Comments of NOLA Smokehouse and Bar

Wow! What a great restaurant. It’s located on the first floor of building in Barangaroo area. Restaurant is open aired with views of water. Atmosphere is fun and lively and the wait and bar staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. And then there’s the food and cocktails…which are absolutely delicious. We ordered the St Louis sour, the Buffalo Theory cocktail, wedge salad, ribs, snapper and fries and finished off with a couple of desserts. What a great night!

I shared a brilliant dinner with the wife and kids at Nola, it’s a great venue, great fitout and vibe.
Even though there wasn't a kids menu the staff went out of the way to ensure they were well looked after.
As for the food, the Steak Tartare was great.
But the highlight were the Ribs and Brisket, super high quality American style Bbq, great smoke ring, right amount of bark, and superb flavour profile.
The tenderness of the Ribs were they way they are meant to be, nice bite mark, tender, but without the meat falling off the bone. One thousand times better than Hurricanes.

Great service. Killer cocktails. Came back for dinner after a positive bar experience super. Love the French quarter vibe. The habanero sauce on the porks is so delicious

Heard some good reviews on NOLA and finally went for a busines lunch couple of months ago. Highlights of the meal were the Dry Rubbed Carolina Pork Ribs and Blacken Free Range Chicken. The menu is on pricey ends for the serving size. Overall an okay dining experience.
I share the sentiment of the other reviewer about confusion of sparkling water (serving side by side with no cost tap water) costing $5 per person, perhaps a courtesy to inform customers of its price would be appreciated.

We booked the french quarter room for an intimate wedding ceremony/reception.
We had a lovely time. The french quarter room was lovelier in person, we were pleasantly surprised.
Our guests raved on how good the food was, the serving size beyond their expectations.
All the staff that looked after us were great, they were accommodating, friendly and made sure that all our needs were attended to. Special mention to Sarah (events) who patiently answered all our questions and requests. She is very responsive and detail oriented.

We came early and decided that we would enjoy a drink in the bar before we had dinner. The staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly, answering all my questions about the wine I was interested in and generally having great conversation. The bar is really well done and we loved everything about it, we wished we had come earlier to experience the bar fully. When we moved into the restaurant we loved the ambiance and view from it, being right on sunset it was beautiful. The staff up until this point had been great, however, we found our waitress rather rude and officious. From ordering drinks to food we felt rushed and that we couldn’t spend much time. Further while we were eating she kept resetting our table with chairs (most likely for service the next day), thus adding to us feeling that we weren’t welcome. I have worked in hospo before, and even on my busiest nights I would never have behaved like this. When we come back we will definitely stick to the bar and eat elsewhere.

We were lucky to get a booking for the first night re-open. The wait staff were apologetic for being rusty, but we were just thankful to be there! The lamb was our favourite. The bill does creep up with the shared mains and cocktails though.

Great place and ambiance!!
However the brisket was dry, quite disappointing to be honest as it's a smokehouse.
G. G.
Delicious food, great ambiance, and our server and the other staff were really good.
T. M.
Staff here honestly set the bar so high when it comes to hospitality. Service was impeccable and outstanding. From the moment me and my partner walked in we were greeted with such a lovely smile and food was amazing. Every staff member is well trained in everything that needs to be done and I would definitely bring my parents here next time. 5 out of 5.
A. N.
Amazing night. Service was fantastic. They didn't frown at our group with 2 young kids, but were super friendly and welcoming.
Food and drinks were top notch. Highly recommended. Big thank you to the lovely girls that looked after us.
P.
The vegetable and bread entrees were very good (coal roasted carrots etc). Couple of the smoked meats (lamb and chicken) were good but the brisket was bone dry albeit tender still. Served the lean cut of the brisket (flat end) but I would incorporate some of the tallow or cooking juices over the slices before serving.

attended Nola's on Thursday 23 Dec. It was a fixed menu due to Covid and staff shortages. We were just glad we were able to sample Nola's food. We had a great table close to the window. Service was excellent and attentitve, particularly Di who engaged with us right from the start. Hopefully there will be many more visits to Nola's in future - thanks for a great night

Had high hopes for NOLA and was really looking forward to going after having it on my list of places to visit for a while. The decor and vibe inside were great, it’s a very funky and nice looking bar / restaurant. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive to us and there’s no complaints at all about the service we received. However, our whole table got the pre select menu as we wanted to try a few different options. The brisket was extremely dry with little flavor, as with the chicken. The pulled pork was very fatty, the lamb was ok. The entrees were ok but a bit bland, and the pavlova desert was sickly sweet. Unfortunately the French fries were the best part of the meal, and at $90 a head that’s pretty disappointing
Also very disappointed to see that they are quite sneaky with the bill and automatically add a 10% gratuity to the final price. IMO this is a very poor excuse to cash grab extra money without people realizing on the final bill, if you need to add this it should added already included in the price of the food, not noted in the small fine print of the menu hoping that people don’t see

We dined last night for my birthday. I nearly cancelled this booking because the reviews seemed less than favourable. That would have been a mistake. We had a great night. The food and drinks were amazing. We started off with a reservation in the bar whilst we waited for our table. The surroundings were great and the drinks were even better. At the table we ordered the pit masters pick and a heap of sides. Every one of the meat selection was delicious. So tender and tasty. Great food, great wine and great staff. We will definitely go again.
R. J.
Great experience at Nola with quality menu and great selection of drinks and whiskey. Whether you're in the bar or in the main restaurant area you won't be disappointed. It's worth checking out, especially if you love meat and / or whiskey.
L. D.
Just had a lovely lunch at Nola. The food was delicious and the staff were lovely. We had a baby in our group and Jodie and Dee were just beautiful with her. Would highly recommend having a meal there.
J. F.
Booked for 2.
Nicer seating location near the water.
For the starter we had scallops.
Combination of sweet and savoury, really yummy and can buy individually.
We also had the corn dog. It is small but tasty. We shared it and it was enough. Bit pricey at $10.
Had the Pit Master Selection for main.
It was the perfect amount for two people.
Mac and Cheese on the side with corn chips as a crust. Scrumptious seasoning on the fries.
St Louis Sour was my cocktail of choice, very easy drinking.
Ambience could be a little more New Orleans, perhaps more dimly lit but otherwise recommend.
C. M.
This place is 100% amazing purely because of Simon “the beard” bar manager. They treated us really great and Ben though we didn’t have a booking. Also the food was very delicious, highly recommend the Mac n cheese and the brisket. Will definitely come back again! Thanks for being fantastic!
Z.
The decor is fantastic and the music aligns well to the New Orleans vibe it aims to generate (half speakeasy, have city chic). The cocktails while waiting were great and the whiskey selection is immense. My partner and i had the share platter, mac n cheese, gumbo, cornbread and shoestring fries. It was all delicious with my highlights being the brisket, Mac n Cheese and lamb (soft and pulled apart). Goes without saying the service was excellent with the wait team keeping the water and wine coming as required. Highly recommend the restaurant for a taste of the Big Easy in the Sydney CBD.
P. F.
Good atmosphere at this place. The bar area is fantastic and is HUGE. If I was rating just the bar area I would give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, but the restaurant has dropped the rating unfortunately. The cocktails were fantastic by the way...
The food was ok. There were a couple of dissapointing aspects. The “slaw” side dish had no flavour. And I mean, no flavour at all.
Also when the water was served at the beggining of the meal, the waitress asked if we wanted still or sparkling. The water was presented in two jugs, similar to what you would normally think how “free” water would be served. When we received the bill we found that the two people that said “sparkling” were charged $5 a glass.
We paid the bill as this is no problem. BUT it is confusing when you serve water like this as the customer should clearly understand when he/she is being charged for something. And because the water was served in identical water carrier jugs, it is not clear at all....
J. M.
Bringing the country smokehouse and the high class restaurant together for a delicious affair. The food and service were lovely and we very much enjoyed our time there!
H. -. S.
This was my first time having New Orleans style food before and I enjoyed experiencing delicious, new flavours. We got the Valentines set menu and I found that all the dishes were well presented and thought out, mixing different flavours and textures. The brisket was spectacular - I loved the sauce (hints of red wine), it was juicy and cut so smoothly. I have a huge sweet tooth and the desserts satisfied it. The chocolate mousse was like a fancy smore. Can't wait to dine here again!

