Fantastic experience. Plenty of options on the menu both food and drink. Booths were comfortable and service was good. Paid just over $300 for 6 adults with alcoholic beverages and everyone left full and happy. My only gripe would be that there wasn't a lot of space for my Granny to walk through the restaurant with her Walker, so accessibility could be better. Overall a good experience.

Seated promptly despite not having a booking and table service was fast. Ordered our food and beers quickly. We opted for the Dallas share platter and added jalapeno poppers and fries. Everything was very tasty and cooked well. The blue cheese sauce was amazing. Would come back again

My partner and I went for lunch on a Sunday it was busy - but not too busy which was great. To start we ordered the jalapèno poppers which were quite big and not too hot - usually I don't eat them because they're too hot for me. For our main meal we ordered the Dallas share platter which came with: - chicken wings - pulled pork - brisket slices - pork belly lollipops - hush puppies (large, crumbed cornbread cubes mixed with cheese and jalapéno) & finally - coleslaw For sides we ordered the mac n cheese and cornbread. I ate most of the cornbread which was delish 😋 To drink we shared a jug of old fashioned American lemonade which I loved. The servers were attentive and polite and the decor was appropriate. Now, it sounds like a lot of food but we always take the leftovers home for dinner. The negatives; 1. The coleslaw was gross, literally the worst slaw I've ever eaten. We ate two spoons and didn't eat the rest which was a waste because it comes in a big bowl. 2. One slice of brisket was soft - the other slice - very dry. 3. The pork belly lollipops were hard and too big for my mouth, I had to cut them in half. 4. The wings, pulled pork and pork belly lollipops all had the same sauce on them which was a strange asian-satay style sauce not BBQ. 5. The taps in the bathroom were valve openings and the water came out very quickly and smelt like sewerage, there was an odd insense-like smell lingering. All-in-all, I have mixed feelings.

Come over for a quick bite, Sunday nite, 40% table occupied. Large table available. The rib portion is large, 400 g for 25 aud, reasonable and cheap. Sauce is bbq based with a touch of spicy, which is very smart, perfectly removes the oily and fat taste in the rib, but left a juicy feeling and crispy skin. Coleslaw taste like being positioned in fridge for a while, probably made in the morning. Overall taste above average . Something can be improved, I stand at the busy counter for over 2 mins, more than 2 waitress are free, but no one comes over until I called. This turns the restaurant to a deli shop. All above can gives a “can try when passing nearby” for this bbq shop, considering the food quality, smart cook and most of the friendly staffs. The star tick off: the owner/manager first sentence to me is : Uber eat?, other than simple greetings. I probably won’t come over again before work for uber eats. GLTA

Attended this place twice in my time in Perth. The first attendance (in 2019) was great. The food was amazing. Brisket was tender and cooked perfectly, and everything I tried was cooked to perfection. Fast forward to my second attendance (last week, December 2021) and to be frank, the quality of the product, has slid drastically for the worse. Brisket was over cooked and dry, the pulled pork and pull beef, somewhat underwhelming. The only redeeming products on the table were the pork belly pops and the chicken wings. Unsure if it was due to change in staff, or general practices in the kitchen, however some improvements may need to be made

Amazing food! The serves were great sizes for the money and good value. The cocktails are delicious and the atmosphere is welcoming and vibrant even om a rainy day. We felt welcomed and not rushed at all when ordering food and well looked after by the attentive staff.

18/12/2021: Went down for a late lunch with a group of 6. Apart from the pub crawl group who were sitting outside when we got there, we were the only ones there. We went with the Austin platter and the waiter warned us that it was usually for 4 or 5 people so we also ordered a bowl of chips as well. The food was good with the corn bread and hush puppies being the stand outs. All the meat was tender and juicey, even the brisket (although that usually depends on how you cut it). I was a bit disappointed that we only got 5 of each of the BBQ wings and the pork belly lollipops as the waiter knew that there were 6 of us and obviously didn't convey that to the kitchen. This is a small detail but not too hard to make sure you get right, for a relatively small cost. Everyone agreed that the Austin platter was enough food for the 6 of us. Pricing is not cheap considering the amount of competition that they have on Beaufort St. Worth a look if you are curious to try authentic American BBQ.

