Comments of Pane e Vino Trattoria Croydon

Quite simply some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had, it’s not greasy like some other places, and is great on the palate. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional. The service and turnaround are exceptional, and the portions are very generous for their prices! I will definitely be coming back.

Good service from the staff.
The pizza was amazing, I really enjoy the pizza base texture and the truffle oil was so beautiful.
Gnocchi tasted great, it melted in my mouth as I ate it.
Really delightful small Italian eatery here.
L. T.
This restaurant was packed tonight and the only seating available was al fresco. I’ve eaten here on many occasions and the food is always on point. Both the linguini cartoccio (aka papillote) and pizzas were delicious. If you love Italian cuisine please check this place out. You won’t be disappointed. They also bake their own bread.
R. K.
My favourite Italian restaurant in Sydney! The food is lovely and the service is even better. I love the fresh pastas that they serve and their woodfire pizzas are absolutely beautiful. Even in lockdown they deliver the best food and service out there. I recommend everyone to order and visit when lockdown is hopefully over soon!
S.
Beautiful food and excellent service. Will definitely be back!

A very good place to try great Italian food. Freshly made pasta and every dish we ordered was very good and tasty. Pizzas are good too but not the best of what I have tried in Sydney so far. All other dishes we had ordered were very good quality and very tasty.
Ambience is nice and cozy. Tends to get a bit loud on a considerably full day.
To avoid waiting for too long, please book your table in advance.
Overall, very good place. Would definitely recommend somebody who would want to try really tasty Italian cuisine.
T. C.
Absolutely beautiful Italian food. Only recently opened and definitely going to be around for a long time. Marco and the team deliver delicious, fresh meals which will having you wanting more. The gorgeous daily fresh made pasta and stunning woodfire pizzas will fully satisfy your cravings. The staff are amazing and offer wonderful service. This is a place which you will be wanting to go back to try every dish.

Pane e Vino Trattoria is located in a small shopping village and serves some of Sydney's best pizza’s, light and airy. The Stuffed zucchini flowers with ricotta cheese, parmesan & pine nut are a must. Another good thing is It’s BYO (bottle shop across the road) We all had a great night.
j. r.
Good was great and the service was polite and attentive. One star lost as the room was way too hot, opening a door or window would have been a simple way to fix it. Also, when we arrived we told them our booking and despite a number of tables being free (including the one we ended up being seated at) we had to wait, standing, in the very crowded doorway for about 5 minutes. These were minor things but they detract from the experience and so I can’t give 5 stars. They kindly brought us an extra plate of focaccia bread with olive oil and balsamic at the end of the night without being asked. That was lovely but the last thing you feel like after a hearty Italian meal is a huge plate of bread. Overall a great experience. I would go back. Little details need tweaking.
C. C.
Food was delicious, the pizza had a perfect crisp base! The service was great, very friendly and polite. They checked in with us that everything was all good, gave them the thuumbs up so giving them the thumbs up here too 😊

*4.5 stars
Been keen to visit this place for a while, it's always looked busy and full even during weeknights. Bookings are essential, even on a Tuesday night it was full. The setting is perfect, small, intimate, with really nice decor - fairy lights and vintage accessories. Customer service was also on point! They checked in a couple of times and followed necessary protocol when an incident arose. The food was delivered to our table pretty fast I would say. We only waited maybe 10/15 minutes for our food. There was 6 of us so we shared 3 pizzas and 3 pastas which was definitely more than enough. Could have probably ordered one less pasta. I've never really had legit Italian food so I can't really judge about this...all I know was that it tasted good. Pizza was light and fluffy - my favourite would have to be the prawns with tomatoes and chilli flakes. And because of the lightness of the pizza, it didn't feel too heavy or greasy after eating it. My pasta favourite would have to be the pappardelle with Ragu which was amazing. Tender duck and thick strands of pasta which was like velvet. And they also offer parmesan on the side if you like adding it! Some of the dishes were maybe too salty for me...but I think that's just my taste palette, I'm not used to always seasoning dishes. Overall great experience, would come again.

