Was here for a work Christmas party. Nice area on the rooftop. Food and drinks were good and option to order from your table by QR code is handy. Disappointed that we were kicked out at 11pm and told we couldn't move downstairs despite being a group of 50 for the majority of the night and spending good money since 7pm. Didn't really leave us feeling very valued. Led downstairs and straight out a door on to the street. Others were being let in downstairs but we had to leave. Seems a bit odd, so we took our business to a pub up the street. Other than that, was a good night and staff were attentive.

Came to Strawberry Hills Hotel for one of our work social events. Great host and service provided. We were located on the top floor with a portion of the area allocated for us. The ambience and vibe was great, and the DJ was playing good music. We got a number of their catering options - the food was absolutely amazing! Very flavourful, tasted fresh and was served hot! Would definitely recommend it as a great option for companies and teams to consider for work events!

Booked a table for a Christmas work drinks 3-5pm. Absolutely ideal for that. Staff were great, friendly and also responsive when I was booking it and helped me out changing the booking etc. The bar is right next to central station, drinks were high quality, vibe was cool, moderately busy, just right, overall, a great place.

Been to the Strawberry Hills on many occasions but only found out today how good their burgers are!!! In a group of 9 and 7 of us were raving about the wagu, chicken and vegetarian burgers...truly outstanding. Staff were excellent and attentive and they have an excellent choice of craft beer...highly recommend!!!

Kindly our reservation was held for us during the busy lunch hours. My Grilled Barramundi was slightly overcooked to the point where I could distinguish the taste of Extra Virgin Olive Oil which wasn't very pleasant due to its potency. The garden salad was fresh and generously dressed with balsamic. Sadly the chips were average thick cut chips and I was hoping for shoestring fries as most pubs have them in stock. A friend had a vegetarian pizza that smelt and looked appetising. Another had a lamb shoulder which was beautifully cooked & tender. Didn't really need the mint jus that came with it. The potatoes were roasted perfectly. Another friend had a snapper special that was intricately presented though the portion was very small. Another friend had a beetroot salad which was decent. Nevertheless a great atmosphere, I believe they do some screenings as there is a projector screen on a brick wall in the upper outdoor area.

Stayed the night at the Shakespeare Hotel up the road and caught up with some fellow "Reschs Appreciation Society" lads over a nice cool delicious Reschs! Max behind the bar, polite and courteous, took my back up to the third level accommodation. We had dinner, mine being the Rump shouted by 'Buck' James McFarlain one of the RAS lads! Also met Xaiver (a family member who owns the pubs) who was a delight and eventually directed me for the 'kick-on' down to their sister pub the Strawberry Hills. On entering the Strawberry Hills, I met Polly who showed me around and introduced me to the locals, even a top chap who was their bouncer, a fellow Kiwi who schooled in Kelston Boys High, Auckland. Steak sandwich is great, when the steak is thick enough. We ordered 4 steak sandwiches, only one of which has thick steak that is around 1.5 - 2 cm of perfect medium rare texture, while the other 3 have much thinner and therefore overcooked steaks. Worth 5 star if more consistency is guaranteed

Been here many times over the years and remember it before the renovations as very dusty and unloved. Since the stunning Rooftop renovations that opened it up to the elements it really went up a notch or two. Now the place is super clean, great food menu with a few amazing salads along with all the usual pub grub like Schnitzel, fish and chips, tacos and burgers. Very reasonable prices for food and drinks. The downstairs is great at night or for a cosy get together or winter time catch up. Staff all were friendly with smiles.

Very pretty bar. Barman was a bit odd about the end of happy hour... We ordered with 4 minutes to spare, but he denied it, saying "the computer switches automatically". Didn't fix it - although all the phones (including his) still showed prior to 6pm.

If you can grab a table in the upstairs seating section, it's a really nice vibe. They have a delicious steak sandwich and beef burger. The squid salad is too spicy for me, but I'm soft on that front. Tandoori pizza was okay, could have had a stronger tandoori flavour. The chefs were really accommodating for one of our group with a lot of allergies, so thank you!

Nice place to chill for a few drinks. I ordered the GF options and confirmed with the lady behind the counter it was GF she said yes and I wouldn't recommend if you have bad allergies because I got poisoned. Note to the restaurant, please train your staff re the GF and allergy list, it might not kill me but someone with a more severe allergy would have been very sick. Lovely atmosphere though and would go back again, just not to eat.

