Cafe Del Mar in Sydney offers a unique take on the darling Harbour dining scene. The styling just oozes Mediterranean island vibes and on a summer evening you will be forgiven for forgetting for a moment that you're in a Sydney restaurant. The food is fantastic with options ranging tapas plates to large share plates and a great range in between. We opted for tapas to start with King Prawn Salad and beef cheek for mains. If you've read this far, the best time to go is just before sunset. Place your dinner order then take in some cocktails on the balcony while your starters are being prepared. Lastly the service was great, attentive, very helpful and friendly.

The weather was awful when I visited so I couldn't enjoy the views outside but it looked like a lovely terrace. The food was good, I recommend the goat's cheese croquettes. We had 2 issues: when we got there, it took them a while to seat us and they kept saying they don't have our reservation even after I showed them a booking confirmation email sent directly by their website. The second problem was the fish came out raw in the middle and had to be sent back to finish cooking. If you don't like very sweet desserts I would suggest not ordering the chocolate sunset. It was nice but too sweet for me.

We had bottomless lunch for $99 included 3 course meals with side of veggies and drinks! They also had live music on Sunday afternoon with a dancing floor with darling harbour views. Chicken was halal and they were happy to make any other dietary changes. For people who weren't drinking pricing can be reduced. Definitely recommend to try.

Big shout to Clinton Pullman event manager for helping me organised a wonderful Xmas party for my work! He made everything so easy no stress from every detail of food , drinks menus to balloon decorations drop off. Honestly everyone had such a amazing time, with delicious foods, cocktails and views but also the wonderful staff that looked after us. From the time we entered to the time we left all the staff was so lovely and attended to every request we had! This def won’t be the last time I’ll be heading back to this restaurant! Excellent venue with superb customer service from preplanning stages to the actual event day. Their private dining room is beautifully positioned with the sundeck overlooking the Darling Harbour water view. The Cafe Del Mar staff are all very attentive and helpful with all of our guests needs even during a busy event. Really good service. Great menu to choose from with nice selection of wine and cocktails. The interior is comfy and has view of darling harbour. The slow cooked lamb was my favourite along with the salmon, while the starters were superb. Be prepared to spend 120pp atleast but all worth it.

Highly recommend for functions. I would like to start by thanking the management and staff for making my wife's birthday on Saturday, a day that she will never forget, we decided to make it a lunch function. Of course as usual my wife probably ordered too much food by having platters and a canape package but the food was amazing, not a single person didn't like every single canape served, the bar setup in the private dining room constantly attended was a great addition and being able to open the wall from the private dining room into the lounge area and having all that space was amazing. Thanks again to the whole team!!

The waitstaff were lovely but I cannot recommend this place due to the manager. He was extremely inappropriate with our private group (a function that booked out the whole place). He was beyond suspicious and most girls felt very uneasy around him as he kept touching us. I’m not sure if this is something that is actually allowed but he was drinking on the job and we believe put some of the girls at risk. Disgusting behaviour. The place and atmosphere was really beautiful however regardless.

Friendly service, a good menu and an innovative desert! What is it with a difference! A hand painted moon of “house” made white chocolate, frozen with liquid nitrogen at our table. Within the moon, mascarpone cream, raspberry jelly and a chocolate crumb base doused in chocolate sauce! How good was that! Maria and I enjoyed our evening there immensely

The resturant is located up a couple of levels so you get a nice view of the harbour, the service is good with the staff being very attentive. The jamon croquetas were nice, crispy on the outside with nice flavoured filling, the zucchini flower was a bit of a letdown, the color was a bit pale and the filling was bland. We also ordered the seafood platter which is a decent portion of oysters, prawns, octopus and calamari - the octopus was a bit bland but the others were okay, nothing particularly special though. The chicken liver parfait was not bad though they served it with brioche which was too sweet considering they provided chutney/jam and pickles which was enough to balance the flavours to our liking, I ended up leaving the bread and eating it with the pita. The scallops were good though they were cooked perfectly, and the corn puree and pickled raddish complemented the dish well. The crab pasta was disappointing though, we were unable to finish the dish, the was too much citrus making the dish too sour. The decor is nice, simple yet grand. Another downside was they served us with another set of Pita bread which we didn't order and when we mentioned it, they were like it's okay have an extra serving but we still got charged for it at the end. The Sangria was nice too, we ordered the one with the lychees but they put tooo much ice in there... And served it to us with our glasses full of ice too... it was unnecessary to add extra ice to our glass if the jug of sangria already had ice, and of course after sometime the drink was diluted and tasted less flavorful. Overall it's worth a visit, just don't have overly high expectations. Nice place with a nice view.