Thoroughly enjoyed the experience here. We ordered the mixed platter to get a taste of everything (4 servings for 5 people is plenty sufficient). Delicious!!! Meats were all scrumptious and expertly cooked. Sides were spot on and as a pickle lover I also thoroughly appreciated the variety of them too.
D. A.
The food and drinks were exceptional, and the service was absolutely lovely. Made our Mother’s Day very special. Thanks so much to the whole NOLA team!
J. W.
Our Thanksgiving meal was absolutely fantastic!
Small note: Our meal was incorrectly charged at a higher price. This happens at every restaurant, once in a while. The manager, Martin, apologised and very kindly processed the money. Life happens. Mistakes are made. They dealt with it in a great manner.
R.
Excellent Mother’s Day experience m. Was impressed by how the dishes catered for non dairy when asked. Brilliant old fashion cocktail menu
H. N.
Reservation for 2 at 8pm was simple to make online.
Arrived half an hour earlier and the friendly staff invited us to the bar until the table was ready.
Excellent bar staff in terms of knowledge, great service and drinks recommendations.
Once our table was ready, we ordered
NOLA’S MEAT PIT-MASTER’S PICK, which consisted of lamb with mint, beef brisket with taco rub, chicken with creole rub and Cajun pulled pork. Served with hot sauce and bbq sauce. We also ordered DRY RUBBED CAROLINA PORK RIBS(half), BBQ BROCCOLINI, and 2 lots of FRIES.
We thought the meats were amazing. Soft and full of flavour. My favourite was the lamb and pork ribs. The fries were thin and crunchy, and the broccolini was packed with flavour as well. The hot sauce could have been spicier, and the bbq sauce was above average in flavour and profile.
All in all, great dining experience. Was just enough food for 2 guys to to enjoy a lovely American style bbq evening. Will definitely go back!

Is any city complete without bringing in some of the charm of New Orleans? NOLA in Barangaroo has it in spades ♠️ There is a HUGE selection of bourbon whiskey to choose from 🥃🥃🥃 steaks, and a view of Darling Harbour with which to enjoy it. The bar staff are fast and professional, and the menu for bar snacks includes oysters and as well as the simple delights of mac and cheese. Definite spot for after works drinks or with a group of friends more so than date night 🌟
M. L.
Love this place! Such great atmosphere, interior decor and fabulous food and service. This space oozes laid-back vibes and chic design, with greenery hanging from the ceiling, filigree detail around the bar and the most magical cocktails be they classics air new school. The food is just perfect, whether you love seafood, meat or gritz.... you will find it and so much more, at NOLA.
C. A.
The atmosphere is nice, and the staff are friendly. A fully stocked bar can cater to the most discerning whiskey buff but the food is overpriced and lacks flavour. The standouts for us were the pork ribs and the corn dogs but the servings are small for the entrees. The ribs were delicious, would definitely have again, but personally prefer more intense flavours.
T. o.
I always go a 5 criteria system. Service, Environment, Food, drinks, Desserts.
Service: Top quality, silent service making sure your drinks are full and table is clean.
Environment: Loud, it is not a recommendation for people who want to have a quiet time together, but if you go as a group it's fun!!
Food: some was great some was average. I personally had the Scotch fillet steak which is not the best steaks in the area. The soft shell crab for entree was amazing.
Drinks: a great assortment of choices!!
Dessert: Very unique and different choices and selections. Do recommend giving it a try.
E. Z.
The food actually tastes good (we ordered the sharing meat platter which is $50/person) however we had to wait 1 hour+ for the food to come and we were starving. Next time maybe serve some sides at least. I don’t recommend any entree dishes as the portion is so tiny.
A. A.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC FOOD
4 of us went for dinner on a Saturday night, had a great table with a water view which was lovely as the sun went down. 2 shared a dozen oysters for entree and then we ordered Brisket x 2, Junee Lamb and Flounder and also had a huge steak to share along with sides of chilli corn (amazing) fried okra (loved it) fries and green salad, yes we were very hungry. We cleaned up all the plates, no leftovers for our doggies and even managed desert, we shared pecan pie and I had the blackberry jelly meringue and ice cream which was an amazing combination of tastes and textures. Loved the decor, great to be able to see the Kitchen, the wine and water service was spot on, glasses were never empty. Yes we will be returning.
O. F.
Everything was as I imagined it would be. Meats were cooked to perfection and all the sides were delicious. Entrees we very yummy. Nice and simple menu with a good selection of wines and beers. Restaurant had the beautiful scent of smoke going through the whole building. Very satisfied with everything and will definitely visit again.

