Comments of Robertson Pie Shop
T. L.
We had plain pies, which were very nice and a curry pie, which was nice. Custard tarts were up there with the best and the apple pie with cream was delicious. Hot chips were also a winner.
Prices were pretty good, I expected them to be overpriced, but they weren’t.
Seats in the outside dining area aren’t very comfortable, however I’m just happy we got a seat and table, as they are very busy.
Considering the large queue, the service was very fast and staff were lovely and friendly.

The famous Illawarra Pie shop is probably somewhere everyone identifies with about Robertson, having been a stalwart in the area since 1961. It’s like a rite of passage to buy a pie if you’re in the area or passing through.
They’re nothing crazy fancy, but your old school pie, thin pastry filled with sweet and savoury ingredients. Whether it be your favourite meat or curry fillings and plenty with fruit insides too, like the cherry pie. They also do family sizes.
They’ve also got a mighty big vanilla slice, muffins, custard tarts, donuts and Portuguese tarts.
Plenty of parking, quick service and ample room to sit and enjoy your pie if not taking it away.

Chilli beef pie was fresh but barely above room temp. Only the spiciness made it edible + i was hungry. Was a Sunday & busy but still...? Beautiful location for a rest stop, haven't been here for years.
R.
A definite must stop location! Had a regular pie and a flat white coffee, both just the way they are meant to be... hot! For seconds I had a Portuguese tart and that was yummo as well! To take home I purchased a kilo tub of locally produced honey. I was also very pleased to find out they now accept American Express so I got my bonus points too! Service from staff very friendly!
A. C.
Steak and mushroom pie, was tasty and hot. Hubby had curry which was apparently also good but could of been a tad warmer.
Apple pie was good.
Service was friendly and efficient.
There was a line up due to Covid rules, however moved pretty quickly.
J. T.
Fantastic pies.
We had the Creamy lemon pepper chicken pie and Spinach and Feta pie as well as one of their giant wagon wheels.
I’m a little picky with my pies but Robertson’s Pie Shop really did impress me.
The fillings were chunky, flavourful and not overly thickened.
The pastry was crispy but also flexible and did not fall apart when handled.
I highly recommend a visit.
J. M.
I am not usually a pie eater however tried the chicken and leek pie on our way back from a weekend away.
It was wonderful. The pastry was light and flaky and filled with quality ingredients - fresh leek, quality trimmed chicken and and a rich cheese sauce. Perfect.
Based on my lunch, I bought two family mince pies to take home for the freezer.
My traveling companions were also well impressed with their purchases - both savoury and sweet.

I feel this pie shop is a bit overrated. I have had better pies elsewhere.
They have a wide variety of flavours. The pastry doesn't taste fresh, a bit dry like frozen pie kind of texture.
They have plenty of seats inside and outside. It was very crowded when I visited on Sunday. There was a long queue, about 10 mins wait.
Very cleaning and comfortable dine in space.
Worth trying once but I wouldn't be visiting again. I am sure there are better pie places in the Southern Highlands.
Z. C.
Pies were alright but they definitely have a homey feeling to them. Heaps of parking, plenty of seating and clean toilets. Good for a quick lunch stop.
J. G.
I had been here years ago, and when I was cruising, decided to pop in again. The dingy shop was staffed by busy, rather than friendly staff. There was confusion around chunky vs mince meat pie. I love chunky (cubes of beef) pies, but in spite of ordering chunky, the minced, low on meat big on gluggy gravy pie while not awful, was not good. Many much better pie shops, I won’t bother again.
P. P.
Super yummy pies. The way they should be made. Not like the hipster trendy pies of Sydney. Also this place is all over tv in the Subaru ads!
L. J.
Very average and over priced pies. We got the chunky steak and 2 apple pies (with and without the cream). The steak was very dry and over cooked. The apple pies tasted like it was made from canned fruit, and was bland. The cream made it a little better. Spoke to a local, and they preferred the little pie shop down the road. This is an obvious tourist trap.
J. M.
One of the best Pie shops in Australia. If you are in the area you have to stop by. We had a delicious chilli beef pie ( very chilli) and a chicken, leek, & Camembert pie for mains ( a mix you have to try). Dessert was an amazing apple pie!
N. V.
Update: post lockdown trip to Robertson and picked up some steak and mushroom pies, absolutely yum! Such good pies. Lamingtons are still exceptional as is the custard tart 👍
Stopped off for pies but it was the lamington that was the winner!
The lamingtons at the Robertson Pie Shop are the lightest and fluffiest I have ever tasted. They are so yummy, they are simply joyful to eat. Also had the beef bourguignon pie which was outstanding. Custard tart is also worth a mention.
There is plenty of parking and tables by the park to sit and chill.
Bathroom is super clean and social distancing is enforced
D. J.
Fantastic food, clean amenities, stop! don't drive past like I did many times before.
Go in have a pie and a coffee, I had the potato pie it was fantastic. They also sell great coffee.
Just check that sit down service is available during Covid.
Have a nice day 🙂

The pie filling was no better than frozen pies you can find in supermarket; however pastry was flakier. Advertisements claim their pies to be “famous”; hardly a worthy statement.

The famous Robertson Pie shop and bakery is located up near the Kangaroo Valley to the east of Bowral and Mittagong in NSW south of Sydney. You can get there either from the Hume Highway or from Nowra and Kiama on the south coast on the Illawarra Highway. They have been baking for decades and have some of the best pies and tarts, savoury pies and sausage rolls, a selection of fresh dessert pies and tarts and slices, apple, berry, cherry, peach and apricot are some of the flavours. If you are travelling in the area make sure you stop and have a good lunch or breakfast.
J. f. O.
Nice pies at Robertson Pie Shop. The Portuguese tarts and apple pies were nice also.
N. S.
Very popular shop with some great tasting pies, they have both sweet and savoury and heaps of options. Takeaway and dine in available.
J. O.
Loved the chicken and cashew satay pie. Big range of pie flavours available. Not much in the range of sweet pastries. Our Portuguese tarts were tasty, but pastry was tough. Service was slow too with a long queue outside.
