I've used Kitchen By Mike Catering a number of times and every time I do, it's incredible! We've received glowing customer feedback at events thanks to the wholesome and delicious food. Would definitely recommend their catering and restaurant too!

If you want the BEST LUNCH in the Sydney CBD then go to Kitchen by Mike. His canteen style restaurant is really great. The portions are very generous and the food is always really healthy. Lots of salads and really nice meat options that change everyday along with vegan and vegetarian stuff too. Mike’s usually there serving at the canteen so thats always fun to meet him. It’s a really special and unique place to go for a healthy lunch in Sydney.

We booked this restaurant through first table which means you need to be at the restaurant at the opening time to get 50% of your total bill upto 4 people max per table. The discount only applies to menu including drinks but not daily specials. I like the short menu of 16 dishes and 4 desserts which makes your selection easier to choose. Most of the dishes can be quite small which you will have to order a few to share otherwise you can keep asking for more bread. We order a few dishes and they were all delicious especially the braised prawn eggplant with black sesame rice cracker and last but not least the bomb Alaska for dessert to top the night.

The ambience of the restaurant is homely and sophisticated. We ordered the 6 course set meal which started off with the house made sourdough and cultured butter which were both AMAZING. The set meals themselves were delicious but nothing extrodinary. We had a 50% discount on the set meals which made it well worth the money. The waiter we had looking after us was very welcoming and extremely funny ! Recommend for a date or a dinner with friends.

Kitchen by Mike hosted our work Christmas party. From start to finish, communication with Gemma was warm and friendly, everything was super well organised and I felt confident during the planning that our much needed end of year celebration was going to be one to remember. Which it was. Amazing food, wine, service, atmosphere and space. Thanks KBM for bringing the efficiency, sophistication and deliciousness.

This reincarnation of Kitchen by Mike is operating out a large modern space on Bent St, at the Circular Quay end of the city. Kitchen by Mike is part of the movement cooking on wood fired open flame, which seems to be popular in Sydney at the moment. Former Rockpool chef Mike McEnearney heads the kitchen here after closing No.1 Bent street earlier this year. Kitchen by Mike is a casual eatery with a breakfast and lunch canteen and table service dinner. The food is rustic but refined. They have a sustainable focus using locally sourced ingredients and whole foods. The restaurant also has a good drinks menu to boot, featuring products from all Australian distillers, breweries and wineries. We were pondering about where to go, and found this with a 50% food deal via first table. It does involve a $10 booking fee, but great value all the same and a good way to explore new restaurants. The discount is limited to the a la carte food menu. The service is efficient and the portions are decent, despite the waitress advising they are only small sharing plates. The food is very well prepared. The scallops were unanimously the favourite dish of the evening and come highly recommended.
The vanella stracciatella, served with asparagus and spring peas (V, GF) is a nice light dish with fresh flavours and stood out in contrast to the richly flavoured wood fired cooking. Soufflé is appearing an ever popular menu item at many restaurants we have visited of late. This twice cooked cheese soufflé was very good and our tastebuds thanked us, but maybe not the waistline.
There is plenty of seafood on the menu, and the Grilled Southern calamari, served on a skewer with nduja (spicy cured meat) ink dressing and guanciale was nicely charred and very well prepared, rich and packed with flavours, so much so it even paired well with the red wine. We also enjoyed the wood roasted whole Eugowra quail with crispy skin and succulent juicy meat which was braised with quince. The pan fried blue eyed Trevalla with mussel & saffron broth and aioli toast was a good dish. The broth was beautiful and the fish tasted lovely despite it being a little over cooked. Though, this is understandable given the method of cooking. We enjoyed our dining experience here. Well worth a visit, especially when utilising some discount deals.

Great atmosphere and Mary, our server, was very attentive and pleasant. The lamb cutlets were amazing and I enjoyed the beef tataki too. The prawn and eggplant sandwich was very unique but a little too salty for my taste. Had the bomb Alaska and the chocolate custard tart which were good desserts. Overall, an enjoyable experience and am keen to return to try the other dishes.
S. B.
This restaurant provides a great dining experience. The food is different with unique dishes and the wine list is very good even if not extensive. The service is really good and I've enjoyed the whole experience. Will definitely come back again.
Q. V.
Rustic atmosphere, seems good for small business meal according to its location. Need more attention to customer from staff for better service. End of summer menu was quite ordinary. Might go back to try other menu, as review about other foods were mostly on positive side.

First visit here in its current incarnation having been previously when Mike had this as 1 Bent St. Had heard plenty of good reports from suits flocking here for the packed lunch services but not that much about the dinner service, which based on our experience is a pity.
At night, the dining format changes to an a la carte offer with a relaxed, warm, low-key ambience where conversation is easy thanks to table spacing and the absence of any blaring “background” music.
This is very accomplished food. The scallop and chicken dishes were our standouts both on the night as well as of our week long Sydney dining , however the mash was voted “dish of the night” by our 7yo Princess. Of course her vote wins.
Charming, professional service team led on the evening by Julia, Kitchen by Mike is an easy choice for when you want to eat somewhere with very high standards without the fuss or expense of a “big night out” venue.
J. K.
Exceptional dining experience where we feasted on a wide variety of fusion inspired Asian Australian delicacies. The atmosphere was beautiful and the staff were professional and extremely thoughtful and took time to ensure all the extra touches were there to make our meal super incredible. I can't wait to go there again.
M. T.
Tasty, seasonal, delicious food. Really good value especially for the $15 special. They even made meatloaf taste awesome.
One star deducted because they didn't really have enough staff and my pre-order sat waiting for 10 minutes.
P. B.
Fantastic restaurant, some really nice flavour combinations and good utilisation of the freshest seasonal ingredients. With that in mind I think the menu changes regularly so just try everything! The tasting menu is great for that, only small crotocoam I will give is that some portions were a little small for me but I'm a medium sized chap with a big appetite

