Comments of Restaurant Kawul - Dining & Events
B. K.
Great venue. Food was excellent. Although, we waited 45 minutes for food to be served… our coffees arrived 60 minutes later. We were appreciative they were 4 staff down, however, couldn’t understand why they kept allowing walk-ins, if they weren’t able to manage the workload. All tables surrounding us were quite irritated, constantly walking up asking for ETAs on their food and beverage. Felt horrible for the staff, though, if told upon arrival, I’m sure patrons would’ve had a better expectation. I’d go back!
S. T.
Came here for brunch. 4 adults and a small dog.
Food and coffee was good.
Dogs not allowed upstairs but the outdoor terrace was good enough. Large and beautiful estate. 4 resident kangaroos on the grounds too.
N. K.
Had lunch with a group of 8 and the service was amazing! Ri took really good care of us. The chocolate fondant and wattleseed ice cream is to die for. Highly recommend.
J.
Food was delicious, tasted organic and healthy. I don't know how they managed healthy and delicious in the same sentence but they did. Yum. Recommend to sit outside, the view is amazing!

I give 4.8 ⭐️ the only thing were the gnocchi were a bit too soft to my liking, it might be my own taste, but the sauce was a delight, the scallops are also to die for, very tasty, both of the mains were really good, the lamb jus and the silverbeet were great combo, fish was cooked perfectly so were the vegies with a really tasty sauce.
Desserts were really tasty as well, could not decide which one was better between the ‘cheesecake’ and the lemon curd, a place to go when you in the Hunter valley.
J. M.
We attended locals night and it was a perfect experience. The atmosphere was great and the food was phenomenal. The flavours and variety of food was top notch. There was plenty of food as well with large serving sizes. Highly recommend. Must book in advance as it is popular.

Easter Sunday 22: Venue is a bit understaffed so seating took a bit of time. The scallop entree was lovely.
Ordered the Lamb shoulder main and it was really dry, probably over done in the oven. The lamb was a cut, not a shoulder as represented in the menu. The side veggies were meagre at best and over grilled (dry). Definitely had better else where.

This place was such an amazing breakfast experience with a table on the balcony. The absolute best quality food and coffee, also such friendly staff! Highly recommend the pancakes with raspberry sorbet and kumara rosti, both delicious. Its also great to have a wander round the property and see some kangas in the vineyard 👍👍
M. F.
The venue is fabulous. We enjoyed a lazy Sunday breakfast. The coffee was hot and outstanding. The food menu is interesting and offers a great range of options. Best all all was the friendly, attentive service. I was particularly impressed that the barista came over to our table to check that we were happy with our coffee. Kawul is a great place and definitely worth a visit.

Top quality food, great service in a nice location.
Best quality kids menu I have ever seen. Kids meals were real food, not cheap frozen meals like some restaurants serve, the kids burger was huge, beautiful fresh roll with a homemade meat patty.
Mains were beautiful, quality ingredients, good portion sizes. No food left on plates.
The service was great, engaged with the kids and warm and friendly.
Nice selection of beer too.
K. S.
Wow!!!! Australian tea (lemon myrtle, eucalyptus and sage) and the meals were amazing. Full of perfect flavours, creative and so delicious! The homemade hash browns were incredible. The pickled veg, rosti, all of it, just gorgeous! Siting in the morning sun, soaking in the view....best way to start our day.
X. T. T.
We had a lovely meal today with vegans and omnis all accommodated. Their food was really tasty and fairly well priced. Lovely location too.
J. R.
Amazing dining experience, food was plentiful and cooked to perfection, could of eaten the slow cooked lamb with a spoon.
The veranda setting was spectacular watching the sunset , the kangaroos & geese wandering the Estate. Service was exceptional. 10/10 Kawul
K. D.
Beautiful place for a very relaxing lunch. The food was delicious. Shiraz beef and barramundi are really good. The duck gnocci tasted good but I expected more duck in the dish. The desserts were amazing
They have a winery tasting in the same place.
A. H.
We loved the food, especially the Smokey Sweet Potato sauce, Every mouthful was delicious. Lovely setting in the Vineyards. Staff are friendly & helpful. Kawul is our favourite restaurant, we keep going back.
A. M.
Absolutely stunning location with fantastic food! Their menu caters really well to vegetarians and vegans without sacrificing on taste and overall impact. I wish there were more Kawul’s in the world.
M. H.
Amazing food and fantastic service. I had the zucchini fritters and added a side of chipotle bacon and it did not disappoint 👌🏼
Z. M.
Nice place in a beautiful area.
The service was great and the waitresses were friendly.
Food: for entree we had the local damper which was very tasty and melted in your mouth as you bit into it, as well as the polenta chips which were fine.
For mains we had the roast lamb which the meat was cooked to perfection but the price $38 to the size ratio didn't seem fair, also I didn't like the yoghurt sauce and combination of spices that it was sitting on.
My wife had the gnocchi and the warm green bean salad, all of which was very tasty.
Over all a nice experience.
P. M.
Great food and great service. What a surprise right in the middle of the Hunter Valley. This place is really, really good and far belies the location. We want to keep it to ourselves because it is so good - but I guess it is too late now! A lunchtime visit is a must sitting out on the balcony.
