Comments of Thanon Khaosan
J.
Excellent Thai restaurant.
Very authentic, staff was friendly, food was so tasty. Great price and they got a little dessert bar outside too if you want to bring desserts home. I would love to get some mango sticky rice but I was too full. Maybe next time. Definitely I will come back again.
J. K.
My favourite Thai restaurant that serves authentic Thai food. Not just the usual crowd-pleaser dishes like Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, Green curry etc. If you ever dine here, do try Tom Saap soup, deep fried small pork intestines and the crispy cat fish salad.
M. S.
They make the best cocktails nice and strong unlike other places that are fruit juices. Aroy aloy mak mak delicious food always our favourite Thai restaurant in Thai town khob khun karb 🙏🙏🙏🇦🇺🇹🇭
W. S.
Had a Hainan Chicken Rice here last night. Slightly different from the Malaysian ones but it's nice!
Please check more about food and travel story on my IG @winahsbcom or my blog winahsb.com
Thank you

Almost gave a 4 stars due to grumpy young waitress but the green hair waitress save the day. Food was fantastic, as close to Thailand food as you can get! clean and well maintained. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended!!! :)
E. s.
Such a great and beautiful place . Delicious food and good customer service. We are feels like in Thailand with Thailand decorations. A lot of variety of foods and sweets. 👍🏻👍🏻
a. l.
Love the vibe and sheer authentic atmosphere this place exudes! Food’s great, hot spicy is the standard, can be a bit sweet but that’s thai for you! Live music was an added plus and it’s very popular with the locals!!! Thank you for a great night!

Good and (relatively) authentic Thai food. Above average menu selection; som tum delicious. Experience marred by the (lack of) service with disinterested perfunctory delivery of food and whisking away of plates as the last mouthful is still being chewed. Soulless, smileless girls unable to hide their boredom and disinterest. If you’re close, takeout a good option.
S. A.
Absolute delicious food. I normally go to this place to have crab curry and the massaman curry which has a awesome flavour. Other than that the service is very quick, and the drink menu is also very good, my all time favourite is the lychee drink ,staff is very friendly. Strongly recommend to try out this place 👍

Overall:
- Staffs and service are efficient.
- Pretty cozy atmosphere.
- Food is pretty average. But if you want a small hotpot in the middle of winter, this is a good run. Noodle soup is another option.
(we ordered sea food crispy noodle, pork intestine, green curry which not include steam rice).
- Price is not expensive at all !! Totally 51.70 for our order.

Came on a quiet Sunday for lunch around noon and it was dead quiet, which is a welcome change from the busy bustling crowd on a regular night. Ordered the no.22 guay tiew nuea and no.26 wings saabs. The broth for the guay tiew noodles was rich and flavourful. The wings were ok, a little too much bones for my liking. Would happily come back and try the other noodle dishes, judging by the two dishes I had. Only criticism was I thought the salads were quite pricy compared to other places, but willing to try it next time.
A strong contender for best thai restaurant in Sydney.
A. M.
Excellent food
We actually ordered more food but didn’t take photo cuz too busy eating hahaha. The fish is so good and the price are very reasonable too. Much better than other Thai restaurant. Will definitely come back again !
D. H.
Absolutely amazing food, friendly service and great pricing.
By far the best Thai restaurant in Sydney when it comes authentic Thai dishes.
M. F.
Very nice atmosphere and friendly wait staff. The food tasted really good and was very well priced for the location. Very large range on the menu aswell. Would highly recommend visiting!
P. C.
Dishes done well - loved the steamed fish fillet with lime sauce and the crying tiger. The crispy pork belly is good when eaten hot but got lackluster once it turned cold. Found the noodles slightly on the sweeter side. However, still a meal I enjoyed very much. Good food, good vibes (with a live band) and good service. Bill came up to AUD93 for 5 dishes and 1 drink
B. L.
You will not miss this place as it has dessert cart out the front that resembles a street vendor, selling a great variety of Thai sweets as well as pancakes that are made to order. Head inside and you will find lunch specials at $7.99 (no longer available unfortunately) for a tasty plate of slow cooked pork leg or hainan chicken with rice.
