Went for Valentine's Day and was meant to be a special table organised for us and we were pretty much ignored the whole time, not able to order an cocktails because they took away our menu and never came and checked on us except to bring the meals. There was 45mins between meals and didn't finish until12am, not at all by choice. Not sure where the special treatment memo got lost but we came to the conclusion someone else was being doted on instead of us as everyone around us was being very well looked after. Otherwise maybe we just looked too young. Still not a good excuse for not the highest quality service

The food was really good but we waited a long time to receive it, it’s definitely on the pricier side. The staff were super friendly and attentive. We got the steak, chicken, broccolini, fried potatoes and Ragu pasta.

Located on the fourth floor, Ucello has a very warm and welcoming ambience and is interestingly located beside the pool. The wine selection is extensive. Food is good with the lamb well marinated and sides of good proportions. The staff was attentive and made good recommendation for wine

Excellent start to finish. Highly recommend the bistecca; perfectly cooked (rare) & had a nice caramelised crust. Buffalo mozzarella starter & the broccolini were also really good but the bistecca is not to be missed.

Really enjoyed this experience, service was excellent, couldn’t fault it. Possibly helped we were with a member so received the VIP treatment. Great decor, really do feel like you have transported from Sydney CBD to a Mediterranean hotspot. We shared the chargrilled prawns, prosciutto san Daniele, wood roasted octopus & zuccini flowers to start...now I am fortunate to dine at lots of great restaurants and it’s not often I walk away feeling like I would go back for everything again! It was all so good and had a slightly unique Flare. For mains we shared the bistecca fiorentina and a special not on the menu of whole lobster tagliolini that was incredible. Even the sides where special. I don’t often say this about Merivale, but considering how many cocktails we all had and the amount of quality food I was surprised when the bill came and it wasn’t as pricey as I expected. Don’t get me wrong, it’s up there, worked out just over $200 a head but I have picked up far more damaging bills for far inferior quality, quantity and service! I’ll definitely go back and soon.

Wow, incredible food! We loved every dish amd the vibe is modern and funky. The crab as well as the fried calamari were stellar. The staff know theor stuff and were always around when we needed them. Highly recommended spot!

Great food and an equally good wine list, plus one of the best rooftop pools makes this one of Sydney's must do establishments - just not one for the budget minded. Expect to find a lot of beautiful people dining out on either their parents or on their corporate credit cards. If you've managed to skive off the whole afternoon feel free to bring your swimmers to take a dip. If you can't stay the whole afternoon at least bring your sunnies so you can watch the people who are!

I think Italian battle for the best restaurant is at a very high level and although I don't think Uccello wins, this is extremely cozy place with decent food. Located in Ivy building, one of the flagship of Merivale, offers view on building top s and outdoor pool. Really interesting!

We ordered the Tagliolini spanner crab and Westholme Wagyu rump cap. The crab is seasoned with the perfect level of spice that gives a nice kick to the meal. The Wagyu was cooked to perfection and just melted in your mouth. Overall the atmosphere is quite relaxed although upmarket.

Uccello is sydneys popular yet best kept secret. All my nights partying at ivy distracted from the wonderful wine and dine within the uccello restaurant. The staff are second to none! They're presented well, extremely polite and efficient. The restaurant presents extremely well, the authentic italian vibe stirs a feeling of hunger. Awakening the sense, the food is delicious. Booked a lunch for 6 people and were placed adjacent to the pool. This gives the table a great open feel, while still being out of the sun. The food and wine were exceptional as expected. We ordered a recommended mix of seafood entrees to share and the staff were on point with their selections. For the pasta fanatics, the special on the day was a chilli lobster pasta and i would recommend to share, with 2 people.

Considering that it is a two chef hat restaurant, I was worried that there wouldn't be availability when we decided to walk down and see if they had availability. There was a handful of open tables on a weekday near the end of the lunch service which was great. It was a perfect opportunity to try one of the best restaurants in Sydney, no regrets at all.

Overall the food was good but I expected much higher quality with a few dishes. The prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella was especially disappointing. I certainly expected much better service from a Merivale establishment, especially so when they ask for an extra 10% service charge for a group of 8 people. That means at least an extra of $100 in service charge on the total bill. It wasn’t a terrible experience but for food quality alone it’s probably the bottom of the many Merivale restaurants I have tried and their service could really do some brushing up in terms of attentiveness.

It's a nice location. Only let down by the level of noise, the crowded-ness. I mean, it's next to a club/dance floor (in all directions) and it's SO full. So so many people. Waiters can't even get to your table easily and it's a nightmare trying to get any service. So, as an intimate dining place, it's truly horrible. But, the food wasn't too bad. I'm not going again though I think. There are plenty of better restaurants with dedicated space for dining in. Like, every other restaurant I've ever been to, come to think of it.

What an unbelievable place. The best experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Staff were very accommodating always visible and happy to help. Food was amazing, I've never had 3 courses at a restaurant before but I couldn't stop eating it. Definitely worth the price of admission and will be back in no time.

Had my friend's birthday dinner tonight. The food was good, staff were friendly but the false fire alarm went off twice, there was strong wind coming through the wall as one waiting staff had to push the glass wall not to make it collapse inwards. None of the staff was telling anyone what to do as if they were very used to it. Apart from the noise from it, it was a nice experience for the occasion.