I’ve been to Nola smokehouse and bar several times. I always go for their famous ribs, they are the best that I’ve ever had. I cannot recommend this place more!
T. W.
Nola has a relaxed atmosphere with excellent service and food. Most plates are designed around sharing. I'd recommend booking if you want a table on Friday or Saturday.
Most cocktails are excellent. Pictured below are the blue baoyu and 18th amendment.
For a starter we had the fried chicken and corn bread. This was a highlight of the meal, the chicken was crispy and juicy on the inside. It appeard to largely be dark meat.
As a main we shared a rack of ribs, which were ok. The glaze was much sweeter than expected. Good, but very rich. For sides we had the Brussel sprouts and fried potatoes. Both were amazing.
Dessert was the pecan mousse and apple sundae. The apple sundae was good, but the pecan mousse was fantastic.
R. Y.
I was lucky to have been seated next to the kitchen. Not smoky with the benefits of food viewing.
Very tasty medium steak, accompanied by two potato things with what seemed go be fat in the middle. Between all that and the plate was the super sauce, which was super rich and lickable.
I didn't end up licking up the sauce, but the result was close enough.
V. M.
Mate and I visited Nola recently. Food is delicious and quantities are large. Beautiful view while dining adds to the dining pleasure. The wines were great and staff are friendly too. Rates are par in what you would expect from a upscale establishment.
I would definitely recommend this place, make sure you have reservation the place tends to be full at times.
D. M.
Having worked in Barangaroo for the last year, I am disappointed that I haven’t been to NOLA sooner! What a great bar, restaurant and just awesome place to hang. The venue is reminiscent of some deep-south plantation with verandah style bar and the front windows opening on to darling harbour to catch the fresh sea breeze as the sun sets to the west
H. B.
The atmosphere is great and the food is delicious and highly recommend getting the shared dishes and main each n Desert you'll be full the portions are plentiful. They also have a very well known kiwi wine Ata Rangi its one of my favourites.
The bar area is fantastic and would be great for Evening or Friday chill drinks esp in summer I can see with windows n glass doors pulled back be great.
The only fault we were left waiting for 10-15mins and it wasn't a busy afternoon. I do feel I'm there with colleagues and I'm spending over 300$ I do expect waiters to be around more often. And I won't lie if I feel service is lacking I will use Social Media and I did. But it's rather sad it took me to messaging them to get service.
I do want to acknowledge the young brunette guy who came out to serve us he was friendly and certainly nothing against him in service
But management need to think about service eg. One waiter was clearing table and we got her attention to order she said it wasn't her job she'll get the head waiter, like train the staff even if wasn't her job she could still taken the order or said it another way that doesn't leave bad feelings with customers. At this point I messaged as I indicated as no one came.
I also get they are young but customer service is what people want in restaurant especially when your slapping down large amounts of money be it your own or working lunch.
I will no doubt give it a second try but by now it been open for bit service would be better and seamless.
I have working lunch coming up so will update my review accordingly.
G. N.
We had a last minute booking and the service and food was amazing.
Cured Snapper
Charred broccolini
Pit masters selection
Bohemia
Hurricane
Thank you for a great night.
G. M.
Excellent food in a prime location. Staff attentive and friendly. Easy Ambience too.....and just look st the photos of the huge tomahawk steaks on display✔️. Of course their menu is comprehensive. Top restaurant in my book.
D. Y.
3.5 stars. Good service and nice views. The entrees were tasty but the ribs were drier than I expected. Brisket was better.
A. C.
Nice restaurant with great views and good food. Prices are quite high, but food quality is very good. Service is very friendly, with a very upmarket feel. Serving sizes feel a bit small, but I guess in line with the 'fancy' vibe
C. R. N.
Great service and tasty food. It is on the pricey end for what it is (at the end of the day it is a grill with simple meat dishes) although the quality of the food is good. The atmosphere and decoration are quite nice.
The dessert was really tasty! Tip: it might be a struggle for a vegetarian/vegan as the menu is mostly meat focused.
D. M.
Amazing food. But when the burbon list is this good the food is almost irrelevant. A1 experience all round. A Sydney must.
J. G.
Loved it! A fantastic table, great cocktail recommendations from our waiter and the food was awesome. Best food was the smoked chicken and the sausage. Absolutely get the Smores for dessert.
R. H.
Laid-back atmosphere, good bbq, food if a little over priced but expected in the location. Beer list average & small but bourbon & whiskies are plentiful almost 400 & growing same for wines, some great rare finds in Sydney for USA bourbon & most likely Australia. Funky private room for functions of small groups of 40max otherwise grab a seat or stool and enjoy the view to the water. Bookings required in restaurant most nights especially later in the week. Staff friendly and not pretentious. We will be back to try again.
R. O.
Great banquet menu for group of 8 or plus. Loved the seafood starters (oyster, scallops and king fish) before the mix of lamb, chicken, pork and beef bbq/smoked mains. One of the dissert ice cream even had a smoky favour to it! There was great selection of imported wine and beef options with a wonderful French Rose' there!
J. T.
Had lunch at NOLA two weeks ago with some work colleagues.
The venue is brilliant and the atmosphere was fun and friendly. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
I had to take points off for the food. For the price you pay; the food was nothing special. We ordered the BBQ platter with the jambalaya.
The rice dish bordered on bland and lacked spice. In this day and age, there is no excuse for bland food regardless of who you are catering for.
The BBQ was good. Meats were cooked well. Flavours were still a little muted but it can be hard with smoked meat. Could have been improved with a more generous serving of sauce.
E. L.
I came here to celebrate my bday with my mates and I gotta say it has an amazing vibe and the food was delish! They do have a great selection of whisky as well!
P. H.
A great place for New Orleans smokey goodness. Must try their smoked beef brisket!
Not sure what to get? Go for the tasting platter to try all their best bits with two sides.
Y.
Good vibe. Wonderful location. Friendly and helpful staff. The scallops were fresh and the steak was well cooked. The fish was average.
N. P.
Has a great range of cocktails- we ate quite a range of dishes on the night: Brisket, Lamb and Beef with sides of mash potatoes- macaroni cheese, slaw, roast carrots evey dish was tasty. The Smores dessert was interesting.
A. B.
Food was very good, what there was of it. The meat tray below cost AUD160.
Wine selection was first rate though and the service was excellent.
The desserts were a high point of the evening.
M. T.
Loved Nola Smokehouse! I visited last week with a girlfriend and we had such a wonderful evening. Our servers were so lovely, always keeping our water glasses full and checking if we needed anything. Food came out quickly, we ordered 2 entrees (the snapper ceviche was the standout), 2 mains of BBQ meats and a side of fire blackened carrots to share and we were happy with all 5 dishes. The restaurant has a New Orleans' theme which does definitely shine though, but also with a few nuisances. It's also worth visiting the bar onsite, great cocktails and a really pleasant atmosphere.
s. m.
Brisket was a bit dry but the ambience and the overall food was really nice and the staff was amazing!
M. Z.
Awesome place for lunch, we shared the mixed plates and the chicken was really good smoked! Great oysters too. The staff were lovely and helped with the TV to watch Super Bowl on.
P. K.
BBQ are fantastic. And they should be for what they charge!
Service friendly. And great views.
Good place if you want to splurge a little, and am not too hungry.
L. L.
The service was fantastic, the staff are extremely friendly, informative and on point with refilling water and making sure our beverages were topped off.
The food is mediocre, I think because I've been too spoilt with BBQ from the US so it's the real deal for a fraction of the price. So I think it's unfair to compare since I know there's better quality with cornbread, the meat and simple coleslaw. Overall the food here was underwhelming, the presentation, the taste and quality was okay - it doesn't justify the prices (but hey! It's Sydney!). We had the organic chicken and the lamb (pictured) as you can see it's serving size is not bad, so sides is a must!
The atmosphere and decor was well put together, the view from the windows overlooks Barangaroo and the ferries pathway. So it was a lovely environment for a catch up with my friend.
P. H.
It's definitely ok. But half the prawns were undercooked, and similar to the bugs.
Meat platter was a bit worse. Coleslaw was bland with minimal saucing, brisket was nowhere near done enough.
Standout was the sausage! Sausage saved the nearer 2 star rating and was 5 stars within itself.
M. J.
Really great experience. Entering via a lift, the bar looks excellent, really well designed. Food and drinks were delicious, albeit the flavours are so distinct, is probably not visit too regularly
A. F.
Exceptional service
We did the set menu and every items were outstanding
Wine selection and cocktail selection are great
Must visit in barangaroo
M. K.
Loved it and i will go back. I went their with my client for a light meal and drinks. The veiw was beautiful, staff were friendly, service was quick and their food was delicious.
Update: went there again for a celebration. Tried their seafood platter and some other stuff by their recommendation. To die for.
I went there again for their famous ribs. Huge serve and delicious.
A. C.
Venue: nestled in the heart of Barangaroo, the layout provided splendid views of the harbour foreshore. Tastefully designed decor with cosy seating arrangements, but not cramped.
Food: the cornbread, flatbread and vegetarian options was the highlight of the meal, ironically. As someone who loves meat off the bone, the carolina ribs did not have my lips smacking (glaze & pretzel = moreish snack), nor did the blackened chicken (dry, bland, petite portion). Brisket was by far the better choice. It seems the flavour is heavily reliant on dipping it in the smorgasbord of sauces (some at extra $$)
Service: served by a easy-going, patient, friendly wait staff.
S. H.
Delicious bbq meats and sides! Must try the mac and cheese! The pork ribs were deliciously juicy and fall of the bone!
M. M.
Have been here a few times for the bar
Chips and drinks are awesome
The food is ok I ordered the rangers Valley rib when it was ok, no sauce for the steak and also was a Tad bit over cooked
Jodie and Ben provide excellent service. Just the food needs improvements
A. S.
A little over priced, slightly weak flavours but generally pretty nice food, great service and excellent atmosphere.
We had the mixed plate of smoked meats - brisket, blackened chicken, sausage, lamb shoulder and pulled pork - and a couple of sides - smoked olives, Brussel sprouts and burned cauliflower. The flavours were a bit flat but were punked up with the two nice sauces. I like my brisket a bit more tender and my sausages more fatty and less spicy.
The whiskey list was extensive and utterly overwhelming but that's not a complaint. We had a really nice cheese platter for dessert and we went home full.
It wasn't the best que I've had in Australia but it was pretty good and the excellent service easily made up for the minor food imperfections. I'd definitely repeat.
L. T.
Lovely decor and ambience, friendly staff and great food. Highly recommend the jambalaya and/or shared plates for big groups and for dessert, get the coffee, S'mores and/or banoffee. We enjoyed our night there very much.
W. S.
I was pleased to select NOLA Smokehouse & Bar as the venue for my business network dinner. It was our first dinner together so I wanted it to impress. Michael and the team looked after us very well in their Private Dining Room so they didn't disappoint. Great food and service with many positive comments from my guests.
PS You must try the Campfire caramel ice cream!
M. B.
Great selection of drinks, however not a great selection of bar food to choose from.
C. R.
Fantastic food and service! We had the brisket and angus burger which had some amazing meat and tastes. Really my only issue was that it was just too by to fit your booth around!
Highly recommend this place.
R. P.
It was the first time I've been to NOLA today and I was amazed by the experience. Service was fantastic, food and wine were a perfect match. I'm looking forward to come back and try their other mains.
B. R.
Excellent service and great food. What more could you ask for?
I booked a party for 30, and they were able to make accommodations to seat us on short notice. The booking process was very organized and everything was thought out. I will definitely be back with any group's I host.
L. C.
Best food in Barangaroo. Nice cocktails and view...friendly staff. The entire package.
C. W.
Had a really nice dinner at NOLA, food was very nice and atmosphere great. Good for both dinner with friends or partner.
G. O.
Great service great food and in a perfect location. The team made a lovely mocktail for my wife which was not on their beverage list so was much appreciated. Highly recommended.
C. N. D.
We tried NOLA for the first time last evening, parking was a difficult becasue this Barangaroo on a Saturday night, but the restaurant was excellent. Even though the fire alarm went off in the middle of our dinner, it didn't spoil our dinner. The service was exellent with friendly and knowledgable staff, the food quality and portions were spot on. and they have a great variety of wine and cocktails I'm a very fussy eater but I really enjoyed the food.
The menu is very well priced for food of this quality and the decor is great, a mix of casual and formal, very comfortable.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
E. H.
We recently had a dinner for my son's 21st at Nola Smokehouse and I couldn't have been happier with the venue selection. The food and service was absolutely fantastic and the atmosphere, brilliant. Mikee went out of his way to ensure we had a great night and I couldn't be more appreciative! Would highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion.
A. G. U.
Amazing food and atmosphere - we had a fantastic afternoon feed, then moved into the whiskey bar. Great staff and service too.
M. D.
What can I say.... ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING!
We went to NOLA for Mother's Day lunch. Every dish on the menu was exquisite - even my kids were raving about it!
The venue doesn't have views, or the outdoor seating "vibe" we've come to expect around Barangaroo, but it's a top-class space nonetheless.
It doesn't matter though as once the food comes out you'll be immersed in flavors and textures beautifully presented and served by polite and attentive staff.
Do yourself a favor and make a booking today.

