We come to Mejico every time we're in Sydney. It is simply stunning Mexican food paired with outstanding tequila. On the food: everything is great. Ask your waiter for their recommendations if you can't choose. On the tequila: if you're not sure how to order, use their cute wooden slider to select your preferred taste, intensity, and price point, and they'll bring you the one that suits you. It's a great system and a lot of fun.

We have been couple of times to this restaurant and has been a great experience. The small dishes are great and are good portions good for sharing especially halloumi and beef tacos. The cocktails are also great along with mains. The portions of mains are not very huge but good for one person. Overall it has great food & ambience. Highly recommend this place.

I am torn on this one because while it was a pretty enjoyable meal it really just wasn't particularly Mexican. It reminded me more of upmarket tapas restaurants in Spain. I mean, the best dish of the evening was the patatas bravas. The barramundi veracruzana was quite nice, the fish was well cooked, and the sauce was good though could have done with a bit of fire. The watermelon salad was a nice touch. I personally found the guacamole to be too tart but that may come down to preference rather than correctness. The jackfruit tacos were not great though, the flavour balance was just strange. The prices are typical Sydney prices ($20+ for entrees, $30+ for mains). The red and rose sangrias that I had were pretty bland, though my friends' cocktails were good. The service was friendly but tremendously slow.

Took my partner here yesterday and we both enjoyed our dinner. My partner usually doesn't like guacamole (crazy I know) but he loved the one made at our table here! Tacos are absolutely delicious in particular I really enjoyed the soft shell crab taco. Chicken tacos had a lovely smokiness to it. My cocktail the Elderflower Sour was amazing. Very easy on the palette. Staff were top notch. Perfect service. Everything tasted so good that I forgot to take photos😅 Will definitely go back again and next time I'll take some photos!

Great food and ambience! We only took some small dishes and tacos, but will definitely come back to try some of their other dishes. My favourite was the salmon tacos, closely followed by the Jalapeño poppers. The former was juicy and very tasty, and the latter tasted amazing with a nice crunch on the outside!

One of my all time faves. Every single visit is always as good if not better than the last. The minute you set foot in Mejico you are greeted with professionalism, warmth and impeccable service. The food is delicious and quick. No 30 minute waits. Have been for lunch and dinner and each have been excellent. I would highly recommend the banquet to try a bit of everything. Fresh, fabulous and fantastic. Thank you to the wonderful staff, the charismatic English man that seated us and the beautiful lady that served our table for our visit. Huge love to you all x

Great place for girls night! Tequila, delicious pineapple margaritas and delicious food! Octopus and meat were a little over cooked but everything else on our degustation was delicious from the guac to the ceviche and especially the dessert! Highly recommend giving this place a try!

if you’re looking for authentic Mexican this is not it. They do however have some good dishes, others are average so overall not worth the prices. Cocktails are great and vibe is pretty cool. All people have to have the same shared menu which is not stated on the menu.

Mejico was AMAZING! Food was phenomenal, we tried the simple fixed menu ($69) and couldn't finish all the courses - although we did get the Margarita cheesecake to take away. Jalapeno and Watermelon Margaritas both sensational and very complimentary to each other. Efficient, friendly staff and service, not only will be be back, but we will be trying Indu and Kid Kyoto soon as well.

Such good food at this place! I can’t recommend it highly enough. It has a great vibe and friendly staff and the decor is gorgeous. The beef tacos are to die for and the corn chips with salsa and corn ribs are out of this world. Would go back in a heartbeat.

My partner wanted Mexican so found this place on a ‘top eats’ list in Sydney, it did not let us down- in fact, it should be number 1 on the list in our opinion!! The fun looking interior alone was enough to tickle our intrigue! We were greeted by friendly staff with way more energy than what I do on my best days.. We were looked after by Lisa who ensured our needs were met & exceeded our expectations in service.This place is such a gem.. Not only are the dishes presented like a magazine shoot but the food & drinks actually taste tantalisingly terrific!!! I had to restrain myself from storming in the kitchen & thanking each chef with hugs like a good friend you haven’t seen in a decade! Food is very fresh tasting, it’s elevated Mexican food & everything we were looking for for a lunchtime feast. Our only regret is not getting the largest set menu as we didn’t want it to stop!! Will definitely be going back for sure, even my fussy 13y.o. loved it! This truly is one of very few places I’d recommend to try & a must for any Mexican foodie. I’d say it’s good for families, friends, big & small groups of all ages (I’d even sneak here on my own). Thanks chefs!!!! From us 3 xo

I've been at Mejico several times and really enjoy this place in general , the service was excellent, nice & amicable staff, however, the recent experience was a bit disappointing. The menu has changed after a Covid reopening and the the food isn't exciting anymore. Hope the management will consider the food offered.