L. L.
We have dined at Kawul three times and on all three occasions our experience and meals were wonderful. Our most recent visit was with some friends and family to celebrate some birthdays and everyone enjoyed their meals and dining experience age range from 24 to 88.
B. B.
Enjoyed an awesome Breakfast on the Balcony. Food was fantastic, as usual. Group of Friends that were with us from Sydney just loved the Food, Service and view. Glad to be back at Kawul, one of our Favourites in the Valley.
J. E.
The breakfast here was absolutely outstanding. Best we've had! Such a beautiful setting too. Can't wait to go again the next time I'm in the hunter.
B. B.
We celebrated our 30th anniversary for lunch at Kawul recently and we both agreed the service and quality was still up to the excellent standard it was when Calais Estate provided the venue for our wedding reception back in 1991.
P. G.
Absolutely incredible meal. Staff where fantastic. Will definitely be going g back there.
I. L.
Delicious food highlighting native ingredients (e.g pepper berry hummus) attracted us to Kawul. The picturesque setting of Calais Estate Winery which Kawul is set in and the friendly staff who treated us like family made us want to return to Kawul again. Brunch at Kawul and walking about Calais Estate was a definitely highlight of our trip to Hunter Valley.
p. l.
Beautiful food.
Excellent service.
Great location.
We will be back.
R. G.
Happy to see more restaurants putting their minds and effort into creating good vegetarian/vegan food and Kawul is one of them. We had the salt bush polenta chips, Dutch Cream potato gnocchi and the potato and lentil burger. Beautiful presentation of colours and flavours work well together. Absolutely love the hint of spicy chilli 💕 Friendly service. However ambience and seating could be better considering the pricing.
J. D.
Absolutely wonderful experience that was the highlight of our trip to the Hunter. Beautiful view over the vineyards and incredible food served by friendly faces. Thanks so much to the whole team. :)
J. W.
Stopped by for breakfast and was glad we did. Had the eggs benedict and added the thick cut Chipotle bacon, the latter being the highlight for me. Everything was fresh and I even got to sneak a few bites of my son's leftover pancakes 👌
T. P. a. D. C.
Outstanding service and amazing meals. We came here with a large group for a work function and all our needs and requests were met and catered for without hesitation. Beautiful restaurant and great location. We will definitely come back and we highly recommend.
J. B.
During my 4 nights in the Hunter, I ate here 3 times. Everything was absolutely fantastic. So many wonderful vegan options. Beautiful location. The Organic wine next door is so good I took 6 bottles home!
S.
Beautiful views with great service and delicious food! Loved the variety and options on the menu. Will be back to try the heated whisky 😋
L. S.
We had a delicious lunch meal in beautiful surroundings on the verandah. The freshly baked damper with garlic was to die for. Highly recommend the Barramundi and Lamb Shoulder...just needed more of that yummy jus with the lamb as it was a bit scarce. We will be back again. A highlight of our recent trip.
G. D.
After struggling to find a restaurant with availability on a Saturday night we turned to Kawul as a last resort.Well, I can tell anyone who is looking for a great venue , beautifully presented and flavoursome food paired with matching wines [4] - you won't find better value !!!! You don't have to go with the 3 courses, bread and amuse bouche [and did I mention 4 matched wines ] for $110 per head if you don't want to but - why wouldn't you? Everyone who heads up to the Hunter knows there are half a dozen "top notch" restaurants - do yourself a favour and add Kawul to your list of favourites . Situated in Calais Estate - Jayden,Millie and their team won't dissapoint
T. F.
The prettiest location, friendly staff and most amazing breakfast I've had. It almost felt too fancy for me but nonetheless I absolutely loved my visit
M. M.
I recently took some out of town friends for a three course dinner here and it was divine!! Beautiful restaurant - building and location are stunning. The staff and service was impeccable and the food was glorious. We had stuffed zucchini flowers, vegan three cheese risotto and ALL the deserts, my vegan lemon meringue was perfect.
It's absolutely worth the drive out there. It's quite special.
B. Y.
We recently celebrated a 50th Birthday lunch on the balcony at Kawul. It was such a beautiful setting with delicious food and wonderful service. Highly recommended.
H. B.
Entrees were quality. The mains very good. Value for money especially for the Hunter Valley. Attentive and good service. Recommend for classy and casual lunch or dinner.
J. M.
This was a beautiful place to go for dinner. The service was great and paired our wines from Calais Estate. The whole meal tasted so fresh and had a great atmosphere. Will definitely be coming here again when next in the Hunter
M. J.
The waitress was highly attentive and a credit to the business.
We had two versions of the High Tea ($45pp) as one of our party is Vegan.
All the food looked visually appealing (see photos) Soup in a teapot was tasty and an interesting presentation. The chicken, bacon and corn pie was a standout for me. The vegan selection looked great, but the flavour combinations were frankly dissapointing, as was the tasteless jam that came with the scones.
M. V.
We had an overall fantastic time at Nanna Kerr's. From the friendly accommodating staff to the delectable dishes, we were highly impressed and will make this a must go to place anytime we visit the Hunter region. The Sweet potato pancakes with cashew cream and billionaires breakfast were both scrumptious as well as the turmeric latte with coconut milk. Great options for Vegan, GF, paleo or regular tastes. On top of everything else, their coffee is the nicest we have tried in the region as well. Hats off to the team for making such high calibre meals with organic produce where possible.