What a fantastic experience. I forgot the reservation but a phone call to Jodie and she just made it happen.
The service was exceptional. The food to die for. Melt in your mouth and flavour flavour flavour.
The wine to match was excellent and our glasses were kept full.
The desert just topped off the night.
Thanks Jodie and crew. An excellent birthday dinner for my son.

The Good;
Reservation was at 5.45 for 2, was 5 mins late
Easy to find , Cosy little place
Seated us straight away
Informed us that we have until 8pm - which i admit was plenty of time to eat we left at 7.45 didn't feel rushed at all was very comfortable.
Service was great - but please stop reaching over the food to pour us water that was annoying so i asked them to leave the bottle.
Dress was smart casual not too formal
Atmosphere was good it did get a little loud from the larger tables
entrees were flat bread with hummus was fantastic!
The bottle of wine that they had suggested was perfect.
The mains
Pulled pork was great
The Bad
Ribs - disappointed in taste and not enough meat -lucky i had the hot sauce to dip the ribs in.
Slaw - disappointing had no taste and the portion size was tiny.
All in all it was OK, Im on the fence with this restaurant if i would go back.
Would i recommend it - maybe but i would say to stay away from the ribs and slaw.
I. G.
Great ambience and great food. Service was a bit slow.
K. L.
Went in excited to try this place but unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. We felt very rushed right from the start, which could be forgiven since it was Saturday night, however the impersonal/uninviting service and lack of atmosphere can't be forgiven. Also not ideal having a table right next to the kitchen so one person has the side of their head inches from the hot and noisey service window.
Food was ok but doesn't compare to genuine New Orleans cuisine. The chips were delicious and the Gumbo tasty but could have done with more flavour. The brisket was fatty and the coleslaw was completely bland. Cocktails had great flavour but very heavy on ice so a bit pricey considering the amount.
Location and appearance was good but unfortunately won't be back or recommending.
M. “. K.
Very hip, 'New Orleans-esque' bar & restaurant that fits in really well in the upmarket Barangaroo precinct. Had a hot toddy cocktail and a cheese platter. Cheese selection was slightly disappointing, as they didn't offer any washed rind cheese, but the top quality service offered by staff definitely made up for it. Plus the live jazz band was brilliant, worth the trip to Barangaroo just for this.

Excellent and friendly bar and waiting staff food was delicious and view was awsome great place to celebrate a birthday
B. B.
After covid it has been hard to find a resturant with good service, vibe and food.
Nola had all of that, thank you Michelle for being so attentive and providing amazing service. Cant wait to see you again!
T. B.
Customer service is pretty whatever some waitstaff are great and some couldn't care less. Food is okay, I definitely thought for a smokehouse it would be a bit more full of smoke flavour and have more dimension to the dish. Not really the case. Only tried the meat so can't say if it would be the same experience with the seafood. Nice venue though. Something to keep in mind is they do charge you for the water each time they refill your glass.
D. L.
Great environment, friendly staff with the bugs being our favourite dish!
M. C.
Excellent range of whiskeys. Try some of the flights if you don't know what to get. Can't go wrong
K. S.
Myself and A friend had lunch at the bar. The bar menu was great as was the cocktails. I will be back for their full menu.
D. M.
Customer Service from the front reception to the table service to the kitchen was exceptional! Food was fast and tasy . We had the the shell fish platter and meat platter plus sides . Broccolini was sensational a must have side dish . Great selection of cocktails . Really enjoyed the evening it's right next to the Crown so after we walked across for a sticky beak .
A. M.
Good vibe, delicious food, reasonably priced. The menu was a bit difficult to read but the staff were helpful.
A. N.
It is not easy to find a US style BBQ restaurants in Sydney. We have just been back to Sydney after a few years in the US, and NOLA is among the best BBQ restaurants here we definitely would love to go again.
Food was delicious! Drink menu has a good selection of bourbon whiskeys. For the main, we had pork ribs and briskets. They were cooked beautifully even though we think it would be even better if they were a bit more smoky.
Atmosphere was great and staff were very friendly.
T. “. H.
My drink after attending this venue. The loaded fries are a must have. Very fancy and I think it's an amazing place to chill with friends or colleagues
B. l.
Good but it ain't New Orleans. Probably up there with the best or better ones in Sydney though
A. J.
Great atmosphere and excellent southern food. Not cheap, but the quality is there
S. V.
I have been to NOLA a few times now and I still love everything about this restaurant and bar - the food, the cocktails and the service are amazing! Recently I organised a surprise birthday event in the bar area and everything was made easy, went like a dream and the whole group raved about Nola. Highly recommend for any type of occasion whether its big or just a nice dinner for 2.
A. C.
Lovely location and very professional staff. My partner and I had the pit masters pick with the cab merlot. Had four different meats and were all delicious. However, the chicken wing piece we had was a little undercooked and red. Overall, we still had a pleasant experience.

