Friends have spoken about the Karalee for months. Very impressed staff were lovely, orders were taken quickly. I've been told that the Karalee had the best steak sandwich, and yez they did, steak was tender, bread was light and easy to eat, the relish was to die for. Chilly muscles had the right amount of chilly. Garlic prawns were good, can't go wrong with them Over all, lovely meals, And best steak sandwich

Holy moly, what an amazing place to eat at! The food was probably the tastiest food I've had in Perth, and for an amazing price! Had the Lamb Shanks, Garlic Prawns and the Pork Belly. Cannot recommend this place enough, can't wait to go back!

Just love it when I find a new favourite pub, mmmm honestly not sure I can call “The Karalee on Preston” a pub as the joint has an unusually refreshing & relaxed atmosphere coupled with an abundance of fabulous staff who are all so clearly invested in ensuring all patrons are well cared for. So many venues Ive visited in my extensive travels generally leave me wanting in one or more ares I value when eating out, the “Karalee” on my weeks break over several visits for lunches, dinners and beers were on point each and every time in every aspect, fantastic food, cold beers, amazing service, fair prices, clean and tidy venue. Thanks so much for looking after me this week guys cannot wait to visit again soon…..

It certainly didn't look like much from the outside when we arrived last night, but WOW what a difference when we went inside. The ambience was warm, welcoming atmosphere, a general buzz, but not overwhelming from all of the patrons inside. The staff were welcoming and friendly and happy to share a little banter when answering our questions. Drinks were reasonably priced and could be purchased by the glass or by the bottle. There were even quite a few more expensively priced bottles for those with a more discerning palate. A good mixture of local WA and SA wines, spoilt for choice. Then you're expected to select something for dinner! The selection is brilliant and varied. It accommodates choices for our vegan diners that is not limited to cauliflower soup! It also allows many choices for those jurassic carnivores and everyone inbetween. Prices were not cheap, but also didn't require you to take out a second mortgage to eat out. We'll be back and will certainly be putting on our regular place to eat list. The only warning I can offer is to book ahead!!

Recently been bar hopping around the area, I work bar at The Como, so always good to see what our “competitors” are up to. Service here is always friendly and prompt, beers always well poured and cold. Food is a little expensive but is always delicious and to a high standard! Seems to have a good core of regulars and always seems busy in peak times. Only real fault is it is pretty crammed and makes hard when you’re moving from the bar to go to the bathroom and back, could be a nightmare when it’s busy. Looking forward to visiting again soon! I recently went to a beer tasting and 4 course dinner night here and it was 10/10. Such a good atmosphere, it wasn’t too pretentious like some of these can be. Very informal vibe with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food was amazing and paired very well with the beers! Will definitely be there next time!

Lovely view of the river. Excellent service and great big serve of yummy pub food. We had a large party table and we were all looked after very well and had a lovely Sunday lunch with drinks and yummy looking desserts. Children well accommodated with activity packs, kids menu and high chairs.

First time at The Karalee last Friday and all I can say is WOW. The reputation of Perth’s best steak sandwich in 2014 and 2017 got us there and we were not disappointed at all. The scotch fillet used was cooked to perfection, it wasn’t too large to handle or overloaded, it came with a basket of chips and to my surprise....a few little pieces of pork crackle. Have a look at the pork belly photo that one of our guests ordered, I’ve never seen portions that size EVER and I need to return to try it. Even the Chicken Caesar salad looked yum and was huge. With awesome views of the river and glimpses of the city skyline this is a great lunch venue with attentive staff, table service and reasonable prices. We’ll be back for sure.

Top notch pub food! We went for a mid week family dinner and were surprised at how busy this place was. After tasting the food we understood why. My advice, definitely make a booking. The dish of the night goes to the Pork Belly, with the Steak Sandwhich a close second. The Karalee have nailed both of the dishes, crafting something delicious and unique. One improvement would be a few extra waiters. We had to wait a little while between drinks. Other than that, it was a great night out.