N. M.
Food was excellent, service was excellent, portions were to perfection and received a proper cappuccino with the melt in your mouth chocolate fondant! Will definitely recommend and visit again.
A. M.
Amazing! Recommend the scallops and the Mr Black cocktail. We all loved it and was nice to be able to book something last minute.
V. D.
Lovely place and lovely owner. They offer a wide variety of vegan options on the menu, but also have non vegan options. Great view and great wine.
The Burger was really good and we enjoyed our time there.
S. S.
A beautiful breakfast experience. The service was attentive but not annoying, the food was absolutely delicious and the location is stunning!
F.
We enjoyed a lovely brunch at Nanna Kerr's Kitchen. The food was good country home cooking with organic and vegan options. It"s got a quaint homely atmosphere overlooking vineyards.worth a stop.
B. S.
Good, honest food mostly locally sourced. Great view of Calais Estate from the 1st floor veranda. Nice spot for a relaxing, romantic dinner.
R. A.
Housed in vineyards of Calais Estate that has an extended veranda, Kawul Is a charming cottage cafe with indoor and outdoor dining that offers breakfast & lunch.
My vegetarian picks here were
Portobello Mushroom Shepherd’s Pie with broccolini & herbed peas, Potato & Lentils Burger with avocado, Local Damper and Polenta Chips. They get full points for having these fantastic #vegetarian and #veganeats
The Mushroom pie was to die for and their coffee was also just as amazing as their food.
C. M.
One of the best places to eat while at the Hunter!amazing food and cannot fault anything. BEST!
G. G. K.
Friendly staff , awesome coffee and quite possibly the best breakfast in the hunter valley!
Loved it. Thank you
M. L.
Great food and location. Very friendly staff and a relaxed dining experience. Visited for lunch and really enjoyed a great meal full of flavour. As a vego it was great to see thought put into the menu and many options easily available.
J. W.
YES DO COME HERE
We love the relaxed atmosphere, excellent food and exceptional wine
Such a beautiful view from their restaurant
Our annual visit that we would not miss
S. T.
Great place for breakfast with the family. We'll definitely be going back, food and service were fantastic.
H. S.
A wonderful spot for lunch with an amazing view of spectacular Calais Estate. The pancakes are unbelievable and a must-have at this restaurant.
A. A.
Cute little cafe tucked away off the main road. This place was a stand out breakfast joint during our short stay in the Hunter Valley. Yes, we did get pretty standard breakfast dishes, but they were done well with good ingredients... yum! Good coffee too! The scenery was beautiful to boot.
S. M.
This was a nice find. We're headed to another restaurant which was full by the time we reached there. So, we googled and this came up as nearby option. The staffs were amazing, foods were all yum-yum (chicken risotto was out of this world!) great view of vineyard, kids had room to run around as we sat outside.
L. D.
The restaurant is located on a beautiful winery where every table has a view. The food was excellent! The customer service was above anything I'd ever experiecned. All the staff were consciecous, caring and anticipated our table's needs before we knew them ourselves. Will definitely be coming back.
K. G.
OMG finally mouthwatering vegan & gluten-free food in the Hunter Valley. Thank you so much guys.
A real taste sensation. Couldn't take a photo of the hummus & pate, it was finished seconds after it arrived on our table - big portions just too yummy to take a picture. Highly recommended 👍
P. H.
This is a absolute Gem... Located at a very beautiful location... We went here for dinner and loved it... Do try out their vege mushroom burger, it was one of the best burger I have ever had.... The best part is you have lot of options for veg and vegan food... We were surprised to find out their desserts also had vegan options.... The staff is also very nice... And it has plenty of options for parking.. You shouldn't miss this place if ur in Hunter region...
T. D.
Cannot fault this place. I had concerns that it would be overly busy and slightly pretentious based on the celebrity connection but oh so wrong. This place is a must for your breakfast and I'm sure lunch too. Beautiful setting with a verandah overlooking the vinyards. I had the full breakfast...great local ingredients and the white wine, garlic and lemon mushrooms (guessing those marinade ingredients) were sublime along with the excellent home-made chutney (sold to take home too). Go visit Nanas...you won't be dissappointed. Probably worth booking on Saturdays. We went Sunday about 10:15 and walked in no problem.
B. P.
No pun intended but I Love this kitchen, and the vibe and the people in there plus everything else. A beautiful, picturesque setting and the food is just yum. Highly recommended!
D. D.
Came here for breakfast today, it was AMAZING! Definitely a great chef making these dishes! The waitress was so kind! Love this place!
C. R.
My husband and I has lunch here and loved it. We couldn't fault it. I had the beef cheeks and my husband ate the mushroom dish, both were delicious. We also did a wine tasting downstairs, the red wine was also very good. We bought a bottle. We would be happy to return.
A. B.
Ordered the fritters for brunch and sadly, they really lacked flavour. The place is incredibly serene and has a lovely view as well as a pretty nice tumeric latte but as a foodie, this place is a hard pass from me.