The place really comes alive at night with live music and they are fully licensed to sell beers and some really cool cocktails. Their menu covers everything you can think of in authentic Thai flavours that are geared towards Thai customers. This also means they serve some less common dishes like fermented pork salad and deep fried pig intestines that may turn off less adventurous diners.
L. B.
Veg‘s good. Chicken wing was good especially when it just served.
First try of raw prawn, kind of flour texture.
S. P.
Sensational food and service. But I must comment on the decor, that transports you to another world. I really enjoyed my meal, but even more, the atmosphere.
g. a.
The steamed fish w lemon is really good. I thought I was in Thailand. The papaya salad w salted duck egg was tasty but not the best hence 4 star. Staffs were really nice and friendly and there was live band playing so that was another plus. The next table ordered the beef salad and it smells so good... I'll be back for that the next time.
Z. S.
Good food but the portion was not that big.
We ordered flat rice noodles with chilli basil sauce, steamed fish with lime juice and BBQ beef. The beef is well cooked and really tasty. Noodles are bit too spicy and fish is just okay, not as good as it looks.
R. M.
Great 👍 Thai place in the Thai quarter in Sydney. Since it's a popular restaurant there might be a 10-15 wait for a table around 8pm - 8:30pm but snack on one of their delicious desserts 🍨 while you wait - they are totally worth it. Once you're seated service is good (not amazing but nothing as bad as reviews suggest).. the food is great for for the price and I'd definitely recommend checking out the restaurant if you're in the area
Y. L.
Good service and food was okay. We like the curry and spicy pork soup, but the fish feels strange because it was a bit stinky
K. S.
Recommended place for thai food. The tomyum soup surprisingly amazed me!!! Bought some desserts back after we finished the meal and I'm in love with their desserts now. Always drop by to get some desserts home whenever I pass by city from that day onwards.
S. I.
Good vibe, feels like Thailand the inside atmosphere of the restaurant. Desserts at the front of the shop was the best 🙏🇨🇷❤
F. W.
The pineapple fired rice is so yummy and comes in a big portion. This is the best pineapple fired rice I had in Sydney, green curry is also nice.
C. K.
Almost give a 3 star , as the food is alright ,the place is small and the service is not up to standards but it has good vibe over all. Also really love the coconut icecream, very refreshing.
The price is really good for such great location.
A. G.
yummy!love the atmosphere there. Will definitely go again :)
G.
Dinner reservations recommended for this popular restaurant. Efficient table service. Extensive menu choice. Wines quite reasonable at $5 for a glass of chardonnay.
My pork salad (Larb Moo) was very good and I enjoyed the inclusion of liver which I had not had before in a Thai Salad.
Solo guitarist added to the entertainment of the evening.
T. a. a.
The Khao Soi is good, the only thing that would make it even better is if they served it with lime instead of lemon
D. W.
Always a good meal at a good price. I come every time I'm in Sydney
B. J.
Love the relaxed atmosphere and huge range of Thai dishes. Live music adds a real Bangkok beer garden feel.
k. l.
Authentic Thai food. Great place for yummy food after 9pm. Eaten here many times. Curry, noodles, prawns, chicken... All yummy. Love the coconut ice cream. Pleasant live singer and guitarist.
K. D.
The food is So Good! Tom Yum Noodle is hot&sweet spicy tangy taste but so balance, the broth is amazing! BBQ ox tongue is tender, dipping sauce is good too. But the star of the meal is the Papaya Salad!! Omg it was the best I’ve ever had. Service is friendly. We went on weekdays so it wasn’t busy. Price is cheap for 4 dishes. Will be back again! xX ขอบคุณค่ะ

Truly Amazing! This was some of the best food I have had in my life! I had the deep fried soft shell crab dish and a spicy beef salad. Truly remarkable flavor!
C. T.
Nice meal and nice ambience.. live band music (in Thai unfortunately...)
Went back after 2 months, food is amazingly good and authentic Thai. Even my teammate who is used to travel to Bangkok commented that the food is delicious and the real deal!
S. L.
Thanon Khaosan is a busy and crowded Thai restaurant. Making reservation in advance is recommended, otherwise you can wait in the line for about 15 mins to get a table. The restaurant is not so spacious so a small group of 2 to 6 would be ideal.