Went there for an impromptu dinner alone. Would highly recommend booking a table in advanced.
I ordered the grilled octopus for a starter, which was nicely charred and the olives added the right amount of briney-ness to the octopus. For my main, I had the fillet eye from the specials board which was absolute perfection on a plate! Nice char all around and the doneness was even throughout, and paired very nicely with the bernaise sauce and coriander salad. I was rather full by then but was convinced to have a dessert and the blood orange tart was just absolutely mind blowing! A cool and smooth blood orange coolie like filling sitting on a flakey pastry with a top seared off with sugar like a creme brulee.
Would highly reccomend to go with your friends and share their platters, as that is their concept, service staff are warm and friendly and give attention to detail and great recommendations. Would come again in a heartbeat any day!

What are the chances your best loaf of bread comes from a restaurant? We had their takeaway meals during the lockdown. They also do a beautiful lemongrass pumpkin curry. And the bread was both incredibly fresh, soft and ENORMOUS! Those were the highlights.
S. Y.
Came for a weekday lunch and it wasn't too crowded by 145pm. Food was heavenly, and Mary our server was so caring and friendly. Lamb cutlets and steak tataki are absolute must haves. The prawn and eggplant sandwich was surprisingly refreshing as well. Sourdough bread with butter was delicious but don't get full on it. For desserts, the BombAlaska and chocolate tart balanced each other out well. Bookings needed, good for groups, and come prepared to share. Will definitely come back again.
M. T.
Awesome food, excellent wines, fun atmosphere, and super friendly staff. We had the bbq octopus, spiced snapper fillet, grilled beef intercostal, and crispy brussel sprouts and all were delicious! We'll definitely be back to try some of the other dishes on the menu!
B. L.
I have been here a few times now, and here are the highlights:
- Sourdough with hand-churned butter
- Goat cheese souffle was rich and delicious with a nice crunchy top, but it proved too much for me alone, definitely better shared
- Baked scallops in thyme, garlic butter was absolutely sensational
- Blackened leek was sweet, balanced perfectly with romesco and the saltiness of the Iberico jamon
- Slow cooked beef rib was juicy and tender
- Bombe Alaska was absolutely brilliant, the flavour combo was already perfect, but the pepper berry took it into another level
In conclusion, the dishes had complex flavour combinations and they worked. The waiting staff was attentive and knew the menu very well.
EDIT: On my most recent visit, we had a tough time getting attention from the waitress, and we ended up leaving without ordering dessert. Also, the fish dish continues to be slightly over.
M. D.
A place I would definitely come back to! The cheese soufflé & beef rump were the highlights for me however all the other dishes were great too. Service was ok however noticed that we weren't offered bread for the table compared to others which I wish we tried as others have talked about how nice it was.
It has a corporate after work crowd that dine here & feels slightly more relaxed.
A.
I went on Friday at 6pm and the staff were helpful and attentive, it is well maintained with a relaxed atmosphere. The cocktails were my highlight and if you're vegetarian, I recommend the feta pie. The rest of the food wasn't to my taste, but it was a nice experience and I like trying food that's a little bit different. I wouldn't go here for a casual meal because of the prices but for a nice night out, it was perfect.
E. S.
Very high regard to the warm customer service and staff's knowledge of the food. The welcoming vibe will make you feel at home and look forward to your meal. The inviting menu will make you crave even more filling you with high hopes. When the food finally arrives you'll be disappointed to see how they lack generosity, they are more of a tasting plate. What they're short on serving size, however, the flavour makes up to it. Price here is definitely on the high end so take note of that. Overall dining here was a great experience having shared the evening few friends and family. The group's feeling about the restaurant was divided but me personally it's a 3.5 out of 5 in the goodness scale.
D. K.
Food was good, but not great.
Lamb shoulder was a mix of moist and dry.
Goats Cheese Souffle and Ceviche was a big tick.
Bombe Alaska was good.
Price point was a touch more that we felt was standard (including drinks)
A. H.
Took my wife here for our three year anniversary. We had the set menu there. We were served by a waiter who was a little hard to understand which led us to order the crispy potato dish thinking that it came as part of the menu which was a little annoying to pay an additional $15 or so.
The rest of the meal wasnt particularly special. The meat was too chewy and the others wete just ok. Not something I would rave about as the taste were a little lacking for the tofu and the curry seafood fish. The dessert was probably the best. We would be unlikely to come back, at least not at it's non-discounted prices, but may give another opportunity when the new season menu comes out.
K.
A place with a very good semi casual formal ambience. The food had generous proportions and were tasty making it very good value for money in my opinion. Would recommend if you had a group or need to meet a few friends. Service was also attentive so overall good place.
M. M.
We had the set menu. While the food was nice and well seasoned, the waits of 30-45 minutes between each course was excruciating. We would come back again if the food came out quicker.