I think they need put different sauces on the meat. Otherwise chips was amazing. But I won’t come back here, just once enough.

2016/17 - Best BBQ in Perth A++ *Update* Sept 2020 Since dining at the place back in 2016 and dropping in a few times each year, I can say my last visit around Father's Day was a let down. Comparing the photos from last visits to now, there is a big drop in quality, extras and flavours. The Pork Lollipop's were 95% Fat The Ribs both beef & pork were excessively fatty The sausage this time was flavourless and full of gristle.. Hush puppies were dry and flavourless... The spices, rubs, meat flavours aren't like they used to be... I walked away feeling like not coming back I'm not sure what's changed, but I don't feel it's for the better. The staff and service are still excellent, just the food quality and love has dropped away...

Simply the best, most authentic American BBQ in Perth. The brisket is superb, the mac and cheese is delightful, the service is excellent and the beef short rib and pork ribs are divine. The sauces are legit (try the BBQ Espresso) and apparently the beetroot salad is next level - I couldn't fit it in unfortunately. Get down there!

Nice friendly feel walking in to the restaurant. Definitely looks busy for a Friday night. We ordered a platter to share. The one thing that's worth mentioning is the slow cooked beef brisket. It was tasty and melted in the mouth! Probably the only thing on the platter worth going back for. The other types of meat on the platter we found a little salty for outs taste.

For Saturday lunch we ordered takeaway to be picked up at 12pm. Upon entry my husband was impressed with their attentive and timely service. The menu sounded delicious so we decided to order a variety to try since we're not from the area. We ordered the brisket (180g), beef short ribs (500g), pork ribs St Louis cut (400g), smoked and pulled pork burger, Southern fried chicken thigh burger, and the SDB burger. Even after driving 25 mins to get home, the meats and burgers were warm! The smell of the smoke BBQ meat permeated the house and the pork ribs St Louis cut did not disappoint!!! It was juicy and tender and the sauce was finger picking goooood! The beef short ribs were fall-apart tender but lacked any sauce. The only sauce we got was a half filled small container as pictured. If they were more generous with the sauce this would have been as excellent as the pork ribs! The brisket was disappointing: two dry slices of meat void of any flavour, moisture or tenderness. The chicken burger remained crispy (impressive!) but was dry and lacked flavour. The slice of chicken thigh was also quite thin so the ratio of burger bun to chicken made it feel like i was just eating bread with batter. Moving on to the SDB burger, i would say it's average; a filling size for the price but nothing special. However, the smoked and pulled burger was sensational!! The coleslaw with the generous amount of juicy pulled pork was a flavour explosion in your mouth!! The combination worked so well and left you wanting more!! We will definitely return for the pulled pork burger and the pork and beef ribs, but this time we will know to ask for more sauce! Especially because takeaways give a 20% discount!

A little hidden gem we came across in Mt Lawley when looking for a place to eat. American themed throughout with popcorn to chomp whilst looking at the tasty menu. Plenty of seating ideal for large groups, but also cater for small groups and couples too. Food was incredibly tasty, look out for the lolly pop pork belly 😍😍. Staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us, you can tell there is a great culture at this venue which allows an awesome dining experience. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner.

My husband received a voucher from his footy girls as they know as a Yank he loves his bbq, corn bread and collard greens. When we got there we were welcomed with big smiles and very helpful staff. We ordered the pork lollipops as a starter. Was a little dry but tasty. The corn bread was okay. Needed some sugar to sweeten it up and maybe butter on the side. Pork ribs was more like Pork belly. Was tender and sweet. Had a sweet Asian like sauce. American style bbq sauce would have nailed it. Beef ribs were good. Top piece a little dry but underneath was tender. Needed bbq sauce which the server did mention. Sticky chicken wings was nice and spicy. Fried eggplant was so bland that it needed salt and pepper. Collard greens should be soft in a lot of liquid and maybe some Pork pieces or ham hock, but, it was firm parsley looking greens with green beans, broccoli and a cheesy liquid sauce. To top it all off the Coleslaw was disgusting and the potato salad was so Bland. Woolworths slaw and potato salad beats this for sure. Have no idea what Mayo they used but we had a spoon of each and wasted the rest. Amazing crew but I had to be honest in these reviews. Took the left over meat home as it wasn’t bad at all. I guess hubby will keep on cooking our bbq and soul food from now on. Toilets were clean but a funny smell coming from The drain. I actually like the valve like tap (different).