This place is a little gem tucked away in the lovely little village of Croydon. The locals know that this place is amazing and every time I go past I see that it is steadily getting busier and busier. The last time we went there were several people waiting for a table! The food is absolutely fantastic. They have a wood fire pizza oven in the kitchen which makes the pizze absolutely amazing. The ingredients they use on them are so fresh and tasty. The pasta is fabulous, fresh and full of flavour. My personal favourite is the pasta with truffle. The prices of the pizza and pasta is reasonable also. I think the main meat dishes are a little expensive, eg the porcetta is something like $35 which does taste good but is still a little steep. Gone are the days where Italian restaurants are affordable for all, but with Pane e Vino, you understand why some of the dishes are expensive, they’re just that good. The last time we went I had the veal with red sauce and mozzarella and it was fantastic. They know how to make a good sauce. The veggies that came with it on a small side plate were a little sad though. Often places put in so much effort with the actual dish that they neglect the veggies which is a shame because if they tried a little with them, I’m sure they could make them amazing also. Finally the desserts are great. I would like to see a little more variety with the desserts though. Perhaps more choice of gelato flavours and more Italian biscuits would make it feel like a true Italian experience and perfectly end the dining experience. The service here is also very good. Last time we went for absolutely no reason other than to be nice they gave us some free bread and olive oil which was a pleasant surprise. The main waiter (not sure of his name but he is from Italy) is super friendly and a great waiter. He also gave my Mum a free entree one time as she wasn’t sure which to choose from and decided to order the dish that my would be better to share. The waiter didn’t want her to miss out so he gave her the dish he could tell she wanted more for free anyway. Very nice of him. This place is sooo close to getting a perfect score, if they just add more desserts, make the veggies a little more polished and lowered the prices of some of the main dishes, then they would get a perfect score. One of the best Italian restaurants in the inner west that you must try.
D.
Hands down the most heavenly pizzas I've ever tasted they takes the crown. Thankyou Olivia and Francesco your service was flawless. Will come back again.
B. J.
Best wood fired pizza in Croydon. Friendly staff and a ever changing specials board that is based on seasonal produce.
T. P.
tl;dr pizza was excellent, but dropped to good as the temperature dropped
we came all the way as we heard about the popularity of this place by my partner's colleague. The interior and staff were fantastic. We were in the mood of pizza for a couple of days, so we couldn't help but order not one but two pizzas, an oil base, pesto pizza, and 4 cheese base pizza, two good extremes. The oil base looked quite nice as we dug into it immediately without waiting for the other one, the pesto was not overwhelming, and the balance of the ingredients was quite pleasant, the only problem would be that the middle of the base was too thin and the oil had cut through the base. The crust was quite thick but the dough was soo good to complain (we were crazy to order a pesto pizza, but my partner is a big pesto fan, so we couldn't help!). The other one was 4 formaggi with mozerella, gorgonzolla, pamesan and ricotta cheese (special menu), the gorgonzolla packed a punch but was balanced enough, a different bite meant a different texture/flavour. The base and crust was still nice, and since it wasn't oil base it wouldn't sabotage the base. The dough is great in general, but as time passes and i would call myself a fast eater, the dough cooled down and was a bit hard to chew. My opinion would be to change the pizza base accordingly to the type of pizza, oil has a more thick base and dry non-sauce base has a much thinner base. the crust is a bit too thick, the room temp is bit low, and not as moist, it would influence the crust texture.
Mojito was ok, and desert was nice but not over the top. In conclusion, would come back again to try other mains besides pizza!
A. T.
Beautiful Italian food. Unfortunately my order accidentally included meat within the arancini balls (I am vegetarian) but the staff were very apologetic and quick to replace. Would recommend to anyone looking for a romantic evening in a lovely atmosphere.
S.
Wow whats not to love about fresh italian? I have never been a big fan until I realised I had never had real italian food before. This place is my all time favourite. The food is incredible and the service is amazing. I went with 5 others and our food started coming out within 10-15mins. Well worth the wait. From that point on...food just kept arriving to our table. We loved it so much that we ordered extras to take home.
Perfect place for a real taste of Italy.
B. C.
Came across this gem and experienced the best pizza since visiting Italy a year ago, it was authentic Italian in terms of choice, portion and quality of ingredients. Would love to see more of this pizza all over Sydney
E. A.
Really good food and great staff creating friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Outstanding entrees - my favourite was the stuffed zucchini flowers. Gets a bit noisy but overall great place to eat.
A.
Fantastic porchetta! Also tried vittello gamberi - very nice creamy sauce. Happy to find this place!
J. D.
Great food. Went for my birthday and it was awesome
M. M.
Delicious local Italian food. We've tried quite a few Pizza's and have never been disappointed. The pasta's are also excellent. Our favourite is the lamb ragu pappardelle, my said "it warms my soul"... she has never said that about my cooking 😔
Easy 5-stars!!
L. J.
+ Friendly, efficient service
+ Quality food. Baked seafood linguine is delicious. Flavoured really well and did not skimp on the seafood.
+ Buffalo Margherita pizza cooked well
+ Convenient location in Croydon, near transport and free parking
+ Relaxed ambience, family friendly venue that accommodates large groups
J. P.
Amazing fresh pasta and pizza! Really homey
P. P.
Beautiful pizza all flavours a spot on, reasonable price, would definitely recommend 👌
A. T.
Love the food and customer service. Food was fresh and tasty .they gave us free dessert for easter. Loved it
L. M.
Love this place. Great locals pizzeria.
Highly recommend.
d.
Ordered via uber last night, delicious pizza, salad and seafood. Wish I had known about this joint before!
S. C.
We loved our night at Pane E Vino. The service was top notch and the food was equally delicious. We ordered the slow cooked pork, which was an absolute highlight. The hand made duck ravioli was beautiful and for entree the zucchini flowers were a perfect balance.
We were allowed to taste two wines before we ordered of which all were reasonably priced.
A great night out for dinner and somewhere we will most definitely be returning to.
T. M.
The food is always excellent. Very fresh and always fast. The gnocchi is a must. It can get loud in the restaurant when it's full. They accept byo wine as well which is great!
J. F.
We drive past this quaint place on our way to work every day. Decided to try it tonight and were definitely not disappointed. Great range of Italian food. The pizza bases are light, fluffy and really tasty. The service is exceptional. The staff are all really friendly and knowledgable. A great evening. Will be back.

