Straight forward but quite a big menu, definitely something for someone type of place. Price is a bit steep for us for what it is, as nothing comes with any sides/sauces, and those and add ons, but still delicious and filling. The burgers were a better deal than the steaks, but considering how many restaurants are around, we might not come back.

A really good modern and casual butcher-restaurant with some simple and honest food prepared really well. The menu has an emphasis on meat dishes, from which we tried an Angus rib-eye cutlet and pork ribs - both were satisfying and full of flavour. The sides we ordered were also great - the fries were crispy and well seasoned, the mash was very smooth and buttery. Recommended for non-fancy food that's simply delicious.

Macelleria in Newtown has got to be one of the best places a Meat lover could possibly go for a night out with Friends or Family, the Food is absolutely Spectacular! With a huge range of Meat to select from, with its own in house butcher, you can't go wrong.. The atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly and the Meat is cooked to absolute perfection! A large spacious restaurant serving a large array of foods. They specialise in steaks. We ordered their rump steak and chicken burger but surprisingly the chicken burger was more impressive than the steak! Their chips are also to die for!

We had wagyu rump steak, angus scotch fillets, some mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and beetroot kale salad. Yummmmm! Thats all I can say. However I recommend making reservation or go early as tables are limited. The meat are really good and good value compared to many high end steak restaurants I know. When it was busy we had a 30 minute wait but was all worth it. Although we received the wagyu overcooked we asked for a new portion they gave us a replacement within 10 minutes. Great server service and clean. Love it and will definately go again!

If you’re after a great steak & quick service this is definitely the place for you! Food came out so fast & the steak was amazing! The sides are great as well, loved the sweet potato wedges, the kale salad & the coleslaw.

I went to try this place as I read super nice reviews about it and I love my steaks. Spent 130 dollars on a dinner for 2. We ordered the eye fillet, the mushroom beef burger, the scotch fillet, two sides of prawns, rustic fries, mushroom sauce, lychee daiquiri, apple cider and a ciabatta bread. EVERYTHING WAS UNDER SEASONED. Like bland. I had to add salt and pepper to everything we ordered. The prawns were good but again not seasoned at all 7/10 The eye fillet was cooked to perfection but it was not seasoned at all 9/10 The scotch fillet was chewy and tough. I asked for it to be cooked to a medium but it was so tough and dry and not seasoned at all 3/10 The rustic fries were solid. Crispy, crunchy, delicious 10/10 The beef burger we got at first was dry and probably one of the worst burgers I’ve had it was a 2/10 BUT THEN we sent it back and they sent us a fresh one that wasn’t over cooked and it jumped to a 7/10 so good on them for fixing it. The mushroom sauce was good and seasoned well 8/10 The ciabatta was a a disappointment I wouldn’t even rate it. It was a 0. The oil they gave with it tasted like bland olive oil, it was disgusting , the bread was not seasoned, it arrived to my table absolutely cold. NO ONE LIKES COLD BREAD. Infuse the oil with chill not just throw a spoon of chill into olive oil. the bread completely threw me off. we ate a piece each and left it. :( The drinks were pretty decent. I was super sad with my experience, I’ve been wanting to try this place since I moved to Sydney. And now I’m just sad. :( I didn’t even take pictures of the food as I was so hungry. Took a video instead but can’t upload it here. I’ve attached a picture of the bread tho.

Macelleria is always sooo good- they have good menu options, the meat is so fresh and always cooked perfectly. I cannot fault this restaurant, it’s brilliant in all ways possible! 🤤 🥩 Ps. Don’t visit if you’re a vegan 😂

29/11/2021 - Dine in We ordered the scotch fillet, wagyu rump, duck sausage and wagyu skewer and they were all amazing and delicious. Service was good and I love how fresh the cuts are. Would definitely recommend!