Ate here last night. Nice atmosphere. Family friendly and great for dates, solo eats, and friendly catch ups too. I love the booths. Food was delicious. You don't need to order a set share platter, you can build your own which is what we did. The BBQ home sauce is very good. Leftovers tasted delicious today. Not a lot of parking nearby but you should find something in one of the side streets. Happy BBQ to everyone!

This is my second visit to Side Door. Ww thought we'd go back and give it another try. But it wasn't the experience we were looking for. Let's start with what was good. The pulled Pork and The Pulled Chicken was great please try if you go here. But the BBQ beans with burnt ends. The worst I've ever had in my life. The beans were undercooked and had no taste or flavors to them. They were hard and dry. Really bad. The Hush puppies and the jalapeños peppers were bad as well. I've had great Hush puppies normally with catfish that's another story, but these Hush puppies were dry no taste or flavor very bland very bland. The peppers were hard and had very little taste at all to them. The Mac and cheese I really love Mac and cheese and what we got wasn't Mac Mac cheese it was pasta noodles mixed with cheese. It didn't have any levels to it, no flavor or taste just a cheese and noodle taste that's not Mac and cheese. I'd love to speak with you guys and work with you on your food because there's potential. One night I was craving for some good American BBQ but I had not been able to find an authentic one. When I read the comments here on Google, I decided to give this place a try. Well! My partner and I both were very delighted to try out Side Door Barbecue. We ordered a share platter, and the meats were well cooked and seasoned. Just beautiful! The downside for me is the hush puppies. They were not that same as what I had in the US for 7 years, but I cannot deny that they were still very yummy. The staffs were very attentive and great at recommending food :)

Food was great but what stood out the most was their excellent customer service. Every staff member we encountered was extremely helpful, approachable and friendly. We shared that we were celebrating a birthday when we came in and when we went to pay the bill at the end of the night they shared how they had planned to surprise us with a dessert and insisted we take it home with us. The waitress even ran out to my friend to exclaim "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" which was absolutely hilarious and heart warming. Will definitely continue to come back and recommend to others

We must have come on an off night, because the other reviews don't reflect the experience myself and two friends had last night.. The service was great, staff very friendly, no worries there. The food however was very underwhelming.. The brisket should have been the star, but was exceptionally dry and chewy much to my disappointment, and the mac and cheese balls would have been perfect if there was actually any cheesiness. Texture, crunch and presentation all great but no flavour at all. The pork belly pops did have great flavour but again were so chewy I nearly gave up. The chicken wings were surprisingly good, super crunchy and tasty, and the pork ribs were delicious. Dessert was the key lime pie, and while tasty the crust was huge and took away from the flavour. A little disappointing. All in all roughly half the meal was good and the other half bad, and for the price we paid, all three of us left feeling like we wouldn't be back. If the brisket was decent I think it might have saved the meal, but no such luck.

Top notch service and food! Staff were so patient in explaining the menu and providing colour pencils for toddler. Food portions are humongous. Platter for X is more like platter for 2X. The brisket, fries, chicken wings were all to die for, especially with that chipotle like sauve. I want to go back for that brisket again and the raved ribs! Given the portions and quality of food, it's great value for money.

Went last night. We waited over an hour for our food to come. Had a hard time getting the attention of servers. For some time it felt like no meals were leaving the kitchen. We realised later they were, it's just that they were all for delivery. Clearly, they had priority. Drinks overly sweet. Food was ok but some not hot. Des and Reuben ( staff) were very accommodating to special dietary requirements but by the time we finally got our food, the special occasion we were celebrating was kind of ruined and our appetites had gone. Sorry but we won't be back

Take it from me I've been to texas quite a few times. I've been to the world famous Franklin bbq and to Salt lick and to pecan lodge. And I'm telling you side door is right up there with them. If your in Perth it's a must. I'm from Melbourne and it kills all the bbqs there and it's as good as any bbq you will get in texas. I love that place. And the owner is just so nice and cares about your experience there. LOOK NO FURTHER GO TO THE SIDE DOOR. I promise the bbq is world class. Wish I could give it a thousand stars.