S. Y.
Chicken Leek and Camembert absolutely the best, especially when eaten warm. Beef and mushroom not bad either. Apple pie was heavenly and tasty. Best to pop into oven so it's nice and crusty. Enjoy!
F. S.
There are vegan sausage rolls here now :) can't wait til there are pies !
r. s.
Coffee is ok but the pies are to expensive,I had a pastie very dry and cost $7.80.for a $3 at woolies which are better.
M. P.
The staff member was extremely friendly and polite. I was very impressed with the service. The meat pie was delicious. Overall, it’s a good place to visit.
B. B.
I love this place. The pies are great and the staff friendly.
And considering how busy the place can get the wait times really aren’t bad at all.
I habitually stop in every time I’m in the area.
J. Q.
Kinda off a main road but there was ample parking and a nice seating area nearby. The place itself had indoor and outdoor seating and was quite big. The staff were friendly and the pies were good. Try the award winner: the chicken, leek and camembert pie. It was different to your regular meat pies, but was also quite interesting. They also sell sweet pies!!
D. J.
Ive had a pie or two in my day, and this hands down is the best pie shop in the world.
M. A.
Oh oh oh.... what a great pies, the best of the best!!! Service is great too. Too jam balls are excellent!!! I must stop when drive around!!!
S. B.
I have had better pies before but definitely worth a visit on the way to/from Carrington Falls area as a pit stop. The staff are friendly and there are a great variety of savoury and sweet pies to choose from.
S. P.
Delicious pies and nice coffee too
The Volcanic Pie is a MUST TRY for the people who like a bit of spice
P. C.
Good selection of pies&pastries, just a little pricey! But worth the trip.
R. H.
Always plenty of staff eager to serve you. Beautiful hot and cold pastries, great spot for a stop, eat and refresh.
S. A.
This pie shop is an institution in the Southern Highlands and very old school. It is popular on weekends as its a perfect stop en route to and from the coast.
Pies are served straight up in paper bags. There are a lot of tables to sit at but these fill up too on weekends.
As obscure as it sounds the award-winning chicken, leek and camembert pie is awesome. The camembert was melting perfectly over the thick chunks of chicken.
Reasonably priced and the staff are friendly even when the place is rammed. You might want to bring some serviettes on weekends as these ran out on our visit.
E. W.
If you loved hot spicy and want challenge yourself, you should try chilli pie or volcano pie 🥧😁
A. F.
Great range of pies and cakes, coffee OK, very quick service. Plenty of parking, seating can be limited as this place is extremely popular. Motorcycle friendly.
S. S.
One word Fantastic and the staff are so helpful as they always approachable and talk you with the best pies 😍They are accepting the NSW dine vouchers at this moment so that's a plus and the pies are definite plus to the power 2 😁
P. T.
Every time I drop in, there are always other people there - a good sign of its popularity. This time we added a family Cherry pie to our order. One word - "yum!"
D. R. (. T. W. A.
A great place to catch your breath after riding up Macquarie Pass or preparation time for the downhill run. The speed limits in the area are heavily enforced and be mindful of the heavy vehicles and caravans travellers who also use the Macquarie Pass.
The Robertson Pie Shop offers more than their prize winning pies.
K. H.
Loved the chicken and camambert pie as well as wildberry and apple.
Coffee was OK.
N. M.
Honestly speaking, The pies and sausage rolls sold here are definitely worth more than what you pay for... The stop you should not think of avoiding while driving through this route.
M. P.
Hadn't been here for many years. The pies are still great but some of the atmosphere has been lost.
A. L.
The volcanic chili pie is absolutely delicious. The perfect amount of chili leaving you wanting more. The pastry is flakey and crisp on top, it potentially could have done with a little bit more meat but overall it was great.
The cherry pie with cream was also amazing. The tart and sourness was complimented by the fresh cream.
Service was great. The young staff were friendly and attentive
L.
Very good pie. Great pastry. Good service.
L. R.
We were looking for a place to eat while on road trip. The pies were really good. You should try them out for sure.
R. M.
Always go here for my pies the chicken leak and camembert pie is absolutely amazing the pastries and sweets are just as good absolutely love this spot as its always a chilly place as I love the cold its beautiful up there a must visit
j. l.
New owners not like the old pie shop and the pubs are ok very expensive for just one pie
B. F.
Parking 10/10
Clean 10/10
Service 10/10
Food 10/10
Great for a day out.
Recommended highly must do.
M. C.
Great atmosphere. Delicious pies and pastries. A welcome stop along the journey.
J. H.
Went there on a Sunday, due to social distancing had to wait about 30mins. Their apple pie is simple but yummy. The savory pie is light & fresh. Worth the wait.
E. S.
Pie's are delish!!my personal favorite is the chili pie..if u love chilies like me then do try them you wont regret it😊!!this is a nice stop for a break while on a long drive along illawarra highway plus they have clean toilets which is very helpful when your travelling with toddlers and heaps of parking space.
D. B.
Simply the best pie shop in the Illawarra! Definitely try their curry beef pie!
D. D.
It has a good range of pies with good flavours. The price is a little high but the quality is there. The volcano chili is definitely not for sooky lalas as it has good zing and chili flavour. I would say 6/10 of spiciness. The beef beourignon had authentic flavour with big chunk of beef and onion that has really nice flavour.
V.
Average pies, nothing special but good for an afternoon bite. We had the curry beef and chicken and vegetable pie - needs more flavour/spices.
Be prepared for large crowds, though the line seemed to move slowly so didn't have to wait too long - we went on a mid afternoon on a weekend.
J. O.
Fantastic pies, I can totally see why this place is so popular!
F. 7.
Yum best tasting pies & unique flavours no wonder they have won so many awards, if your a Motorbike rider you will love the ride up Macquarie pass
F. B.
Nice small cafe, especially for travellers who can take a rest stop and enjoy the food. Recommended.