The food was fast. The serving size was good. The menus are easy to read. It delivered was I expected from a steak house. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Highly recommend Marcellaria the food and service was amazing, our meals didn’t take long to come out. our teenage son, daughter and niece all enjoyed there burgers. My TBone steak and my wife’s lamp cutlets were delicious. The only negative and its not really that. The lighting is a bit gloomy and dark. The matt black ceiling doesn’t help bounce any light around. If they possibly painted some white stripes on the ceiling not only would this represent a butchers apron but help spread a bit of ambient light around and a brighten it up a tad. Definitely will be back with friends.

Had dinner here Saturday ṉight - was very busy but felt it was under control. The waiters and floor staff were welcoming and attentive without needing to be at our table every 2 minutes. Food was outstanding - my steak was medium rare on point and the burger my wife chose was juicy and very tasty. I will be going back and will be recommending to friends and family.

Came in with a large group of upwards of 15 people, and staff were accomodating and very friendly. Our table was clean and we were served professionally by very friendly staff. The food was excellent too, however the most positive aspect of the night was the time it took for the food to arrive. Needing to leave, I asked for my food to be made slightly quicker (assuming 15 dishes all coming at once would take some time) and the staff went above and beyond to make this happen for me. I don't normally write google reviews, but from the friendliness and professionalism of the staff to the delicious food, Macelleria Newtown was too perfect to not comment on. 5 stars well deserved.

They cook good steaks. I ordered a dry-aged rump wagyu with some sides and they are delicious. I especially like the sweet potato chips. The price is decent too for this quality of food. I will definitely come back for more.

Best Steaks in Sydney Hands down this is the place to go to if you feel like a delicious steak. Great price for the quality of the steaks. Also the sides and sauces are delicious. Peppercorn sauce, garlic potatoes, sweet potato fries and the veggies go down well with the steaks. There is a wide range of steaks to choose from. The front is like a butcher shop where you pick your steaks. They also got heaps of other food to choose from.

Really cool place and the steak was as good as advertised. We also got the Ragyu pasta and cheesesteak and it was all phenomenal. Best surprise for me was the pricing, I thought it was outstanding for the quality of cut you get.

Dined here on a reasonably busy Tuesday evening. We ordered halloumi and garlic prawns to begin with along with a couple of drinks. The food came out very quick and both dishes tasted really good. Our drinks took about 20/25 minutes (one beer and one soft drink). I ordered the eye fillet and my partner ordered the T bone, we also got a side of veggies and mash. The steaks arrived with the mash but the veggies never arrived. I also ordered another soft drink with my meal which didn’t arrive either. We didn’t want to wait any longer for the rest of the food/my drink to arrive so got up to pay. When speaking to the girl at the counter she was apologetic and removed the items we didn’t receive. Overall I would come back for the eye fillet, it was cooked to perfection

Great little chain with really massive premises at the heart of newtown. The specialty here is clearly meat - although it does have some fish and some vegetarian options and salads. It's like a butchers counter where you choose your cut and the team cook it to perfection for you. Prices moderate/ decent and great range of cuts. Highly recommended for groups as well the space is substantial.

Great concept and well executed. We loved their sweet potato chips + beef and chicken satay best - lamb was a little underwhelming. Great atmosphere and staff went the extra mile on more than one occasion, which we appreciated! PS We were there for a snack after a night at the Comedy Festival, and there must’ve been over 25 staff members...! Didn’t see what was upstairs, but imagine it must be huge.

Incredible quality food and drinks, can not recommend them enough. The duck and orange sausage is absolutely fantastic. Treat yourself to the tomahawk, it's worth it. Get the truffle chilli bernaise sauce, you won't regret it.