Great value. If you are ready to experience the best of low and slow cooked meat, then this place is for you. We attended with two kids, two adults, and bought a HUGE meat platter that we couldn't finish, with a starter, and drinks, for $120.00. This place is value that you cannot beat and they really make smokey deliciousness. This gushingly good review is not fake, it is completely honest. Look at my other reviews I rarely rave, and am a hard marker, so this endorsement is as good as it gets.

Went for my traditional bday ribs , the service was good on a busy Saturday evening but they took care of us and the meals were great. Finally made it out to Side Door Barbecue to celebrate a friend's birthday. The place was packed, the atmosphere was great, and the food was an experience of its own! With staff expertly managing the hustle and bustle, we were able to approach any seemlingly available staff to add extra drink orders, or clear away a few empty dishes as we made room for more of Side Door's amazing menu. The menu reminded me of an Americana-style steak house - portions were generous, flavours were immaculate and the meat was cooked to perfection. Our table was filled with dishes as we all made our way through the generous servings, and while we intended to keep left overs, the food was just too good! Upon leaving we were also happy to find split-billing available, and our friend enjoyed her dessert on the house as a birthday courtesy. Thanks Side Door! 5 stars!

Yeah this place is good. I've tried a few menu items, and everything I've tried has been delicious. The St Louis Cut is mental, and the Mac n cheese is off its head. When you're seated you get some tasty bacon popcorn. It's a treat. Getting seated has never been an issue for us as a couple, though you'll want to book for a group. Great location in Mt Lawley. It is a bit pricey so keep that in mind, but you pay good money for good food. The service has always been really pleasant as well, which is a big plus. Go forth and eat.

Even though it was super busy we were greeted by friendly helpful staff who made the ordering process easy, they took drinks orders and came back to get more drinks orders when we were just about done with the first round. They were attentive to our needs and accomodated additional people for our table as well. The food itself it incredible, and even though it's not 'cheap' it certainly filled our tummies. I don't mind paying more for quality when it's a big serving. The platter for 4 can feed 6 or 7 people, seriously!! We had 7 people, ordered the platter for 4 and platter for 2 and a couple of sides, there was heaps left over. Highly recommended and please don't change anything!!

The best bbq in Perth, period! We've tried similar places but nothing comes close to Side Door BBQ. Favourites are the beef rib, brisket, and jalapeno poppers. The portion sizes are also very generous. We are regulars and the staff always ensure we are looked after to the highest degree.

Went on a Thursday night in a group of 4. The staff and customer service were excellent, as was the food. Very enjoyable. Only reason it misses the 5th Star is that we were overcharged $70 for food which is huge. This was of course refunded when we questioned it. However apparently it happens all the time. So even in you've had a few drinks, be sure to go over your bill in detail before you pay to avoid it happening. Otherwise was a great night and would happily go back.

Holy wow... the brisket from these guys is amazingly tender. I was able to pull it apart with my fingers! It's damned good and damned tasty. The BBQ sauce they do is amazing as well, so smoky and spicy at the same time. And then the chipotle mayo as well. Parking in the area can be a bit iffy, but there is a bus stop within 100mtrs, so utilising public transport is the way to go, and let's face it, last time I was there I needed to walk of all that yummy meat afterwards. Corn bread is to die for. Meats are pretty good, what you'd expect for American BBQ style food. They also do home made traditional drinks, of which I recommend the y'all Americal lemonade, with some Hendrick's gin to tone down the lemon, with mint and cucumber. Very refreshing and, the Nana's sweet tea, a lovely sweet, peach flavour with a bit of pear. Will be coming back again for sure once my cholesterol levels come down.