It is located near Central station and Museum station, with walking distance of about 10 mins. They have friendly staff, great food, huge portion, affordable price (15-30 Aud/dish).
I came here on Friday night and they had live music. Although it was busy at peak hours but I did not have to wait too long for the food to be served.
I had great experience and will definitely come back again.
p. c.
Authentic thai desserts and yummy street food. Def. worth a look if you're wandering around Haymarket.
C. Y.
Love this place 💕excellent Thai food and live music. Have been here three times a week after my first time.
G.
Always delicious. Usually there's a line, so get in early or wait a while. It moves pretty quickly. Grab some yummy sweets on your way out as well.
L. M.
We had our Christmas dinner here. Staff was very attentive and friendly, the ambience was really cute and the food was excellent. My husband had one of the best curries he's ever had and we've been to Thailand.
J. J.
Best Thai food in Sydney, taste just like local food in Bangkok.
F. K.
A popular little Thai place with their dessert cart out the front. Feels just like being in Thailand. I tried their coconut and pandan treat which was so tasty and delicious!
C. K.
One of the best and most authentic Thai restaurants in downtown Sydney.
J. P.
Thanon Khaosan is a small but atmospheric eatery situated opposite World Square. It provides good quality Thai food at a reasonable price, and the portion is reasonably big as well. One of the recommendation would be to try the Pad Thai noodle, which you can select with any number of meats or vegetables.
D. A. P. V.
I used to come here every week But one day a girl outside at the desserts stand was so rude that I wanted to swear at her. I didn’t and I didn’t come back. The customer has the power not rude staff.
C. L.
One of the most authentic Thai restaurants in the city.
J. B.
Great, tasty, authentic Thai food.
J. S.
A surprisingly excellent experience on a Friday night ... fantastic, well presented food and great atmosphere ( live music), great to see the happy faces of local Thai community socialising here.
This place will become a favourite of mine.
t.
Come here for visiting, was so surprise! great thai foods in Sydney, I can feel like i’m in Thailand. Love the watermelon blended.
A.
Good, decently priced Thai food.
T. E.
Great authentic Thai food, loved the live music and atmosphere, all topped off by wonderful service.
S. B.
Nice vibe and I loved the band singing songs at midnite. Food is cheap and tasty 😋 I went there with 4 friends and ordered 6dishes. The total came to only 120bucks👍
R. C.
Delicious, authentic, good price. Not sure why this isn’t rated higher.
T. L.
Great tasting food for an okay price. Authentic atmosphere and friendly servers. It's a good place to come with a group of friends.
N. M.
My family and I lived in Thailand, and go back frequently. The food here is as good, in fact on par with the best in Bangkok. It's the best we've ever had in Australia by a long way, and we are fussy Thai eaters. The soft shell crab (curry) and larb gai (mixed chicken salad) and the Milk Thai Tea are simply perfect.
B. F.
Very very very amazing Thai restaurant in Sydney. We love it so much! The menu is just so special! It is an wow when we see our foods is raw. I didn't expect that but I do happy that I ordered that. foods are so fresh and so Thai.
Recommend!!!!!
Just be aware with the level of spiciness 😂😂 I even eat in tear 😂😂
G. L.
Pretty sweet spot for late night thai supper!
j. l.
Very traditional thai food with nice environment and fabulous food! Surprise with live band in Sunday night!
G. H.
Always great food and service. Live music is also a plus!
P. G.
Fun and lively place on a Saturday night. Great find on EatClub! Spicy, fresh and tasty flavours. Choo Cher a bit heavy on cream. Would come back to try more of their menu.
E. D.
One of our favourite places to eat in Sydney. Does Thai food right. Their crab meat fried rice is divine.
j. o.
So authentic... Very close to Thailand, except not too spicy
S. S.
Authentic yummy Thai food, sells a lot of Thai sweets / finger food , cozy place & good service
B. L.
Food here is always great. It does get a little loud, parking is an issue etc but otherwise, if you’re looking for Thai that won’t disappoint look no further.
R. M.
Covid safe , traditional street food .amazing flavors.
A. K.
This is a comfy Thai restaurant; their portion tend to be more suitable for a group dining rather than on your own. They don't serve much desert though, but their main dish are superb. They also sell Thai snacks, which I love very much.
