This new restaurant, opened only 2-3 months ago, is highly recommended. The menu was well considered and matching wines were delicious. We were seated outside and loved the atmosphere. Each course was wonderfully cooked and presented, especially the wagyu. Friendly and efficient service topped off a great night.

I had the 4 course meal and the food divine. Only my second time having course meals, but definitely the best place I’ve been to. The turkey breast and leg and the carrots were the best. Not sure what they did but it was the best carrot I’ve ever had. Went for my 1 year anniversary and they organised a cute dessert as well which was much appreciated. The server (Jun) was amazing, made the whole experience way better, gotta give credit to Jun for making the night a really special experience. Will be coming here again for special occasions!

his place was pricey. There was a four course set menu and little alternative, and it wasn't cheap. But it was a nicely balanced meal with a good blend of tastes and some original touches. The main course was either focussed around super tender Wagyu beef or delicious white fish, but both were particularly ungenerous in size, so if you are a big eater, I wouldn't recommend this place, unless you are content to fill yourself on their delicious, warm sourdough bread. The doors were open the whole length of the room and it was lovely to sit in the evening in the nicely designed low lighting looking over the old piers and the harbour.

I ate here on a Tuesday night and it was fantastic! Food and service was on point. I loved every single dish that came out and enjoyed the wines too. My favourites would have to be the Sydney Rock Oysters served with the finger lime and dessert! Everyone at the table enjoyed the service and food so much! Suggestion for improvement would be to work on the interior decoration. It’s a bit bland or bistro like, compared to the outdoor area which looks more interesting. Other than that, I would happily revisit! Added to my favourites now :)

The vegan tasting menu was fantastic, very creative. Service was excellent. My only suggestion is to turn on the outdoor heaters in the evening even if the day was warm, it got pretty chilly outside for our 8pm dinner.

Very good service. Deep alcohol/wine selection. Very well priced considering the quality and menu. My veal tongue was perfectly cooked, super tender. The fig and ricotta entree was delightful. Was hoping for burrata on the menu, but oh well. Chocolate dessert was impressive, while not being overly decadent. Well return sooner than later.

Great venue for occasion! Was here for family gathering, some had preferences different to the set menu which they were more than happy to accommodate. Customer service was excellent. The food was most enjoyable. I didn't make any request for seating arrangement so we were organised on the balcony. There was an engagement party so it got quite rowdy. Would be back and definitely would recommend.

The atmosphere was mellow and quiet but perhaps this was because it wasn't very full. The desserts were fantastic. This seems like a good place to come with family with the variety of options for people with different tastes. There are plenty of good vegetarian options. You will need relatively deep pockets to eat here, however, the food does not disappoint.

Staff let the restaurant down here. Our waitress was hard to catch, had no idea what half the words on the menu were and finally refused to let us taste one of the wines by the glass. We ended up feeling unwelcome, and left ordering no wine or dessert because of the poor service. At almost $50 for one of our mains you expect top notch service. The food was nice, the wagyu was wonderfully cooked. They could do with a few sides available on their pre dinner menu, like salad or vegetables, or simply just offer their a la carte on Saturdays.

Had a lovely dinner here on Saturday night. We had the vegetarian 4 course dinner, however there is also the vegan and meat 4 course options. It appears to be a dog friendly restaurant, with dogs allowed inside the restaurant at dinner and some snacks provided for the dogs. The cucumber starter was probably my favourite. The food is beautifully presented and it is not too much food despite being four courses. They primarily take card and require your card details to confirm a booking.

My first ever visit was immaculate, everything was near perfect. The view is amazing, perfect for a romantic atmosphere. However, post lockdown revisit it seems they've dropped the ball a little. Service was slow and quality did not resonate. Be mindful it is near the water and common for 'odours' within the vicinity and during dining.