The restaurant boasts about being the best when it comes to steak burgers, and they ain’t wrong! A bit pricy since the steak burger comes with chips and a side of pork crackles but nevertheless not a bad compromise for the special moments within your tastebuds! Customer service is great and the bartenders are really kind and always up for a nice talk too. Love this place !!

Well.... you can see why this place wins so many awards. We dropped in for lunch today (Friday) and i asked if we had to book because the place was packed at 11.30am. (We thought we would get in early) With a smile the lady serving us said "No love, you can just take a seat here... how many of you are there?" Someone came straight over and asked to take the drinks order and explained we had to go to the bar and they will take our food order. What felt like 30 second went past and the drinks were at the table, and again... what felt like a minute or so and the food was on the table. Hot, a good amount of spice, it wasn't loud, the staff kept checking on us for drinks, 1.5 hours went past in a flash and we had to go. I can certainly see why this place would have people hanging around all day. If I didn't have anywhere else to go for the next meeting.... I might have stayed a few more hours. Upon reflection, I should have cancelled the next meeting and got them to meet me here. Great place for a Friday lunch. Warning: The portion sizes are massive. If you don't want to have a food baby where all you want to do is sleep after a great meal, select from the kids menu, or just by an appetizer for lunch. Great value meals.

This Tavern has a broad menu with an excellent variety and selection of food. The atmosphere and environment is pleasant. The staff provide table service and are friendly and polite. The views from the restaurant are pleasing. Being a Tavern there is a great selection of beverages to choose from. There is ample free parking. It's a great place to meet with friends or family for any sort of catch-up.

Food was great, finally got that chicken parmy I've been searching for. I've travelled to multiple different pubs to find exactly what I had tonight. Cheesy, full of flavor, chicken melted in my mouth, the sauce wow, and the fries came piping hot. The salad was well done too. Would recommend. Only complaint was no table service which got confused as we ordered drinks to the table and had to go pay for the food at the service counter. It wasn't mentioned, I'd rate a 4.5 if I could.

Took the family here on the weekend and was really impressed with the service we received. On arrival the kids received an activity pad to keep them entertained and my wife and I were promptly served our drinks. Food was fresh and delicious. We ordered the rib eye with king prawns along with the lamb shanks and couldn’t fault either of them. Kids meals were large and kept them happy. Highly recommend checking this place out. Happy staff definitely filters into happy customers. We will be back for sure.

Our table ordered two rib eye steaks medium rare. Both came out overcooked and dry, one was well done and the other was medium well. The steak sandwich was good and is apparently their speciality. Kids steak and chips / fish and chips were great value and well cooked and came with a complimentary soft drink and icecream. Staff were attentive and gave feedback to the chef about the overcooked steaks. One free drink was offered for the overcooked steaks. May return but will not be ordering the rib eye again.

I do like this place. Easy location, friendly staff, well priced and really good food. Their burgers and steak sandwich are a stand out - hence why they win awards for them. The food here is typical pub food and very average at that. We had a few different meals ordered at our table. 1. The ribs were very disappointing. The meat was broiled and tastless. Reading all the other steak sandwich reviews there must have been a different chef working last night! The taste was lovely and the steak was tender, but unfortunately surrounded by gristly fat. Would have been a 10/10 if gristle was trimmed. Three of us had the sandwich and all said the same thing. When the sport finished they left the TVs on and played distracting music videos. Great location though and lovely staff!

The service here is just as good as the food. While you have to go to the counter to order your meal (no problems if you are aware) the staff here are friendly and welcoming and a pure delight to experience. The food is delicious and after having been here a few times, i have never had anything less than stellar coming out of the kitchen. Hugely recommended to check out for the staff, the quality of the food and chefs who know how to cook everything properly coming out ofntheir kitchen and great sized meals for the price

Based on the reviews and photos thought we would have a really good food and eating experience. We pre-booked but turned out we didn’t need to do this and the booking was with a request and we didn’t get a reply or confirmation on arrival. The request wasn’t met and if anything a big let down based on the other options we had been considering. The service and hospitality was friendly and good can’t be critical of this. But the food wasn’t great and based on the reviews this was really disappointing and misleading. The steak sandwich was ok but fatty and the Godfather burger was actually better tasting but not as good as a Varsity burger. The lemon meringue ok but not anything to rave about. Conclusion we came away slightly disappointed to be honest which is a real shame as we wanted a good feed and eating experience. It felt as though we had been in a sports bar with the locals and having a regular pub grub meal. Gutted as you can tell the owners are passionate about what they do!