Off to a rough start on entry with the hostess behind the desk on the phone and being greeted by a burly and unfriendly security guard (Not sure why they require a security guard at a restaurant at 7:30). No "good evening madam how are you". Instead he looked me up and down and asked if I had a booking, when I replied yes he said "just wait". Pretty unwelcoming experience for the customer. The meal itself was delicious and service was great. When I pointed out the to waiter that I thought the pulled pork was dry he was so apologetic and gave us 2 complimentary desserts. They were wonderful! He turned what could have been a bad experience into a great one! Feedback to provide customer service training for the security staff but other than that the food was beautiful and wait staff outstanding
R. C.
So glad to find this excellent example of American BBQ in Sydney. The meat and the sides were all amazing but the standard outs were the lamb and pulled pork. Great service and very helpful around dietary requirements. Looking forward to my next meal here.
S. B.
My favourite bar in Sydney! Delicious cocktails and fantastic service. Special mention goes out to the wonderful Simon the bearded Bartender for his charming and friendly service which topped off a very special night for me and my new fiance :)
T. R. (.
Delicious food. Very friendly staff. Serving sizes are a little small for the money you pay
C. B.
After a particularly horrible week I booked this dinner for my husbands birthday in the hope that it would lift our spirits. Nola delivered and turned out to be just what we needed! We were over an hour late to our booking due to car trouble (when it rains it pours!) and the staff were super accommodating and kind, pushing the booking back until we were able to make it. The service was impeccable from the moment we walked in, special shout out to our waitress who was super lovely and friendly (service with a smile goes a long way in this city!) The food was prompt and delicious, best BBQ spread we have had in ages, and we eat a lot of BBQ. The atmosphere and decor also score top marks. We are looking forward to returning and bringing our family and friends along.
P.
Great venue, service & menu on Barangaroo Point. Vegetarians need not apply.
We had a large group which required set menu. Pleasingly there was plenty of quality food starters, mains & sides!
R. N.
We had set menu. Enough food for everyone and great quality.
Service was good too.
B. Y.
Fabulous food, venue and customer service!! I decided to take my husband here for his birthday given his love of smoked meats. Due to work commitments he wasn't able to make the lunch reservation time so I contacted Nola asking if they could fit us in earlier. I wasn't putting my hopes up but to my surprise, I got a reply from Rob saying they were able to fit us in. I also requested a candle for the birthday husband, which Rob was able to arrange. Although Rob was in head office the restaurant team executed everything perfectly. The service was great, food and wine delicious. Unfortunately we couldn't try everything on the menu, but we will definitely be back! Thank you again Rob and the Nola team for your hospitality and fantastic overall dining experience. It's rare these days so I really appreciate it!!
R. B.
Really enjoyed the food and ambience. Waiters were excellent and attentive but not in your face. Brussel sprouts were amazing as were oysters and brisket. Incredible selection of whisky. Would be nice to have a broader scotch selection and perhaps a bit more information about each one. Unfortunately had a long wait for a table but it was worth it.
J. J.
Was really disappointed in the food. The meat was very fatty and not particularly tasty. The servings were very stingy. We were given what can only be described as half a teaspoon of bbq sauce. The restaurant has a great view but I feel the price mark did not match the quality of food
A. F.
Food and cocktails were amazing. Highly recommend the pulled pork shoulder and brisket. Although the main reason for the five stars was the service. It was quick and efficient but still felt personal, this can be mainly attributed to our waiter Michael, who made us feel welcome, important and made sure we were always taken care of. We look forward to returning to try more of the menu and hopefully have Michael serve us again!
C. N.
Great food, busy atmosphere. Went for lunch for a birthday and the customer service was just lovely. The food was exquisite and can’t wait to keep going back and trying the rest of the menu! I had oysters with champagne to start, then the blackened chicken with lentils and Brussels sprouts. Amazing!
S. G.
Come to this place hungry. We tried a bit of everything. Appetizers and entrees are really refined and full of flavour. We had the mixed platter to try all meat dishes. This is the real deal. Brisket a bit dry but all the rest top notch. Good selection of wine. I'll be back
K. D. L.
This place is perfect if you want a good feed with matching drinks.
The interior is upscale, cosy and comfortable.
I recommend lunch during the weekdays if you want to avoid the crowds.
Otherwise expect your normal peaks during Friday dinner, etc.
The views of the harbour are great here as well and is a plus if that is your thing.
The bar area has your standard tall standing tables, but there are also booths available (you'll have to be quick to grab them).
If you are a fan of meats, then you won't go wrong with this place
S. C.
Good food and great atmosphere. I went for a work function and there was a number of us, wasn't too pleased about being squashed all together so not 100% happy with how the accommodated us. The food was pre-set and was very good. Excellent flavours and servings were plentiful. Staff were pleasant enough. Not sure of the value for money as it was a.work function however I would go again with a smaller group/as a couple to make a better judged assessment.
A. H.
Amazing food, all corners of the menu (even the sides). We ordered the brisket, pulled pork, jambalaya, fries and Brussel sprouts. The stand outs were definitely the jambalaya, brisket and fries!! The chicken with the jambalaya was out of this world. We had a young girl and gentlemen attend our table on Sunday lunchtime and they were awesome. Great service, cool venue!
M. L.
It was great delicious food and good service
J. T.
Love this place, great food and ambience, highly recommend the smoked chicken 😋

Great night out with friends at Nola. Service was very good, for a party of six only had to check on a missing drink but all else was spot on. Cocktails were very good. The food was amazing. We had the Pit Master pick and got to taste most the meats. All delicious and perfectly cooked. The entre oysters were nice but was expecting bigger but they made up with the scallops - amazing. Desserts were also very good. Highlight was the cheese cake with banana and caramel. Will go again.
D. L.
Was there for a weekend lunch in early November and we felt the wait staff were extremely unattentive, from start to drinks to trying to pay our bill.
One of our party order a gumbo that tasted like burnt crab shells with rice puffs on it. It was horrible. Ordering off the a la cart menus left the entire family feeling like they got parts of a meal. Would be better to do the banquets there I felt.
However the bar area looked magnificent! Would love to come back for a drink, not dinner though.
L.
Got off to a little bit of a bad start as the menu changed literally the day of our booking. We were also seated at one of the smaller 4 seater tables (which I think are more appropriate for 2 people considering the structure of the menu) with a big support beam right next to the table making it difficult for 2 of the 4 people to eat and converse comfortably. I asked to move and the waitress accommodated us with a larger table thankfully as there would have been no way meals and sides would have fit on the original table. Aside from these minor complaints the meals were very tasty and the service was fine. Special mention to the steak which was cooked beautifully. The meals are not overly big and on the more expensive side so keep that in mind. It is Barangaroo after all. I would probably return if in the area.
C. W.
Dinner was a set menu and it was delicious, the meat selection was full of flavour and the service was excellent.. do it!
S. M.
We visited Nola when it first opened. It was good but you can tell they needed a little more time to refine their service and menu. We went a second time just the other night - and wow! What an experience. Everybody on our table loved it. The food - absolutely fantastic flavours and precise timing between dishes. So, whatever they've changed in the kitchen is working. The service - first rate. Our server (Becca) was prompt, courteous and even fun to talk to. Definitely we're going back - and taking friends.