W. u. s.
Picked up some pies for takeaway whilst passing from the Treetops Walk, a traditional beef pie and an apple blackberry pie. The pastry for the beef pie is very different to what I've had, it's softer and papery compared to the hard and flaky crusts a pie usually has. It made it easy to bite and savour but the lack of crunch definitely dulled the experience. But I only have good things to say about the dessert pie, the interesting combination of fruits is perfect. The sweetness of the apple, the sour of the blackberry. It's a match made in heaven. Not to forget the crust, it's crumbly and biscuit exterior is the standout foundation for any pie and it does it here. Good on you, Robertson!
C. M. S.
I know this place is apparently famous for pies, but BUY THE LAMINGTONS! They are incredible, and I don't even like coconut. The cake is amazing on the inside.
D. S.
Super busy but the line moves quick. Good variety of pies
K. O.
Decided to go for a cruise in the effie stopped at the pie shop for lunch was very nice and would come back again cheers yumho
J. H.
Pies were tasty, like any commercial pie but not great. Coffee only comes in large which we were not told about. And not particularly good coffee either. Lots of parking, easy to get to. Lots of different pie choices both sweet and savoury.
D. O.
Great tasting pies with a reasonable range of flavours, a little on the pricy side for the size, however the pastry they are making there is gold standard. The desert pieces are also nice, though the pastry was not crispy like it probably should have been.
A. T.
Came here awhile back, this curry pie I had here honestly was the best pie in my life.
E. L.
Best pie I have ever eaten! Just couldn’t stop at one when I experienced the excellent pies at the award winning Robertson’s pie shop
M. R. A.
Believe it or not, you can get the best and most delicious pie of your life in this shop. I have been their customers for years, the variety of the pies, their high quality, the consistency of the recipe and taste, the attitude of the staff, are all number one.
Try all of them but if you have to pick, don't miss steak and kidney, and the amazing sour cherry ones.
a. b.
Always great food here. Recommended if you're passing by.
J. V.
Their pies are famous for a reason! This shop is is a great pitstop for those driving road trips or are passing through.
K. ..
Tried almost all item on the menu, very delicate and delightful to mouth
A. B.
Very tasty pies, lots of gourmet varieties
G.
Quality pies! Stopped by during a road trip, very busy place. Volcanic chilli was pretty much a normal life with buttloads of ground up chilli added in.
V. K. B.
This award winning pie shop has been on my radar for years! The pie was very nice and it made for a pleasant mid morning stop on a long journey!
G. C.
Best pies in the world! Light flakey pastry. Especially Camembert cheese chicken leek pie 🥧 wowza!
C.
Great pies, good coffee, good staff. BUT they neglected to say they only have one size coffee - large- with a double shot. What if you don’t want a large or strong coffee.
Prices a bit harsh at $6.60 for a std pie rather than the std price of 4.50 - 5.50.
J. B.
Loved my peach piece and cream, OMG it was so yummy
S. P.
Busiest shop, we can get tasty pies
A. N. C.
Its not famous for no reason. I had the apple cream pie...so good
A. H.
Best pie shop ever!! Could not stop eating the delicious pies and ended up having 4 pies each in an hour.
M. P.
Great food. Great service. Freindly staff. Reasonably priced.
A. J.
We had a high expectation of Robertson Pie Shop due to its award winning reputation and positive reviews. There was a long line when we arrived but it moved quickly and we were served within minutes. We were a party of ten and those of us that ordered the chunky beef were generally happy, but those that opted for the chicken, vegetarian or fruit pies were less than impressed. Overall the pies were good, but to be honest no better than others we have tried, so didn't quite live up to the reputation.
T. W.
Solid pies. Nothing special in terms of taste but a good selection and decent quality. Line moves quickly so don't be put off by that! The grassy area outside on the right of the shop is nice to sit and eat your pie!
M.
Passed by here for a quick snack and tried 2x savoury beef pies (beef, bacon and cheese & beef bourguignon) as I personally prefer beef pies in general over chicken pies. These were both delicious and felt very hearty to eat. Very satisfied with the pies, and did not feel bloated after eating them. I also purchased 1x dessert pie (caramel macadamia tart). I was afraid it would be overly sweet given there is a lot of filling compared to the pie pastry base, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was well-balanced and at a good level of sweetness.
Rationale for five stars - staff were incredibly friendly and patient. Pies are pretty cheap for a quick stopover snack.
H. C.
My favourite pie shop. I always leave feeling as if I'm a morbidly obese middle aged man because the pies are so tasty I cannot stop myself. Especially eerie when the mists descend.
D. D.
Had an apple pie with cream, soft but nice, would have preferred hot and crispy with ice-cream, but not on the menu which is confusing (small pies come under sweets) as apposed to large family pies?
L. S.
Nothing beats a,yatla pie
Or Apple pie over100 yr
Old same spot m1 qld
L. B.
always fresh, nice stop over after going up MacPass
E. G.
Fantastic pit stop for delicious pies on a road trip
D. &. T.
Always busy, fast service & great pies
E. C.
Excellent traditional meat pies. Get several small pies or sausage rolls so you can try a variety, and save room for a lemon tart.
O. G.
Pies were genuinely good and tasty. Wasn't sure what to expect when driving up to this place, but was pleasantly surprised by the pies. Sort of wish I'd bought more.
R. s.
Great pie's if you're in the neighbour you should drop by and sample the menu of pie's.
A. C.
Chicken and leek Camembert pie...you guys have to try it.😋😋😋
D'best.
j. g.
They are super expensive but they are just nice nothing very special but they are nice and hot.
L. W.
Yummy, I get hungry just thinking about this place. The pies are delicious and the sausage rolls are mouth watering. If you are hungry, you probably need 2 pies or sausage rolls to satiate you.
Also had the lamington and caramel slice mmm mmm
A. B.
A Southern Highlands Must See.
Pies, pastries, cookies and custard tarts sold by the thousands each weekend. Situated at the top of Macquarie pass and on the edge of the beautiful village of Robertson this is a thriving hub for bikers, tourists and weekend wanderers.