Kitchen by Mike is my all time favourite place to go for a healthy lunch in the city. It is so delicious and the food is always super fresh. You can see the chefs making the salads so you know it hasn’t been sitting around all day! I work in an office and its really nice to get out and go to their friendly canteen, eat well and feel refreshed for my afternoon.
L. C.
Despite the modern industrial decor this restaurant has a bit of a French feel to it.
The service is good. Relaxed and welcoming.
The kitchen integrated into the dining room makes it feel extra special.
Food is bold and fresh.
Overall a great dining experience in SYD downtown!
S. N.
Not very into the food there but the service was good. We paid half price for the new spring menu, was originally $110 pp. It was alright was the special but I don't think I will pay the full price for the set.

Fantastic restaurant for a catch up with friends or a celebration. Friendly service (Julia looked after us and made some excellent recommendations) and wonderful seasonal menu - the spit roast chicken is just heavenly and the chicken liver pâté is one of the best I've ever had. Great wine list to accompany, including many natural and organic varieties. Loved the desserts too.

Great truffle set menu! Loved the sashimi, home made pies and the Chestnut + truffle dessert! Will definitely come back again!
C. T.
Staff were welcoming, down to earth and service was amazing!
The strawberry and rose cordial mocktail was refreshing. The woodfire scallop w miso butter was notably delicious.

Superb Sydney CBD place to enjoy one of Australia’s best chefs work!! Outstanding service, superbly crafted menu, with seriously delicious food and high quality wine list. Good for dates, business or catching up with friends. Highly recommend

If I’m putting in last meal requests it’s The cultured and salted butter with sourdough toast at Kitchen by Mike. The Pepe Saya butter needs to be tasted to be believed, rich creamy buttery heaven. Sourdough is damn fine too.
i. Y.
Very friendly staff, very modern design, but personally food wasn't what I expected, I think the curry sauce on the steak tasted kind of weird, overall experience was okay
T. C.
Food was probably a 4 or 4.5. Chicken liver pate and sour dough were good. Burrata and fried zucchini had average zucchini, the lobster tails were fresh but slightly over salted. Chicken was succulent but the vinegratte was slightly disappointing, it just needed a drizzle of good balsamic. Service was excellent.
B. C.
Delicious food. Tiny portions, but we were prewarned by staff. Amazing service, very fancy ans somehow still felt casual. Mmm cocktails.
K. C.
Quite a curious assortment of fusion food blending elements from many aspects of cuisine. An interesting use of flavours and contracts in each dish.
R. T.
Good service and good food but felt a bit rushed with the degustation menu. 3 courses came out within 10 mins.
G. C.
Excellent dining experience. Warm and friendly atmosphere and very attentive service and staff. Do yourself a favour and give it a try
D. T.
Local produce cooked to perfection. Tastes delicious and fresh. Will not dissapoint. One of my regular dinning when visiting Sydney.

I think Kitchen by Mike does the BEST LUNCH in Sydney! Where else can you go for restaurant food at café prices. Fresh healthy lunches salads and the quiche are my favourites. I often have one for lunch then take a couple away for dinner at home. I really appreciate being able to have a good healthy well priced lunch in the CBD city where I work. It really is the only place to go.
Otherwise, its the food court or high end restaurant. Thank you kitchen by mike for being the best lunch in the CBD!

Recently attended a private event here. I was so impressed with the food and the space that I returned for a dinner with friends. The food is spectacular, amazing value and generous portions. The stand out for me was the service, especially from our host (Gemma), who was warm, attentive and made everyone feel like a special guest. Highly recommend!
J. D.
The At Home food parcel had very generous serves. Enough for three meals for a family of three. Great service too as they bent over backwards to help with a lockdown birthday dinner
A. D.
Prices are very dear here however the food is above par so worth trying out. Service is good.

Beautiful food, cooked with so much love and attention. Staff are attentive and make you feel so welcome!
Plus the new natural wine list is divine!!!
B. H.
I can recommend Kitchen by Mike in the CBD to anyone who is looking for a healthy lunch. It’s a really nice vibe. Casual communal tables , you queue up for food and the food is AMAZING! Always a really fresh salds and healthy vegetrain and vegan options, but my particular favourite is the wood roast chicken which they have on every day. Its so tasty and you can have salads and bread with it or whatever you want. If you haven’t tried Kitchen by Mike lunch in the city then you don’t know what youre missing!
T. A.
Fabulous food, impeccable service. Helpful wait staff who suggested fabulous cocktails to our taste. Thank you for accommodating our time frame and make the night extremely memorable. Can not recommended you enough.
J. W.
Decided to go vego for the day so we ordered romanesco with chic peas, Brussel sprouts (with bacon, well a little meat is ok), and mushrooms with seaweed butter. Have to say, the mushroom dish was beautiful. The Brussels sprouts and romanesco weren't bad either. We also had deserts which was the pear tart (again, beautiful) and the quince with saffron custard and pistachio brittle, also good. All that and one drink came up to about $100 for 2 person. Good value I would say.
S. F.
I absolutely love the healthy lunches and dinners at kitchen by mike. What a delicious spread of healthy food and it is so organic and fresh and amazing. I love the service too! 5 stars x
H. O.
Awesome lunch today Thanks Kitchen by Mike. I feel great after my healthy homemade quiche and salads and will definitely be back tomorrow to try whatever you have on. Kitchen by Mike is GREAT
M. U.
Great to have this phenomenal eatery open again. Seasonal, sustainable and insanely delicious food created and delivered by a team of passionate, fun folk who truly love their calling. Cannot wait to get back there. (And if the Pork Belly is on, then yiu are in serious luck!)

