Fantastic pizzas. We usually order take away pizzas from La Spiaggia and eat them at the beach. Our favourite is the $15 Margherita pizza. Their $20 calzone is great too.

Amazing italiano experience! My husband has a gluten free diet, when booking the owner of the restaurant was able to arrange GF pasta for him! ♥️ The attention from him and the staff was superb! Really nice Italian restaurant. Great service, great food. Price is a little bit high but for the good quality food, it’s acceptable. We went for birthday dinner, from the starter drinks to the after drink and dessert are all very good quality. Waiters and waitresses are friendly, food served very fast. Nothing really to complain about. The only downside probably will be, if you drive here, it’s hard to find parking. Because it’s a really busy beach area and lots residents live around the restaurant. But overall, I had a really good experience here, definitely recommend to people who want to taste good Italian food.

Visited and dined here very recently. Nicely laid out and the staff were friendly. Service was prompt and our waiter displayed a cheerful demeanour. The pasta dish my partner had was quite nice. The seafood platter (1st choice under the seafood list on the menu) was delicious but quite “sparse”. Yes, our meals were A+ but it is quite pricey for the portion sizes.

Overall I would say it's totally overpriced. Food was ok. Nothing we had was really outstanding. We had prosciutto with mozzarella that was very chewy. Not very nice. Calamari were alright. Nothing special. Not too much flavour. Garlic bread was alright. Homemade green spaghetti with prawns and zucchini were nice but not really special. Cotoletta Alla Milanese was super overpriced. Not tasty at all. Tiramisu and Affogato were delicious. Wine was good, we had a Chardonnay. So overall it was a nice dinner. But for someone that loves Italian food, for 250$ you can get something way better in other places. The service was spot on. Fast, efficient, friendly.

Has a lovely night with my Girlfriend, we booked a table for 2 but traffic was busy and we were going to be late, called in advance (which you should always do to let them know) and was seated when we arrived within 2 minutes, the time they made the table, so friendly ♥️ Food was amazing , my girlfriend had the gnocchi which was melt in your mouth cooked to perfection and I had the risotto, which was so flavourful and absolutely perfect for me but a little too salty for my girl, it's was fire tho I enjoyed it alot, thank you chef. Had a beautiful tiramisu dessert which was worth the price, full of flavour and a wonderful layering of different textures, and btw do order some cocktails as they were so amazing, my mojito so fresh but with a little bit of strength to balance my meal, my girlfriend had the French martini, I had a small taste and I loved it, beautiful work bartender Had to post something for this restaurant, as someone who works in hospitality, this was just what I needed. Probably my most favourite restaurant in Sydney, always serves up amazing food. Highly reccomend the garlic prawns and the chicken La Spiaggia, both dishes are great that you won't be disappointed by. The service is always always attentive and helpful, although I'm a frequent regular so I'm always looked after. The only downside is this restaurant is quite pricey but I don't think you would be sorry pay extra as the food is always top notch.

Fun; good food options and a nice wine list, and friendly service. A little crowded and noisy, and reasonably pricey (though hold that lightly as we ARE talking about a place on the main drag of Coogee). I had the special entree of baby octopus as a main, and along with a rocket salad it was about perfect. Tiramisu was also excellent; not too sweet and with a creamy finish. Service was occasionally a little scattered but not to the point of it being a problem. Would return.

While I notice that there are several bad reviews for this restaurant, I have to say that my first dining experience at this place was quite the opposite. The service we had was both prompt and professional, and the food was outstanding. We were greeted by a lovely man when we walked in, he is the pizza guy I guess, and on top of that he made the best cheese garlic pizza ever! I would recommend this place if you live in Coogee or nearby.

