Good food and good value. Staff were okay. The pizzas we had were the vegetarian, the Mediterranean, the Mungo Brush, the Smoked Salmon and the Mexican. The favourite was the Mexican but all were nice. The Mediterranean was a little dry. We had Somersbys apple cider, Asahi black beer and the Espresso martini which was very nice. The cocktails board below the bar had an assortment of cocktails from $10-20 each. Good location near the beach and kids playground for an after dinner walk. Plenty of parking in the parking lot across the road. Toilets in the restaurant were clean. No happy hour and not able to take dine and discover vouchers despite advertising that they accept them.

Benchmark was a great option for us on a Monday night a few days before Christmas. The service is very laid back, no bookings, help yourself to a table and the like. The beer was cold and the meals were fine. My steak was excellent (one of the best pub steaks I've had recently) and while there was an issue with another meal, it was fixed quickly and easily with a quick conversation. Plenty of space for a large group. For good pub food it's one of the better options in Hawks Nest. Just don't expect 5-star service - you're in a small country village after all.

Lovely bar right in the middle of Hawks Nest. The lasagna was amazing, so definitely a must to try! I also tried the mojito which was good and a great size as well!

We had breakfast, ordered, waited 15 mins, our buzzer went off only to be told ,sorry we're out of sausages! Then waited another another 20mins for dry scrambled eggs, but the extras were ok. Well priced for serving size. Went back for dinner 2 nights later, 2x small oval platter of bosciola {dry pasta but ok flavour ($18each)}, 1 stack of 3 burnt ribs! ($30). Lasagna (good serving) and pizza good. It was only 7pmish and they stopped taking orders for everything except pizzas! They replaced the ribs with 2 stacks, 2 free drinks and a refund-which was very good of them. Service was good, even though they were busy.

A rainy Thursday evening in Hawks Nest. Where to try for a beer and a light meal? Off to the Benchmark and pleasantly surprised. Full of locals and families (always a good sign). Relaxed atmosphere, cold beer, excellent food and friendly service. A little noisy, but then everyone was enjoying winding down at end of working day. Benchmark has great vibes and is recommended for a casual 'meet up', a glass or three and a delicious meal.

What a great little secret in Hawks Nest. This bar was perfect for dinner and afternoon drinks. Love, love, love that dogs are allowed in the outdoor areas. Food was fabulous, beer was cold and the staff were awesome. Well done.

It's pretty good for a sit in or take away Pizza and the Pizza prices are pretty reasonable. Other meals are a bit pricey and the experience is very dependent on how busy they are and what season you are in. We have had every experience from great to terrible, but we keep coming back. Definitely could be a bit cleaner, but if you're not that fussy it's a decent place to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.

I'm a regular visitor to the benchmark for breakfast on Friday mornings midway through our group pushbike ride. Also during the week with great value pizzas on offer. Good coffee and alcohol if that's your thing. The proprietor is usually on site..

Hey what a surprise this place was. We just rocked up for a late lunch and the food was delicious. Great little cafe close to the beach - fully licensed as well. We will definitely be back on our next Sunday drive.

Staff are friendly and helpful. No IPAs but Larry is enjoying his Coco Pops dark ale with a supreme pizza. Washes it down well. The Benchmark ale is an acceptable alternative... still prefer IPA. A lovely spot for a refreshment.

Love this place. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all amazing. The staff are really friendly and the place is COVID compliant. Everything is delicious but I especially recommend the prawn, haloumi and prosciutto skewers and their chips are the best I've ever had.

Service was excellent and we enjoyed a lovely evening here. We visited on a very busy evening when covid restrictions meant that many people couldn't be accommodated. In spite of this the service at the bar and food collection station was friendly and pleasant throughout. Our meals were delicious and there were a good range of craft beers available. Really pleasant, professionally run pub/restaurant, would visit again.

A place this good is let down by clinical, emotionless service. The food is quite good but if you stand behind a bar in the company of your co-workers ... DO NOT TALK ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL GRIPES. I will be back tomorrow for an improved outlook on this place I hope.

Excellent food the two older ladies from wed night were so friendly and suit their roles as of the young girl well she wasn’t as welcoming and maybe should get herself a office job where she is away from people. I believe if you want to work in customer service you should have good people skills which she didn’t. Im sure she wont last in that job. Definitely recommend the place the food is delicious I definitely will be back.