B. D. B.
Location Location
What a lovely restaurant
Kim the owner and staff made us feel very welcome and the food was amazing. Beautiful flavors from all natural ingredients
Would definitely go back next time we visit the Vineyards
A. V.
My wife and I were looking for a place to eat and kawul popped up. So without looking at the resturant or menu I set my gps and took a gamble. And it payed off the atmosphere is beautiful the service was friendly and the food is impeccable 👌. Both my wife and I had the lamb shoulder and fries and the lamb was so tender and the flavours were so great it was absolutely
enjoyable it was like a firecracker of flavours exploding all over your palette. The wine I had was beautiful and even my wife who is a moscato drinker had a glass it was so good. so 5 stars and is now our new go to in the hunter. Thank you kawul for a wonderful Sunday lunch.
R. V.
I have been eating eggs bendict at many venues atleast once a week for the past 10 years. This venue has made the best eggs benedict I have ever had since the 146 restaurants and cafes I have eaten at.
The bread is fresh crispy and not tough to cut at all. Adding the smoked salmon and the Hasbro on the side is delicious.
The best part is the consistency of the spinach and the smashed 🥑 .
If you live eggs benedict order it with the extras and let your mouth water at the amazing quality of the food and the kindess of the staff and chefs.
C. W.
Wonderful food. However whilst sitting on the deck eating we smelt a waft of sewerage every few minutes which definitely put us off the meal a little... :/
M. C.
Lovely setting and pleasant staff. We had a table for 18 and somehow they were able to produce high quality breakfasts and coffees in very prompt fashion
N. T.
Always a delicious brunch and good coffee. Service is friendly and a lovely view from the deck.
B. M.
Food was amazing with an excellent view. Definitely recommend a visit with a taste of some top notch wines to finish :)
I. L.
Great breakfast, lovely setting.
K.
Me and my boyfriend drove 2.5 hours from North Sydney to visit Nana Kerr's kitchen and for reference that was the only place we visited whilst at Pokolbin, so yes their delicious food (word of mouth from our friends) was the ONLY incentive.
Nana Kerr's kitchen is the perfect binary between luxury fine dining (although not intended to be but the quality of their food is superb!) and one of a kind, home made deliciousness.
Food: The quality of the food was amazing! The attention to detail, regarding adequate portions, tasteful ratio between sauce and meat/vegies was PERFECT. I can say with utmost honesty that each individual dishes were a diverse blend between vegies, meat and a little indulgence. The sundae I ate was also sweet AND savoury but still had a nice freshness to it, something that is VERY rare in deserts.
Overall the service was so nice too! Waiters were very informative regarding the menu and an absolute delight to interact with. I loved the home made cosines and warmth that this restaurant radiated.
Also Mathew and Jimmy are very hands on. I've never seen owners who actually get down and dirty and are on the frontline. Makes me feel they genuinely care. I was going to say hi to them but I felt a little intimidated!
Thanks for making organic food delicious and also letting us indulge in a bit of cheat food as well! x
K. L.
Amazing Service, beautiful view and gorgeous food. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone
P. G.
Great casual dinning experience with friends. The food and service was excellent:
A. P.
Unusual, but very tasty, local food. Service was a little slow and there was a mistake with our order, but once the team realised we received free coffees all round. Definitely a good move!
A. S.
Delicious food, lovely scenery! Great coffee too!
J. M.
Great place for lunch in the Hunter! Food was delicious, healthy and vegetarian options. Views are great, looking over the hills and vineyards
H. E.
Such a beautiful spot with great food and coffee. Definitely a great start to my day. The service was excellent also.
R. Z.
Lovely service and setting, great coffee and food. Everything made fresh and they were happy to help with food allergies. Will definitely go back
S. R.
We enjoyed a beautiful breakfast here. The veggie fritters were delicious and filling and their Chill Jam was amazing...we went home with our own jar!! Highly recommended 😊
G. S.
Had a great lunch. All the meals were delicious. I enjoyed the use of native ingredients. Had great service at a great sunlit location. I would not hesitate to recommend Kawul to anyone.
S. N.
We were pleasantly surprised how delicious and presented the food was here. The waitress was really friendly and helpful especially with a family with kids. Amazing views and serene dining atmosphere. One of our new favorite breakfast options for the Hunter.
D. P.
We recently had a wedding lunch here (26 people) and were delighted with the service and the quality of the food. All meals were delicious and a good size. During the planning process, nothing was too much trouble. To all of this, add the beautiful setting and we had a perfect dining experience. Highly recommend to others.
R. S.
Visited on a cool Sunday morning for breakfast in a group of 4, whilst the entire region was extremely quiet due to Sydney lockdowns the service was very attentive, all covid checks in place & the breakfast & coffees were excellent. All 4 breakfast selections were beautiful.
S. M.
My partner and I went here for breakfast 2 days in a row as we read they had great vegan options. The fritters + hash brown and local mushrooms to share as full of flavour and filling and their coffee was delicious 5/5. We would come back again and again to have that meal.
E. E.
So glad we found this restaurant - lovely setting, confident staff and great food. Highly recommend
D.
Loved this place so much we went back twice in 24 hours. The vegan options were incredible- best vegan dishes I've had in ages. Lovely outlook and good drinks.
M. P.
We had their 2 courses menu. The mains were really good, tasty and generous in size with fresh produce.