We have been searching high and low for a solid pizza delivery place near our home. I rarely write reviews which should speak to how AMAZING the pizza is here!! Seriously one of the best in Sydney. Highly, highly, highly recommend if you're considering pizza. Diavola, margherita, and the garlic bruschetta. 10/10!!
R. R.
The pasta was so fresh I could taste all ingredients.
I really recommend this restaurant.
I am waiting for my desert but I don't think I need to wait to finish before giving it 5 stars
P. D.
Oh my god. The duck ravioli with sage butter is melt in the mouth good. All the pasta is hand made. You can taste the difference. The slow cooked pork with roast potatoes was just extraordinary. The best pork I have ever eaten. Also, you've got to try the pizzas. They have a beautiful texture due to the type of flour they use. You won't find better Italian food than this place and the prices are reasonable. BTW the Lisa McGuigan shiraz was without a doubt the best red wine I have had in years. What else can I say. Just go.
A. K.
Feels like some italian person personally cook for me specially. The atmosphere is very warm and i would say the food was the most authentic italian i have ever tasted in Sydney. Highly recommended. So~~ yum
T. R.
Simplicity is the key!
The food was amazing, with great vine options and great staff!
J. O.
Super cute place and the food was amazing, authentic Italian. The pizza bread pillows are absolutely addictive. Service was friendly and fast. We did go during a rainy, Friday for lunch, so not sure how they go during busier periods. But the food was divine.
I. I.
Great place. Neighbourhood gem, small and awesome. Hand made pasta, wood fired pizza and some excellent specials. Zuppa de pesce is highly recommended.
T. G.
Nice decor and atmosphere including the wonderful smell of authentic Italian cuisine. I had a light meal of delicious eggplant parmigiana and shared a rugula salad. Other dishes looked great too. Some items on the menu seemed a bit pricey but if looks and aromas are anything to go by, probably worth it. Fairly friendly staff.
c. s.
Great pizza and best arancini I've ever had! We came in late the other day at 9pm ish and were still very welcomed. Very friendly service and lovely decor. So happy to have found this pizza joint that's not far from home :)
w. c.
Have only ordered pickup so far but the pizza was amazing that I will definitely return to dine in! Great to find a good Italian restaurant locally.
L. E.
A pleasant place to have Italian for a Weekday lunch. Friendly service and reasonably priced.
My favourite dish here is the duck ravioli ; the quality of pasta for all dishes is very high, and better than any Italian place in the area. Small starter dishes are a nice idea, allowing one to try a few different things.
Good enough to keep coming back to again and again
C. L.
I love this place, it was truly reminiscent of my trips to Italy. Food was delicious as was the wine. It can be a little more expensive than a restaurant in Italy, but this is Australia.
Staff were great and the location, main st Croydon made it both pleasant and easy to get to.
W. H.
Very nice and authentic Italian pizza restaurant.
박.
Excellent food and staff.
want to visit again
C.
Food is so fresh, crazy beyond yum and service impeccable... definitely recommend. Only small issue is tiled floor makes it noisy and hard to have conversation, which happens in a lot of restaurants anyway
Z. D.
Not only the best pizza in Croydon but the inner west! Pizza with quality ingredients and always sooo fresh 💙
Its a weekly ritual for us!
T. S.
Authentic Italian food and friendly service made for an enjoyable experience. Loved the Woodfired pizzas and freshly made pasta. It can get busy so be sure to book. A family friendly restaurant which can get a little loud, so probably not ideal for those looking for a quiet and intimate setting.
s. 1.
Frequently getting a pizza from this place and it has been great so far! Fresh and tasty pizza, but wouldn’t recommend the pasta (dined in a few times and wasn’t impressed).
A. P.
Great pizzas and the pasta looked good too though we didnt try it. Lovely afforadable italian wine list but what made it was the lovely genuine waiter who looked after us! A real gem in the burbs! Croydon is lucky to have you!
J. H.
It's good. I come here now since La Margherita closed up recently (nooooo). Service very friendly, pizzas and pasta are fine. I like how they provide blankets if sitting outside. Would be great if they partnered with the bottle shop opposite to get more exciting beers on the menu.
J. D.
Great authentic Italian food.
Having lived in Italy for years I can confirm the authenticity. Recommend the fillet steak with pepper corn sauce.
Incredible looking Pizza, pastas and entrees.
Will definitely be back!

