First time we came here and got a seat fast, and food came very quickly. We had the pesto chicken pizza and bufala pizza. Both were so so tasty!! We loved it so we came back for fathers day. This time we had a big group and i think the service was much slower - we didn't get our seats right away despite booking. We had a dish missing and had to ask the waiters a few times to ask about our dishes. The pastas were undercooked (we had 4 pasta dishes and all were under)... So we were half disappointed. I would come back for pizza any time! Pastas are a maybe - probably would ask for it to be cooked a bit longer. We really liked the flavours of the truffle ravioli!!

Went here for the first time for raclette night and while they didn't have our special request ready they quickly accommodated. Raclette was generous, the cold meats were generous, the breads warm (and gluten free), the service was so friendly and would absolutely go again. Good value!

Really great restaurant with amazing food. Staff was so friendly and helpful. They provide highchairs and cutleries for the little ones. There is a bit of space outside for the kids to play. Pizza and pasta dishes were very tasty and so was the kids meal. We asked for gnocchi bolognese instead of linguine for our toddler and they were very accommodating. Will definitely be back.

The most delicious food I have ever eaten(!!!) The service was impeccable, professional but you were made to feel like family. Espresso martini was strong, full of flavour and a thick crema, Limoncello spritz was refreshing and generously sized also. Who knew garlic bread could be so perfect? A gorgeous balance of garlic and oils, paired beautifully with the juiciest Sicilian and kalamata olives. We had the gnocchi sorrentino and truffle ravioli - I can’t stress this enough as being the most mouth watering divine handmade pasta I have ever tasted!! Gnocchi was heavenly, soft and fluffy, melted away like fairy floss and perfectly complimented with gorgeous pomodoro. If you eat anywhere in Perth, let it be here. I can’t wait to be back, I’m in love!

No doubt the food is great however I have a constructive feedback regarding the service. In a cold winter night when your guest arrives say 5 minutes earlier it’s not professional to keep them waiting longer than their booking time without offering any warm space outside when clearly there are number of unoccupied seats inside. Unfortunately it was not the first time we faced such thing. Something to consider to set your service standard as good as your food.

EDITED: Came to celebrate my daughter's 25th birthday. 5 of us but waiter only put in 4 orders; omitting the birthday girl! Very lax service as we had to point out the missing meal. We had all finished our meals well before her chilli mussels arrived. Waiter apologised with a Baci chocolate but by then the mood was spoiled and we declined dessert to go elsewhere. A more generous apology would have kept us there. Such a shame as the food was up to it's usual high standard. This review has been changed from 2 to 5 stars due to the prompt and generous offer of a complete meal + drink for my daughter. We'll definitely be back!

My partner and I made a booking here for 7pm on a Saturday night. It was quite busy when we arrived so making a reservation was well worth it. They had a nice selection of meals and drinks. We had the bruschetta (entree but it was quite big), gnocchi, penne and a drink each. We paid about $85 in total which we didn't think was too bad. The food was tasty and the servings were a decent size so definitely arrive on an empty stomach! They also offer desserts and coffees.

Absolutely loved it. We’d known about Woodpeckers for years. But never went. Last Saturday we gave it a go. And what a surprise it was. Super friendly staff. Felt very welcome. The way Italian restaurants can. We didn’t have a reservation (not recommended- we didn’t know better). But we were there early enough to find a table for an hour an a bit. The food? It was delicious. Loved the pizzas. Very generous sizes. Taste... what you expect from an Italian wood fired pizza. Delicious. A friend of ours had the risotto and absolutely loved. She having the risotto again next time. As to my wife, the kids and I will be back very soon. We loved. The prices were very different. We’re waiting years again!

The first place when I think of craving for pizza in Subiaco. The truffle prosciutto Pizza was chewy, served with a good portion and generous amount of truffle oil. The service was friendly too.

Went for dinner with my husband and had Ravioli Tartufati and Stuffed Squid. Both were absolutely delicious. Then we finished with the best creme brûlée we have ever had. I went there when it opened and again a year ke two later. Their food is consistently good. The pizzas especially have a really nice base. You can eat inside our out in the courtyard. It's a good idea to call ahead if you are going during dinner because it can get busy.

Best Italian Restaurant in Subiaco Some friends and I just popped into Woodpeckers today for an impromptu lunch and great Italian food. Needless to say we were all very impressed. Their super friendly and welcoming staff made us feel right at home without to much fuss. They have an extensive and authentic Italian menu with some fantastic options. I can highly recommended the Linguini Aglio Olio (with very tasty prawns as an option). I did look at the wood fired pizza options as well and will be trying one of them next time for sure. Thanks!

I booked online, i had been there prior for Valentines day with my partner. Excited to go again, i took my partner and his family. Service 10/10- the staff were tentative and energetic/friendly. It was a really welcoming and comfortable experience. Food 10/10 - couldn’t fault it, every dish was perfection and i dont think you could choose wrong! A very enjoyable experience can be hear at Woodpeckers. Wide range of meals including pizzas, pastas, risotto and so much more. A test of an Italian restaurant is the Arancini balls and theirs are devine. Owner Don and staff provide meticulous Italian service. 15 of us arrived for my wife's birthday and we all enjoyed the night! Have been back since and still faultless. Aramco balls bellisimo, and so are the pizzas. Dessert ... well can't go past the tiramisu!