Spectacular food, service and all round evening. We found ourselves with a new four course tasting menu. Each course was well balanced with each ingredient to play its magical part in fulfilling the perfect dish. This was not a meal that was all show no action, but all action with all show. The plate was clearly put together with more than two eyes, it felt like a team had all contributed to create the perfect balance of harmony and flavour. Nothing was too dominating nothing was to overwhelming. True perfection. It was clear that love was put into each course and credit to all involved. Well done and bravo to the kitchen. This is a good restaurant. The food is very good and they have the apertiser, entree, main in a way you can have any combination. Medium sized wine list with an excellent selection at a every level all at a.reasonable price. This allowed us to drink some excellent wines wit the terrific food. Service could have been fractionally more attentive but you can't have everything.

Had lunch here today, after reading about it in Broadsheet. Online reviews were kind, and despite the steep prices I could see on their website, I jumped on the basis of the harbour views and the comments about the food. And to be fair, the food I ate was great, bar the fries, but more on that later. The problem with restaurants like this that operate out of well located hotels is something of a conundrum. The restaurant is part of a greater economic whole, and prices are routinely high to reflect this and the price of the prime real estate they live on. Grantry lives in this space. It's a great spot, at Pier One on the harbour, but it falls short of it's high prices. Two entrees of oysters and two mains (from a list of only five) and one modest bottle of wine from the short and expensive list made for a bill of 250 dollars. The food was very good, and the service friendly and attentive, but the value just isn't there. It's just good, not great. It's competent, but not remarkable, and it's the food that lets it down, or rather the quantity and the extras. At this price I want to see something more on my plate, not a tiny portion covering a quarter of it, served with tepid fries that would embarass McDonalds. It's simply too little for the money, given the literally hundreds of other choices nearby, many of which present a greater value proposition. It's a tough game, sure, especially now, but in terms of a review, it's just too far a stretch to recommend this. It's really for people staying in the hotel, that don't know better or don't care. Good, certainly, but just not good enough for the money. It's a one-timer from me, sorry. We left and walked up to the Harbour View Hotel for another wine, and another view.

Visited Friday evening for dinner. The evening started slowly with poor attention from service staff. The wait for staff to take even drinks orders and then to bring the drinks and bread was disappointing. Large wine menu was good. The food menu was very good. The flavours were exceptional and very well received by our group. Staff were polite yet seemed inexperienced for the most part given the price points of the establishment. Quality food was the winner both on the regular and vegetarian menus.

Our group of 13 people thoroughly enjoyed your food but we experienced a terrible wine serving. We ordered 2 bottles, but the waiter brought 1 bottle and simply opened it without showing to the person who ordered, and poured into 6 glasses. Then the other 7 people had to wait more than 5 minutes just waiting for the second bottle to come. Again one waiter came and opened the screw cap without showing the label to us. We complained this to the manager but he failed to make a proper polite apology. We have never seen this kind of rude wine serving.

The restaurant is based on the Marriott Autograph hotel on Pier 1, which is an excellent location. We stayed at the hotel, so we had breakfast in the restaurant which became The Gantry at night. We had a table outside, which was just perfect overlooking the water. The menu was very good - we had the A La Carte menu rather than the testing menu. The Wagyu beef was excellent, but everything that we had was very good. There was also a good wine selection, by the glass as well as bottles. The staff were very professional and knowledgable about the food and wine. It was a lovely meal, especially as it was our last night before returning to the UK after a month in Australia and New Zealand.

The food here is at the same level as Aria, but more affordable. We had the Snapper and Wagyu mains and chocolate and fejoa deserts. All were well presented with the deserts being a particular highlight. All dishes were intensely flavoured, with a range of complementary tastes and the ingredients seemed of high quality. Portions are of a reasonable size and I was pretty full after 2 courses. The waiter's were very friendly and to me that added to the experience. If you were after a more formal experience, it might be less suitable. They picked up on clues and made up an anniversary plate for us, which was very nice. I rarely go to the same restaurant twice but I'll be making an exception here.