R. V.
A key stop on the Southern Highlands pie trail. The pastry is flaky and well cooked. The chicken, leek and Camembert was the standout. Truly delicious. The Beef, cheese and bacon was also excellent. Only the steak (mince) and onion was slightly underwhelming. Of the sweet pies on offer, the berry and cream pie was amazing. Given prices, slightly annoying that there is a separate charge for individual sauces, rather than having a free sauce station as others do. Nonetheless, should be close to the top of your list if looking to sample high quality pies.
B. W.
Fantastic pies and sausage rolls in a lovely part of NSW.
S. H.
Great pies! Loved the chicken and vege pie!
W. S.
It’s pie galore here! And the pies are very very good! There is a bunch of options to choose from, will definitely come back again to try their signature (ran out unfortunately)
It’s current 8 people in the store at a time, hand sanitize and scanning code required to get into the store
A. N.
Worth driving several hundred kilometres for almost the best pies anywhere.
F. R.
Great to see this iconic bakery back to its best. Expect big queues on the week end and holidays, plenty of passers by stop in for a pie, or a cake and coffee. The staff are super friendly as well.
T. L.
Good quality pie with tasty pastry and filling. Only downside is that it's a bit pricey.
J. O.
The best pies in nsw by far and the friendly staff are more than willing to help out. It's the best way to top off an awesome run up the pass. Thank you all and I'll be definitely coming back
S. S.
decent feed after driving for few hours!
S. V.
Well worth a visit. Best pies ever. Chicken Leek and Camembert absolutely the best, especially when eaten warm. Beef and mushroom are fantastic. We Enjoyed well.
R.
Pies are perhaps much better than they were let's say five years ago. One downside however is the amount of salt the pies contain: I was left reaching for the water regularly on the drive home after leaving.
D. H.
Great selection. Super tasty crust. I especially loved the volcanic chilli pie.
S. T.
Great pies and plenty of parking. Just outside Robertson town
S. S.
Didn't have anything but only stopped over to regroup and stretch our legs. Ample parking on both sides of the road. Be careful of traffic when pulling out. Great location for a stop to eat and recharge both drivers and passengers.
J. W.
The chicken leek & camembert pie is really nice. We also tried the portuguese tart which is also very nice.
It is easier to access to parking if you approach the shop from the West as the shop is located at the North side of Illawarra Highway. And parking can be problematic during lunch time, especially when there was a tour bus blocking several car spaces. I reckon there should be a marked dedicated bus bays separate from the cars and the bikes. Unmarked parking space making people park their vehicles as they likes, and it is not the best way of utilising the space.
Having said all that, we will definitely always go back to the shop as the foods are excellent!!
J. B.
Best Pies I've had since moving down to the South Coast
H. S.
We had Pies & coffees on the way back from Carrington Falls. Pies are so delicious! The place is so busy on public holiday, but it's worth to try!
N. K.
One of the best pie. Don’t miss out if you pass through.
d.
Stopping for pies on a road trip is a must. This place is conveniently placed if you are going from Bowral to the coast and back up to Sydney or vice versa. Got there near closing so pie selection was limited. Had the plain beef and portuguese tarts. They were OK. There are better pie shops around Kangaroo Valley area.
M. D.
A big pie shop in a small town. Pies were ok, but very pricey
H. L.
Yep, they are famous for a reason. Pies here are delicious!! My fav would be the Beef Bourguignon and Chicken, Leek & Camembert. The line moves pretty quickly and easy to park.
A. T.
I can't say I've ever have had a bad pie from this place... if your in the area, definitely worth stopping past and grabbing a pie - you won't regret it! Unless your like me and make the mistake of eating 4 pies in the space of 15 mins, then you might have some regrets, but defiantly not about your choice of pieshop... 🤣
D. N.
Due to covid we dined outside, was great food
N. E.
The quality of the pastries was quite good. Social distancing and COVID compliance also was well handled with cooperation of staff and customers. Seating outside under the trees is lovely for families. The only minor point was the overflowing rubbish bins caused by a large number of clientele and overworked staff. Nice stop off when on the way to the coast.
G. O.
Just spent almost $200 on pies and sitting under the blossoms trees behind the shop with family to wolf down the hot ones. The frozen ones will go to friends and neighbours back in Sydney.
This is the only place that does Gluten-free pies (I did phone almost all pie shops in the area) and also they do every pie to (almost) perfection!
The girls working here are ever so friendly and very well organised. They brought out my reserved GF ones as soon as I mentioned, double checked my sizeable order and even offered to carry my pies to the car for me!
Definitely worth the diversion. Love it! Wish the pies are available to post.
R. S.
Variety of sweet and savoury pies, and some are really good. They also have frozen party pies you can take home to cook.
L. T.
Hands down the BEST pepper beef pie I have ever had, and I've had a few. Stopped by on the way to Wollongong, had to stop again on the way back for another.
R. M.
These pies just walk out the door, very good food here, however the pies are brilliant and
have been for many years. Well worth the drive.
R. S.
Great selection of delicious gourmet pies! Definitely lives up to its fame! A must try. I personally liked the savoury pies more, but the dessert pies such as the peach pie with creme is also very nice!
I. I.
Unfortunately had run out of gluten free pies! Tried a normal steak and mushroom which was quite tasty, good amount of mushrooms and steak!
T.
Well worth a visit!
The pepper steak pie I had was a bit too peppery for me. I should have tried something else.
The family sized dessert pie we picked up however, was sensational!
C. “. C.
Beef bourguignon and cherry pie were amazing
N.
Not a bad pie reputable place
P. M.
It is actually the best. Had veggie pie, spinach feta roll and apple pie. Best I ever had. Packed a second round for dinner. Will definitely stop by here whenever I am around Robertson.
V.
Pies are basic and need some new recipes to enhance flavours. What about spinach mushroom goatcheese or butter chicken?
Friendly staff, outdated place. Better food in town
Owner says doing good - as long as people are loving it - thats great 👍
C. M.
Good variety of delicious pies
T. J.
Best pies - great selection of savoury and sweet pies. Great selection of pastries too. And the Lolly section has all your favourite lollies too.
My only criticism is their coffee sucks, but I still rated 5 stars because it's a pie shop after all, not a coffee shop.