Me and my Partner had such a wonderful experience at the woodpeckers. My partner had booked for our 3rd year anniversary on the 5th of June as a surprise for me as I have wanted to go to the woodpeckers for over a year; however he got the Friday's mixed up so he thought it was yesterday. The manager and the staff members were so kind that they let us eat in anyway. The food was incredible and the eggplant parmigiana tasted as good as my Nonna's. My partner is an apprentice chef and he was so amazed and inspired by the food and the venue. We enjoyed our time here and can't wait to come back on the 5th of June.

Live very north of the river, so not down in Subi that often. But get to this place whenever we can. The pizzas are the best in Perth IMHO. The bases are thin and flavoursome, and the toppings delicious without being OTT. Red wines I’ve tried there are also nice. Definitely highly recommend.

Whilst there is a whole lot of “average”, this is one of those places where you will really enjoy both the food and the experience!

The food here I had is pretty good and worth returning for. On Sunday night it was full so staff were busy, but staff were honest and mushroom risotto was really yummy. Coffee is also good. They are open at lunch time with cheaper menu. When I return I will try "fresh" seafood but will be wary of overeating.

The raclette is amazing (even though we didn't get the cornichons the menu promises). The cheese itself is delicious, and all 3 meats were some of the best I've had, I imagine they'd be great on pizza too. We thought we'd have to have raitioned cheese and a person scraping for us but they gave us a big half wheel and let us do it ourselves, and we were allowed the whole bit of cheese on our table. It was obviously a great experience, but the food was also amazing. Considering the ingredients $40 per person is not unreasonable.

Was passing through Subiaco with a friend a few weeks ago...we noticed the Woodpecker sign from Roberts Road so decided to stop and try it out. From being greeted at the door and being seated 10 minutes later (we decided to wait for a table), right up until we left an hour and a half later, we were extremely impressed with all the place had to offer. Fabulous, authentic (Italian) and attentive service, a great menu (had pizza and salad to share...topped off with an amazing Crepe Suzette and a wonderful coffee - best this side of Emidio's Italian home-town, I'm sure!!!) AND BYO!!! Couldn't fault anything at all...comes VERY highly recommended...just wished I lived closer!! :)

Great place for a bit to eat, parking can be a little tricky if your driving through. I got parked just two streets away so was only a 2 minutes walk away. The service was quick and staff were very friendly and helpful. They have seating both inside and outside. Can take away any leftovers which is also a brilliant idea to stop waste. Have eaten at woodpeckers regularly for a few years (also when they used to be on Hay st) One of the best chicken parmys in Perth. Garlic bread is top notch, always have to order a side of that. Good wood fired pizzas and the pastas are always excellent. I enjoy sitting at the outside tables on warm summer nights with a red wine and good food.

Garlic bread is fantastic! The pizzas however were quite mediocre. The crust is decent, has a nice chew and good flavor. The quality of toppings left a bit to be desired though. For the margarita I would expect some quality fior di latte and san marzano tomatoes but this was not the case. Toppings were just a step above Dominos. What a shame.

We love the food at Woodpeckers. Last time we went, there was a large table who were very loud and disruptive. One man was particularly rude. The staff did an amazing job of politely trying to quiet the table and gave us a free dessert to apologise for the rude table. All the staff are absolutely wonderful and I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Another fantastic meal! The polenta and mushrooms with truffles was sublime-crunchy slices of fried polenta smothered in a creamy fungi sauce with the truffle adding that special something. And then a delicious seafood pizza with the crust charred in the wood fired oven and a quality mix of sea food (which included clams in their shells) with lashings of garlic and parsley-fabulous fresh flavour. A great night for me and the misses!

Amazing melted cheese machine on our table (raccette) with a HUGE plate of things to melt it onto! Brilliant and enormous bowl of spaghetti carbonara ordered by the friend my partner and I took there, and wonderful desserts too! It was all amazing quality food, with wonderful serving staff, very helpful overall and entirely understanding about my service animal Tiberius- a blue & gold Macaw, accompanying us in his Avian Fashions flightsuit-nappy: a black tuxedo with tails!!! The scent of the melting cheese machines on the tables was so alluring we could hardly wait our turn with one... good thing we prebooked for havibg the raccette as it's the most popular dish in the house and you need to prebook for a machine to be available for your table! My partner found the waitstaff very friendly and our friend wished he too had ordered the melting cheese machine Raccette, despite his carbonara being exquisite, he said! Well worth the trip up from Bunbury to experience, and we all will certainly be returning, both as a group and with other people in tow!!! ☆☆☆☆☆ Five stars Woodpeckers, from a reknown, hard-to-please international foodie!