The desert were way too sweet for my own taste (we had the lemon curd and blueberries cheesecake).
The setting is very pretty with a beautiful view over the vineyard.
P. B.
This place is great. It isn't totally vegan - beef and fish featured on the menu - but the vegan dishes were so good I'm now a bit vegan-curious. Well done. Deserves to be busier on a Saturday night.
P. B.
Amazing food! Amazing ambience! Incredible location. Awesome staff.
There are so many vegan and vegetarian options to choose from here and they all taste so fresh and incredible.
The vegan haloumi is one of the best I've ever had ! It was delicious!
My companions enjoyed all their breakfast items.
The coffees and drinks were okay.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is very homey and warm and welcoming . Quite a relaxing and pleasurable experience. The view from the outside and inside is so beautiful. Surrounded by beautiful green hills and mountains and vineyards. You truly have an amazing experience.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating and a pleasure to communicate with.
Overall amazing place, very very vegan friendly but as well as regular cafe style menu options. Fresh and tasty food and great ambience and amazing staff. 100% would come again and you should definitely give it a visit!
Thank you. :)
G. I.
Food was fantastic, as was the service. Views also very nice, overall a very pleasant lunch.
Parking can be a challenge however so we ended up parking on the grass up the hill as we weren’t clear where to go when the designated car park was full.
V. L.
Great food, friendly staff and beautiful scenery.
A. J.
This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been. The view here is amazing. Out of their menu, sticky date pudding and the burgers with chips are the best. The burger buns they have is so much different from all the burgers I've ever tried. It's not at all heavy. It's absolutely light and you're not so guilty after eating it. I highly recommend this place.
G. R.
We hadn’t heard of Kawul but highly recommend for dinner. We had their two course dinner and it was delicious. Service was friendly and perfect. The restaurant is made so cosy with their huge open fire. We thoroughly enjoyed our coffees by the fire at the end of our dinner. To top it off, they sell their delicious sourdough, so we have some for breakfast tomorrow! Great value and great experience
m. s.
Great place with a amazing view of the vineyard. Food is delicious and well priced. Don't forget to try out the cheese cake.
L. H.
Food was delicious. Waitstaff friendly and professional. Wine great too. Could not fault for anything, most enjoyable lunch out. Will certainly return.
R. N.
My favourite restaurant. Delicious food, beautiful location, great service.
E. B.
I visited the Hunter Valley this weekend past and found this place to eat breakfast as the only place advertising plenty of Vegan options. I'm so glad I did, we ate at Kabul both mornings and it was a delightful experience. The food was fresh and delicious and the staff (Riya & Georgia) were lovely and welcoming. Will definitely be back x
K. J.
Would recommend you try Kawul!! Food was beautiful, very pleasant staff and atmosphere of Calais Estate was picture perfect.
Will definitely be back.
N. P.
Really great breakfast
J. G.
Lovely view from the deck, food took a little while to come out but was delicious and unique - especially the desert. Some great vegan options, the organic lemonade was amazing! The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgable about the area. The owner was lovely, she came over and had a lovely chat about the area and menu. Lovely atmosphere to the place.
C. S.
Had recovery brunch after a wedding on a Sunday, the court yard could not be a better choice. The bae roll and coffee was a great hang over cure, breakfast for the 30 people that showed up was very prompt and staff extremely polite. Would highly recommend for brunch in the Hunter Valley.
A. N.
Absolutely amazing service, outlook and the food was devine. Everyone at the table adored their meals. The Bacon and Egg roll was hands down the best I have ever had. If you want a good breakfast this is your place to go
K. M.
The food was delicious with perfectly ample portions and it was nice to have a couple of vegetarian options. The service was prompt and friendly, and the elevated views over the vineyard from the verandah seating was very relaxing. A pleasant experience.
A. K.
Really relaxed atmosphere for a casual lunch. We ordered the beef burger which was a generous serving size - and amazing! The King Dory was also great and fresh! My wife and I very much enjoyed - thank you to the staff for accomodating us even without a booking.
K.
This place has become our favourite place for breakfast after our experience on the weekend. The food and coffee was brilliant and enjoyed the best eggs benedict I've had for a very long time.
The atmosphere and service is great with nice views of the Calais Estate from the upstairs verandah seating.
Definitely worth a visit.
P. E.
We came here when they unfortunately were understaffed and super stressed. However the staff still kept composure and provided a good service. The kitchen also kept their standards high abd we were super impressed by the vegetarian meatball pasta. We're not usually one for vegetarian meals but it tasted great, good flavours and nice texture.
The backdrop of the restaurant is a beautiful vineyard and we got to see the sun setting behind it. Awesome place.
M. F.
Great views and service, was impressed by their chocolate avocado pancakes, would visit again if in the Hunter Valley.
J. S.
Under new management who are absolutely nailing it. We comeback here for a second evening meal. One of the only spots that has an open fire, which beautifully compliments the incredibly fine dining and sublime service.
If you’re in the hunter valley I can’t recommend this place more. Looking forward to coming back to try their breakfast menu
K. B.
Exceptional food and staff not to mention the beautiful view of the vineyards! Would highly recommend a visit!!
E. C.
Amazing food, super friendly staff, plenty of vegan options and a wonderful view.