T. L.
So many different pies to choose from, I wish I could fit more in. They have sweet and savoury pies, different sizes (normal and family size), all freshly baked. I had a cherry pie with cream and it was tasty as. Friendly service and a nice little picnic area outside.
J. O.
Delicious pies and sausage rolls. Huge variety of baked goods. Good covid safety in place. Be prepared to wait, but it's very worth it!
A. C.
Fast service for good pies.
As the covid restrictions eased, a small group of us decided to venture to Budderoo National Park for a good ol hike. The weather was nice, the company was excited and we were all geared up.
Luckily for us Robertson's Pie Shop was on the way which helped motivate our aging legs to power through the muddy uneven terrain.
The great thing about Robertson's Pie shop is its corner location. Easy to spot and easy to park. Being lunch time and not another food shop nearby, the line to order pies was long. Surprisingly we didn't have to wait long, and the service was speedy.
It was our turn to order. '1 mushroom and beef pie, 1 chilli pie, 1 curry pie, 1 apple pie and 1 large apple pie to go please'. The order was for two small individuals. Although we are small in stature, we have big apetites.
The pies were delicious. You can tell they were made from quality ingredients that have satisfied customers for a very long time. Our favourite from the bunch was the very hearty beef and mushroom pie, closely followed by the slightly tangy, not too sweet apple pie.
Recommended for hungry people finishing up a nice hike or just passing through.
J. T.
Recommend the beef bourginion and the chicken leek camembert.
M. V. d. L.
Delicious curry pie. Great on the coldest day of this year so far! Coffee not that great but ok.

Nice pies but honestly they are nothing special. They taste the same as any run of the mill bakery on the street. In fact ones I've had in Caringbah were as good if not better than these. If your in town stop in and get one but I wouldn't drive all the way from Sydney for one. They are also a bit on the expensive side.
J. H.
Great place to stop for a meal on the road. The selection of pies is fantastic and all four of us loved the pies we chose. There is a great choice of baked sweets to, we had the custard tart and rocky road, but everything looked delicious. The coffees were a bit average, but on the whole this place is great and we will definitely go back.
C. W.
Have eaten the meat pies here on average 4 times a year, pretty consistent, had the pastie yesterday very ordinary, disappointed pastry was basic, ingredients lacking volume, have experienced a much nicer pastie at the bakery in the township of Robertson. Come on Robo pie shop you guys can do better! You've got a great atmosphere for us motorcyclists a bit more attention to detail and passion for your product would be a step in the right direction.
M. T.
Service was good, pie was very tasty. However I didn't appreciate eating the pie off the paper bag. If you are wanting to eat in the shop make sure you take your own plate. They supply plastic knives and forks but you are expected to eat your food off the paper bag. For the price you pay for the pie surely a paper plate could be included in the price.
C. W.
2015 pie making champion situated just outside the town centre. All sorts of pies including savory and sweet plus sausage rolls. Eat in or takeaway with good Parking out front
I regard to their meat pie, although good, I must admit I have tasted better✅
K. B.
Got there late so no gluten free pies left. Excellent client caramel tarts and the lemon lime gf tart was a winner.
M.
Great fresh pies - what more could you ask for from a Pie Shop?
K. C.
Random lite stop after swimming in the national Park. So glad we did, busy pie shop but the staff were friendly and the pies were delicious. We got a savoury and sweet pie. Very fresh and just really tasty. Would recommend if you're in and around the area
N. B.
Staff were friendly and patient, even though we came in about ten minutes before closing. Pies were so delicious! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!
C. J.
Great pies, both savory and sweet. They always have plenty of staff there, so even when it gets busy (and boy does it), you are never waiting too long. Plenty of seating inside, also some nice benches outside if the weather is good. Nicely located at the top of Macquarie Pass.
M. C.
Pricey ordinary pie's but it's hard to find a great pie for a fair price, coffee was great though and cakes are OK it's busy on the weekend
O.
Tasty, fresh and lots of variety. Almost willing to bet they'll have a pie you haven't tried before. Enjoyed the volcano pie. attentive, friendly and polite service. easy parking.
D. R.
Great pies! Worth a visit even if the dining experience is very basic. Tables, chairs, plastic cutlery... There is a small outdoor area which is more pleasant, but is really best to take their top class pies to one of the many nearby parks or picnic areas.
S. P.
I reckon this place is known of, and visited by just about everyone in the Southern Highlands as well as half of Sydney...and most days it feels like it around midday.
It's hugely popular for anyone that drives or rides up and or down the twisty Macquarie pass. You'll always find a couple of motorcycles in the carpark, and a lot more of these nice people there on a beautiful Autumn weekend.
When it gets right down to it, it's the food at RPS, that brings the crowds, and don't just think "pie and sauce". While that might be a staple, there is so many more flavours and fillings available. I love the cheese and bacon pie personally. There are sausage rolls, pasties and then there's pastries and cakes as with as the desert pie range available.
Top it off with a good flavoured coffee or well made milkshake, and your meal is complete. That said, you don't have to leave empty handed.
Taking home a cold big apple pie to be heated up at home for desert the day, and served with ice cream or custard, has to go on your wish list if your driving a car. It's not as easy if your on a bike though!😉
H. M.
This pie shop is a must-visit on the way through the Southern Highlands. The meat pies are fresh, tasty and homemade, and the dessert pies are the same! Their lolly section is pretty good too and there is abundant seating. The prices are reasonable, and it is in an easy-to-see good location. The trading hour are a little shorter than I hoped but overall this is a great shop to visit.
E. J.
Potato pies are on point. The quality of everything isn't what it used to be before the new ownership but it's still the best place to grab pies and pastries during the weekend when other bakeries such as Southern Rise Bakery in Robertson are closed.
Staff seem pretty dense and not overly enthusiastic, but they're also quite young so props to them for having the motivation to work in such a remote location.
Always a ton of people here, so expect to wait in line and either scramble for a table or eat in your car.