This is the local for most of us who work at Opera Australia just up the road. Don't get me wrong this is still a working man's pub but that's what we love it as it is so cheap and cheerful. Downstairs retains this old decor while upstairs there is a great open terrace. The beers and drinks are a good price and so is the pub grub. Pretty standard pub fare, but rather yummy none the less. The food in the SH hotel is one of the best places for pub food. They also have a rooftop dining area on the 2nd level which is awesome on a sunny day. I really like the courtyard located upstairs in this bar, the downstairs is a bit rougher and not really my scene. The food is really good, the staff are friendly, although you can wait a while at the bar at times. I've had a couple of leaving drinks here and the staff were really helpful, and the courtyard is perfect for group drinks. One complaint is that the wine list could be improved.

Strawberry has always been a great pub, great food and a great rooftop bar Yesterday, my friends and I had an above-and-beyond experience that should be commended. We arrived mid afternoon and the rooftop was rather empty, we were a group of 8, and chose a large table. After about an hour or so the bar manager approached us to apologise that there had been a mix up, and although their were no signs our table was actually reserved, by now the pub had filled up. The manager (Cara Black), politely asked a few smaller groups to move around so that everyone, including our large group could still be placed somewhere. She then gave us a bottle of champas to apologise for the inconvenience. We could tell it was a misunderstanding, and she went above and beyond, in a very friendly manor to ensure no ones afternoon was inconvenienced. Thanks guys!

Friday nights generally go off. So packed, but a varied and fun crowd. Not enough seating. Really convenient location. Close to Central station. Fun music, but pretty loud, so better for a night out with mates rather than a date situation.

A pub with a nice atmosphere that has many things to offer. It shows various sporting events on Foxtel eg UFC, has pool tables and pokies. Friday and Saturday nights are generally quite busy and their opening hours allow for a good choice when other pubs are shut or the lockout laws do not allow entry. With great happy hour deals Monday - Friday beer and wine only $4.50 and spirits $5 and their bistro with well priced pub meals, Strawberry Hills Hotel is a good choice day or night.

If you are in Surry and looking for a relaxed atmosphere head upstairs to the Strawberry Hills rooftop/outdoor bar area. It's the perfect balance between pub and something a little more. Good quality pub food. It can be hard to get a spot if you come later on in the arvo as the sun is setting and people start getting that hungry feeling. So if you get a spot sit down and get comfy :)

I needed a place for a quick but decent lunch following a Belvoir Street play and remembered having a fun night at the Strawberry Hills Hotel about ten years prior. Looked them up online and the menu seemed AOK - just what we needed - not a 5 star marvel for me to rave about on my blog but something for a quick bite with family and a friend. I was surprised at how awesome the venue was. The upstairs was fantastic - a massive outdoor covered section, a large bar and some brewery equipment around the place. I already liked it. It was a very hot day and while fanning myself with the menu something marvellous happened - the venue turned on a mister - the entire outdoor section filled with cool water mist. I did put the camera away and just enjoyed the cool down - reminded me of this time about 15yrs ago on a dance floor in Queenstown - can't remember the place but it was the middle of winter and we were all dancing and it was hot and sweaty - next thing you know - someone behind the bar presses a button and the entire roof of the nightclub opened - the best thing was that it was snowing - all the steam and heat went out and we dance in snowfall for about 15mins before they closed the roof and the venue steamed up even more haha. But back to Strawberry Hills Hotel - it was a treat. We all enjoyed our food. Mum slayed her calamari, friend Gary devoured his burger and me and the step father destroyed a pizza each. I went the Chilli Prawn Pizza and while it was nice the pizza was more a triple mozzarella cheese with the odd prawn here and there. It could have done with half the cheese and more prawns but as a cheese porn lover I was in heaven doing cheese pulls and lapping up the cheese like the dog I am. It's not fine dining but it is definitely near the top for decent pub food.

I have a huge soft spot for The Strawbo. Some of the best pub grub in the inner city! And the most reasonably priced. Doesn't matter if you are getting a burger or salad or the fall-of-the-bone lamb shanks, you will not be disappointed. Skip the public bar altogether (it's all high vis and bar flies!) and go straight upstairs. Grab a table outside if you can.

good place to watch a game of footy/soccer on the television. place is full of activity on a saturday night. upstairs seems like a good place for a feed with a $15 veal schnitty w/ chips. i stayed downstairs most of the time filling up on their tap cider. their pomegranate mojito was very nice and tasted better than the regular mojito but another bar person made it so hard to judge accurately. too bad we realised after that the schnitzels don't come out after 10pm, after that time only pizza's are served ($20 bit of a rip) but ah well a nice place to have a drink and feast.