The steak sandwich really was amazing, the drinks were nice but we ordered a 'virgin summer passion' and what we received was more like pure lemon juice with a dried lemon slice. I mean, my girlfriend didn't like it, so I swapped my lemon lime and bitters with her and she was happy and I like really sour drinks so it all worked out but for others, just a warning to maybe try the bottled drinks, as the bartender obviously didn't know how to mix the drink properly.

Okay food, it’s a great place to hang out with your mates and family. I came here with my fiancé to celebrate his birthday and it was quite full when we were there mainly due to World Cup rugby final. It can get pretty noisy during happy hours as it is a tavern after all. Great customer service and the waitresses were pretty attentive. I might just give the burger a miss next time when I visit Karalee again. The barramundi was pretty ordinary to be honest, normal chips. Don’t expect too much when it comes to food. Alright experience.

The Karalee is the epitome of a Pub Diner. You don't come here for the fine dining experience but you definitely get more than what you pay for...A nice steak sandwich with a great view for example- albeit most of the times I visit it's a little too noisy (it IS a pub after all). Solid choice for those who don't want a shock when they go to pay after a good meal with a cold beer.

My wife's meat was nice but had to send back the vegetables as the Broccoli had not been washed properly and had sand in it. They didn't dispute it, they replaced it and were extra attentive. Can't fault the service at all. The atmosphere was great, loud enough to have atmosphere but still able to talk and hear each other well, even when the Soccer is being played in the back ground. I ate here yesterday (Sunday)with my family. The service was excellent (friendly, efficient but not intrusive) and the chef's special - grilled snapper (a lovely, big fillet) on sweet potato mash with wilted spinach and grilled asparagus was excellent. Sweets are well priced and there's a good choice - if you have room after the very generous servings. Highly recommended !!

The one resturant/pub that I can't fault in any way. The staff are very friendly, polite, quick to serve, on top of their game as hosts and servers go. The food is the best tasting food I have ever tasted from a resturant/pub and the portions are great. The menu has variety and tastes. The atmosphere and experience is want you want when eating out whether it's by yourself, on a date or with a group. A must for everyone.

Quite a nice venue. Some of the food tends to be a bit too much on the sugary side. I'd personally prefer the steak sandwich to have a more savory BBQ sauce but it's more like liquid brown sugar - needs more vinegar or something. The same with the plum sauce on the pork belly - way, way too sweet. I'd prefer something acidic to balance the belly fat (pickled something, sauerkraut maybe?). Some of their other food is really good though like the fish and chips, they were totally awesome - so my main suggestion is reducing how sugary some of the sauces are.

Brilliant restaurant. We had a shared platter, garlic prawns and bruschetta. All 3 were generous sizings and perfect. The garlic prawns were the best! Had the most delicious steak sandwich I have ever tasted. Delicious tender steak, tasty cheese, lettuce, tomato and fabulous sauces on a lightly toasted Turkish bun. The steak sandwich is the absolute best. It works so well with the talented chef placing the lettuce and tomato on the bottom of the sandwich bread and this gives you the full burst of flavour of the perfectly cooked fillet steak hitting your tastebuds first and then you get the crunch from the lettuce and fresh tomato (dont know where he gets his tomato's or fresh produce from as always it must be from heaven as the salads here are always the best you could ever tried so fresh so so tasty. This steak sandwich is probably best eaten, as i did on an empty stomach having missed lunch I am very pleased to have eaten the whole sandwich and chips and am very happy I got to savour every bite. Seriously I highly recommend this steak sandwich is worth waiting for, it's just Devine. Compliments to the amazing chef. Well done 💯

In fact, the food menu is like that rare kind of music album where every song on the album is awesome. Yeah.