I took my husband to Kitchen by Mike for his birthday.
On our arrival we were greeted by a friendly waitress who made us feel so welcome. Each dish that she brought out she described.
The food had the most amazing flavors and combinations.
We adored our broccolini with cauliflower gratin. It is the best side we have ever tasted. Even hard core meat lovers would enjoy it.
The potion sizes were great value and the bread was a gastronomic delight.
The service was quick and friendly. Our waitress made us feel like we were family.
In my husbands dessert our waitress put a birthday candle in it and sang happy birthday to him. It was delightful ending to a wonderful night. It is the little things like this that make a business
Highly recommended and we will be back.
M. P.
A relaxed placed to find yourself late at night. The kitchen was closed, but we managed to get several entrees and a very good bottle of house red (Orchard Block Pinot Noir). I would recommend for the food, and the for friendly staff and owner Mike.
t. m.
Amazing service , surroundings and welcoming staff. Options for food were generous and affordable. We couldn’t fault anything other than we kept the staff from serving others because of our banter with the waitresses. Sour dough is more than one piece per person. Just ask! Will recommend to all that I know and can’t wait to come back and try the winter menu
B. L.
Outstanding. I took some clients here and one of them is vegetarian. I noticed that only one of the mains is vegetarian so I called up beforehand to see what other options they might have. The restaurant not only told me of several other variations of the menu they can do to accommodate my client, but they also noted that it was a business meal and seated us on a standalone table. In addition, when we arrived they asked immediately who of us was the vegetarian and gave them special attention to their dietary needs.
The food was sensational, and the restaurant wasn't too loud meaning we could have a decent conversation without having to yell over each other.
Will definitely come back again.
D. W.
Best lunch in town. Homely, delicious, high-quality food, friendly efficient service and always a memorable experience. Can't recommend Kitchen by Mike highly enough!
M. C.
Gorgeous interior, service was excellent, menu was well thought of and food was great!
P. T.
Kitchen by Mike CBD is a favourite of mine. It produces the freshest and most innovative food at reasonable prices and has a great selection of wines and cocktails. Staff are without doubt the most courteous, unpretentious and skilled people with a thorough knowledge of the menu. I keep going back to this restaurant because I know I am going to get consistent service and quality food.
a.
Chef Mike & his team are finally back doing the do & to say they've been missed is a severe understatement!! The most amazing sour dough wood fired bread & a vast array of tasty & healthy menu options that are sure to tickle your fancy & make your tastebuds go wild!! Do yourself a favour, drop in to see Uncle Mike & his crew on the ASAP!!!
P. C.
Went here a few weeks ago with my girlfriend. Food was sensational, couldn't go past the scallops and pate though. We were taken care of by Julia on the night. She was so wonderful and knowledgeable and gave us some excellent wine recommendations to pair with our food. We will be back!!
M. S.
We had a lovely family meal here - my two daughters loved the food and tried everything. We usually get KBM from Home so it was nice to dine in and enjoy the great ambience and service. Thank you :)
A. M.
Excellent service! Highly commendable! Food was also excellent: the dishes all tasted great and were quite creative. Portions were however tiny and our party all left hungry after the set menu. Atmosphere was another positive. What wasn't positive was how everything took such a long time to come out: a very very significantly long time.
J. V.
Food is always amazing. I wouldn't say that I'm normally a fan of salads, but what they put together here as part of the choices for your meal is absolutely fantastic.
You absolutely should have some of their freshly baked bread AND freshly churned butter, seriously it really makes the meal.
Z. M.
Nice open restaurant. Watching the chefs was fun. The food we ate was delicious and the staff were nice and attentive. Would've liked larger servings, but I feel that way almost every time we go fine dining.
R. K.
Nice relaxing spot, simple fare with very strong flavours. Great coffee.
A. G.
Initially very happy but chicken under-cooked ... Second time eating lunch here and my boss regularly brings baked goods back to the office. I ate lunch in the first time and the food was fantastic. Had the $22 'protein plus 2 salads' deal, plus the sublime sourdough and butter side. I ordered the same today to take away but unfortunately discovered when I got back to the office that my wood roasted chicken was red and undercooked inside :-(
M. M.
My partner and Iloved the food. It was tasty and plentiful. We are vegetarian and were satisfied with the vegetarian meal we chose but there was only one option. We would have liked more vegetarian main options. Our waitress was great. It was friendly and efficient. Not a cheap option but certainly an enjoyable one
i. B.
Really good food, quite expensive, for dinner it is only a set menu
N. J.
This is the place to go to feel immediately at home! The patê is worth it alone! The service is always smiley and thoughtful. The menu is seasonal and delicious!
Z.
A quick and healthy lunch with fantastic salads for the vegetarians. If you want to duck out for a 30 minute lunch from the office or have a quick catch up over lunch this is the place to go. You won't feel guilty about the money or quality of the meal! Definitely try Kitchen By Mike! The price is also affordable for the quality.
S. N.
Had a nice dinner here using Firsttable discount. The food was lovely, especially the bread, brussel sprouts and the quail pie. Very limited options for vegetarians who don't like cheese. The waiter pushed us to order more and we ended up over-ordering because we weren't super hungry. Overall however, a lovely night out.
A. P.
Was there for an formal corporate event. Venue is good. Food was amazing but best part was the white wine. Just too good. I think they have their own blend but what ever it was just amazing. Will definitely visit again 9n personal front to have casual experiance. Heard they have $20 lunch menu so do not seems to be that 3lexpensive.
T. L.
Came here for Melbourne Cup lunch - really great food and love the sharing style. Heaps of vegetarian and vegan options. Nice atmosphere & the lady serving us was great. Bit expensive but was worth it for the occasion.
j. a. d.