From the moment I waited in line after being disappointed by other venues, a delightful gentleman said it may be a little wait but he will make some food for us at the bar. We happily obliged. Just as we got settled and selected a drink a calm warm hand on my back was met with the host who said he has prepared a table for us. Whilst not the best table in the restaurant with my back to the hallway used by the waiters using as their only route to the kitchen; not once did I notice this to be an issue not did I even remember where I was sitting. That’s a special kind of respect to the diners and must be commended. The waiter kindly put up with my effort in Italian; it’s not often I get to practice but having successfully ordered an entre, mains and drinks the waiter was very gracious, happy and kind. Within a very short moment our entree had arrived. Del olive, absolutely spectacularly simple but divine. Drinks arrived promptly, it was the most thrifty wine on the menu but truly tasted like Jesus was working miracles out the back. A superb merlot at a very proud $7.50 a glass. We would have only got 2/3s through the entree before our mains turned up. A al a carte prosciutto and vegetables and a cannelloni. I tasted the prosciutto and it was heavenly seasoned and buttered. A true melt in your mouth experience. My cannelloni, despite my carnivorous general diet, was a superb spinach and ricotta cannelloni that had the creamiest ricotta I’ve ever encountered. Each bite was as spectacular as the last. This dish was made with absolutely care. The Parmesan offered was enough to dazzle the dish and really add to its awe. Finishing up we had some coffees. Disappointingly there was no soy milk so I opted for a doppio. I don’t ever have sugar in my coffee, so this is a straight double espresso. Absolutely sensational. The grinder was working like a Swiss watch to find the perfect grain to smooth their chosen blend beyond belief. All up. $85, and an absolutely welcome, warm, family environment. Definitely recommend!

We went for a quick bite. . I ordered the pasta marinara. The kids had pizza. The pizza was nice and basic traditional bases. When they came out for the kids it was cut but still needed to be hacked with knife and fork that totally ripped the pizza to mush (pointy steak knife ) the kids were devistated. My pasta was over 30 dollars and looked entree sized . I left hungry Our waiter was good enough. But he was a stand out (good one) and he had a possibly Scottish accent.

Updating my review to add recent experiences. La Spiaggia is still my go to for Italian cuisine in the Eastern suburbs, and my favourite restaurant in the area, even though I no longer live in Coogee. What with recent events in 2020, I found myself wanting a La Spiaggia meal but being hesitant to travel out for it. Deliveroo came to the rescue, and delivered my order less than 15 minutes after I'd put the order in. The pizza was crisp, the bread was warm, and the tomato topping for the bruschetta was cold, as it all should be. And the pizza had on it the extra topping I requested. Yes, their pizza costs more than Domino's, but the reason for it is that it's real Italian pizza not just generic fast food, and they don't scrimp on the quality of ingredients. A pro tip if you're dining in is to check the specials sheet when you walk in, and the blackboard in the back which lists the current special dessert. Some occasional specials of note are their osso bucco, which is an extremely satisfying and generous cool season meal, and if you like crab and pasta with napolitano sauce, their crab pasta. I've enjoyed some of their unusual gnocchi specials and their veal scallopini as well. Another pro tip: If you want just a taste of pasta along with a salad for dinner, because you're watching your kilojoules, order a kids' size Spaghettini a la Ragu along with your salad or small entree. Recommended for after dinner, if you're dining in, is the Espresso Corretto with a shot of sambuca. :-) And then DON'T put sugar in it before you taste it, or you'll regret it. I can't believe how many decades of my adult life went by before I found out about that; it's the best coffee drink that's ever been invented. Some comments about points raised in other reviews. Yes, it's pricy compared to the Western suburbs or Inner West. We locals call it the "Eastern Suburbs tax." It's pretty much a given around here that things will cost more along the water in the Eastern suburbs than they will elsewhere in Sydney. There are well known and well-liked venues in the area that offer lesser quality food for similar prices. And no, their pastas (at least those that come with red sauce) are not typically swimming in sauce; this is the authentic Italian approach, in which the pasta rather than the sauce is the standout ingredient. If you want more sauce than usual, just ask that they put a bit extra on, when you order it. My review from 2 years ago: Ran into friends as I walked in and was invited to join them for dinner. We had mixed seafood grill plated and pasta, shared family style. Despite being a seafood fan regular here, I'd never had the grilled seafood plate. It contained bug, prawn, squid tubes, mussels, and a portion of fish fillet, and everything I tried was cooked to perfection. Service here is consistently good and La Spiaggia is a proper restaurant rather than a cafe. I recommend it for Italian in Coogee.