I recently planned a birthday event at NOLA Smokehouse and Bar and I can’t say enough great things. The booking manager Rob made the whole experience easy and enjoyable! We booked part of the French Quarter area for the evening. Great space, separated from the main dining area, it was nice because it wasn’t too loud and we were still able to enjoy the live music. We were taken care of by our own waitress, Raven, who was spectacular! Raven was super helpful and friendly throughout the whole evening. Due to our group size we were limited to the bar menu (other options were available, this is just the one I picked). The nibbles off the bar menu suited everyone’s needs and were delicious! Overall the experience was great and can’t wait to return for another event or just a bite to eat.
T. F.
Have been to several restaurants in the Barangaroo precinct and NOLA is one of the best. Food is great, wine and cocktail menu are equally as good.
Cannot fault the food, service or atmosphere definitely worth a visit.
A. M.
A very upmarket restaurant with good food. The noise level isn't the quietest and some of the dishes are rather expensive. However, other dishes are good value and all taste good.
The service staff are very attentive and always ensure that your water glass is full.
A. H.
Great food and great vibe. Awesome place for drinks and share plates. You will not leave hungry and the menu seemed to cater to all of our party’s varying food likes/dislikes. Great location, easy to find and very attentive staff - absolutely going back!
R. A.
Nice view, good food, a bit pricey but you expect that for where it is and how it is, friendly and helpful staff, great selection of whiskey
G. S.
The pulled pork is amazing. The service is friendly, the atmosphere feels like you’re at a chic bar with an amazing assortment of smoked meats. Highly recommend.
D. C.
We came here for a quick bite and drink at the bar. Be prepared to wear loose pants. The food is quite heavy but delicious. The only thing was i didn't think the corn bread tasted anything like corn bread and maybe simplify some of the meals. I'm American so my expectations might be higher for American comfort foods. The beautiful decor and ambiance made us want stay and lounge all day. Overall good experience.
P. Y.
Grateful they could fit me and a mate in during lunch. Food was on point. I had the Jambalaya. It was flavorful and aromatic. The chicken was also tasty and moist. We had the double baked potatoes which is a definitely must have. The only draw back was the time for the mains to come out after our entree. Was the only drawback.
C. C.
Great food and lovely view. Good sized portions and lots of tasty meat so I recommend coming with a group of friends. Nice cocktails. Appreciate the staff checking in with the kitchen on for my dietary requirements.
A.
Amazing food and fantastic service, a good restaurant for a nice dinner or lunch!
S. G.
Great lil restaurant, attentive staff and great atmosphere. But it felt like they'd held back on the full flavours of NOLA. It felt like a watered down version of the food I'd eaten while actually in NOLA. I left a bit disappointed in the flavours however big ticks for everything else, but hey, if you've never had creole food, this is a great introduction!
D. R.
Excellent menu and service, child friendly. Nice views, clean and quick. Gluten and dairy free options available. Do yourself a favour and order the brisket. Parking is a bomb so wall or public transport.
C. “. L.
Such a pleasure to dine here! To see the wait staff alumni of Sydney was an comforting factor. If Matt, Micheal or Jules are serving you, there won’t be a problem and it will be effortlessly wonderful.
The food is great and plentiful. The cocktails glorious.
We will return
M. T.
I've eaten here a couple of times with colleagues. It's nice and the service is great but the food is nothing that special. It's based on US Smokehouse food and that's usually very casual and not upmarket cuisine. Of it was in a more low key selling, it would do better.
J. O.
I thought I've had great ribs in Sydney but my belief was challenged at Nola. The Hanebero and pretzel glaze on their ribs was to die for. Mac & cheese was interesting in a delicious way and the cocktails were so good they're almost addictive. Such a fantastic experience and one we truly enjoyed.
M. K.
Absolutely delicious meats and sides - all have nice smokey flavour and come in generous portions. Staff are quite friendly too. The venue is usually super busy and I suggest you make a booking if you want to get a good spot (or any spot at all)!
E. M.
We had the seafood platter and it was delicious. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and decent views to the water. Didn't get a chance to try the cocktails, but the wine selection was good.
B. F.
Great venue for a group. The tasting menu allowed us to try most of the delicious menu options including smoked green tomatoes, blackened tuna, lamb, the brisket was excellent, tomahawk steak was huge and cooked perfectly.
C. L.
Only been to the bar portion of this place. Cocktails are interesting and decently priced. The fries that come with their bar meals are delishhh, however, disappointed that they dont sell the fries itself.
Went to the restaurant portion a bit later and the food is amazing! We got barbeque set to share and I think it's definitely one of the best american barbeque styled briskets I've had in Sydney! Would definitely recommend.
n. N.
Its an awesome place for dinner, cocktails and music. Its such a wonderful location, the nature lighting heaps with to the feel an atmosphere during the late afternoon/early evening. The staff are knowledgeable through out the whole menu and with the drinks. The set menu is not over priced. It is a place where I would go back again and try something different
J.
S'mores will have you singing for some more :) The flavours are unlike anything you've ever tasted. Unusual at first but bursting with flavour and texture.
The Fillet Steak Au Poivre with bone marrow hash is delicious and decadent both melt in your mouth... hands down the tastiest steak I've ever had. The Organic Chicken is tender and juicy with their lovely signature smokehouse touch of flavouring. The mixed leaf salad and mac n cheese complimented the mains perfectly.
Service was impeccable, attentive and thoughtful.
Not to mention my Rue Royal cocktail perfectly balanced in bitterness and sweetness.
Definitely will be back and would recommend NOLA to anyone searching for a relaxed, yet sophisticated, delectable dining experience.
J. B.
Lovely food & good view ❤️❤️❤️
H. S.
Had a lovely dinner. Can't remember what we ended up ordering but we were very glad to have followed the recommendations that were given to us. Sommelier did a great job! Would go again. However there's much to explore.
S. P.
Food was great. I didn't have high hopes after seeing mixed reviews but so glad I went and keen to go back. Smoked meats were great, very tender and sides all yummy.
T. G.
Excellent service. Very good food. Our table was at kitchen galley and noisy. If you want to talk ask for a quiet table. $240 for 2 including bottle of second cheapest wine in list ( an excellent Moppa GSM) delightful and efficient waitress.
J. B.
Very good food and service. Unreal liquor collection
R. L.
Wonderful service and incredible food! Drinks are awesome and the bar staff are lovely with great personalities. Beautiful ambience, reasonably priced for the ambience and quality of the food and drinks and service. I would definitely come back here.
O. G.
Had a nice dinner here. We shared plates: brisket, pork belly and sausages. All very good. The place had live music and a great view of the harbour. The place is located near Barangaroo area,
C. S.
Drinks are good and the venue is nice. They handled our bill poorly. We had 12ppl and 8ppl left early and had to sort out their bills individually. The waiter did not charge them the 10% surcharge but instead saved all the surcharge for the group to the last person who paid. So the last 2 of us had to pick a 79 dollars surcharge bill!!
N. H.
Beautiful atmosphere, service and the food is incredible. Something you must experience if you come to Sydney
s. s.
Great atmosphere and service, food itself was delicious however the portion sizes compared to what it used to be and the price that was charged seemed very stingy. That was a bit disappointing - otherwise great restaurant.
A. K.
One if my favorite places to dine. Truly get a New Orleans BBQ vibe here. The share platter is a great choice to try a few of the meats and the mac and cheese side is delishiously naughty. Cocktails here are also tasty and refreshing. Can get a little hot on a steamy day but overall a great experience.
J. L.
Really enjoyed the food but the experience of the whiskey bar really topped it off. I'm normally a scotch drinker exclusively but the two bartenders were extremely helpful finding something I'd like beyond the standard JB and JDs.
N. L.
Really nice meats and friendly staff.
V. P.
Their multicultural team was great. Dishes were averag, certainly NOT smoking hot - smoked or not. While blood around chicken bones is NOT always an indicative of undercooked smoked poultry, bloody looks (not pinky) around drumstick area was a turn off for me, subjectively speaking. Perhaps the experience would have been different if my partner did not have food intolerance to red meat & steak was ordered? I don’t know. However, other dishes were average too. Heavy dose of supermarket honey (not camerised as described on menu) on Chèvre chaud , soft shell crab tasted as if it was heavily fried rather than smoked. While I did not expect it to be as lovely as my favourite soft shell crab tempura as it’s a different dish, I was hoping some smoke taste/smell as described on menu which none was tasted . The bright side: my partner did enjoy the Cauliflower dish & generous portion in most dishes.
Overall, I expected more as they claimed themselves to be 1 of “finer dining venues in Barangaroo” that charge 10% surcharge on Sundays. As a fairly regular diner at Barangaroo area (once per week), at either casual restos or a more expensive ones, NOLA is lower on my recommendation list to my friends on a Sunday as our friends prefer to tip at their discretion.