Located in Croydon we had a first time lunch visit with the family. Street parking. It was busy. The staff were friendly and the service was good. We tried a number of meals. Some were fair (saltimbocca), some were good (garlic pizza and calamari) but nothing excellent.
A. S.
Food was fantastic staff were very friendly with quick service, all of the food is made fresh here on-site. We had multiple pizzas and pastas and they were all on point. Very well priced as well for the quality of food that you get.
P. M.
There are 4 Italian eateries in Croydon now. Three of them are outstanding, and Pane e Vino is, imho, the top of the tree. The service is warm, relaxed and very efficient. The kitchen provides so much more than your regular, 'expected' Italian fare, and we love exploring their adventurous menu and trying something new every time we visit. The quality and innovation always excite and often surprise.
We're hooked - as are many, many other diners, it seems, judging by the fact that the place is always buzzing and frequently packed!!
D. K.
Excellent food, great service.
Enjoyed a range of fresh authentic dishes, tasty and very much on song!
We'll be back
C. L.
Great service and absolutely delicious food. They've got a some nice Italian wines on the menu, and a great range of breads, pizzas and pastas. Will definitely be coming back for more!
F. G.
Fantastic food, authentic Italian cuisine, great service
Recommend it to you all....
E. M.
AMAZING. Every single dish we had was mouth watering and made our taste buds sing (so sad that I didn't take photos). The arancini were melting balls of goodness. The prosuccito pizza was simple, yet light. Rustic and traditional. Paired with a chilli oil, puts it through the roof.
The duck ravioli was so worth it. The duck packed into tiny parcels of ravioli was tenderly cooked 😍 And paired off perfectly. with a light cheese and butter sauce that (once again chilli oil is a great addition)
The ricotta cheesecake.... Was soft heaven. It was cooked a mere 3 hours before we had it.
H. J.
in love with the food here. I've visited a few times over the last couple of years and have never been disappointed. the customer service is amazing and the FOOD IS TO DIE FOR - recommend the ragu bolognese
