lamb roganjosh-Yum..next up beef vindaloo..we shall be back and bring our friends who have been missing out on authentic Indian food.