STUNNING FOOD & CUSTOMER SERVICE! Been to this restaurant twice and both of my visits there were great. From the lovely, helpful customer service to the quality of the food and the perfect way it is cooked, this establishment is a must try. Clearly the management has understood a very basic algorithm : great quality food, decent prices and great customer service = successful business & happy customers willing to come back. (Which, surprinsingly enough, most businesses in Sydney still seem not to understand in 2020). Special thanks to Paola the amazing waitress for her outstanding customer service and to the amazing chef from Bangladesh who offered an amazingly friendly experience and service. Have been multiple times since 2020. Recommend T bone with prawn topper for couples. No sauce needed as the prawn topper has yummy sauce. My girlfriend and I really keen on the steak set, adding 10 dollars for two sides, but it has been removed since Reopened. Also, since reopening, the steak is a little bit overcooked, so we wonder if Macelleria changes chief?

I have never had meat that was so soft and tender that just melts in your mouth ever!!!! It was amazing and well priced went there with my husband for my birthday dinner and will definitely be returning and have not stopped telling family and friends how exceptional the food was... absolutely outstanding!!

I was sure I had already given these guys a five star, I always enjoy their burgers, I end up eating two, I just can't help myself, they have a great selection of meat and know how to cook it, i will always say yes when this place is suggested it's an easy choice to go to but a difficult choice when deciding what to eat, I want it all.

A nice place with a good menu and reasonable prices. It was pretty quiet when I was there so didn't have to book or wait but I can imagine it gets busy at times. Food was good and everything was in order. Can easily recommend and would be happy to come back again.

Absolutely great. I must admit, i am quite picky when it comes to my steaks when eating out, as i have quite good relationships with butchers and usually cook great quality cuts at home. When my partner wanted to visit here, i was quite sceptical, but was greeted with absolutely phenomenal service and awesome food with a great atmosphere. The concept of picking what you want as you see it in front of you is unique and definitely one to try. My steak was cooked to utter perfection (rare) and my partner got the cheese steak which was also absolutely great. The meals are well priced, the persian rice was awesome and all round it was a plesent experience. The front of counter waitress/manager had a good vibe and was on top of everything plus was all round just a good hearted nice dude. Will definitely be returning when im in the area again.

In general, we had a great experience dining at Mecelleria. The meat and wine we ordered were both excellent. But the grilled mixed veg was a disappointment. Hence the four stars instead of five. The kitchen made a mistake of our order and served us roasted potatoes first. After we pointed it out, the waiting staff apologized and took the dish with him. After a while he returned, with a plate of 80% roast potatoes and two pieces of broccoli, several pieces of carrot, one piece of sweet pea and a cob of corn that’s hardly edible (see attached photo, which was taken after we ate one piece of the broccoli and half of the potatoes). Of course root vegetables are still vegetables. But this one really felt like it was the roast potatoes with a few pieces of veggies chucked into top of it. We will still come back, but we believe this great restaurant could do better than this.

The burgers are great. They are juicy and cooked to perfection. The only downside is the price. We spent over $60 for two people. We each had a burger, a side and a drink (not alcohol). The staff are friendly and we enjoyed the space. They look like they have a good selection beyond the burgers too.

Sadly disappointed about this place. Appreciate Covid has had an impact on things overall but the quality was just not there. The two wines we had were of poor quality for the price - but it was busy and was happy for a table so didn’t make any drama about it . The olives and bread were fine as an entree. The mixed grills we ordered came out separately, they forgot one and again we understood as it was busy. Sides came out after we had finished the one mixed grill. An apology blamed the team. The mixed grill sadly was dry- very dry- we did request medium rare - didn’t happen. The brisket was bone dry and crispy - no flavour - basically over cooked. When we told the hostess there was a half hearted apology and then “are you ready to pay”- we just wanted to leave so paid in full. Was all about the $$$ and not the customer. Overall it was a complete miss and highly unlikely that we will return. For a bill that came to $220, it was not worth what we paid. Update: couldn’t find where to respond. Thank you for your explanation and offer of a credit. When we return to your establishment again, which we will to be fair we won’t require the credit thank you - it’s more about the sincere apology which we have got. We will let you know when we do return as a courtesy and have changed my rating overall as your explanation is a fair response to the difficulties that you are experiencing.