E. M.
The best Thai in Sydney by far! Authentic food and atmosphere, my partner & I have visited many times to eat in and takeaway.
R. H.
Good Thai Restaurant in Thaitown. What makes it special is that they have the street food and desserts in front of the shops. They are quite cheap, bite sizes and delicious. And it is available all day long. You can easily grab one from the side of the street and go merry along on your journey.
o. w.
Best grill pork! Papaya salad also nice very authentic!
G. A.
Comcrete solid legit thai tukka...
Sticky rice with bamboo..
Get it in ya xoxox
J. P.
Awesome food at a great price. The Khao soy gai is out of this world good. The sweet treats sold out the front of the restaurant are always great. The Service is fast and friendly. Well thought out theming creates a unique atmosphere.
Great place to have dinner with friends and the live music is always fun. I highly recommend for any lovers of Thai cuisine.
r. d.
Good food, cosy atmosphere, plus live music
T. R.
It's a nice enough Thai place in an area that has a lot of competition. Their menu is pretty comprehensive with some dishes using ingredients that I haven't seen in most Thai places like pickled crabs and liver. The service is polite and speedy and I like the stall they have at the entrance where you can grab something sweet or get a crepe whipped up on the spot. Prices are quite reasonable considering the location with lunch for three just nudging the thirty dollar mark.
S. P.
Great authentic taste. Full of thai expats. Had a duck with the plum sauce: great duck . Went back for Northern pork stew curry. Great flavour : reminded me of being there.
Not sure what the fuss is about. Admit the staff aren't chirpy but the food and atmosphere is great.
K. S.
Great food, enough portions. Opens till late. The only drawback for me is sharing table with other people. Busy all the time. Live local Thailand music. I don’t understand it but it was good. A must try place for sure. I missed eating crape so I’m waiting to go back. (The crape stall closes at 11pm).
J. R.
I read some of the comments listed about this restaurant - no idea why because I like to decide for myself, but I have been totally shocked by some comments. This restaurant is by far my FAVE Thai restaurant in Sydney. Every time someone asks for a restaurant recommendation this is my first choice. My husband and I love this place and frequent it often. The pineapple fried rice is amazing, I have never ever had a bad meal there! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
P. H.
Anytime I missed my good time in Thailand, I go to this restaurant, everything look like home specially their food taste, reasonable price and you can also enjoy live Thai songs.
P.s don't forget try some sweets.
Z. v. L.
Delicious Thai food with a typical Thai ambiance! It actually feels like you are in Thailand. Their menu is large, so a lot of variety! I went there a couple of times and recommend the Pad Thai! They also have Thai beers and pancakes with Nutella and banana, yummy!!
조.
I’m so sad. First, I left food because I was very full. Second, I can’t visit again because it is the last day in Sydney. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was good due to the performance. This is the best restaurant I’ve been to in Sydney. Thank you so much for giving me a good memory.
B. S.
Very good local Thai food. Might be spicy for some people but it is authentic. Had many dishes from the menu and all were very tasty. My personal favoutite Thai food is pad se eew. They have a list of signature dishes, like panang curry with duck served in young coconut shell which is fantastic. It's great also for small plates to share. They do offer take away and the wait is not too bad, I recommend calling to place an order first amd pick it up later.
They don't have much on the dessert menu (missed my favourite fried donuts with pandan sauce) but they have a separate stand in front of the restaurant where you can get some Thai sweets and crepes of your choosing.
J. L.
Decent Thai food. Less crowds as compared to some Thai restaurants around the area, so it's a good one to go to when you need a table "now." Crepes are popular and huge variety of desserts. The mango sticky rice looked like it has been sitting there for a while.
D. F.
The wife and I frequent Thanon Khaosan at least 4times a month. When family is in town we take them here for the dinning experince, most nights there is live music after 8pm. usually a 2piece band. Great food and service.
I. S.
Love the dessert sold in the front! Taste like coconut milk which contained both flavours of salty and sweet.
J. B.
The food was delicious, very quick and the staff were lovely.