The only slight negative was that Mejico is very noisy; I think the long, narrow shape may contribute to this. While it was great to see such a good restaurant busy, it was a bit difficult to converse. A minor quibble; overall, it was an excellent dining experience.

Great Mexican Cuisine Experience! From avocado pieces, lemon, chilli, red onion etc. it gets all mushed together in front of you, creating the perfect dip for plantain chips!⁣ ⁣ If you love corn like I do, definitely try their corn ribs! The sauce and cheese it comes with compliments the dish so well 😊. ⁣ ⁣ In their spicy fried chicken, the watermelon acts as a good cooling agent for 🔥🔥. Overall, great Mexican flavours and creativity in the mix 😁.

Food and drinks are always great here. The table layout along the wall needs some thought as Getting in and out of the booth side is hard as all the tables are jammed together really close. We were suprised how close we all were considering covid, with both tables next to us mentioning they were suprised the table between them was filled assuming it was the spacer table. I Wouldnt go again if I had to sit along there. both food and drinks are really good. Birthday celebration was completey ignored.

Great friendly service. Great tasting fresh food. Not much variety to choose from for food. It is very limited. They are accommodating for dietary alterations which is good. The watermelon cocktail we had didn't taste nice. The seating is comfortable but a bit cramped. Everything is on the pricy side, and serving sizes are very small. The servers go above and beyond and ensure you're having a really enjoyable experience. The ambience and environment inside is very warm and welcoming with some interesting themed decor. A great experience overall. Although I probably won't come back for the food. The options are too limited and expensive and serving sizes too small. However, I will come back for a fun day or night outing with some companions and beverages.

Great spot with some lovely Mexican flavours. There are some decent vegetarian options. The tacos are great and the charcoal pumpkin is really tasty. Have been here numerous times and the fare is still tasty. It’s loud in the restaurant but that’s the only note, but that’s because it’s packed.

The place gets so crazy on a Saturday night! Was a good experience, the staff were so friendly and attentive considering how busy it was. It does get nosy from other diners so can be a little difficult to have a date. Definitely recommend for a good night out, they have an extensive range of tequila! Sadly dessert was a little let down the sticky date pudding was dry. Also everyone raves on about the guacamole being amazing it was average nothing too special.

Went in with high hopes. The set menu was a bit of a damper. Was told that the portions were large enough to be shared by 2 diners. When I got the bill, I was charged for 2 set menus. Not worth for the size of the portions. The pros: good location, good ambience and very friendly and professional staff. Will be good to have more clarity on the set menu - we should have been informed that we will automatically be charged for 2 as we were a couple with 1 child. Please ditch the set menu model and go in for the a la carte, else its not worth it. We wanted an alternative for the trout and were only offered beetroot??! The jalapeno poppers and beef tacos were really good! The roast chicken has room for improvement. Not a fan of set menus. Hope to go back for a la carte.

Decent Mexican food but wouldn’t come back. Service - let’s start with the best point first. The service is great, the recommendations beautiful and they even make the guacamole at your place. Drinks - yummy Margaritas and an amazing variety of tequila. Food - well, it is alright. Nothing to complain about but the special spark is missing I guess. I would’ve expected more since the prices are on the higher end of the scale. Location - conveniently located next to the Hunter Connection and Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant. Overall, I would not come back. I can get better food at a better location for the same price.