Being vegetarians we were happy to find out that The Gantry offered a vegetarian and vegan tasting menu (we don't come across this too often). The food here was truly impressive! The flavours were complex and well thought out. We took our time with each and every bite, not wanting it to end. The service was exceptional with each and every staff who appeared committed to making our evening a pleasurable one. Thank you to all the staff, your efforts truly made a difference. The ambiance was perfect for a romantic dinner! Up market decor, dim lights and what appeared to be the most appropriate playlist of smooth sounds playing in the background. Came here for a special occasion and was served by a professional and well-trained staff member. Forgot his name but he definitely matched the reputation of this restaurant. Unfortunately not the same could be said about the other servers. Food was delicious, kangaroo and crab was cooked well. The peppers that came with the kangaroo was extremely chilli - when we asked the waitress about it they said the server should have warned us beforehand but they failed to. Was a cold night and the heater behind us didn’t work - they do provide a throw if you need it which was a nice touch. Overall not a bad experience at all but you do pay more for the location and the little misses make it a 4 star experience.

Visiting Sydney for the first time, I was taken to The Gantry for a birthday treat and what a treat it turned out to be ! We chose the new tasting menu which was being served for the first time that evening paired with wine and every course was as delicious as the next. I took my partner here for his 30th birthday and it was a wonderful night. The setting was beautiful, with an industrial look and feel which I love, and the ambiance was very intimate. The only down-fall, and this is me being picky, is the air-con cooled down to an uncomfortable setting towards the end of the night. The food was lovely, and beautifully presented - our favorite dish was the quail. To conclude this review, the sommelier truly made our night, with his extensive knowledge about the wine, and the complimentary sake and cheese platter at the end. Overall a very successful evening.

My boyfriend and I dined at The Gantry last night for our 2 year anniversary and it was hands down the best dining experience I've yet to have. The staff were unaware that it was our anniversary but welcomed us with such warmth and kindness, seating us at the best table in the restaurant. We opted for the 6 course tasting menu - degustation and it in itself was such an incredible experience. Each meal was created, cooked and presented with such perfection - I've never experience such fine, delicate, delicious flavours. Paired perfectly with the most unique, subtle and absolutely delicious wines we were blown away - hats off to the sommelier you are VERY good at what you do. The timing between courses was perfect and the staff demonstrated their wealth of knowledge around the food and wine in a way that increased our appreciation for the dish even further without carrying on and allowing our food to get cold. Each dish and glass of wine was very generously sized we left full to the brim but in the best way possible. It's a pricey dining experience, but all degustations of this type are, and it was absolutely worth every single penny. I cannot wait to find another excuse to dine with The Gantry team again. Downsides: There IS no signage to help you find this restaurant. Embark on this at your peril! If you have a thing for liking a clean loo at your restaurant, given how much this places charges, you'd be disappointed. Again, given this is a 1 hat restaurant, there should not be tables that wobble. Mine wasn't the only party that elected to be resat at a different table because of table wobble. All of that notwithstanding: The food is sublime. Completely, simply just sublime. This place seriously knows how to turn out a quality meal. Our table waiter got funnier as the meal went on (5 course degustation) which actually went to making the meal more enjoyable. The pride that the staff have in the quality of their food is clear by how they present and describe the plates to the diners.

The staff were lovely and ensured that we were well hydrated given the heatwave that came on Friday. The W.A. Honey Bugs was an amazing entree to have and truly went beyond my expectations. The mains were still good (Pan Roast Snapper & veal tongue) but didn't quite provide the same 'wow' factor the honey bugs provided. Also made a booking as a 'date', would have been nice if the staff could have organised a rose on the table to give it a more romantic feel (Don't actually know if they can do this). Wife and I had a really good lunch at The Gantry. Entrees: we had the calamari, yellow fin and shared spanner crab, all very good. Yellow fin was probably the best. Main: quail was very tasty but slightly over cooked; veal was just a touch under cooked and not particularly well balanced with the sweetbread (too heavy). All was forgiven when we shared the chocolate dessert, which was rich had lots of texture, fun and delightful. Service was top notch. Spent just under $200 between us two, no alcohol.

We had the tasting vegan menu for Father’s Day. It was my hubby’s first Father’s Day and team made sure that everything was well looked after from food to service.