The ribs. Are to die for. I don't think ive had pork ribs with the fat rendered, meat soft but firm and smokiness as perfect as i did on friday. But. Was really cut when I went back on Monday and got half the perfection I experienced. I hope that the next time I return it'll be just as good but I'm beginning to think the place has it's moments and slip-ups. Never been a fan of the wings here and after awhile the food becomes very one-dimensional with the same bbq sauce with all the meats. Beef ribs and pork ribs were perfect. Pulled pork was just the right point between too dry and mush. Brisket was hit and miss, but overall juiciness I'd give a passing mark! Pork belly lollipops were perfectly glazed. Good softness but still firming enough to sink your teeth into Overall great joint! Still a little bitter from my Monday visit and hope it isn't cause they're using leftover meats from the weekend.

Food is OK, but a lot of elements need a lot of work. We went for lunch with friends. Got the platter for 4. Was plenty of food. Pork belly lollipops, wings, mac n cheese and cornbread were good. Pulled pork was average, quite dry and very cold. Beef ribs were ok but had the top cap on with loads of fat which kind of ruined them. Brisket was under cooked, tough and had very little flavour. And one slice for 4 people?! Ok, it was a big slice, but really? The pork ribs were not smoked at all. Probably boiled and char grilled, quite tough and lacking any flavour other than char. The creamed corn was TERRIBLE! Very over-smokey and frankly inedible. Overall a bit disappointing for home BBQers, but still a decent feed that most would probably really enjoy.

Got the platter for 2. Everything tasted the same. Overpowering bbq sauce flavour. Cool idea though. Meat was well cooked and will go again. Just a tip to the waitstaff..you don't have to tell us the white wine is on the left, the reds in the middle and the cocktails are on the right on the menu. We can see that. Just point out the favourites. Also for first time bbq eaters maybe explain what the random stuff was that was on the table, like the bucket (we assume was for bones/skewers) and the little water trough thing with white capsules. Gave an extra star because it was a kinda harsh review but will definitely give it another try.

I think we had an out of body experience of sacred proportions. And by the way, big props for the portions. Let's start with the southern fried chicken wings with homemade side sauce which the chef creates lovingly over a 24 hour period. The sauce was a rich in colour and sent our mouths somewhere else. Mouthgasmic! We dipped incessantly. We thought this was the sacred moment of the decade until the pulled chicken and slaw burgers arrived with homemade chips and an assortment of fresh pickled veg on the side. Well...the smokey flavour of the pulled chicken caused much eye fluttering and gasps of disbelief from us both! Literally shaking our heads at all the incredible flavours we were tasting. Three sauces were placed on our table, house bbq, espresso bbq and the murderously delicious, Badass! All three were a cacophony of flavour, heaven! To top all off out from the moment we walked in the door we were greeeted with the most friendly genuine staff service. From our waitress to extraordinary Mangeress on duty today. She rocks! Give that woman a raise!! Thank you so much. We will be back with all our friends! ❤️

Collard greens, baked beans, coleslaw and mac & cheese are all authentic and tasty. Key Lime pie is to live for. * For those who know their bbq, this is wet bbq, like in St Louis or Memphis, not dry smoked bbq, like in Texas. (I am about to lose my taste, due to radioactive iodine for cancer. The last thing I wanted to eat, while I can taste, was Side Door bbq.)

AMAZING! ...been there twice and planning a 3rd trip, ...you really have to try it for yourself.... i am quite sure you are all reading up on everybody's take of the restaurant...forget the reviews...go on and try it for yourself...it's that damn good...so good that we begged to be seated outside on a cold damp night because i forgot to book....yes the food was that good that we were going to tolerate the conditions....the price...people there is a menu with the prices written in there in numerical characters..you can't read numbers?.....stop being cheap $40 pp for all that food.... but you're willing to spend $40 dollars on a 25--300gm steak with a small scoop of mash and a tablespoon of gravy?... come on...don't be a dummy...you work hard for that money you deserve better....i don't get all the crying about how expensive it is...it's not expensive...and if you're complaining about the "taste", "flavour" ...admit it...you just don't have a pallet ...you're the kind of person that thinks Hungry Jacks is gourmet ...stop being a pretentious idiot and start living life positively and happy....then you won't be so miserable all the time,...me on the other hand...i'm very happy ...it's about time Perth has a real genuine BBQ/Steakhouse they can call their own...I Love You SD BBQ ...I Love You with all my heart.