Definitely some of the best Mexican food I have had. If you can name a better Mexican place in Sydney (please accept this challenge), I haven’t heard of it. Food was incredible and the service was impeccable. If it is your first time going there, I would strong recommend the items marked as “Signature” on the menu. There is a reason they are signatures. Visited for my birthday dinner , had the feed me menu at the table and the make it smooth Margherita.Yhe food was really nice, except the crispy fish taco and the kingfish Ceviche didn't use really fresh fish.Both me and my partner could make out from the flavour s that the fish definately was not fresh.The jalapeno poppers in my opinion lacked a punch , a bit of citrus would boost the flavour . The star of the meal was the smokey pork 🌮 ,the mole sauce under the chicken and the corn ribs .The service was really nice and attentive, infact too attentive.They kept taking the plates off without asking even when there was some sauce on the plate or dip left over ...in my case I was looking fwd to licking off the yummy Dulche de leche served with the churros in the end .But all in all would I come back...yes definately and also recommend it .Look into the finer flavors and seasoning of the food would be my only suggestion as a big foodie

Great tacos and a whole lot of tequila and mezcal! Faves include the 'Meat from the pit', ceviche and all of the Street Snacks menu. Tableside smash obligatory. 🥑🥑 Located a stone's throw from Wynyard and Martin Place, a convenient after work spot for food and cocktails. The servings could be a little larger and the service felt overstretched on both weeknights that I've been. The desserts are a bit meh.

The atmosphere was buzzing and would be ideal for a date due to the layout. However, when it came to the food, considering the amount being paid, the portions were meagre. While other photos I viewed prior to going there showed larger portions, I was slightly surprised. The fried chicken had significantly larger servings than the similarly priced dish below, but ultimately the quality of the food even without consideration for the pricing and portions was still very mediocre. The staff were all super attentive and welcoming. In summary: the atmosphere and staff were amazing. However, the food was slightly overpriced and lacklustre.

Went to Mejico for a mid week dinner and this is the best Mexican we have come across. Highlights of our dinner were the guacamole and plantain chips and the jalapeño poppers. The tacos were delicious and the drinks were great too. Had Churos and the coconut desert both of them were 5/5. We received friendly and timely service. Only note is that the fried chicken lacked a bit of flavour and the chairs could be a bit more comfortable for a 2 hour dinner.

Excellent food - loved the Guacamole with plantain chips, Corn Lollipops, and the Yucatan Fish. Signature dishes highlighted in the menu were well worth trying, like the Smoked Mushroom Tacos as they were fantastic. Definitely get the Watermelon Salad too. A good range of gluten free and vegetarian options too. Only downside was that it is a very noisy restaurant, so if your wanting to catch up with friends it was hard to hear and the ones who commented on the noise were in their mid 20s.

We try quite a few on the menu, every category we choose one signature suggested dish. This place is more of a fanciful restaurant once in while you visit I guess. We started with a must-try entree smashed table side guacamole , Serrano chilly, Spanish onion, coriander dip with plantain chips. It's gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian goodness served in authentic and simple ceramic mortar. And next is tacos with hickory & honey smoked brisket, Pink pickled onion, cabbage, mustard seeds, spicy nutty house made salsa macha. The smoked brisket is so well seasoned and balanced between sweet and salty, spicy and sour 😘😘 highly recommend these lovely babes. And then, lamb ribs marinated with honey and camomile glaze 😆😆 get fingertips wet and sticky in every bite 🙊🍖🍖 Too much sweetness and honey for this one, we left one rib left cause it's too sweet. Grilled baby octopus and the fish fillet were nice but you have to wait around 20 mins for the fish, as warned by the waitress. We finish with the best cheesecake slices served on small biscuits that fits your mouth and left a little bitterness after taste. It was expensive but worthwhile and probably because it is situated in CBD area and we eat a lot 😂😂

We also didn’t get to have the guac made in front of us like everyone else did but nevertheless our waiter was so lovely and was very attentive, he actually made sure to check up on us when he said he would and did so throughout the night. Do not take your teenage son here. But despite this the place is almost always chocas with people and it is a lovely atmosphere. Casually walking the mostly deserted streets of Sydney CBD on Good Friday (having just driven 8 hrs from Melbourne) we stumbled across lively Mejico. We were welcomed by the outstanding Madi! She is an absolute asset to your business - warm, friendly, bubbly.. this list could go on for quite some time. She made sure to touch base with us while we waited for our table, topped up our water and mixed our yummy guacamole together. She also noticed our empty table at the end of the night and swiftly grabbed our bill. We loved every single thing then, they had jalapeño poppers to die for, corn cob with chipotle sauce on top and few popcorn(never had better), beef tacos simply delicious, tuna tostadas...yuuummm!!! But... this year they didn’t have the corn, they did some modifications on the beef tacos and the jalapeño poppers were different. Still delicious but not to die for. I wish they never changed the menu. Staff is always nice and friendly. Service is great.