I understand that the times we currently live in are not the best, when protocols are put in place by the authorities these are to be adhered to, we were at the Benchmark for breakfast & while we were sitting there were 7 people came in for take away coffee & another 3 dinning in and none of these patrons Signed in as per COVID-19 protocols, staff may not have seen although the question should have been asked, I don't care where you go YOU MUST ADHERE TO THESE PROTOLS for everyones safety

Really do enjoy going to the Benchmark. Happy hour 5-6 every afternoon with great value bar snacks. Good breakfasts. Great pub food. The very best thing? No poker machines!! Huge enhancement to the ambience.

Lots to like about this place. Thumbs up Food was overall very tasty, everyone in our group were pretty happy and enjoyed their meals. Ordered garlic bread, crispy skin pork belly, lemon pepper squid and a parmy. Only thing was crispy skin was more like soft soggy skin. Great variety of food available as well. Casual setting with a small outdoor area and live music. Coffees were decent. Needs improvement Service. Some rude service up at the bar. The staff clearing tables were prompt and friendly though. Great place and I'll be back again for sure!

A good place for a casual feed. Can get very busy during peak summer periods. Food is worth the wait, especially the Pizza which is loaded with toppings. The pool and table tennis room is kids free which is great for those young at heart. Could be a little cleaner.

Moderately good pub food. Pizzas, burgers, fish and chips. We had chicken BBQ pizza which was okay, chicken pieces appeared to be processed and flavour was somewhat bland. Also had a bean salad which looked quite good and had fresh ingredients including pine nuts. Dressing could have been a lot more flavoursome.

In all honesty, the pizza wasn't tremendous at all. The vegetarian pasta was very nice. What really makes this place stand out however, is the fabulous atmosphere and live music. We've been to heaps of small towns throughout Australia, and we've seen many local bars with their typical pub grub and bingo. The Benchmark however far exceeded our expectations. Lovely place! Keep it up!

The staff were lovely and welcoming. The tables however were sticky and had crumbs on it and the coasters themselves were dirty - we went to 3 different tables and settled at a high table. The food was ok. My partner had the Barramundi and he said it was good. I ordered the Scotch Fillet Medium and it came out well done. Would give this place another go on the basis of the lovely girls who were serving and my partner enjoyed his food.

We stayed at the hotel next door for two nights, and ate breakfast and dinner both days at the Benchmark. We thought it was great value, delicious and perfectly cooked. The staff, even when busy, were super friendly. The kids snitzel was even lovely! Only complaint is the fish tank desperately needs cleaning ( it could be a lovely feature) and the outside courtyard is in a bit of disrepair.... But everything else - really great ! Highly recommend the squid and the Barra. Also the chicken wings... And the 3 stooges for Breakkie...

My partner and I visited Tea Gardens Mungo Brush Windawoppa and Hawks Nest for a Sunday drive and lunch. At Hawks Nest arrived at The Benchmark on Booner for lunch. Service by tech savvy young people had hot tasty coffee on our table quick .A great lunch menu and lunch was quickly served with really fresh food. The place is licenced. Ive been there before. With motel attached great place to book a room have a few drinks and the dinner menu is sensational particularly if you like lamb.

Ordered barramundi and salt&pepper calamari with salads - looked like they had an oversupply of rocket and olives, as there were loads of them in both meals. The food was not great and Margarita cocktail was horrible. Maybe if we'd chosen one of their specials of the day and a simple drink, we would've had a better experience...

We stayed at the apartments above this great cafe/restaurant/bar in November 2017 while on a road trip for 2 weeks. the dinner menu is exceptional - I had Pork Belly braised in master stock with Bok Choy, Choy Sum green beans and broccolini. Partner had a Chego - Vegetarian Gluten Free pizza with chicken. Both were absolutely great. Breakfast the next morning was a Vege Board - with avocado, mushrooms, asparagus, tomato , fetta, poached egg and sourdough. The owner happily replaced the fetta with goats cheese and the sourdough for gluten free toast without charge as we are both lactose and gluten intolerant. All in all a great experience.