N. B.
Had the pleasure today stopping at this pie shop we were not disappointed in any way fast service very clean including the toilets parking was easy,
Yes the pies are a little costly but they were very tasty and hot
We also had dessert as well best Apple pies I have had in a very long time
Staff very friendly and pleasant to deal with. This place is nothing flash but has the best pies we will be returning 😁
L. P.
I hope that this place never changes. My Dad and I would always stop in for a pie when I was growing up after spending the day riding his motorbike. Now I get to bring my daughter here. Getting a bag of lollies is the highlight of her visit here. The food never fails to please, always fresh, always prefect. This place is famous for all the right reasons.
D. d. S.
I wasn't overly impressed. The pies were expensive and there was no real atmosphere. The whole place needs an aesthetic overhaul. Overall, this place is not worthy of being 'famous'. The pies did taste good but there are far better pie shops around.
J. G.
Great for a Sunday stop over! Thank god you have changed your pie pastry.. no more soggy bottom's!
C. C.
Nothing to say, it's Robertson pie shop, the name speaks for itself,👍👍👍👍👍
L. W.
Top notch pies (both sweet and savoury). Well worth the drive. Nice little old school feel cafe. Other options available include slices, muffins and lollies. The wild berry with cream pie is hard to beat.
R. B.
This shop having fresh bakery products which is mouth watering. This store is very happening when you need the break in your journey.
A. H.
Casual place to grab a pie. Reasonably priced. Lots of options. My personal favorite is the chicken, leek and camembert pie.
S.
Omg...the best beef pie I ever had in my whole life so far...!! I wish they open more outlets throughout Sydney.
J. H.
After driving nearly 3000km throughout NSW and trying out a variety of pie shops I can say this is hands-down the best pie shop in the state. Genuinely friendly staff and great coffee too!
A. H.
Pastry was amazing and everything was yum. Would have loved another vegetarian pie option but no shortage of options for the carnivores and great bakery sweets.
B. B.
The pies here are very nice, we all ate both a pie & sausage roll. Yummy.
L. B.
Do not drive past this place without stopping. The staff were great and the pies and sausage rolls were very nice
A. J.
Obviously the place to be … as long as you can figure out where that is. The Robertson Pie Shop seems to be in the middle of nowhere, but somehow there's a heap of people who manage to find it. There's an impressive range of pies and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The park next door to the shop has some delightful photo opportunities … especially on a cold mossy day.
E. S.
Decent pies after a hike in budderoo national park. Slightly overpriced.
L. M.
Fantastic pies. Some of the best in the area. Worth the drive. Staff their are friendly and knowledgeable about the pies in question. Especially which ones are gluten free.
K. M.
Great pies and very good service.
L. F.
The pies are lovely, the young staff are friendly.
But the so called covid marshall (older, miserable man) complained that I signed in manually instead of using the QR code app. He stated it is more work for them!
They were monitoring the amount of customers in the shop HOWEVER no one else other than my daughter and I were wearing masks and in fact that was the official start date for wearing masks.
I asked a staff member about wearing masks and she said she only found out about the masks when she arrived for her shift.
I have a older phone and so far none of the QR apps work on my phone and signing in manually is still accepted so train your 'covid marshall' in what is accepted for signing in and also on customer care ....otherwise let him work in the back of the shop as he has 0 clue on how to speak to customers!
B. H.
Was recommended to try these pies with the family but was disappointed, simple and plain tasting, high prices. Sorry but was not impressed. Staff were friendly and efficient.
L. P.
Their cherry pies are the best I've ever tasted. They're jam packed with fresh cherries and the slightly tart filling is perfectly balanced by the buttery sweet crust. Combined with beef and mushroom or beef and pepper pie, makes for the best comfort food eating you could ask for!
Keep up the great work Robbo Pie Shop 👏👏👏
E. S.
One of the besties, tried several pies, best ones mushroom and steak, beaf and mushroom, beef bacon and cheese, and among sweet ones: make sure you try wild berry and apple and half apple with cream😊
A. B.
Amazing pies!! Quick & very friendly & professional service. The young girl who served us was very lovely & sweet!! Compliments to her great service!! Pies were so good we even bought a whole bunch of cold ones to take home! Will definitely go back & recomend to anyone who loves pies!
A. D.
A fair drive from the centre of Sydney but well worth it! I came out here with my partner on her recommendation and tried a few different pies.
The Cherry pie was by far my favourite and would definitely make the trip back out here to have it again and try other items on their menu.
There was plenty of staff on so service was quick and it looked like they were constantly baking through the day so everything served was fresh.
R.
I’ve been here so many times. The beef bourguignon pie is next level and the best pie I’ve had in Australia. A lovely slice of Australian goodness! In a great location.
N. K.
Yummy pies! There is a wide selection of savoury and sweet pies. You can also get large ones to take home or the smaller ones.
F. S.
We haven't tried many pies in OZ but this pie was by far our best! The redwine and beef was fantastic. The staff was super friendly. I can highly recommend to eat here if you drive through!
R. S.
BOI THIS IS THE BEST MEAT PIE I EVER TASTED!
They are so delicious! Pared with a slightly excessive amount of tomato sauce these things are the greatest in the world!
And perfect temperature too! Like you know that horrible feeling when you bite into a meat pie and it's feels like the meat is producing self sustaining nuclear fusion that just burns your mouth off! Or what about a meat pie that's so cold that Norwegians got frostbite. Well not at all with these amazing pies! Could eat one after another after another!
I want more...
B. W.
I have always wanted to go back here since my last visit 15 years ago and the other day I made the trip. 2 hours drive and totally worth it. I had a beef, bacon and cheese pie, a peach pie with cream. Both great and just as good as I remember.
If you love pies, just go there. Its also a beautiful place.
L. N.
What a selection of sweet and savoury pies!!! Delicious! Lovely friendly staff and clean premises. We all had to indulge in 2 each!
S. P.
People pies and old friends... then skedaddle down Macq pass. Hey if someone is listening het the trucks off the pass. Picton crossover was made for trucks.