The Thai milk tea and the Pad See Ew were especially good
N. T.
Taste of authentic Thai food is here 😋 Love the decoration of this place remind me of Thailand 🇹🇭
M. S.
Food is tasty lots of dessert options
N. “. a. D.
I quite like it here. the food is always a bit spicier than I expect it to be but it's still delicious. very rustic looking and the tables are a bit too close together, but it's really popular so you gotta get in early if you don't wanna wait. of course they also have takeaway if you don't make it before the rush
B. Y.
Great authentic food, I loved their pork belly with spicy anchovy paste, fresh veggies and sticky rice. Their desserts are fantastic too. Can't wait to come back soon!
C. C.
Awesome flavours, great atmosphere. Unexpected live music the night we went. Perfect
E. F.
Good place and good food! My favorites are fried pork intestine, and plum sauce duck. all other food i’ve tasted was pretty good, only the bbq pork was slightly too sweet for my taste.
Staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, good food, music, and service! Definitely coming back for more food!
B. R.
Most genuine Thai food I've found in Australia. Really great, I love this place.
E. S. D.
A trusted Thai place for us. We have been back a few times. The drink selection is great and the food are alwa ys delicious. The little Thai snacks / dessert carts at the front also offers delicious takehome after dinner sweets. Some nights it could get really busy and a queue may be present. The live music is actually pretty good and it adds to the atmosphere of the Thai decor of the place. Sometimes service can be a bit slow but mostly it is ok.
A. C.
Great little Thai hole-in-the-wall. Very authentic. Love this place and always try to make time for lunch here whenever I'm in Sydney. The lunch specials are excellent and I especially love the spicy Pad Kee Mao.
J. E.
Been here many times and service is always good. Extensive menu and all my group of friend ever ordered are yummy. The live band is another plus. Since I'm staying nearby, I'll be coming back for sure. :)
A. I.
It's an authentic atmosphere and open late at night.
We even caught a live band there, which was a surprising addition.
The floor staff are very helpful if they can understand your request.
The dishes that I had there were all good.
The pad thai looked great and was a generous serve.
I really wanted to try the dishes with offal, they sounded very tasty.
The tom yum goong was a bit thin for my liking, but otherwise very tasty with beautiful prawns.
My favourite was the stir fried crispy pork with chinese broccoli, and a side dish of rice.
That hit the spot for $18, and did not leave room for dessert.
I'm not sure about the signage about a 10% surcharge on public holidays.
O. M.
As a Ferang that grew up in Bangkok I can safely say this is the best Thai food I have had outside of Thailand. The menu, the spices, and the ladies all bring you out of Sydney and hit you smack dab in Bangkok. Memories of my favourite mom and pop shop rose up as the flavours cascaded my tongue.
K.
Food was ok, but they did not follow social distancing rules. The restaurant was packed out (literally every table), and all they did was seperate the tables 30cm apart. Every person was about 1 meter away from each other.
Would not be going back.
V. T.
Great place, great atmosphere, great food. We also love their acoustic night with live music from their Thai Singers. I would definitely go back here and recommend people to do so.
C. W.
Enjoy good value local Thai food in Hawker setting. A lot of dessert choices in the cart at the front of the store. There is also a good selection of ingredients for your custom crepe - Peanut butter and strawberries are my favourite.
c. h.
A dirty plate for new customers. There were two waitress, one of them tried to pick up my plate when there were still some vegetables and source I haven’t touch so I stopped her. But 2 minutes later, another waitress picked them up quickly without saying any word!!
We were still eating, it’s like they wanted to drive us away. That’s a kind of rude.
M. T.
Great atmosphere and reasonable prices. The stir fry tofu with vegetables was an excellent option for a healthy meal - a really good student band was playing excellent live tunes at the time - not too noisy
E. P.
I'm surprised at the quality of the food in this restaurant and the authenticity. Price-wise this is cheaper than other famous Thai restaurants which I find a bit overrated.
The ambience really reminds you of Thailand, with the tuk-tuk in front and bird cages hanging. Don't forget to try the traditional desserts. They're to die for!
J. C.
Great ambience and really authentic food with live Thai popular music.
Highly recommend
R. B.
We've eaten there so many times before and it's usually very good, but today we actually had to return the yellow curry, it was just uneatable...something must have gone wrong in the preparation, super spicy, no flavor, actually a very bad after taste and the portions were smaller than usual.