I also really liked the playlist (if it's public on spotify Mejico pls reply lol) The house margarita features egg whites, which gives a frothy softness that I loved. Mejico is one of my favourite restaurants however last night we had the Christmas set menu and it was disappointing. The gaucamole was brilliant as always and the kingfish great, the main course pork was not good at all. And the dessert bland although it did look pretty. Came here before a show at the Recital Hall and admittedly we were 15 minutes late for our booking but the staff were really accommodating and understanding about it. But the drinks and tacos came out really quick which was great because we were starving! But then the mains took a while because the chef made a mistake apparently which then meant we had to scoff down our meal and be late to the show at the Recital Hall. The waiter came back three times to confirm our drinks order - he clearly did not understand what we were trying to order. Drinks came about 40 mins later while we were well into our meal. We also ordered their guacamole and plantain chips which was made at your table so you can see exactly what goes inside and just simply amusing to watch. The look and feel of this place was great! But For the prices, not equally impressed with the food. Signature guacamole mixed at our table was a novel show but it was so bland I had to ask for more lime, salt, and some hot sauce to the table so I could remake it. [note: server asks how spicy you want and then added chili? But I think the dish may have had tomato paste instead because despite taking nearly all the ‘red stuff’ the guacamole was void of any flavor- no smoky, no citrus, no heat.] We had trout ceviche and tuna tostadas which were fresh and tasty, the signature pan meat which was a few thin, well seasoned lamb cutlets, and finished with the pork tacos (best dish of our meal). For Mex food in Sydney, I’d vote the fast food chains as more authentic in flavor but these dishes were much fresher and likely much healthier.

Came here almost a year ago and can still remember how delicious the food was. Although pricey, it was by far the best mexican food I've tasted and was well worth the money. The chilled kingfish carpaccio and the sticky squid ink octopus were my two favourites. The staff provided exceptional customer service even on a busy night. Great food, great atmosphere and a very lasting impression. Good work.

Amazing food however the portions are very small. I am seeing the imported culture of tipping from the US gradually coming to Australia. The tipping imposing culture it’s a tool for the restaurants to transfer the costs to the costumers and escape paying their staff a decent wage. People should stop tipping to stop this ridicules system spreading in Australia. Don’t cut the wages of your staff.

Mejico has been consistently good since it opened. I never get bored of seeing them make the guacamole at the table. I love variety of tacos and the mains on offer. I always have a great night when I come here and always look forward to coming back.

Tuna tostadas, avocado and feijoa ceviche and jalapeno poppers were amazing. Chicken tacos were below average. Food and service was good, but tables were placed too close to one another that I had to squeeze through to get to my seat. There was also trash behind some cushions which should have been cleaned up before anyone was seated at the table. I'd go back for the food.

Nice ambience, but service falls short by a mile. Staff seemed quite uninterested - Had to ask several times for everything. No one really came up and checked! When asked for veg options on the menu, the staff response was not helpful at all! Food was ok - the table side guac was good though! Sticky date was terrible!! Overall it was an average experience - way short of the expectations (from the ratings) !

Pretty tasty menu - thought it was a bit expensive for Mexican but i guess it was above average quality. Service was great - everyone knew a lot about the menu and it was the first day with the new menu. Food came out too fast. We were pretty much done within an hour - I don't want to be rushed when I'm paying $50 a head (no alcohol)

If you like Tequila this is the place to go. I was amazed by the variety they had. The jalapeño margaritas are amazing. A must have when you visit. Exceptional service to top off the delicious food.

Went for a girls catch up dinner and the place was packed. The food was cute and perfect for nibbling, so portion wise, don't go if you're very very hungry. Service was fine, and the venue made sure they packed in as many tables and chairs, so it was a tight squeeze. A great place to have a cocktail.

The food here is nice, i really liked th cevich and steak we had. i have been here twice and have felt the service is a bit rushed, particularly with the set menu it feels like you are being rushed out the door so the table can be made free for someone else.