The food here is quite nice and it is obvious that placing your trust in mike crafting a seasonal menu is well worth it.
As with any restaurant there were some dishes which I think they nailed and other dishes that I didn’t feel were as great.
We had quite a few dishes and the standouts were the chicken pate, the scallops and the lamb which was extremely tender! The pistachio ice cream for desert was also a real winner and much nicer than any I have had before.
The flavours in the kingfish didn’t really compliment the fish well to me and although the oysters were fresh the vinaigrette they put on them lacked punch.
The service was very attentive and they timed the meals perfectly.
Overall I would recommend going here! We will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed a particularly pleasurable evening last night @ Kitchen by Mike’s Truffle degustation menu with pared wines.
From the moment we arrived, we were generously attended to by wonderful Julia, She was warm, engaging and knowledgeable as were the team who all added to our enjoyment.
We were taken on a journey throughout the evening with the various courses and wines, being so beautifully prepared and presented, care taken to explain to us the elements of the dish’s as they arrived.
It was a memorable and heartfilling experience. It would seem to us that the staff are valued and enjoy their work, it reflects in their attitude, a joy to be around professionalism, refreshing and so very nice to have eaten exquisite food made all the more wonderful by the staff. Our sincere compliments and appreciation.
R. P.
Dimmi got us there and boy are we glad we accepted the offer, first of all the food was just amazing. Set menu to share, beautiful combination of dishes on offer all delicious and made with care. Stand outs for me were the leek & prosciutto and the main dish which was lamb cooked to perfection. Our waiter was excellent and friendly but not overbearing, ambience is lovely with some industrial concrete finishes but balanced with warm lighting and nice background music. My only minor gripe would be that wine by the glass can be rather expensive and maybe should offer 'house wine' more on the affordable scale? All in all we enjoyed an excellent night out.
C. B.
The eggplant from the entree was the most delicious I have ever tasted, the selection of entrees was hard to choose just one. The service was attentive and polite. The cocktail list and the menu choices along with the decor was fresh.
M. M.
We had a lovely dinner at Kitchen by Mike. The food was fabulous so many different flavours and colours. My favourite was the Moroccan brown rice, roasted pepper, olive pie. We also ordered the snapper, chicken, goat's cheese soufflé' and broccolini which were all amazing. We finished the night with the rice pudding and chocolate mousse and literally rolled home. Will definitely come again!
A. L.
Kitchen by Mike is a breath of fresh air in the Sydney CBD. Fresh, healthy, delicious and nourishing food served by cheerful and helpful staff. The laid back atmosphere is a welcome relief from the bustle of the city. The coffee and pastries are also first class if you just want something between meals (or as a treat after a meal). If you work in the city make this your regular haunt- you won’t be sorry.
s. j.
Had the autumn set menu ,food was good especially the salads and scallops. Our flank steak was ok but chewy, we were offered options for sides for the steak that are not on the menu but not told it was extra charge, I'm happy to pay for it but it felt like it was pushed on you unknowingly. We chose potatoes they were great. Coconut pineapple ice cream with sago pudding was a great way to finish off. It took about 25 mins wait for the bill to come.
S. d. V.
We had such a good experience at the newly opened Kitchen By Mike CBD location. The food is second to none. Staff were exceptional. Wine was top notch. Particular mention to the restaurant manager Gemma who is one of the best hospitality staff members I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Highly recommend the degustation menu for dinner.
Y. W. Y.
1 of the best restaurants I've been to in long time. Service was excellent! Cannot fault their service at all. We had the most polite waiter who was very friendly and very attentive even though he was looking after many tables. Food was amazing too. Highly highly recommend the desserts. We had the Paris Brest and fig and ricotta puff. Both were to die for. Definitely going back again very soon!
B. B.
Excellent food made from the best produce. Friendly staff ( well done Gemma!) and a place I keep going back to as Mike is always doing something interesting with the menu. Great selection of artisan gin and vodkas!
R. N.
Food was very beautiful, creative and fresh. The downside is their tapas size. Too small to share in a group of four but I guess OK for two. Their wine list is pretty expensive. All in all good but won't go back.
D. W.
Amazing dishes that are sure to please. Quick and delicious!
C. S.
Mike is hands down my favourite chef in Sydney. His food is perfect. The ingredients are super fresh and tasty, always seasonal. The combinations are unexpected and fun. There are Italian, French, Japanese influences but every dish is unique. This is not a cheap restaurant but definitely worth every cent. And don’t skip the desserts, they are some of the best in the planet - especially the poached quince with custard and pistachio brittle. Yum!
t. G.
We've been here a few times, both under its former incarnation (No.1 Bent St) and it's reboot as KBM. Always had delicious food, great service, and we really enjoy this place, as was the case last night. Special mention to the reduced noise level: we are able to conduct a conversation without difficulty. My only reason for deducting one star for this review is due to the current (new?) menu structuring options at dinner where different combinations of entrees and/or mains and/or sides and/or desserts are bundled into three different and, well, confusing configurations. We found this more than a little weird, and simply ordered what we wanted (more or less) and left it to our cheerful server to figure out how to shoe-horn our choices into the available cost structures. I get that restaurants need to make money, and resort to these measures as a result, perhaps. If I may suggest, we know a few restaurants around town who simply impose a minimum spend per head: that seems to me a less confusing way to achieve a similar outcome, and avoids forcing patrons to choose from a limited set of options. In our case, we generally order several entrees and a single main, in order to sample more flavours and avoid eating too much, but that option was not available.