Lovely venue which catered for our large group booking. We had the long lunch menu with drinks package & although it took a while for the waitress to get the drinks rolling for the table the food came out at a good pace. The chicken liver fois gras parfait was amazing & the zucchini flowers. The salmon was also tasty & going by the rest of the table everyone else enjoyed their meals as well. Staff were friendly however it could’ve been more attentive at some stages throughout the sitting. A great place for large & small groups as well as couples. Overall I’ve dined here a few times since it’s been open & all times have been pleasant.

I would have given them 5 stars if the amenities weren’t disaster! Considering the location of the place and food quality , they definitely need to fix and clean the toilets on a regular basis ! However no complaints with the food. It was delicious but yes its a bit too pricy for the portion size though. The service could have been better as it feels like the waitresses want you to leave as soon as you finish the food and leaves an impatient impression all the time even though it wasn’t busy at all during our stay.

Went for a Sunday lunch to take the parents out. Classic Darling harbour setting, though there was no outdoor seating available. Went for a sharing option instead of individual meals, ordered the seafood platter to start and then the lamb with a couple of sides. The real reason I was there was for the Golden globe desert. If you are looking to crack open your ice-cream, this would be the place.

Finally found a cool restaurant and bar, with fantastic DJ gigs for us old timers. Great fun and many a nice person to chat to. Can get busy, but this venue is well staffed and drinks provided quickly. Location has a superb view off the outside balcony, and is a great spot for a long lunch. Went here for lunch will give it 3.5. They have a lovely view facing the harbour. We were the only ones so we were served quick by a polite waitress. We ordered the lamb with pumpkin sauce and a veg dish with cheese and mushrooms.. Can't really remember the exact names. The food came quick but wrong. They gave us cod fish instead of the veg one. We were the only ones so it was suprising how they got the order wrong. Anyways the food was yummy and flavourful. Ordered the lamb medium well but it was slightly over well done. Overall view and flavour were amazing and would go again. Our bill for the two dishes was $68. The portions are adequate but someone with my appetite would want a bit more 😋

Went there for anniversary lunch with hubby and kids. Love the seafood platter so much! Price is a little bit pricey but nice and cozy restaurant. We ordered one sangria (one glass) but it came one jug. I don’t know why hubby didn’t ask to change so we have to pay more for it. But overall, good experience.

The dessert golden moon was awesome, not only the novelty of pouring the liquid nitrogen on it, but it also tasted really delicious. The entrees, particularly the gnocchi and calamari were really good. Gnocchi was cooked perfectly, soft pillowy goodness. The calamari had a really yummy chorizo sauce, again cooked perfectly. The mains, not so amazing, the lamb shank i was hoping for it to melt in my mouth and be somewhat juicy, it was a bit dry and came out warm, not hot. The steak was ordered medium rare and it came out rare.

31 of us went to Cafe del mar yesterday for a Hens Day and I couldn't fault anything. The food was yummy, presented well and plenty of it. The waitstaff were very attentive and pleasant, lastly the lady at the front of house was beautiful and very friendly.

I have only been during the evenings and never had a meal here yet. Besides those two factors, I can vouch that everything else in this place is absolutely great. The variety of cocktails is quite nice and the service was great. Everyone on our table agreed that Cafe Del Mar has absolutely the best espresso martini in Sydney (same goes for all the martinis on the menu (big birthday night!!)). The outdoor space is perfect for a night out and even though the ambience inside is quite aesthetic and interesting, the outside seemed cozier and filled with more vibrant energy.

A fancy restaurant with good service. I felt like we’re looked after very well with a waiter who has very short light color hair. I was watching his move and seems like he was super nice to everybody else, he even ran to other staff started cleaning a empty table and took over her work. Very friendly but really respectful attitude to us. We enjoyed foods and nice recommend wine, also interesting dessert with nitro(?) , it was nice to take some photos/video! Some food was a bit tasteless because of not enough salt for me, especially I wanted enjoy food with drink. But overall it was pretty good experience, nice view and there’s a DJ looked after music. I liked a mocktail called Virgin mojito.

This place is more for the views and ambience over food. While the following tapas were reasonable (prawns, fried zucchini blossom, marinated octopus) the kingfish ceviche and seared scallops didn't hit the mark. For the mains, the roast lamb was fine, but the chilli crab linguini (no flavour, just a bunch of oiled noodles) and kingfish (too dry) were disappointing. Service was attentive in the beginning but eventually decreased. Restaurant hostess was friendly and polite.