S. L.
0 customer services. Some staff are rude. But the food is good.
B. H.
The best Thai in Sydney if you are looking for authentic and unique.
Flavours aren't westernised, with all their dishes bursting with flavours.
Watch out for the savory sweet desserts if that isn't your thing! Try them with an open mind!
J.
As a fan of Thai food, this place truly delivers. There is a very pleasing aesthetic be with the bricked walls and urban-esque decoration. Service is always extremely quick, and food is very delicious. Highly recommend.
S.
Delicious fresh food,great desserts
D. T.
Enjoying casual dining at Thanon khao san at china town, situated at pitt street sydney, easy to find it. nice setting, friendly and helpful staff, will assist you to chose authentic thai desserts and foods. Been here many time, desserts and meal very reasonable price and taste very nice. I enjoying the meal very much. I keep coming in and trying all different dish.
J. L.
When you step into the TK space youre reminded of your first trip.to Thailand with the decor.of number plates, portrait of the King, stattuettes and bird cages hanging over you on the ceiling and the Tuk Tuk that greets you at the entrance. And its reenforced by the great Thai staff who willingly assist in recommendations when studying the menu.of over 120 dishes.
PAPAPAYA SALAD and CRISPY DUCK IN PLUM SAUCE were both served on a long platter. I love the tropicsl freshness of the salad, the crunch of the Papaya and fish sauce shrimp chilli dressing.
THE PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE is usually served with seafood but as my dinner companion is allergic, the staff and chef were very accommodating in tweaking the Chef's Specialty Dish and instead used chicken. Such beautiful presentation of this with the colorful rice pouring into the hollow pineapple and over on the plate. Really enjoyed this.
For DESSERT we enjoyed a great selection from their street cart including Mango sticky rice, Cassava, Coconut pancake with pandan and Pandan banana coconut with black sesame!!!
So good we were completely stuffed! Ive been here so many times and its like a little escape to Thailand!
S. P.
Pad Thai and Lychee punch are my go to items at this place. This place serves authentic Thai food from curries, noodles ,entrees and salads etc. It is a reasonably priced place and has lot of options. I heard the papaya salad is great as well. But I must recommend the awesome looking desserts they have at the entrance specially pandan and coconut ones. Yummylicious!
K. A.
I also had a couple of vouchers to try the pad thai and green curry. I also had trouble making the booking as the phone was never answered after weeks of trying. I also made a booking online and there was no reply. So, I went in there with my voucher and was very pleased to see that the restaurant was still open! The very friendly staff accepted the voucher and I am pleased to announce that the food was amazing! The moral to the story folks is that if you have one of the those vouchers you better just get in there before it runs out...... and that is soon :) They also have some very authentic Thai desserts that you can choose from the front counter and the daily blackboard menu too.
W. W.
Expensive for Thai food, felt the yellow curry and red curry need more spices added and a tad on the sweet side. Presentation is above average. Fish cake is very average which was disappointing as most reviews raved about how "authentic" this place is. Loved Satay Chicken skewers, they used meat from the thigh unlike most other thai places uses the breast, cooked to perfection, so tender! The duck red curry was served in a coconut shell, but most of my ducks were not chopped properly thus when I picked up one piece seven other pieces of duck was stringed up. Disappointed by dessert as the coconut layer was salty... couldn't stomach it: Banana & coconut cake, sticky rice + coconut + black bean cake. Staff is very ad-hoc, level of friendliness varied but all fairly efficient.
J. C.
Fantastic authentic thai food! Really interesting dishes you almost never see at other thai restaurants and spicy!. The staff are friendly they will ask how spicy you want for your dishes.
A. M.
This restaurant has good food at an average price ($15 for stir fried noodles with chicken). It's always busy and the seating is quite crowded (there are only a few inches between the tables) but I've never had to wait to get a seat on a weeknight.
M.
Love the food here and the desserts. Great service and good atmostphere. As close to Thailand that you could get.
T. D.
Good enough for 2 people 😂
S. C.
A good thai restaurant with atmosphere specially at nights and on the weekends. Popular with Thai's and other nationalities. Have visited many times and never been disappointed.