A. E.
I was travelling through Robertson visiting some friends and the kids were hungry for lunch. Not knowing the area we came across this pie shop. I've always been told to try country pie shops. It did not disappoint. The menu was huge and a wall filled with awards... I mean a lot of awards. I had a Volcanic Chilli Pie, then I couldn't help myself... I had a Curry Pie. Delicious. If you ever pass through Robertson, have a pie.
B. G.
very quaint pie shop, great place for a stopover if you're going around for a nice drive. The chicken, Camembert and leek pie is heavenly and a must-try if you're a cheese lover. also really liked the Portuguese custard tarts. they also sell various pieces of framed art.
M. F.
Classic motorbike meet spot to relax after a long ride from Sydney.
Yet to find a better pie in NSW. Consistently fresh, delicious and fast. The dessert pies are great too!
Pies are around $5-6 each so expect to pay $10 for a pie and a drink.
If you enjoyed your first visit, be sure to come back and try something else next time - there is so much variety here!
C. B.
It's more about the journey than the pie. Driving up the pass to get to the top and have a victory pie!
The fruit pies are the most worth while. With cream of course. Cherry and peach are my favourites.
The meat pies used to be better, but they're definitely not horrendous. Beef, bacon and cheese is the way to go.
C. N.
Nice pies . Coffee needs work.
J. P.
Super busy, but you will not wait long. Pies where good and definitely a good casual lunch stop, and it's nice watching all the bikes and cars cruise by on the weekend. Definitely worth a visit. Toilets could have been cleaner and more bins would have helped. Would go again.
L. Y.
I am not really into pie but the pie from this pie shop is incredible! I took some back to share with my friends and they just love it
J. C.
Nice pie and sausage roll shop with a old fashion style. Seating is a little dirty and food can be a tad pricy, however tasty. The best thing about the place is the drive to the shop, not much around besides that.
D. P.
The cherry pies at Robertson Pie Shop really are worth travelling for. You must stop by if you're in the area. I haven't tried as many of the savoury pies but they are also very good. A better atmosphere and possibly table service would earn this place five stars.
A. H.
It was Sunday lunch. There were dozens of motorcycles and many more cars parked outside. I expected long queues because of the number of patrons.
I was pleasantly surprised on entering the shop to find a long counter with a large number of staff members. There was no queue and I was served immediately.
The steak and mushroom pie was one of the best pies I've experienced - on par with the excellent Buladelah Bakery pies.
Even though there were tables inside and out, we ate our pies from a paper bag. I would increase my star rating from 4 to 5 if they supplied plates and cutlery.
Overall a good experience, and somewhere we would definitely return to if we were passing through or near to Robertson.
s. P.
Most incredible food I've ever had. I ALWAYS purchase two plain family pies when I'm about leave. The pies and sausage rolls are to die for and the customer service is next to none 👍
Y. K.
Fairly decent pies, an absolute institution of Robertson. Stop by and pick up a few. An essential example of old school Australiana
T. C.
A bit overpriced but the food is worth it I reckon! Really enjoyed our pies and the drive there is always worth it.
K. D.
Succulent beef pies. Great location. Plenty of parking. Best part of cruising up Macquarie pass.
K. H.
They're so good I ate 3 in one sitting. The volcano chilly was most memorable and definitely worth the money after a good drive through the southern highlands.
L. L.
Delicious award-winning chicken, leek & camembert pie!! We enjoyed the lemon tart as well~ Lovely staff! Very busy but no queue! Wanna go there every weekend, just for the pies!
J. W.
An institution of the faithful Sunday Drive. Have been eating here before since I remember and I’ll take my kids here too. Hard to go wrong, cherry with cream always a winner. The family meat pies great for dinner.
P. K.
This is a regular stop on motorcycle rides up the Macquarie Pass. It is always cool on top, so it's a great summer destination, and the pies are excellent. I esp like the Beef Bourguignon, and they don't laugh at my attempts to pronounce it. Any pie with camambert in it has to be good in my opinion, so I've had plenty of their Chicken, Leek and Camembert. The steak and kidney is always good, but sometimes you get lots of kidney, sometimes not so much. Staff is friendly. I'm a water drinker so can't comment on the coffee. Recently returned with my wife. She ordered the gluten free meat pie. I wouldn't recommend that item but enjoy everything else.
L. S.
Coffee was mediocre, pies are ok for a so called famous pieshop. Being popular they need to account for more dietary ie vegan. Now with management change, change your scope of attack.
The common word is its worse, there is only a length of time you can ride that "famous" band wagon before people know it otherwise.
G. B.
My Experiences at Robertson Pie Shop are:
*They are nice but overpriced and overrated
*too busy with bikers
M. W.
Best gluten free pie I've ever had! Pastry was so flaky & the meat filling was a nice balance of gravy & small chunks of meat. Lovely customer service, thanks!
H. K.
Lots of space for all, pies are ok, place could be a bit more clean.
h. s.
average service and pies.
D. d. S.
I wasn't overly impressed. The pies were expensive and there was no real atmosphere. The whole place needs an aesthetic overhaul. Overall, this place is not worthy of being 'famous'. The pies did taste good but there are far better pie shops around.
N. K.
Yummy pies! There is a wide selection of savoury and sweet pies. You can also get large ones to take home or the smaller ones.
B. H.
Was recommended to try these pies with the family but was disappointed, simple and plain tasting, high prices. Sorry but was not impressed. Staff were friendly and efficient.
L. P.
I hope that this place never changes. My Dad and I would always stop in for a pie when I was growing up after spending the day riding his motorbike. Now I get to bring my daughter here. Getting a bag of lollies is the highlight of her visit …

One of the best pie place!
L. M.
Fantastic pies. Some of the best in the area. Worth the drive. Staff their are friendly and knowledgeable about the pies in question. Especially which ones are gluten free.
L. N.
What a selection of sweet and savoury pies!!! Delicious! Lovely friendly staff and clean premises. We all had to indulge in 2 each!
M. J.
Pies are really good here not the cheap servo pies and the drive down from Sydney the back way is so good
F. v. d. M.
Yummm, the pies overhere are delicious! Loved the cherry pie! The owners are soooooooo nice <3
Can't wait to come back and have some more pie!