I thought the food was good but the service was average. We asked for a ginger beer and she didn't understand what we meant due to an English language barrier. Then she ended up pouring us something else that wasn't exactly a ginger beer but close to it. The service for our mains took a very long time. And then when we ordered another round of drinks we asked for only two and she brought three. They fix it up on the bill but I just expected more from a restaurant like this. I wouldn't go back necessarily. Although there were a lot of mains that sounded amazing and I would like to have tried them, but the experience just didn't come across as something I needed to have again.

My daughter and I went there for birthday dinner using the Groupon voucher. Excellent service the moment we entered the door with the Security attendant pulling the door. Usher was polite and lovely. All waitresses and Manager were friendly and professional. Kitchen team looked efficient and very serious about their cooking. The Market Fish (Baramandi) was extremely well cooked, crispy skin with the flesh melting in the mouth. The 250gm steak was juicy and tender and the sauce was a compliment. It was such an enjoyable dining experience there with the good music and beautiful ambience in addition to the superb food.

Great ambience. Great house music. The place has a stunning overlooking view to the Darling Harbour. The food was nice even though the they were a bit pricey. Limited food choice, though. I asked for a mocktail which was not on the menu. The waiter recommended me having the bartender creating one. Even though I had no idea what it was but it was so nice. The worst experience was that I called to make reservation for Friday evening and got hung up before even finished. I was running late so I called again to push the reservation back 30 minutes. One of my friends got there first and the Maitre d' informed her that we needed to finish by 8.30 because our table would be given the the next booking. She did not even tell me when I called to postpone the time. That was unprofessional. Besides, there were plenty of available tables when we got there. The service were quite irritating. We had to attract the waiters' attention many times. I guess that was because there were only few of them and more of the diners. The best thing was that I asked for a special birthday dessert for one of the friends. The waiter brought us the raspberries tart with chocolate sauce saying happy birthday. That was so nice. When we asked for bill, we noticed that they did not charge for that tart. It was a complimentary. We did not really expect that. That was very nice of them and we really appreciate that. So, to sum up, the atmosphere was nice. Food was lovely. A bit pricey. The service sucks except for that birthday tart. I would still recommend Cafe del Mar and if I have a chance I would go back for the food again.

The food here is devine. Been here probably 10 to 12 times and everytime the food is excellent. It is an upmarket restaurant so it is on the pricy side but we always leave full, no main meals the size of canapes. The view is spectacular, always try and get a balcony table, in winter they'll give you some blankets and have heaters so you should be warm enough, the view from the table is worth it.

Went to see Boy George DJ and it was packed and fantastic. Excellent service, they had amazing staff ensuring the bathrooms were clean all night, exceptional. Watched Vivid and fireworks from balconey. I have been for drinks after work and this venue is a crowd pleaser, good drinks and views.

I recently held a function here and the service and food were exceptional! The views of Cockle Bay Wharf provide a very chill and relaxed atmosphere. The staff are all friendly and professional and the manager, Jason went above and beyond to ensure we had a great night. Absolutely recommend it!!!

8 Of us ate at Café Del Mar on Friday 18th March with 4 Vouchers. We had to sit at separate tables as per Scoopon Voucher conditions but they positioned us close by. Some couples after ordering, swapped seats as were sharing a meal. Whilst the food was reasonably good, the staff seemed very rushed and got upset that a few of us had swapped tables, when bringing the food to our tables. Not sure why it would matter to them as the bills were all separate. We pointed where it would go but got eyes rolling and a bit of attitude from some of the staff. One waitress was very good however. Also they seemed so busy that no one offered more drinks to our table. All 8 of us commented on the rudeness of some staff and lack of service. A pity as the food is reasonable for the price. • • •

Picturesque location overlooking Darling Harbour, yet away from the hustle and bustle because of the elevated position. It can get very hot on the balcony so in summer a lot of people cram into the small indoor bar area. And when hosting a private function the bar isn't very good at cordoning off each area so it's get more packed. The wine list was ok but staff were slow and it was a little odd that they didn't have ingredients for a cocktail i ordered even though i was there when they had just opened. It was ok overall, just not as amazing as i was hoping.

I really wanted to love this place and it was ok, just not great for the money. It does have great views over Darling Harbour but you can get similar views from many of the other places for a lot less $$ For me the food was only ok, my husband loved it but my pork was literally just fat (there was even these weird clear tendons in it) that it really put me off it. The cocktails were great although pretty expensive. Vibe wise, we were there for lunch on the Monday of the October long weekend and it was pretty quiet (we were told it was much busier the day before). We sat outside which was nice although there was a group of women next to us who were clearly having a competition of who ever spoke the loudest had the most interesting story and therefor was the winner. With 8 women competing to be the loudest it did make it a little uncomfortable for us just trying to have a nice lunch although that isn't Cafe del Mar's fault. Overall, I'd say it's ok but there are much better places in the city for a summer afternoon.
