Comments of Le Tres Bon

Without exception, the best French restaurant in the greater ACT/NSW region.
Exceptional dishes with influences from North Eastern France (and Northern Italy), Le Tres Bon excels at honest down to earth French quisine which quantifies the balance and range expectations with excellent wine parings from the region.
The chef is a passionate Frenchman and is vigorous and unrelenting in his adaption of French classics to the local palette.
Recommend destination, located in Bungendore.

Best restaurant in Bungendore and one of the best in the Canberra region. I have never had a bad meal at this restaurant.

We had a wonderful meal here last Sunday. The duck, chicken and pork rillettes; duck confit with orange sauce; cassoulet; crepe Suzette and Bergamot creme brûlée were particularly tasty. The young male waiter was very sweet. Tables were well spaced out and there was hand sanitizer at a few spots in the restaurant so we felt it was a safe environment.

Highly recommend the dishes currently being served as takeaway due to Covid. Both the beef burguignon and creme brulee were absolutely delicious. Good sized meal too. Ordering was easy and the meals were ready for pick up on time. Brilliant.

It never fails to impress. The Christmas Eve dinner was magnificent. My wife and daughter loved it as well.

Really enjoyed my recent trip to this restaurant! Very authentic and you can tell the chef puts a lot of effort in the food. The atmosphere is rustic and interesting.

Le Tres Bon was an unexpected treat. The food was absolutely exquisite - the duck was to die for, the steak was cooked to perfection and the terrine was scrumptious. All of the staff were lovely and very attentive. The chef came out and greeted every table, checking on their meals and experience. His wife who runs the restaurant was also a delight to chat to. Incredible experience and cannot wait to return.

It was the first time we’ve dined at this restaurant, and we were so impressed with both the food and the friendly staff last night. They have an amazing winter menu on offer - I had the French onion soup, the beef bourguignon, and the crepes suzette and each dish was so tasty and perfect. My husband had the escargot, the orange duck and the creme brûlée and he said they were all perfect dishes. They said they would be changing their menu in a few weeks for the change in season and I can’t wait to see what dishes they put up. They also have some great French and Australian wines and the atmosphere was lovely. We will definitely be dining there again!

My second visit with friends.
Truffle 3 courses menu was very good. BUT!
Onion soup.....was a disaster! Diluted and taste nothing like what it used to. Onions wasn't even caramelized.
French onion soup is such a signature dish for a French restaurant, it's like Chinese restaurant can't get fried rice right.
May be kitchen staff is too focus on getting Truffle dishes perfect.
Hope it gets better next time.

A French themed restaurant in a cottage setting. Offers well known traditional home-style dishes which have proved themselves popular for generations. There are around 4-5 choices for each course. The restaurant is licenced with a small but adequate wine list of local, Australian and French wines. Consistently good food at reasonable prices.

Exceptional service, outstanding atmosphere, where else does the head chef come out to talk to all the customers... and the food, well, choose anything. There are no wrong or lesser choices on the menu. It is all wondrous!!!!!

My husband and I went to Le Tres Bon for the first time last night. It was a wonderful experience, freshly prepared food, not pre-cooked like many restaurants.
The atmosphere was cosy, relaxed and intimate. The restaurant continued through the evening being filled with warmth and humor provided by our hostess Josephine. The meals were spaced out but this a very minor price to pay for excellent fresh and beautifully prepared dishes.
On leaving we were farewelled by both the Chef and our hostess once again a lovely way to finish off an evening. We will definitely being going back for a very long time and can highly recommend the experience to anyone.

The food and service, equally fantastic. If you are a fan of French cuisine and wine, this is the place. Only 30 minutes drive from our home in Canberra.

Great French provincial cuisine, cosy cottage setting with cheery ambience. Went there for our anniversary and was treated to a superb feast by the friendly chef and owner Christophe. Friendly service, great food and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Place is an absolute gem. Simple, uncomplicated menu that might not change often but is worked to perfection. It's a little family business so waits on food are expected - if you whinge about how long you had to wait for your mains you obviously don't belong. It's not really a restaurant it's more like youre having dinner at your mum's place - if your mum can cook well that is. Worth all money and time.

A really nice restaurant not far from Canberra. The food is exquisite and the place is charmful. Needless to say that owners are passionate and talented. We will have to go back to test desserts or maybe join for a truffle menu event.

A quiet and bijou French restaurant with a quaint atmosphere. The staff are accommodating and knowledgeable. The chef will try to greet patrons when possible. Various bric a brac is also for sale. The food is hand made from local produce or French imports. Definitely worth the visit for a special occasion.

We often celebrate a special occasion with a night out at Bungendore's French restaurant, Le Tres Bon. The food and service are both always excellent. The special truffle menu that is available during winter to coincide with the local truffle harvest is quite pricey but delicious.