Pretentious and disappointing menu. Chicken Liver pate was amazing but comes without bread - need to buy a slice of bread for $5 per person. Twice cooked beef intercostal was tender but very fatty and gelatinous. Baked cauliflower and grilled broccoli were almost raw and couldn't be cut with the blunt knives provided.
Restaurant has a nice vibe and service was pretty good but the food was very disappointing.

I have eaten a couple of times at KBM since it reopened. a very welcome addition to have them back. Really lovely food, friendly people and a nice environment. Also great value.
C. F.
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch - all plates were shared and everyone loved it. The pie and roast pork belly were really good! Staffs were attentive and atmosphere was intimate. We were told entrees were of small portions, and they were small indeed! In saying that we had 3 entrees and 2 mains between the 4 of us and it was enough.
D. F.
Very nice atmosphere and service, not too loud so perfect for a business catch up or intimate dinner. The food is very nice as well but I would not say there was any stand out dishes from the set menu I had. But taking into account the 50% discount offer on it, it is totally worth it. Overall I would recommend the restaurant for a nice dégustation.
Z. M.
Really enjoyed my dinner here- a total lovely Aroma of food and toasty wood fires, but not overwhelming. Only bad thing was that the chocolate tart was too dry and extremely rich, and no relief from icecream so wasn't balanced properly. White by Mike was a great basic to accompany the food- although wine list is very well stocked regardless!
J. P.
There is a reason this is our favorite- it is really that good. Probably one of the top 2 or 3 restaurants In Sydney and they charge way below what it is worth.
Also regularly get their food at Sydney international airport when travelling.
Creative and innovative cooking with obviously the best organic ingredients.
P.
Great! Really like the set up here, low key with friendly and unobtrusive service, and share plates to make the meal more social. Obvious care taken with the varied menu prepared to a high standard, yet none of that over-engineered fine dining vibe. Just an easy place to relax with friends or colleagues over a quality meal.
L. S.
We went in with a group of 4 people and had an amazing experience.
The girls were vegetarian (we made a note when we made the reservation) and they brought out different plates for the girls when the plates included meat.
Food was amazing.
Customer service was perfect.
Overall experience was pretty good. Will return for sure
K.
The food is good... But not commensurate with the price. We had a very unfortunate experience with the staff. Somehow the waitress was in a particular "mood" and did not help us have a relaxing and easy time. It was "difficult" and "tiring".. Almost having an argument over each choice of food and quantity of food to share.. Tiring... We also had a big surprise when the bill came through to show that extra sides of bread cost almost as much as a main meal.. One of those "cool" places to go if you want to Instagram...but unfortunate that fresh and good food is synonymous to uptight experience...Back
to basics guys...customer service.

First time coming here and it's a favorite straight away. Electric atmosfere, awesome food and lovely people serving. The rustic feel of the place is just heart warning and they way the food is presented is brilliant. Highly recommend it.
I. L.
We prebooked for the special black truffle menu. Good quality truffle presented in all dishes, interesting flavours. The waiting staff are polite and attentive. Quite enjoyable. Would be interested to go back to try the regular menu.
M. N.
Dined here on a weekday amex special set menu - bread was surprisingly average for a place that seems to place emphasis on this section of the menu. Standout dishes were the school prawns (crispy tasty moreish) and the tapioca pineapple dessert (sweet without being overly so, great balance of textures). Ambience was lovely, low muted conversations and nice art on the walls. Service was warm and efficient.
C. C.
Great service, the food was excellent. We went for the 7 course mikes menu, great value and plenty of food. Wasn't sure about rice pudding for the desert, but I'm converted, was delist. Wine list could do with some work and decor lacks flair, but overall great new Sydney addition. I'd definitely go back!
J. C.
Food is done well, but the waitress who served me thought I could have four dishes on my own when I said I was a little hungry (I'm a small person to boot!). I barely got through two! Glad I hadn't ordered the dessert in advance otherwise there would be a LOT of waste.
j.
Went here with a group of friends and had set menu. It was delicious and could not fault it except for the dessert which was rice pudding& disappointing after decadent dishes, it just seemed out of place. Also red wine list was disappointing and I would like to see some rich , bold , oaky reds that are priced mid range . Other than that AMAZING !!!!!!
R. C.
My review is of my visit in April. The entree portions are much smaller than my visit two months ago. The pate portion was a heaped tablespoon. I feel for the price they could be a bit more generous. Of the current menu the highlight were the scallops, beef tataki, twice baked souffle, persimmon salad, and fig dessert. Don't bother ordering the calamari as it is literally 6 small pieces of calamari. We also ordered the prawns dosa dish, and tofu, these were okay but would not recommend.
M.
Quality was ok but portion was small.
C. L.
The food - Wow. Pork belly and roast chicken, divine. The souffle - if I was in a car accident on the way home I'd still be smiling. The blood orange sorbet, the perfect finish to a rich meal. Great service (if a little too attentive, but then that's a very fine line). In short, highly recommended.
D. G.
Nice decor, the share plates are great for eating out with friends. Most of the dishes we tried were very good - tasty & hearty, and the staff are attentive.
A. K.
Share plate place, would definitely go back, though would put aside the cash to do so. It was probably $70 a head with a glass of wine each. We got the ceviche, the twice-baked cheese, and the lamb shoulder. Plus, I think we got dessert?
Definitely some interesting dishes. Reminded me a bit of the now-defunct Bar Brose.
J. C.