Last night, after weeks in isolation, we had the pleasure of dining at NOLA, a special thank you to Simon & Heather that made our night so wonderful and of course the amazing food, which was second to none. Can't wait to come back again.
R.
Very nice food but the reason I didn’t give a 5 star review is because we had mains without a single veggie or any greens. We ordered organic chicken, Oynx beef Brisket, 2 of junee lamb which we enjoyed but would have been the best experience if we had a little bit of either asparagus or broccolini or something on the plate other than the slab of meat. We did order a side of chips and once we received our plates we had to add some slaw!! Our kids love it obviously. This business has major potential and Highly recommend broadening your menu with some “Sunday specials” or kids menus.
A. O.
The staff are friendly and helpful. I had the brisket and it was quite tasty, but I do think that the dishes are a bit overpriced for what you are getting. Note they do not have beer on tap (only bottled beer)

Divine Dining ....
If you are a lover of smoked meats with all the Southern trimmings. NOLA is the place for you. Cocktails are amazing and the food. Just thinking about it I am drooling. If you are gluten free there are options and the NOLA team are so nice about making adjustments to their menu for you. Such a nice dining experience.
Z. B.
We had our Work Xmas Lunch at NOLA Smokehouse and Bar for 27 people and everyone loved the food and were really impressed with the service. The NOLA team made our lunch a really enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!!
D. F.
Return visitor from Jan 2019.......Great service, kept my glass topped up......but not too much. The Cured Kingfish is a winner accompanied with the Pitt Masters Pick. Again a recommended vist is a must in the Barangaroo precinct.
R. C.
Food is good. Service is good. Experience suffers for the pretty ruthless time limits allowed for a booking for a small number of guests and while you're welcome to relocate to the nice bar when it's time to vacate your table the whole experience is compromised.
M. P.
Superb food. Nice decor and relaxing atmosphere, brilliantly located in Barangaroo. We had delicious scallops, beef tartare and amazing steak for our main dish to share. Service was second to none.
E. W.
Great food, amazing selection of drinks, fantastic atmosphere.
Most places like this have the music up way too loud but here it was at a respectable level. We could actually hear each other talk.
Would happily go again.
K. P.
Thank you so much NOLA Smokehouse for a great meal and dining experience, the quality of food and service went a long way toward making a great night out for our team dinner. We'll definitely be recommending you, especially the espresso martini's!
J. T.
Great food, great atmosphere and awesome cocktails. Had “the movie time” butter popcorn and maize reduction bourbon which was awesome and for food the onyx brisket was melt in your mouth, also fried Brussel sprouts are a must!
S. T.
I love this place! The atmosphere is amazing and the food to die for. I highly recommend the ribs, they are the best I’ve ever had.
R. A.
Great cocktails, extensive wine list and friendly staff. Chef happily shared some tricks. The meats are crazy good, but the chicken on smoked yogurt is to die for.
M. M.
Not bad, food was tasty and the drinks weren't bad.
R.
Lovely service. Bottomless still and sparkling was a nice touch. The BBQ platter was superb, especially the beef.
S. M.
Some nice smokey flavours, and a great location. But nothing wowed me, and there's some stiff competition in Barangaroo. Worth trying once - and it's a beautiful fitout, great for a birthday or something - but I don't feel the need to go again.
N. P.
Came in to have dinner but after the rude encounter with the hostess about table service we decided to have drinks only. On top of it all we sat in a brightly dimmed room for a while felt like a cafeteria.
Beautiful space and view, but management needs to be more on top it.
J. C.
Well done theme bar but still feels very sterile. Went in there on a Saturday night. I would say the Baxter inn or lobo plantation feel more like a southern bar just because the area is a bit more rundown. There's no roughness to the place. It's a nice cocktail bar. Older crowd, say late 30's to 50's.
A. B.
Great location but as a Texan, I have high expectations which this place failed to meet miserably. Their brisket was dry and chewy. If you are after good BBQ, I would skip this place and head over to Bovine & Swine Barbecue in Newtown. De li cious! No comparison.
F. K.
Don't think twice about this place, just go and enjoy an amazing time with mouthwatering food, great drinks and super friendly staff. I organized a corporate event at NOLA and the event was 5 stars thanks to NOLA's team. We even had one of our clients book a birthday party at NOLA.
Thank you guys for this experience and making Melbourne cup really special!
C. C.
Just got home from dining here and loved it! My steak had to be one of the best I've had in sydney which is a big call, but more so the bone marrow hash was fantastic. This is going to be a new after work local for sure.
s. h.
Ribs were not 'fall off the bone'. Brisket and mac and cheese were stand outs. Service was great. Portions were on the small side apart from the ribs that no one wanted to finish.
G. P.
Beautiful ambience with very detailed services provided by the staff. Menus were explained when asked and good recommendation of dishes. Prices were as expected of the area. Food excellent We were table of 7. Enjoyed it.
B. M.
Delicious! Although it looks like a meat only place, the vegetarian options are excellent too. Great wine list, lovely water views and great service. Excellent place for lunch.
A.
Amazing service - 5 star. Smokehouse food tasty, however side dishes pricey and uneventful. We were dispointed to miss out on the ribs for an 8pm order. Music was great but a little too loud.
B. S.
The happy hour here is great but the brisket burger needs more time in the smoker. Had to tear it apart to get through it. Cocktails and chips are great though.
S. S.
New food venue to the Sydney scene. Such tasty food. Massive bourbon and whiskey range. Only negative was we felt rushed to eat our food so the next sitting could come in. All in all it was pretty good.
A. S.
Had a dinner here with a friend, and we were super impressed with the food, service and even wine suggestions. Very reasonably priced, and would most certainly be back to try other items on the menu.
S. M.
Fantastic food and great wine. Spent a week in New Orleans and I think this was better. Staff was fantastic as well and super helpful. Might be my new favorite spot in Sydney.
T. M.
Great food, great vibe, super friendly and attentive service! (Always good when you don't have to ask for a water top up)
J. M.
Outstanding service and magnificent food. The oysters, we're outstanding and the BBQ plater with chimichuri sauce , amazing and topped it off with cookies and cream dessert, see photos.... Mmmmmmm
And top it all off the service from Jules just made the whole experience unforgettable!
Thank you!
J. S.
Food was delish! Cocktails were amazing! Atmosphere was great and staff were very friendly, would love to go again
A. K.
Was okay, lovely decor and vibe, food just wasn’t amazing. Feel as though they could work on presentation and making the meals more valuable. Staff just felt as they were doing their job, not much effort in serving customers.
A. V.
1 hat food quality and great wine list. Were with friends so didn't really notice the service but can understand that it wasn't 1 hat quality. But hey it's all about the food and they win big time on that front.
M. A.
Great food and very professional service. Menu is true to the theme and executed well. Couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. Well worth a second visit.
Y. M. S.
No drinks on tap. Staff was very dry, borderline rude. Didn't feel welcome. The appetizers were not that great, but the mac n cheese balls were nice. View is pretty.
N. S.
Great restaurant in the highly competitive strip of restaurants and bars. Tough to get a reservation at late notice (yeah I know, my fault) had the tar tar entree and the brisket mains, it was delicious. Highly recommended.