The outdoor aspect of this place is just great. The view is good, the staff are nice, the location central, and the view onto the pool adds something really special. It's an oasis in the city, lifted up out of the streets and spirited away. Sydney lacks for good outdoor venues, and this is certainly one of them.

I went when they had their march madness deal on. good food and wine for a great price. I sometimes go there before a big night out dancing at the ivy. The pasta is excellent, very fresh. A great selection of wines, with a sommelier who knows what he's talking about. Good lighting, nice outlook over the rooftop pool bar. Not too loud either which surprised me.

Hidden away, upstairs and down an alleyway off George St, this is a gem.of a restaurant. Mind you, judging from the full house on a Thursday lunch, it's not a well hidden secret if you're a Sydneysider. I had the market fish - unusually a mullaway, but it was beautifully cooked and served on a bean puree with wood fired cauliflower. The flavours worked do well together. The wine list was extensive and not too pricey. A sommelier on standby to help with your selection. The service was generally excellent. But the highlight for me was the panacotta with superbly cooked rhubarb. The flavour and texture combination worked so well.

Fantastic position overlooking Ivy Pool Club. Wait staff where very friendly and helpful. Some of us ordered the pigeon, however having it delivered to our table, head, neck and all on a plate with nothing else, was a bit off putting. A better presentation of meals would be advisable.

Uccello is located above Ivy, on level 4 of the building so a little hard to find if you don't know where you are going...The dining room decor is very cool & stylish and I loved the tables overlooking the pool & bar,- it is a great area to have pre dinner drinks on a nice day,- great atmosphere. It is quite a large restaurant so can get a little loud depending where you sit. The service was superb, very attentive. We ordered a number of different dishes, such as Fried calamari, lemon which were OK, the Tomatoes with Buffalo mozzarella was amazing and Wood fired scampi, fennel pollen, chilli, lemon were very tasty as well, For mains we had the Wood roasted whole fish, caper leaves, lemon, butter, the John Dory, baby heirloom tomatoes, marjoram and the Wood roasted lamb cutlets, ricotta, peas, mint and each of the dishes were perfectly executed. I ordered the Spaghetti chitarra, guanciale, S.Marzano tomatoes, pecorino and the pasta was amazing, al dente just the way it should be and the guanciale were like little flavour bombs! Unfortunately we had no room for dessert... Depending on what you order it may not end up being a cheap meal. The only odd thing was the restroom set up as you have to go down a staircase to the large "change rooms" where the toilets are located which is a little odd.

I have now tried most of the dishes here. The first time I came was probably 3 years ago, it was not so memorable back then except the bill. I heard the chef has changed since. Most of the dishes are top notch, including the pastas. The polenta dish, wood fired onion, and strawberry semifreddo I would like to go back for soon. Prices are on the higher end.

What's not to like about Uccello! It's in the Ivy, it serves delicious Italian food, it overlooks the pool bar, it has great drinks and it has great service. How does it do such a great job? Because Justin H is at the helm. This is the kind of restaurant you take jaded American and European visitors to, just to see their reaction. Be sure to go early for drinks around the pool before dinner. If you go in the summer, plan to stay a while. The action just gets better and better.

I can see why it's one chef hat. Service is impeccable and they even gave us a doggy bag,now that's service! I didn't expect it from a high class place like this and was pleasantly surprised Came on a Saturday and you can either choose 3 or 4 courses and how do you pick your courses? I was told that it's up to you! So if you want 4 mains you can have it for the set price! What a interesting concept We choose to try one of each category with our 4 courses Prosciutto do Parma is better than what your average restaurant would serve,I really liked the cheese they used Calamari,octopus I recommend,nothing chewy where my jaw gets sore from chewing forever and nothing happening in my mouth Quail is not for me in not a fan but my fiancé loved it The primo/pastas were a letdown, the reginette and squid ink did nothing for me,expecting more taste from both The pork loin was ok,decent size dish but a lot of fat on it but hey that was what I was expecting The veal though is a winner! Very impressed with our experience,worth trying and worthy of its chef hat status

Excellent dinner! Wood fired scampi were divine. Reginette w/ sausage, wild mushroom & pecorino sardo was delicious but better to share as quite rich in flavour. The Wood roasted whole Snapper w/ caper leaves, lemon & butter melted in your mouth it was so moist and buttery - loved it! We had great service, enjoyed the house wine and adored the variety of breads and olives that were complementary.

(Translated) Uccello The Maryvale Group's Italian casual dining restaurant, located in the famous Ivy pool, has a romantic terrace with a cool pool. In keeping with fame, I have maintained 1 Chef hat in Good Food Guide for several years... No matter how I think about it, the taste of food seems to be small in the standard of Good Food Guide. With 5 members, I ordered a variety of menus such as Antipasti 4, Pasta 3, Main 4, Side 3, and Dessert 4. All the pasta I expected was disappointing, and the main Bistecca steak was just fine. The rest of the pasta wasn't very attractive, so I'm unlikely to come back for a half-price discount event or unless someone buys me. The food was disappointing, but the service was good and the staff felt less offended.