Used a first table promotion. Staff were great and very knowledgeable, particularly on the wines. Food was delicious. Will return
R. N.
Food was very beautiful, creative and fresh. The downside is their tapas size. Too small to share in a group of four but I guess OK for two. Their wine list is pretty expensive. All in all good but won't go back.

Mike is hands down my favourite chef in Sydney. His food is perfect. The ingredients are super fresh and tasty, always seasonal. The combinations are unexpected and fun. There are Italian, French, Japanese influences but every dish is …

Absolutely loved Kitchen by Mike. Delicious food, great atmosphere and excellent service. Great gluten free options too. Highly recommend

We had a lovely dinner at Kitchen by Mike. The food was fabulous so many different flavours and colours. My favourite was the Moroccan brown rice, roasted pepper, olive pie. We also ordered the snapper, chicken, goat's cheese soufflé' and …
M. B.
I went here for a work lunch and had high expectations given the ratings. I was a little disappointed as there were not many gf and DF options available. Not sure if that was because I was there for a 2pm lunch and they had sold out. Quite busy and noisy and would not recommend for a business lunch . Food was tasty
M. O.
Excellent food, very relaxed vibe. An upmarket canteen. Great service, very knowledgeable staff. Will be back.
R. S.
Food and service was great! Especially the side cauliflower was delicious :) The only downside is I think you have a separate menu to choose if you purchase from first tables because there’s not many to pick from...
L. S.
I would highly recommend No. 1 Bent Street. The seasonal menu was diverse and incredibly tasty. The service was excellent and our French waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is upbeat and it has a great vibe. It was a bit on the expensive side, but we did pick the most expensive dishes from the seasonal menu.
J. A.
I am giving this place 5 stars purely out of love for Mary who was the waitress on our table. Despite our age difference of an estimated 30 years I would marry her in a heart beat. She brightened my day 10 fold and made me feel warm and fuzzy. Exceptional service. I’ll be back just to see my girl. Thanks Mary xox
J. L.
The service was excellent, however the food was a let down. Portion sizes were a let down and the flavours did not amaze me and some dishes tasted slightly bland. The ambience was nice and staff were great though.
R. C.
The food is really good the Signature chicken main has breast meat that is so tender. Our thots on the cauliflower have changed from this odd vegetable to something that should be savoured. The duck liver pate was very good with the little preserved vege in it that makes it different (and it does come with bread!!). The spanner crab meat with avo is a little different so ok. The side potato was really good (on the sweet side because the pomegranate caramelised sauce added that extra wonderful taste
M. S.
Great and sophisticated dinner. Delicious combinations in every dish. Food tasty and adequate. Very enjoyable experience, will be coming back 100%.
K. S.
Was there for lunch today and was amazed by the deliciousness of the food. The brussel sprouts with the buttermilk sauce are delightful and the roasted pumpkin is wow! Can't wait to come back.
M. N.
Very friendly staff. Food was great, simple dishes made exceptionally! The interior is simple and clean, lots of space so it means even if it a full house you won't feel crowded.
S. l. G.
Such delicious food , especially catering for Coeliacs . Lovely attentive service , great wine recommendation and very stylish setting . A great city dinner option .
D. M.
The deserts are amazing. Tried 6 to share at our table and they were the best ever. The mains and entree are so different fresh ingredients and innovative. My favourites are the deserts.
B. M.
Fabulous food as always, relaxed fun atmosphere as always with awesome duo Mike and Joss serving up the food....love the return to Kitchen by Mike...HIGHLY recommend!
B. K.
Great place for a gathering, good food and wine. A little unsure if it's meant to be fine dining as it crosses into the trendy smart casual space, but enjoyable set menu and steady service nonetheless.
M. S.
Food is unbelievable. I had the steak. It was so good it might have ruined all other steaks from now on. Bread is basically unlimited for 4$ per person. You won't leave hungry.
M. M.
Best food we've enjoyed for a while. Really honest and full of flavour and bread I'd cross treacherous mountains for. Great lovely service.
K. L.
Used a first table promotion. Staff were great and very knowledgeable, particularly on the wines. Food was delicious. Will return
M. G.
Rustic setting, great service and good food
C. L.
Great service and fantastic food. Good for groups. Had such a good night that I had misplaced my phone. Staff there helped me out. Definitely coming back here as often as I can!
C. T. (.