I really enjoy going to NOLA in Barangaroo because it reminds me so much of how I love it's namesake NOLA the place (New Orleans)... Charming baroque decor takes me back to the French Quarter without leaving the breathtaking views of Sydney. I'm tickled pink by the seamless fusion of delicious Creole cuisine with modern Australian flair. Mac n cheese with cola braised short rib, USA pork ribs and Andouille sausage with sweet and tangy BBQ sauce (Yum!). Warm beignets for dessert comes fairly close to the powdered sugar covered choux pastry treats that propelled Cafe du Monde's worldwide reputation. Cocktails galore with a nice assortment of whiskeys and cognac behind the bar. I recommend treating yourself to some of NOLA's fine offerings, whether for lunch, dinner or just a few drinks after a hard day's work, you'll be glad you stopped by the French Quarter...

Amazing food! Went twice in one week. The brisket and Mac n cheese are just divine.
T. D.
Absolutely loved this place. Simon, Scott and Jacob are so lovely and are experienced at what they do. Would 10/10 recommend and they are hotties. Come to this place it is a so much fun.

Had dinner with a big group on a Saturday night. Fabulous food, great service and amazing company!
Staff were friendly and helpful, food was share plates and delicious!
J. L.
Great ambience. Great service. Food was decent, but held it back from a 5 star review. (Pulled pork was slightly too sweet / food was luke warm / chicken was great).
W. D.
Just spent a great evening in NOLA, some really nice bourbon, fantastic food and fabulous staff.
Thank you NOLA, I'll be back
J. H.
Food was good but pricey.
M. J.
The smell of the smokehouse catches you as soon as you step out of the lift and walk into NOLA. We only stayed for drinks this time, but will be back to eat!
Huge selection of bourbon and whiskeys, and the bar staff made good cocktails - here's my espresso martini.
L. C.
I thought this place was great. The food was very tasty (got the BBQ pit) and the beer was different (Abita Purple Haze - Raspberry Beer). Service was sufficient and the location is nice.
B. L.
More American whiskey than you can swing a cat at
R. C.
Delicious food with grrat service.
M. L.
Get the 'zombie' steak! Incredible piece of meat perfectly cooked.

(Order the corn bread as a starter - you wont be disappointed)

Delicious assortment of meats available. The brisket is sensational and the pickled veggies compliment it perfectly. Worth a visit.

Great night out with my team. Perfect location for a group and the Thanksgiving menu was awesome. Really made our American guests feel like they were celebrating in style.
J. L.
Great ribs and brisket. Service was excellent. Good range of wines. Would definitely come back.

Very nice however, meal portion are tiny for what your pay, great staff tasty food just very very tiny
S. J.
What a great steak House, the food is amazing. I'd recommend getting a reservation. Service was a bit slow so don't go here if you're in a hurry.
A. P.
Good service and food for reasonable price.
W. E.
The food tasted great. The service was a little slow at the table but the bad experience was great. The bartender had a lot of recommendations and shares a lot of info!
G. J.
Cracking little place. Great good, nice wine and drink selection and fantastic views. Very nicely themed and excellent service. Have been here several times and will be back again. Cracking!
D. K.
Great food, even greater service.
M. C.
Ordered 1 kg pork ribs! 🤣🤣🤣
A. N.
For the prices you charge, you either need to put more food on my plate, or make it the best food ever so my taste buds dance, I got neither.. don't get me wrong, my brisket was nice, but I can nice for cheaper elsewhere.
G. P.
Was a lovely decor welcoming staff great selection of spirits.. had the 5 cheese platter and some drinks was really nice but a tad over priced for my liking but overall was a great experience
K. P.
Highly recommended. Friendly service, delicious food and a great range of drinks. Booked the private dining room, top atmosphere. Will be back.
S. R.
Food is fantastic and drink selection is expansive. Not the cheapest place to drink or dine but you get what you pay for. Our waiter Michael was great.
H. W.
Blackened tuna was amazing. The gumbo and brisket can be missed. Generally the service was good except for the cashier waiter lady, she was quite rude
B. S.
Very nice decoration, feeling like in Louisiana. The meat is great served gently and generously with good wine (which is a bit expensive though).
L. G.
Great service, convenient location and beautiful food. Perfect for a semi-formal catch up with colleagues.
M. P.
Largest whiskey selection I've encountered. Well trained staff with delicious food and cocktails!
K.
Friendly attentive service, great location and atmosphere, and tasty southern food! The scotch fillet and fish of the day (snapper fillet) was our highlight.
C. A.

J. K.

J. W.
Food was outstanding, atmosphere was great! Service wasnt good. No ownership over our table. Food was missed. Drinks left empty. It ruined the experience
D. L.
Beautiful decor. Loved the cocktails. Friendly and attentive staff. Probably the largest collection of american whiskeys.
m.
Food and service was excellent. Restaurant was not that easy to find but once instructions were given it was easy. Restaurant was facing the harbour from 1st level which was great. Kids absolutely loved it
M. S.
Only went for drinks and share plates of appetisers. Bar staff have a great knowledge of bourbon & whiskey - ask them for their recommendation and you won't be disappointed.
J. G.
Delicious, creative food experience. Great atmosphere and a lovely view by the window. Going around 5:30pm gives you the place to yourself.
B. M.
Amazing food and drink selection, you have to get the banquet for 8+ people... you get a great selection of all the great things they have on the menu.. pp price is more than reasonable
K. R.
Great atmosphere and very vibrant. Selection of whisky was very cool to see and the bartenders were very knowledgeable and helpful with deciding on cocktails
C. A.
The food was amazing! A bit over priced though. The service was lovely. I would go back.
T. J.
The food was wonderful, the wine even better! In the banquet the chicken was by far the best dish, so succulent and juicy with great smoked flavour!

J. W.
We had a wonderful experience here, the food was excellent and the staff were prompt and kind!! Really great atmosphere and over all enjoyable dining experience,
A. S.
nice atmosphere and epic bar. overpriced average meat-only dishes though. nothing to write home about
M. G.
A very trendy hipsters upmarket place. I went to listen to the band, Bony Kay and the Bonafides, and have a few drinks. The Friday after work crowd kept the place busy.
V. T.
Great staff, very helpful and stress free experience when booking for a large number of people(15+). The menue is fabulous and great overall experience to match.

Great service. Good atmosphere. Tasty food. They even made brussel sprouts good!
S. S.
Although they had our initial booking wrong, the restaurant stepped up. We had a magnificent dinner (even with one vegan and one vegetarian).
C. S.
Fun bar and restaurant. Great food and huge selection of drinks. It gets pretty busy and loud after business hours, so get in early to get a seat.
P. N.
Great food, friendly staff and amazing cocktails!
Worth a visit with friends and family.
M. W.
Drinks were good but it doesn't have a good vibe, just feels a bit weird, like it's trying to be upscale and trendy, but it just misses the mark a little.
J. J.
Super enjoyed the starter menu! Staff were very friendly. Will go again!
J. H.
Love the feel of this place and the food is delicious!! Go the grill masters platter.
A. K.
They were good, though I have to say I wasn’t blown away. Have yet to find a stellar brisket or pulled pork in Sydney.
T. D.
Great atmosphere, tasty food and a bartender who can make great drink recommendations according to your tastes.
J. T.
It's not too bad, but there is better (eg LP's Quality Meats). Pork belly the highlight, sausage and lamb a bit dry.
T. M.
Nice spot for afterwork drinks. I’ve had lunches there before a couple of times, okayish, I’d say, nothing has stood out.
J. B.
Great atmosphere, food, drinks and location. Loved the vibe here, and had great service.

D. S.
Shared a quick meal today - Gumbo and Cornbread fantastic. Excellent location and service, dying to go back.
N. A.
Cosy bar to visit after dinner. Is not at street level ( off main road and up lift) so you need word of mouth for people to find it ☺
T.
Excellent dishes. Nice, fancy but casual. Loved it!
R. R.