B. S.
Loved the pork belly. Great live band playing on Saturday night too.
S. M.
Great food, served fast even when busy. Nice wine selection. Live music was very nice and not too intrusive. Great dinner spot, will definitely come here again!

Thank you team Thanon Khaosan for your good service with great food . I have been here with my college group all of our group members found as a awesome place for quality food and service. Surely i will be back again with my mates for thai food.
J. L.
Legit spices and flavours
Love the eclectic interior.
T. N.
It’s the Thai dessert cart at the front that’s most successful in evoking Thailand; colourful exotic desserts in a street food environment.
Thanon Khaosan Thai tries to emulate the carefree excitement of Thailand’s most famous backpacker area with street food dessert stall, mixed wood panels, a feature wall of Thai number plates and of course, a tuk tuk.
Lab moo (minced pork salad) is amazing, but you'll need to like offal - there's plenty of liver hiding underneath.
Grilled chicken was neither here or there, under done and missing that nice charred outer.
Staff, like most Thai places are friendly and helpful.
M. M.
Moderately priced Thai food in the heart of Thainatown. You will instantly recognise this spot by the tuktuk it the front & the Thai sweets bar just as you walk in. The food is fresh and fast, not super cheap but pretty tasty. Asked for everything extra spicy, Thai spicy but it wasn't that hot. Som tum needed more fish paste too! Haha. Besides that, I would definitely go back. Big selection of interesting unknown and well known Thai food.
t. s.
Food was ok, tasted allright but not like it does in Thailand. Nicely decorated and genuine thai staff, but no tuk tuk in sight. A little expensive also.
M. C.
Great genuine Thai food. Lots of Thais eating here which is always a good sign. Lots and lots of Thai desserts here too. They were making some of them on the spot.
M.
Had ‘Ba Mee Moo Dang’ from their lunch menu and it was absolutely delicious — well-plated bowl filled with flavourful noodles, bite-sized BBQ pork and great skin-to-filling ratio. Service was prompt.
K. A.
If your looking for an authentic thai experience I highly recommend this place.
It was just like our experience living in Thailand. The waitress didn't blink twice when we ordered in our basic Thai and the food was authentic. The place was filled with young Thais' (good indication on the authenticity of the food), the music was a Thai singer with a guitar singing in Thai and English - just like being in a restaurant/bar in Bangkok (the only thing missing was the sound of the trains passing by and the stray dogs). The service was ad-hoc, some of our entre's came out with mains and some of our mains came out with the entre's - just like it happens in Thailand. As a result we loved it...!!! I rate it for the authenticity. I'd go there every night if i lived in Sydney....
M. C.
Food was reasonable although on the pricier side. What I liked about this place was the live music. They had a Thai duo singing and on guitar and I really felt I was in a bar along Khao san road
K. C.
We haven't had the opportunity to dine in yet but we have been buying the delicious desserts on offer at the front. An amazing choice. Worth stopping by to grab something to try.
J. H.
Great food and live music at a reasonable price. Reminds me of my trips to Thailand.
E. M.
The pork belly w/ kangkung had good flavours but had a lot of liquid in the bottom, reasonable prices. I expected it to come with rice, but it didn't - my mistake.
UberEats order.
I. C.
Authentic Thai with live music. Lots to choose from menu
S. H.
Nice authentic Thai food. Very good for lunch. Also fun to look at all the snacks at the front :)
A. C.
The food arrived promptly and was well made. The only downside is the table wasnt wiped down properly (sticky patches) from the last customers.
J. M.
Truly incredible, I always ordered the crying tiger. Without fail it was delicious, not suitable for people who can't handle spicy food. My mouth is watering just typing this review.
P. L.

We came here not knowing what to expect, but ending up really enjoying everything.
The tom yum noodle soup and khao soi were both full of flavour and left my mouth buzzing, and the soft shell crab was just as satisfying (although the portion was a bit small for the price). The drinks were really good as well! We had the yakult drink and a thai milk tea.
Service was OK - they were pretty busy at the time. They came out with one of the noodle soups first, but we had to wait a long time for everything else and at that point, the first dish was getting cold and soggy.
Overall though, we were happy with the food and would definitely would come back to try some other things on the menu.