A. T.
Picture says a thousand words ;)
P. B.
Great friendly environment with exceptional food.
Y. D.
Had breakfast here, so delicious! You can taste they use fresh regional products. We had the eggs Benedict, pancakes and peanut butter on bread. Most of the menu is vegan. You have a gorgeous view on the vineyards while dining in or outside on the veranda.
The staff is very friendly. They are also open for lunch or dinner on some days. Next door you can go for wine tasting.
C. G.
Lovely surroundings, great service and wonderful food. Value for money
J. A.
Excellent food and services. The staff is very friendly and the food (lunch) was really good. Not too completed and not the basic food you will find any where else. Would have loved to see one or two options as kids menu but the staff recommended the vegan meat ball that our kids absolutely loved.
Will come back for sure
S. B.
I loved this dining experience, especially the entre' Dukkah and ciabatta. looking forward to returning in the near future.
L. H.
Food and view is really nice, the staffs are quite friendly, but flies were quite annoying especially when food is on the table
M. M.
Very enjoyable lunch with a nice outlook staff very attentive and the bubbly wine was nice
L. H.
Best place to land a helicopter! And get engaged!
Great service and friendly staff, and very interesting menu that is original and delicious.
C. C.
Great food, great view, we'll be back!
M. G.
One of the best dinners we’ve had in a long time. Exceptional food - delicious and healthy, customer focused service and a beautiful setting. We come back, no question.
One tiny point though: we would have loved to tip the gorgeous service staff for their amazing work but the eftpos machine does not allow for it. Hope that changes soon.

Great food, fresh and clearly local. If you're interested in Australian bush food and flavours this is the place. The focus of the menu is vegan and vegetarian however there are great and satisfying meat options also. Everything is presented ready for Instagram. Plus they have a kids menu.
Recommend for any visit.

I went here for my birthday to try the vegan high tea with my mum and sister but some elements were missing. I don’t think the chef read his schedule or it wasn’t communicated by the staff as we heard him say in the kitchen “nobody told me I was supposed to prepare a vegan high tea” The raw cheesecake wasn’t given to us which is raved a lot in the vegan community so I was a bit disappointed to not receive it. We were substituted with a brownie/protein ball which is fine but the staff should’ve at least explained why. However most food was tasty I adored the raspberry sorbet and the gluten free bread was amazing. Great location but definitely a once in a lifetime experience.

We booked for breakfast today Sunday 15 July for 8 people. Table inside wasn’t ready, so we waited outside for 30mins before asking again if our table was ready. Finally the table was set and we sat down. It was 1 hour before our orders were taken. Our food was overall very nice but the beverages need to be improved. No soy milk! Don’t use tea bags served in a tea pot. One of the specials “smash avocado” had already sold out. Clearly not enough wait staff for a very busy breakfast spot. Lovely views of the vineyards too.
F. M.
Really loved my Fritters. Staff and owner are very lovely. Will be back soon!

What A Gem.
Believe it or not this was our second pick! we couldn't get a booking at the first pick and spotted this.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. Our food was served with a suitable delay so we weren't felt rushed. The setting is stunning, overlooking vineyards that stretch to the base of the mountains. We sampled some wines before lunch as well. Perfect location to spend an afternoon.
Highly recommended
K. P.
Lovely place to stop over for some lunch in the middle of a vineyard... and dog friendly! The burger bar is great.
A. G.
Amazing! Had an incredible degustation menu perfectly matched with wine. It's refreshing to meet an owner who is passionate about food, it's origins and prepares it with such respect.
Highly recommended A++++ Vegan friendly but also amazing protein dishes
Thanks for a wonderful night with terrific service.
B. C.
This place was ok. My cocktail was way too sweet and my burger patty was still pink inside and tasted a bit like a butcher. Didn't have a great atmosphere and the staff weren't very enthusiastic.
J. W.
Amazing food in a beautiful setting. Very accommodating to our menu substitutions. Waiter was lovely as well. Would definitely go back. Their homemade condiments were delicious too!
J. W.
We visited because the menu is all organic, primarily vegan and read very well, but unfortunately we were disappointed with the food. I had the portabello mushroom meal which had no flavour, as well as the 'scallops' which was one mushroom stem cut into 5 pieces and they charged $17 for it.... Many of my guests had the lamb shoulder which they said was overcooked and dry. The service and view was great though.
L.
Today we visited Nanna Kerr’s kitchen for a ladies long lunch for a girlfriend’s birthday. The food was delish with lots of yummy vegan options and the view was beautiful. But our favourite part of the day was how Matthew, Therese and all the staff made us feel like we were part of the family. They went above and beyond to make our lunch special and our day was super enjoyable. I highly recommend a visit.
A. S.
Absolutely loved this place and would highly recommend it. Stunning location and views. Staff were so friendly, welcoming and offered great service. We went here our first morning and loved it so much we came back the next day. The food was great value and delicious. Full of flavour and big portion sizes. Coffee was nice too!
One of the owners took the time to give us some winery recommendations which we really appreciated.
R. F.
The most amazing food! We went for a work function as a number of our staff members are vegan, but they had non-vegan food as well and I had one of the best steaks of my life! Do not look anywhere else, this place is so beautiful with food to die for!