+ Very nice that there was a high chair for my little daughter.

r. m.
Great pies and cakes.
G. P.
Great place to stop ,good food and coffee
B. L.
Great pies. My wife and I had the chicken curry pie, our daughter had beef and mushroom pie and my 10 year son had two meat pies. Nice pastry.
J. H.
The savoury and sweet pies are all great! I really like the steak and kidney pie, and the peach pie.
S. B.
One of my favourite pie shops. Oh, and sausage rolls are awesome.
J. S.
The reputation lives on.
Some absolutely delicious pies - of various flavors and awesome sweet treats to get the mouth watering.
M. C.
Best pie I've ever had. This shop must have changed recently based on some of the reviews here. They have about 15 different pies now and I saw about 12 staff.
Awesome pie and great service!
J. V.
Great coffee
Great pies
Great atmosphere
Like pie in the sky except down south
M. J.
Pies are really good here not the cheap servo pies and the drive down from Sydney the back way is so good
R.
If you love going for drives and eating pies you must try this place. The twisty roads on the way up the moutain is so refreshing and the turns are exciting if you have a high powered car or bike.
Once you get to the pie shop they have so much variety in there pies you will certainly find something that will make you lick your lips.
Nice outdoor seating or indoor is abit cheap but ok. Can get very cold in the winter so bring a jumper otherwise plesant and quiet most times.
A big meeting spot for motorcycles.
E. 3.
Iconic spot on-top of Macquarie Pass renowned for its gourmet pies and desserts, great place to stop for a bite to eat, stretch the legs or a cup of coffee. Large carpark with outside picnic tables as well as uncover outdoor area. Premises is always clean and Restrooms are well maintained and inside
T. H. C.
Very good pies, I cannot decide between the mince beef or the apple pie so I had both.
B. L.
The Famous Robertson Pie Shop sells a broad range of pies, small heated ones as well as large family pies and small ones to take home and heat. A range of cakes tarts and slices, coffee and confectionery. Very popular stop for motorcyclists at the top of Macquarie Pass.
M. G.
Good pies. Very busy, but the service was good and friendly!
F. H.
LOVE the cherry cream pie. I'm always coming back for it. Although staff - perhaps because they were young and new ones there, were quite dry and impatient for the huge order we made.
A.
I've been back here about 10 times in the past year vbecause they are just so good. If you're in the area, have a spin up Macquarie pass and grab a delish pie.
t. k.
Pretty much the only cafe in the surrounding suburbs. Fantastic pies and lovely service! Would go more often if I was a local. Definitely worth the drive down as it's very scenic and the food won't disappoint.
K. L.
Nice tasting pies. Did take awhile to have everything sorted service wise.
T. D.
Awesome pies and great service ..Sweets are beautiful too..👍
B. W.
Always busy and always a good place to stop at
D. R.
Really nice pies in an iconic location. Good service too.
A. M.
Chicken, leek and camembert pie was to die for. The classic curry, sensational. Highly recommend this fine pie establishment.
P. S.
doesn't stand out from the masses anymore, they really need a face-lift the amount of cash they must bring in they could at least change the colored bulbs out the front.
pies are nice, coffee is fair, staff were beautys i thought it was a little over priced but then its one of them tourist stops
could be more stars but the place is showing its age
M. R.
They used to make a spinish and ricotta pastry that was the best I've had in the whole country. They got rid of it and replaced it with a spinish and fet triangle which is terrible. When you're on a good thing, stick to it!
s. e.
Best pies and cakes in town
M. B.
Good pies, sausage rolls, and pastries. Bit pricey though
H. K.
Lots of space for all, pies are ok, place could be a bit more clean.
A. J. W.
We stopped here for lunch and their name is game. Best pies we had in Oz. They are delicious and there are an aweful lot to choose from!
E. S.
I had the cherry, apple and bacon, cheese & mushroom pies. They were all fantastic. Pastry was perfect and the fillings tasty. I highly recommend them.
R. R.
Best pies!!!! Plenty of varieties. Old fashioned shop. Off street parking. Very popular. Dine inside or outside. People drive out of their way to eat here.
R. O.
Very friendly staff. Pies are great and reasonably priced for their size. Pies are also hot :)
N. P.
Fantastic pies and food there was at least 100 people lining up to bye the food excellent pies worth the drive.
M. O.
The pies and sausage rolls are good, not the best I've had. The rocky road however is spectacular!!!
K. F.
Service was poor, but we arrived when they were getting ready to close. Amazing pies & good prices, would highly recommend. They also do a good hot chocolate
l. s.
Pies are great and very friendly staff and great atmosphere even for the family
S. Y.
Friendly staff, great coffee and an amazing variety of scrumptious pies and sausage rolls. Ideally located at the top of Macquarie pass, a sensational twisties piece of road to test the skills and adreneline levels of any motorcycle enthusiast. Well worth the ride.
C. L.
Worth the drive to Robertson. Pies are nice and fresh with a real home cooked feel. Always end up taking a few dessert Pies home for later

S. B.
Charge more but please give plates and cutlery...quality of pies is good tho they were out of all 3 flavours I would have preferred....staff at counter , extremely nice...
H. K.
Not a bad drive if your looking for something different for a change, The pies taste like any other ordinary pie, your just paying more for location.
G. D.
I loved the steak and I wanted to try the chicken and veggie pie but they were out of stock. So that is moral you have to come quickly so you get yummier food.
<3
W. B.
I rated the pie, bacon cheese, 6.5 out of 10.
Berry cream 6 out of 10
D. W.
Place reminded me of an old school diner
The dining area was tidy and if you're a chilli lover the volcano chilli pie is a must.
Also had the cheese bacon beef pie. Thumbs up
L. G.
A busy pie shop full of locals and travellers. Heaps of indoor and outdoor seating. Bathrooms available. Good pie selection. They charge for sauce though...
I. W.
Great pies, lovely flaky pastry. But avoid the coffee.

I’ve tried supermarket pies that tasted better.
R. V.
Friendly staff, always have pies (compared to that "world's best pie shop") and their pies are tasty
J. N.