F.
I just never get Mike's food.
H. H.
Grilled sardines & sumptuous salads. So glad to be back after a trying year. Mike’s the best.
M. H.
Updated review due to management reaching out. Very pleasant follow-up experience outside of a busy promotion. They went above and beyond to make up for a previous issue
M. T.
Nice atomosphre,good food and service
a.
had the 5 course set menu last week, and it was so good! pleasant surprised by the 'surprise' course of lobster tail and scallop, it was devine and highlight of the evening for me!
R. J.
Fantastic service, delicious food, amazing home made sourdough and all accompanied by a delicious bottle of rosé. Thank you! We will be back.
J. D.
Loved the cheese souffle and sticky date pudding!
R. S.
Food was great. Customer service was excellent.
A. G.
Not cheap as you would expect at the airport - pretty full on upsell - I was asked if I wanted a small or medium wine. I wanted a small and got a medium and ii was so quick I didn’t realise I’d been gouged until I sat down and counted my change
L. H.
Gorgeous service, fantastic wine list and the food is so tasty.
Love the casual, but modern ambience. My new fave place x
P. W.
I've been here 3 times already, absolutely love the food here, fresh, seasonal, flavoursome. Wonderful service and ambience. I'll be back!
L. D.
Absolutely loved Kitchen by Mike. Delicious food, great atmosphere and excellent service. Great gluten free options too. Highly recommend
D. H.
This place, though pricey, has an incredible seasonal menu with lovely staff who know the options well. Would recommend for a nice, relatively upscale city lunch
L. A.
We had a great meal here. Service was excellent. Looking forward to going back to try some other things on the menu.
S. L.
Bit disappointed by the food. Bread, pate, chicken and desserts were good, but other dishes were either bland, or with bold flavours that did not really complement the dish.
A. H.
Modern setup and great degustation! The staff were great and attentive with service. Loved my dining experience here! Very busy on a weeknight as well!
M. S. (.
Nice homely food done to a high standard.
J. R.
Very good modern dishes with a Mediterranean/Greek base with service as a wine list to match. Not overpriced.
R. B.
So good. Food, wine, ambiance, price, not too noisy, staff friendly and attentive. Hits all 5 stars. Will definitely come back again.
C. C.
Good food with a very casual ambience and willing staff.
A little on the pricy side.
It is also active on its corporate social responsibility by donating.
A. C.
Great service, share plates were a little small. Roast chicken was a bit pink, overall the food was of high quality
S. M.
It is good, but it feels safely ensconced round the four star mark. Absolutely it's a good feed but you'll pay for it. Service nothing exceptional.
S. F.
Fantastic food, service, ambience and value. Thank you Mike, Gemma and team.
B. T.
Some food were good, some were not that great. The food took almost 1 hour to arrive and it’s very hard to hail a staff, even though the restaurant was not busy.
J. S.
No. 1 Bent St is a great dining experience. The food is great and the staff are very hospitable and knowledgeable. I don't do reviews but I am really happy to give a thumbs up to No. 1!
M. C.
Damnnnn that anchovy butter got me feeling good! Everything was tasty af, and the quince dessert was exceptional. Can’t wait to come back.
A. K. (.
Fresh beautiful food. Plates designed to share. Try their artichokes and beetroot dish as well as that pâté. In fact try all of it. It was great.
S. H.
Dishes were nice but overpriced. 2 out of the 6 dishes were really good, prob worth the costs but the other 4 were just quite standard.
C. H.
First time here. Didn't have a booking. Absolutely fantastic food and attentive service. Would highly recommend.
B. D.
One of the finest dining experiences I've had. The service was faultless to complement the delicious food
A. A.
Service was second to none. Each bite was absolutely delicious. Easy to get to. Ambience was spot on. Cannot fault it!
A. C.
Upscale, but not quite there yet. Nice atmosphere, good table service, good food with moderate flavours, but poor serving size for the price.
R. D.
Excellent food. But the matching wines were a bit too expensive
E. S.
Great food, casual buzzy atmosphere, will return.
B. G.
Great wine and freshly baked bread. Get the lamb to share if you're in a group!
D. H.
Breakfast menu a bit underwhelming, however lunch and dinner on point as you would expect from Mike. Awesome coffee, including filter and espresso.
C. B.
This it was a vendor lunch, and good company. The service was great. They were respectful, kind and accommodating. Definitely recommend
N. W.
Very homely food. Fantastic but extremely buttery. Great if you're looking for a heavy meal.
A. S.
Really good food. On the expensive side especially if you drink wine. The waiters are knowledgeable
A. L.
2 mains our of 5 not available. Sides portions were small. Desserts came without the cutlery to have them. Not worth the money for this degree of mediocrity.
a. k.
Great service, very friendly waiters. Outstanding food, will come back. Very recommended.
J. L.
Thank you for a beautiful meal and excellent service! Perfect place for a special dinner in the city.
M. J.

Great food, great staff, bit of a wait in between dishes, 10% service charge is a bit much.

Good atmosphere, alright food, pushy waitstaff who brought out the check before we'd finished dessert and kept trying to upsell
L. W.
Amazing food, words can not describe. Incredibly warm atmosphere and staff
M. S.
Nice food, but unnecessarily expensive. $5 for one slice of bread with my lunch is a bit much

Stopped here for a quickish lunch after reading about it online. Wish we had something similar at home. Miso marinated eggplant was amazing, pumpkin with coconut yoghurt was also really good, and all at a very reasonable price. Would definitely eat here again and may be back for dinner before we go home. Our only concern is the dinner menu doesn't seem to cater to vegetarians very well.
C. Y.
Mikes Menu is perfection 👌🏼