S. C.
Not good for large groups. Run out of food and quality was poor. Staff where not friendly, which was surprising.
F. P.
The cafe has original menu options with an emphasis primarily towards vegan dishes. There was however a most flavorsome brisket burger that I thoroughly enjoyed. If you prefer a light option, the salmon salad was also very appealing with its fresh ingredients.Im no vegan but definitely a place to visit for fresh and healthier dining options. It's a quaint little cottage overlooking the vineyards providing some of the most picturesque surroundings in the Hunter.
D. R.
We decided to except a $1 deal to experience a Vegan 2 course meal so 5 of us ventured to Nanna Kerrs Monday 23rd April which we were not disappointed. Please note I am not a Vegan but my perception has changed dramatically and I enjoyed this amazing meal and look forward to many more. Jimmy Kerr was a great host and Chef Mat his partner should be very proud of his efforts, the meals were full of colour, presentation was noticed and every mouthful bursted with many flavours in your mouth which created conversation as to what each was experiencing. Oh and the organic wine was easy drinking. Well done boys keep up the deals and great experiences. X
G. W.
Awesome menu and even more awesome service.
N. H.
Great service and food was delicious . Would definitely recommend .
A. H.
Ordered iced coffee, blueberry and banana smoothie, billionaire eggs, and brisket burger.
Things we liked:
Remote location, great view, great decor.
Very friendly staff.
Food was excellent, they were out of brisket but substituted with chorizo.
Iced coffee excellent, unique in taste and not the stereotypical iced coffee.
Wine tasting right next door.
Dog friendly.
Things we diddnt like:
Smoothie tasted good but was at room temp. Had alot of coconut in it which was not listed with the other ingredients?
Lots of flies!
M. H.
We had a fantastic breakfast at Kawul this morning. The food was delicious and the staff were attentive and friendly. The views are fabulous, too. Can't wait to go back to try the lunch menu!
A. H.
Menu was extensive for a vegan experience. The quisine was delicious and sweets yummy especially the lemon meringue pie. Very attentive staff and the views from the restaurant were beautiful. Definitely would recommend this restaurant.
R. L.
Delicious, interesting food, good (though short) wine list and friendly service. Very busy, so a little slow, but that was fine.
A favourite of the friends we were with, and we can see why.
M. T.
My partner and I visited Nanna Kerr’s Kitchen on our hunter valley winery adventure and so glad we did!!!! Beautiful food, wine, location and service plus it’s all ORGANIC! What more could you want?! Highly recommend.
H. J.
Went to Kawul for lunch as part of a wine tour and cannot speak more highly of the service and food we received! The menu offered some great options for meat eaters and vegans alike, and they went the extra mile to accomodate for our large group of 20. Would highly recommend!
A. C.
This pace is amazing! Good, friendly service. Wonderful views on the deck. I had the pumpkin waffles and they were outstanding. Vegetarian friendly. Will be back here next time I am in the area.
P. A.
Located just off the main road, with an amazing backdrop, Nanna Kerr's is a refreshing option in the heart of the hunter valley. Just what the doctor ordered, fresh and healthy food options. Something difficult to get when away from home, especially in tourist destinations.
Cannot fault anything...great food, beautiful location and excellent service.
B. B.
Absolutely love Kawul! The best food we have had and the best service ever! Thank you for making it such a great experience! We will be back
L. M.
Delicious food with a great view and friendly service
S. B.
Took my daughter to Kawul for her birthday lumch. Excellent food, liberal use of bush foods which I loved. Service was very friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back.
L. I.
My recent and first visit to Nanna Kerrs Kitchen was absolutel fabulous. My aunt, grani and I (plus the two little boys) loved the high tea traditional menue along with their catering for our lactose intolerant one. The service from the young lady was also fantastic and I'd highly recommend dining with them again. A big thank you to Matthew and his partner along with the whole team for the wonderful experiance...
L. S.
Beautiful scenery lovely food great service will definitely be coming back
L. E.
The best breakfast menu in NSW - a must.
J. A.
We came here the day after we got married, always wanting to check it out.
We were a bit disappointed, it honestly felt like an over priced café, not a wonderful restaurant. The food was a little meh and when we left we just didn't have much to say about the experience sadly.
The view and location is wonderful, the staff were friendly as well.
K. C.
Went for brunch today, with daughter and 2 small children. Unfortunately had to wait for 45 minutes for the meal to be bought out once we ordered. Most other restaurants I have visited bring the children’s meals out with little waiting time. Once we got our meal it was ok, the serving were rather big.
W. G.
Sitting on the deck looking out at vineyards was very relaxing. The vegan burger was very tasty and loved the kombucha. Service was great. Will be returning.
H. P.
What a super friendly staff 👏 and delicious 😋 foods!!!
N. H.
A pretty spot for brunch and shared the yummy spicy beans with added chorizo, potatoes which werw nice but not so much omg for $9...loved the scones though an delicious home made jam! Also quick with getting our meals after ordering!
R. S.
Nana's got a sore head (for 1) was the perfect hangover cure. This place was chosen by the bride for a post-wedding brunch. We were a large group with over 20 people but everyone got fed and watered eventually. I'd go back here the next time I'm in the Valley.
M. M.
Good food and good service. The wild peacock was an amusement for the kids
J.
Great authentic food, friendly staff very attentive and they definitely know their coffee. Will definitely go back
C. P.
Gorgeous lunch. Thank you
R.
We shared the polenta chips and the roasted capsicum spaghetti with prawns. Absolutely delicious. Lunch in a beautiful setting, friendly service and wonderful food.
T. P.
Wow! The first thing you notice is the picturesque setting, then the welcoming staff, delicious food, great coffee and friendly, attentive service. These guys have it all together. Thanks for making our day so awesome!! 🙏🏽😊👏🏼
M. D.
Yum! The breakfast menu is concise yet it has something for everybody. Great recycled theme carried through every aspect... expect the food, of course. Great service, ample portions and great flavours.
m. c.
Great restaurant in Pokolbin which specialises in organic and vegan food. Lots of great specials such as $5 main courses! Set in the middle of a vineyard with a relaxed atmosphere suitable for families. Recommended.
G. I.
Beautiful outlook, lovely staff and fresh beautiful produce: the flavours of the vegan food did not disappoint. Home made sparkling water. Highly recommend
J. P.
Situated in the midst of wineries in Hunter Valley, this place has gorgeous views all around. Wonderful staff & service, great food 🥘/specials keep changing, good drinks and I must add fussy toddler friendly.
C. P.
Friendly inviting staff, the food and coffee was amazing, definitely worth dining at.
M. B.
Had an amazing meal here and the service was great too!!! Great menu (albeit limited) and prices are very fair too. Great setting! Will definitely be back again!
M. G.
Great food and very nice place to eat. Family friendly.
D. M. C.
Unfortunately for some reason they only served all day brunch when we went there, which was a bit disappointing, especially since this was not mentioned from the beginning. Apparently all tables outside were reserved, but for the 2 hours we were there, only half of the tables outside were in use :( the inside could be better, it looked cheap and uninspiring. Overall it was an okay experience.
G. H.
Visited Nana Kerr’s for the Therese Kerr wellness talk and it was absolutely phenomenal! Spectacular food, wine, people, location and information! Thank you Jimmy and Matt! Can’t wait to come out and visit again soon :)
M. D.
Beautiful view, great service, however a $21 eggs Benedict only came with eggs and ciabatta - no salmon or bacon... That's an extra $6 which I find ridiculous.
C. T.
Amazing food and service. A big thank you. We had our staff Christmas party here. We will be back! Regards from Dr and Mrs Beldholm
B. S.
Great setting at the foothills of the mountain looking out over vineyards. The food was delicious and they delivered friendly service. Definitely worth a drop in! Try the eggs and chorizo :)
F. G.
Amazing, beautiful food and brilliant wine.
W. P. L.
Amazing food, wine and loved hearing the story how the business came about. Nanna's home was destroyed in a fire, the kitchen was the hub of the home. So glad you felt the need to recreate Nanna's kitchen for everybody!
S. F.
Great location and view from the deck. Super friendly staff. Food could have been tastier, fritters were a bit bland. Coffee great.
K. S.
Gorgeous view and gigantic portions for breakfast. Sharing is probably a good idea. Staff was very friendly and my coconut latte was tasty.
E. B.
Beautiful outlook, friendly staff and amazing fresh produce. If you're not vegan already, this restaurant might just convert you. 5+ stars!
A. K.
Beautiful settings near vineyards, there is also an organic/biodynamic wine tasting next door. We had coffees and cakes which were yummy.
D. P.
Options for vegans and Indian vegetarian, food is tasty
G.
Good Food, Nice Environment.....👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
M. S.
Great menu and location. Breakfast options varied, tasty and different. Try the Bush Tomato Bloody Mary!
C. R.
The only dog friendly dinner spot we could find in Hunter valley and the bonus was amazing gluten-free and vegan meals and lovely serving staff.
L.
Fantastic food, a must try! Amazing vegan and gluten-free options, great beats and Rhi is the best waitress!
J. W.
Waited for over an hour for our food. Was not impressed with our meals and the coffee was a disappointment. The view and the vibe were on point which is why I'm giving three and not two. Maybe it was the day but one of the staff was rude which ruined the whole experience.
J. S.
Great food, with good options for vegans and non vegans alike. Great views, with great service and a good casual atmosphere,. Get the cheesecake!
J. S.
Amazing in ever way! Great friendly staff great food great beer and wine, cannot fault! I recommend the drag bingo night, we had such a good night!
G. M.
Would not recommend. Dishes were expenaive for what you get and not very flavourful. There are better places around. Also offered sparkling water without being told it would be 15 extra for the table
C. H.
Service and food excellent- loved the squid in particular
J.
Good food, though coffee could be far better. Needs to be stronger and the barista needs to learn not to overheat milk, it massively affects taste in a bad way.
J. E.
Disappointed with limited menu choices and also having to step over people's bloody dogs to get to our table. People were nice but the dogs killed it for me. I won't return.
S. F.
Really nice place with vegan options
C. P.
Best breakfast/brunch I had in a while. Tucked in the middle of the vineyards, this cosy restaurant serves no nonsense food, with extra large portions.
A. R.
Great view and good enough food
Z. S.
